"Well Susie, what do you think?" Mum looked at me expectantly. I sighed.
"It's great mum. Thanks." She went to the door.
"I'm glad you like it honey. Dinner's at seven, ok?"
"Sure mum."
She left as I took off my leather jacket and threw it on the window seat. I sighed again and jumped on my four-poster bed, messing up the pink duvet as I did.
It was weird, no ghosts but an old house. I should thank my lucky stars but something's not right.
I went over to the wardrobe to see if anything was hiding in it. Nope. I looked expectantly at the window seat, as if something was about to come. After ten minutes I gave up and went back to my new bed.
New bed, for a new room, in a new town. Carmel-by-the-sea, California, my new home.
I looked at the gorgeous view, the blue waves and Sandy beaches. Yep, something is definitely wrong.
Short, I know but I didn't want to give too much away in the first few chapters.
