Another failure got chewed in front of her face, she growled in anger, nearly smacking the petri dish. "Work already!" Her voice was hoarse from screaming last attempt. "It's gold, the gold's supposed to work, why won't you WORK!?"

She was at this for hours, and there was no sign of success, a feeling of nausea and dread grew in her stomach. Please… Liv needed it. Liv needs to live. I have nothing left to lose.

"Liv, Liv!" She remembered being so excited to see Liv come back after a long day of work. "I missed you!"

"I missed you too, darling." Liv smiled and ruffled her hair. "I… I've been having trouble with the parasynths, no one has been considering them."

"Why wouldn't they?" She frowned, confused by that. "They're a great idea!"

"Some people have different opinions on ideas, and they think mine isn't a very good one." Liv explained. "Not to worry, have you been having fun managing the lab when I'm gone?"

"Yep! I can't wait till your project is funded!" She cheered. "Then we can work on stuff together again!"

But that never happened. And she was alone, and she'd be forever alone if she couldn't get Liv back. Even if if she had to kill everyone in this stupid building to save her family, she'd do it.

"Diane?" She hadn't realized Chris was placing a warm breakfast plate into her hands. "You stayed up another night."

"I don't have the luxury to sleep in." She snapped at him. "Liv is dying, don't you care?"

His eyes flashed with anger. "Of course I care! She's my best friend." Chris placed the petri dish back on the rack. "But at this rate, you're gonna drain the gold before it's even Saturday. Whip up some antibodies and more regenerative tissue for her to give you more time."

You know he's right, you can't help Liv if you work yourself to death. Diane slowly nodded. "Fine, but we'll need more gold if these failures keep up."

Chris flashed a reassuring grin, his fangs digging into his lip. "I can have the pets fetch more, we haven't used the chef much except for simple stealth runs, and of course, food." He chuckled. "Bet the employees haven't questioned why the food tastes richer than normal, I might not like sharp blades that can cut steel, but they do well in the kitchen."

"That's true." She nodded in agreement.

"Get some shut-eye before doing more work, okay?"

"As you wish." She'd get what she wanted anyways. I always do.

"Find a new employer." They said, "It'll be better in the long run." They said, what a bunch of liars.

To Momakase, her counselor, was especially the biggest liar out of the bunch. Then again, they didn't predict she'd be under Liv Amara's bloody thumb once she broke out.

The constantly smiling mutt Chris was having her go on a fetch quest too early in the morning for more gold. "We'd send in Bessie or Sparkles, but you haven't been useful around here lately, have you?" He sneered.

Were it not for the threat on her son dangling under her head, she'd tear both him and the cursed woman with her claws. So now she was feeling the cold, brisk air of San Fransokyo once more, she was starting to forget that sensation after being cooped up at Sycorax for so long.

"Accursed woman, would it kill her to let me have a walk or two?" Momakase murmured under her breath, but she knew the reasoning. Liv doesn't want me trying to contact my son when she's not looking, otherwise…

She shuddered in memory of her fellow villains turned into mindless monsters and trapped in Liv's fish tank like pets. I might not care a lot about strangers, but no one deserves that, especially not a child younger than mine. She was a mother, after-all, and the thought of that woman harming her son… it gave her more nightmares besides the ones she witnessed.

As if her feet were on autopilot, she found herself sitting on the rooftops of her old hideout.

"I remembered feeling so happy getting to reconnect with David, and his sisters were good for him to keep him safe when visiting." She murmured. "I wish I could tell him the sacrifices I'm making for my-our family, maybe he'd be able to realize where I'm coming from."

Her ears twitched as footsteps shuffled closer, and someone's calm breathing grew closer. "You're either very brave, or very stupid." She faced the stranger.

"Jury's out on either." The raspy-voiced stranger was cloaked in snow-white, with grey and yellow markings, plus a yellow star on their chest. They adjusted their belt as they sat down by the skylight. Momakase couldn't pick out the finer details of the face, they had a cat-shaped mask on with yellow stained glass at the eyes, which she guessed were colored green. "And I thought I was the only feline in town."

That's when she noticed that their suit strangely had a tail, and it was twitching with curiosity.

The chef/mercenary scoffed. "I'm not looking to fight a turf war, or another color coded justice warrior." She flexed her graphene claws, like a feline flashing their claws at an intruder.

"Noted!" They quipped, not fazed at all by the werecat. "I'm no hero or villain anyways, just here to try and make things right."

"Who are you to make things right?" Momakase raised an eyebrow. "You clearly haven't been here for long."

The stranger lifted a gloved paw to the air. "Wrong! I just make myself invisible, I have been here awhile. Not as long as Big Hero 6 though, good heads on their shoulders." They dusted their chest. "Haven't met them, but I bet you know what they're like."

That gave her food to chew on. "They're… interesting to say the least." Momakase noted.

She could kill a few minutes talking to a stranger. It had been awhile talking to an individual that wasn't irritating, vile, or could not reply back. "Make my job harder, but entertaining."

"And they're kind to your kid, so that's a bonus." They hummed, then got up as Momakase hissed. "Chill! I'm not gonna throw salt on the wound or anything!"

"How do you know about my son?" Momakase demanded, was this stranger a spy?

They brushed their helm's ears. "Let's just say I'm kind of nosy."

"So you're a stalker."

They bristled. "Am not! I've just been keeping an eye out for my enemies, they probably won't do anything until the wicked villain in Sycorax is exposed. I hate that lady, she hurt someone… well a lot of someone's who don't deserve it."

The chef/mercenary wondered if this stranger knew one of the victims, or someone caught in the crossfire of Liv's ire. "I take it you saw Sparkles' little act?"

"The fact that people bought it says a lot about this city." They grumbled. "I'd complain but I don't want to bring attention to myself, they would find me."

Who is this they? Judging by the masked feline's expression in their eyes, they were talking about another villain. "You've got a target on your back, don't you?"

"Eh, that might also be you, depends on what your evil boss will do." The stranger shrugged. "She better not try to destroy the city, it'll make their job easier."

So this masked feline could become a foe. Interesting. "Well, I've been itching to stretch my claws for a good fight." Momakase murmured. "That is, if you're a fighter at all."

The stranger said nothing, but pointed to the sheathed sword on their hip. "I know how to use a sword." They tapped their toolbelt and stretched their arms. "Good talk! It's nice not talking to the local pigeons and pets."

"Don't call me a pet."

They blinked. "I didn't." Then it hit them. "Oh. She called you that, didn't she?"

Momakase didn't respond. "Well, I guess she forgets that when you tighten the leash on a pet, they tend to bite." The stranger muttered.

"Mhmmm."

"How come you were chilling here for a bit? Miss your hideout that much?" They asked, curiosity in their tone.

Why not talk about my life story while I'm at it? Might as well vent to this stranger, she was gonna lose her mind otherwise.

"This wasn't just my hideout years ago." Momakase felt her voice grow thick with memories. "It was my family's dojo, until the rest of them forgot our legacy and packed it to Camden before my sisters and I were fully grown."

She was bitter, while not angry at her father's choice at the time, the rest of her family seemed to have traded their spirits as well as their blades. "They weren't interested in rebuilding there, so when I was skilled enough, and old enough, I came back here to rebuild." Alone. The word was unspoken.

"Oooh, family legacy drama." They held onto her words. "Does your son know about this? Is he going to carry on the family traditions?"

"What am I, some stuffy aristocrat?" Momakase rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't force him to carry on the family business, most who weren't part of the dojo were chefs like my mother, or dancers."

The masked feline nodded. "Do you think once you find what you're looking for, you'll contact your family again?"

"If I'm in the mood, last time I spoke with them, they had the nerve to call me crazy for clinging onto a dying legacy." Those words had made her lash out, and she hadn't heard from them since.

"Maybe you can tell your kid's family, they seem like… less judgy people."

She hadn't thought about that. "Perhaps." Then she turned to the masked feline. "By the way, if you repeat what I've said to someone, you'll find my blade to your guts."

"Message received!"

As she was about to hop onto another roof, she gave the stranger one last look. "Do you happen to have a name?"

"Yeah, it's not the name I was born with, that person doesn't exist anymore. "They waved a paw. "You can just call me Kat, I like to think I have a sense of humor." Kat gestured to their feline-themed outfit.

"Hilarious." She hopped off the roof. Kat watched her until she disappeared from sight.

"Well, that was a fun surprise." They murmured, rubbing their helm's shiny ears. "Hope she's alright until the whole Sycorax thing ends, much nicer than I thought for someone that helped a guy try to blow up the city with a star."

"There she is, get her!" Hiro shouted as soon as he saw a black and blue blur.

Momakase thankfully was not the fastest thing alive so Baymax's rocket fist landed at her feet, she tried to backflip away but didn't stick the landing.

"Guess not all cats land on their feet!" Hiro shrugged.

"That is actually not true, it depends on the height of the fall-"

He tapped the robot's shoulder to get him to pause the scientific explanation for now. "I'm feeling generous today, so if you drop the gold Momakase, we'll let you get away quietly." If the others had caught up by now, they would berate him for offering that, as Momakase was more dangerous wandering the streets.

But those graphene claws were no joke, most of them still bore scars from the encounter back on Akuma Island.

Momakase smiled, showing her sharp teeth. "Scared of fighting me?" She murmured. "Makes me wonder what Obake saw in you."

Anger flashed in Hiro's eyes. "Don't bring him up!" He barked. "Makes me wonder why you helped him try to blow up the city!"

"Guess I hit a sore spot." Then Momakase launched at Hiro, he yelped and quickly hopped off of Baymax to avoid her claws. Baymax managed to grab her by the ankles before she could take another swipe at him.

"Violence is not the answer." He warned her.

Momakase was still grinning. "Sounds like something a coward would say." She lifted up her claw, as if preparing to strike Baymax, Hiro's eyes widened in horror, he used his magnets to bring over a piece of debris and launch it at her before she could destroy his friend again.

That got her to land on her claws, bits of dirt now in her air, she lunged again but was blocked by a sudden blast of fire and a disk striking her shoulders.

"You alright?" Gogo skated over to Hiro as Fred and Honey Lemon circled the chef/mercenary.

Hiro rubbed his shoulder, the ultra armor was still damaged from Bessie's blast attack, so he worried about getting into close contact with their enemy. "She didn't get me, Red Panda and I managed to hold our ground."

Momakase overheard and snorted. "Codenames won't help, I already know your identities." She caught a chem ball with her claws, the goo dribbling down her hands.

"Aw c'mon!" Honey Lemon was disappointed that the goo didn't stick, she tried tossing one at her feet, but Momakase hopped out of the way.

"The code names are for heroics!" Fred bounced up to blast her, sending her across the street. "We're not fighting you in our school uniforms!"

He got an eye roll for that quip. "Do you people like saying those cheesy names because of your leader's girlfriend?"

"She's not my girlfriend and don't bring her up!" Hiro snapped, trying to hide the blush on his face.

"Childish taunts now? I expect more action from you, Momakase!" Fred crossed his arms, that got him a kick in the gut for his troubles. Honey Lemon tossed goop to soften his fall before he could hit the concrete. "Ow… I jinxed it."

"Ya think?!" Gogo shouted over, then glanced over to Hiro. "Now what do we do?"

"I got it." He grinned, preparing his magnets, then tossed it onto a wall.

At first, Momakase scoffed at it. "Graphene isn't magnetic." But her claws were pulled in, she was too shocked at first to fight it.

"Well not normally, but twisted and modified graphene does have some magnetic charges." Hiro responded, then turned to Honey Lemon. "Now Chem Girl!"

Using her bazooka, the chemist rapidly fired at the wall, freezing her in place. "We won!" Fred cheered, hobbling over to the others.

"Yeah." Hiro chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Now we should try to find a way to clip those claws before-"

Crash!

The ice shattered as Momakase hopped out of the prison, half a magnet in her hands. "Nice try, Big Hero 6." She was smiling smugly at him.

They all took poses. "Or not." Hiro groaned. "Would you give it a rest?!"

"Hm, nah." She lunged again, using her claws to scrape against the concrete and strike at Fred.

The comic fan didn't see it coming, the fabric of his costume tearing and even revealing parts of the metal underneath. "Well that's interesting." The chef/mercenary stared at the exposed metal with curiosity.

Fred paled, he didn't like that look in her eyes, like a predator about to tear apart and devour a piece of prey.

But before Momakase could lift her claws to try and tear apart his suit's wirings- "Get off of him!" Gogo skated over and knocked her over with her disks.

"Are you okay?!" Hiro approached the scrambling comic fan, checking the torn legs, which was making it hard for Fred to move.

"I'll live, none of the broken parts are bothering me here." He tapped his chest, gesturing to the parts inside the suit.

Baymax scanned him. "He is correct, the damage to the suit is external."

Hiro let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Well that's good-"

He got cut off as Gogo was tossed back over. "Gogo!" Fred's eyes widened in horror as there were nasty puncture wounds on her arms and shoulder.

"Nhhg… it's fine-" She tried to bite down a hiss of pain but the boys could see the hurt in her eyes.

"You need medical attention." Baymax waddled over, pressing down on the wound to prevent it from bleeding any further.

They all looked up as Momakase was chuckling at them. "One of you goes down, and you all fall like dominos." She flexed her claws, which were now tinted red. "And to think I once considered you people formidable foes-"

Crack!

She was cut off as Honey Lemon, equipped in her bunny armor, gave her a punch to the face that sent her reeling. "That was for hurting my girlfriend!" She screeched, sending another punch that made Momakase leap back.

Momakase's mint-green eyes slitted with rage as she tried to slice through the bunny suit, but another punch made her drop the bag attached to her back, the golden contents spilling free and scattering onto the ground.

"I'm so proud." Gogo wheezed, Fred lent his hand as a pillow for her

"Please do not move, you are still bleeding." Baymax told her. "Hold on tight, you are going to be okay."

"Don't worry buddy." She weakly patted him. "Takes more than that to keep me down."

Honey Lemon scrambled back to her girlfriend. "I'm coming!" She grabbed the bandages from her purse, helping to seal the wounds. "It's gonna be okay, I'm here."

Gogo smiled at her care, her hands gently holding the chemist's arms. "Thanks Honey…"

Knowing she was beaten, Momakase quickly grabbed the largest piece of gold and retreated, if one could squint, there was a look of pity in her eyes as she ran away from the heroes.

Hiro walked over to the rest of the broken gold, placing it back in the bag. "We need to return this back to the bank." But he was glancing over to his friend. "But you need help…" He didn't know what to do.

"Give it back to the bank…" She coughed. "I'll be fine-"

"You're not fine! You need to get somewhere safe to rest!" Both Fred and Honey Lemon protested.

The answer came to them as Wasabi came driving with his car. "I'm really sorry I'm late guys I-" He then noticed Gogo's injured state. "Oh my gosh are you okay?!"

"M' fine." She grumbled.

While everyone was happy to see Wasabi, one of them was not. "Where were you?!" To everyone's surprise, Honey Lemon was chewing him out. "Gogo got injured, and we need you here!"

Wasabi looked sheepish as he fiddled with his hands. "I um… was on a date-"

"Seriously?! Was a date with Chris that important to show up late-" Fred placed a hand on the chemist's shoulder.

"Hey, it was bad luck." Fred reminded her. "You have a right to be angry and upset, but don't take it out on her friend."

"He's right, pointing blame isn't going to help anyone." Hiro added.

Honey Lemon sighed, her friends had a point, she shouldn't get angry at Wasabi for things outside of his control. "Sorry Wasabi." She looked up at her friend.

"It's fine." He walked over to where Baymax and Gogo were, helping the engineer to her feet. "Now let's get you back to your apartment."

With Wasabi and his car available to drive Gogo back to the apartment, Hiro and Baymax took the remaining gold back to the bank. The rest of them were in his car, Fred was in shotgun as Honey Lemon tended to her girlfriend's injuries.

"I really need to get over my fear of heights." Wasabi muttered, eyes fixated on the road. If he could tag along with Baymax and Hiro as they flew into action, he'd be able to be there on time.

'Yeah." Honey Lemon chuckled. "It's kind of my fault you have that fear anyways."

"We were dumb kids! Though yeah, you're right."

Fred raised an eyebrow, glancing at the two. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well, when Wasabi and I were little kids, we went up on my house's roof." Honey Lemon explained. "And I dared Wasabi to jump for the tree in our backyard."

"I didn't make it and I broke an arm and a leg." Wasabi winced.

"None of our parents were home so we were both freaking out, a neighbor saw what was going on and called the ambulance." The memory had been scary at the time, but now it was a little silly to look at. "Man, I thought you were almost dying!"

"It'll take more than trees to kill me!" Wasabi teased. "But I did get some cool scars out of it."

Gogo then spoke up. "Speaking of scars, I think this is going to count as one."

All of them winced. "Man, Liv had to give the crazy graphene knife lady crazy graphene claws." Fred groaned.

"We don't have any proof she's behind that though." Wasabi argued.

"Wasabi…" Honey Lemon glared at him.

He sweatdropped in fear of that glare. "Okay maybe there's proof, but can you blame me for being skeptical?" Wasabi argued.

"Because of Chris?" Gogo frowned.

He didn't reply to that.

"I'm sure even if Liv is behind it all, he isn't in cahoots with her or anything!" Fred tried to reassure him.

"But that's the thing, I'm starting to worry." They all glanced at the physics major. "I feel like he's hiding something from me, but I'm too nervous to ask about it because what if that's it? He's helping Liv out in making the monsters?"

They glanced at each other, not sure how to comfort their friend at first. "Well, if it's a worse-case scenario, we'll be there for you buddy." Honey Lemon reached over to give him a comforting pat on the shoulder. "It'll be okay."

"I hope so." He sighed.

He loved Chris, but if his boyfriend was willingly helping out the person behind the monsters… Wasabi shuddered, he didn't want to think about that being possible.

But on his date, when he mentioned the recent gold robbery to Chris, worried about other robberies happening, there had been something in his eyes before telling him strongly to never bring that up again.

Chris has said the whole thing made him uncomfortable, but was he being genuine? Or did he just not want Wasabi to figure him out?

Meanwhile…

Momakase may have brought back gold, but it wasn't enough for the "great" Liv Amara. "You let Big Hero 6 stop you?!"

And she was not happy to hear the reason why she brought back a small amount. "You were supposed to bring enough gold to last for two more weeks, and this isn't even enough for one day!"

Oh poor you, maybe you should use those "investments" you keep blackmailing from Orso Knox to get more gold if you're so hung up about it. Momakase growled, but she didn't sling any insults, less Liv reacted violently for any snarks.

Sparkles had warned her not to… and if he of all people was warning her, then the chef/mercenary knew not to anger their boss.

"Well, at least she brought some gold." Chris frowned.

Liv huffed as she crossed her arms. "True, but getting anymore from that bank will be next to impossible, Big Hero 6 will just get in the way again!"

"Send in Bessie then."

"That brute had delivered the gold in broken pieces like that!" Liv pointed to the broken mount of gold resting on the desk.

Having enough of the complaints over one lousy gold piece, against her better judgement, Momakase spoke up. "Can't you just buy any?"

She got a withering glare in return. "It'll look suspicious to the public, I already told Bluff Dunder I was using a small amount."

"Okay and?" The chef/mercenary wondered why the CEO was so focused on keeping the gold a secret anyways. She had asked Chris, since Liv wouldn't give an answer, and all the assistant said was that it was "a personal thing."

Liv continued with her rant. "So if I'm caught buying more than that, the annoying detective will question me about it! He's already been snooping around at Sycorax!"

"Maybe we should've kidnapped his little brat, she must've snitched." Chris grumbled.

"Well we can't change that now." Liv argued. "Any sudden moves against that kid and we'll get caught, did you happen to find any more locations of gold?"

Chris grinned. "As a matter of fact I did!" His smile was chilling. "There's some more shipments by the docks, trade and what-not."

"Excellent, I doubt the fish will mess up such a simple task as that."

Momakase glanced over to the fish tank, the last time she had heard of those two being sent to gather gold-

She suppressed a shudder. I hope they succeed…

AN: Welcome to this week's update! A little Momakase centric, since y'know we haven't seen her in awhile...

And looks like she made a new friend! Or did she... well Kat's going to stay an enigma for now, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think about them!

I still need to work on writing fight scenes tho, but practice makes perfect

QOTW: What's your favorite thing to happen during a fight scene (feel free to name any examples that goes on in the show)
