Link slowly turned around but he wasn't prepared for what he was to see, it was not anyone he recognized. At least not anyone he recognized and trusted, there was something dark about this man. A cold feeling rushed into his body, he wasn't sure why but he knew what this man was capable of.
"Ganondorf," Volga growled, menacingly.
"Volga," the male said dismissively. "And of course the hero, come to challenge me again boy?"
"I'm no boy," Link barked back. He felt as though he had always wanted to say that but never had been able to before.
"Oh, how different," Ganondorf seemed honestly surprised. "I thought maybe you would be mute this age around as well. Or maybe you chose not to speak before, no matter you are unprepared and unawares either way. I am at my full strength and you are a mere fraction of yours, this time I will end you. Then I will rule Hyrule!" He began to laugh maniacally. Link drew the Master Sword from it's sheath, he couldn't let Ganondorf win. If he was the hero surely he could beat the tyrant here and now, full strength or not.
"Link beware," Ghirahim warned. "He is at full strength but only because he stole power from me." Link gave a nod and rushed at Ganondorf. He was going for a slice when the man noticed and shouted using a gust of magical wind to knock Link from his feet. Crap! He thought as the male wretched him up from the ground. He struggled trying to pry his tunic free of the iron grip.
"You are no match for me," Ganondorf spat into Link's face. Link watched as the Gerudo male turned and twisted him around slamming his back into the broad chest. Ghirahim had tried to rush at Ganondorf while he was distracted but now he pulled up short, his teeth clenched as he could do nothing to save Link. "Ha ha ha, think that you can outwit me? I think not. I am King of the demons after all, Ghirahim once-loyal servant. Your betrayal cut me deep you know.." Link drowned out what the male was saying as he caught sight of Volga edging out of sight, if Ghirahim could keep the Gerudo male occupied he may yet be free or so he hoped. "Do you perhaps have a similar relationship with the weak little mortal that we shared?"
"No," Ghirahim relied. Link was confused by this, what kind of relationship had they had? He thought back to when Ghirahim had mentioned the type of relationship he craved, was that what Ghirahim and Ganondorf shared? Were they once lovers? He felt cold at that last thought and maybe just a little jealous and hurt.
"Then I suppose you won't mind if I break him in," the male replied, cackling evilly. A look of panic crossed the demon swords face, Link felt a thrill of panic himself as his pants were ripped nearly clean off of him. Link kicked desperately, trying anything he could to be free but nothing worked. He heard the tingling of metal behind him and he struggled even more, this couldn't be happening.
"Don't you dare," Ghirahim shouted, summoning a ring of daggers.
"HURT ME and you hurt your current master," Ganondorf warned. Link froze and then there was only pain and darkness.
~:~
"You bastard," Ghirahim growled. He had felt the moment the pain had occurred but then Link went unconscious. He knew it the moment it happened and he knew he could never forgive himself for what this monster was doing to his beloved.
"Oh you did lie," Ganondorf rumbled, obviously getting a sick sense of satisfaction watching him squirm. "Seems you did have relations with this small male, shame you didn't prepare him well enough for me." Ghirahim forced himself to watch, he had to wait in case he got an opportunity to strike. Even then it was painful to watch as the larger male abused what was his, did he truly think of Link as his? Ghirahim couldn't believe how sentimental he had become since meeting the hero, he barely recognized himself anymore. He gave a quick dismissive glance to Volga, soon the other male would be in position and they would have the upper hand. Ganondorf suddenly shuddered to a stop, Ghirahim saw red at that. His beloved did not deserve the defilement he was currently suffering.
"NOW!" Ghirahim shouted. Volga roared throwing his spear, Ganondorf barely had time to react. The monster actually threw Link away from him and dodged the spear, just barely. Ghirahim was a flurry of motion, he skidded to a halt catching his master's unconscious body and teleporting a small distance. Unfortunately the act of even that small distance was enough to wind him but he pressed on, only looking back to see Volga grab the Master Sword and his own spear. Ghirahim ran hard and fast, his feet pounding on the cobblestone below as they rushed the main door that would lead to the courtyard. Ghirahim stopped when he heard a great roar from behind them.
"Here," Volga shouted tossing the sword to Ghirahim. He caught it and hissed as it stung his skin at the very touch. "Get him out of here, I'll buy you some time!" The voice was half Volga and half growled but Ghirahim understood just fine. He quickly raced off to the open main gate and past a couple of redead. Well now he knew why there was no one in the city, he raced past a few more redead monsters before finding a path that was blocked to him. He focused his remaining energy and teleported past the line of bokoblins that had rushed at him. He stumbled but stayed upright, he had to get to the Great Fairy fountain or all would be lost.
He pushed on with purpose running down the great flight of stairs and turning into the great maze, he could feel the hedges moving back into position as he passed. It was almost as though the maze knew of his predicament and wished to help him. Ghirahim made it to the opening and slammed into the holy barrier, gritting his teeth he pushed. He knew that Ganondorf was, even now, making his way toward him and his master. He looked back to see hedges being torn asunder and willed his body to push harder, finally passing through the Great Fairy's barrier. He half ran, half stumbled through the pathway until he reached the fountain. Ghirahim fell to his knees before the purified pool, his legs unable to carry the weight of himself and Link under the pressure of such a pure place.
"Great fairy.. I beseech you," Ghirahim gasped. "Please help my master, help me save him." A voice called out in answer.
"Ghirahim," she said. "I know you are weary but you mustn't rest here. There is a path behind my fountain, where my pure energies do not reach. It is through there that you will find salvation, take Link from there to the Lost Woods. You will meet a guide named Sheik, who will lead you to a safe haven where Link can rest and be restored. I am sorry there isn't anything more that I can do." Ghirahim nodded and forced his body to rise, lifting Link with him.
"It will have to be enough," he replied, he walked around the fountain until he found the cool dark passage she spoke of. It was exactly as she said, the coldness crept in and he could feel himself being restored. This tunnel held the power from the Temple of the Demon King in it's walls, he could feel it's might restoring him. Ghirahim picked up to a run and soon he was free of the tunnel, he was surprised to see Epona there waiting for him. "Epona, your master and mine, he is unwell. Will you permit me to ride you so that we may be free of this place?" The horse sniffed Link then whinnied a bit before bobbing her head and stomping a hoof. He moved forward placing Link onto her back first and when she didn't complain he mounted as well. "Thank you, Epona you shall not regret this." He looked around for any sign of Volga but when the Horse whinnied irritably, he knew he couldn't delay. He called Siear and when the horse stopped before him, he spoke. "Find Volga and.." He didn't finish as the other male suddenly landed beside them, startling Epona.
"I apologize, I delayed as long as I could," Volga said. Then he watched as Ganondorf rode out of the gate nearby, luckily he hadn't noticed them yet. Volga noticed too and quickly mounted Siear. "Get Link out of here, I will find you after I draw him away!" He kicked the horse into action blowing fire at Ganondorf to keep Ghirahim from the monsters view. Ghirahim didn't waste anytime and urged Epona into a hasty gallop.
"Hurry Epona, we must make the wood-line before they see us," Ghirahim whispered. Epona kicked into a higher gear when he said that, she easily cleared the distance weaving around bokoblins that had spotted them knocking them down before they could sound the alarm. Once in the woods she bobbed and weaved around the trees, taking a harder paths as to try and not leave hoof-marks for their enemies to find, he even swore she had retraced her steps more than once before she finally stopped before a forest that was covered in dense fog. Night was falling and he almost missed the figure that appeared from the shadows. Ghirahim leapt down and pulled Link into his arms. "Come Epona," he called turning his back.
"Leave her," The mysterious stranger said. "She will stay out of the enemies reach on her own, it is you and Link that must continue with me into the lost woods." Ghirahim regarded this newcomer severely, he wasn't one who could trust easily and yet this male asked it to be so, asked to be trusted above all else. He felt Epona's nose push him forward and she gave a soft whinny before her hoof-falls ran off and away. He peered back to see her disappearing into the thick forest around.
"Who are you?" Ghirahim asked, turning to face this stranger. A stranger that had been dogging their every move, a stranger he had suspected of being a lackey of the terrible demon king, Demise.
"I am known by many names but the one you may call me is Sheik," he replied, although his voice had an almost feminine touch. "Of the.."
"Sheikah Tribe yes?" Ghirahim finished. "Servant of the Goddess and protector's of the royal family, or to be more specific the guardian of the reincarnated Goddess Hylia."
"Seems you know even more than I," he replied, surprised. "Is the princess really the reincarnation of such a person?"
"I suppose she would have to be," Ghirahim replied. "To continue to have such unique powers that is, the power to seal and the power to destroy evil were a specialty of the goddess Hylia after all. Granted she never could fully be rid of Demise, so she sealed him at first. Shall we get moving however? I fear we shouldn't linger here for long."
"True, follow me," he said walking away towards the path, picking up a torch and lighting it on the way. Ghirahim did indeed follow keeping a close eye on the Sheikah warrior, clearly his own people wouldn't even reveal the true secret to him. So was he a true Sheikah? Or an imposter? He wouldn't truly know until everything was said and done, he only hoped he could trust this male with the life he carried in his arms. The thick fog made keeping an eye on the male tricky as it played many tricks on his eyes, figures large and small danced in the darkness beyond his sight. He knew they weren't real but it didn't stop the fear that clung to his mind as they ventured further into the lost woods. He didn't stray from the path for he knew it would be perilous and might even cost their lives.
The forest held a monstrous darkness that could and would end his existence if he took even one wrong turn. He wasn't sure how Sheik knew the path but he was grateful that the other wasn't leading him astray, the fog however thickened at times making it hard to see even the warrior ahead of him. He would call to the warrior and of course he would call back and slow down for him to catch up, there were many twists and turns in the forest and sometimes even Sheik doubled back. It was then the other really wondered if the male knew the forest as well as he claimed but then the fog cleared and they were standing in a clearing where a large tree stood sentinel.
"This is the Korok Forest," Sheik suddenly explained. "It's a forest hidden deep within the Lost Woods. The pathway to this place is never the same twice so I do not advise leaving this place without a guide."
"And who would guide us from here? That is if we needed a guide," Ghirahim asked.
"Normally the Koroks would," Sheik replied. "Unfortunately they are hiding from you in their fear. Though it's strange, they have not hidden from me and if legend is correct they have never hidden from the hero." The male sheikah seemed quite perplexed, perhaps as perplexed as Ghirahim was that a male sheikah would be named Sheik.
"It could be that they sense what I really am," Ghirahim replied. The male sheikah tensed, it was clear that he had no idea what Ghirahim really was. "So how is it that the sheikah withheld the little tidbit about me from you? Or are you not truly a sheikah?" The male flinched at that, hmm struck a nerve. "No matter I'll tell anyway as thanks for saving my master and I. I was once a weapon for the great demon Demise a very long time ago, he betrayed me and left me imprisoned within the Master Sword. Now I seek my revenge against him but not at the cost of my new Master anyway. I am quite selfish after all, I want to keep my new master for all of eternity." He waited for the sheikah to say something then, anything.
"I see," Sheik replied. "So you are a demon as well?"
"Yes," Ghirahim replied. Sheik began to walk toward the large tree, he followed cautiously as the other led the way.
"There are beds within," Sheik said simply. "Once Link is recovered I will speak with him."
"We have one member missing," Ghirahim spoke up. "As much as I hate to bring him up in conversation I still feel I should as My master and I would not have gotten away without him. But you knew that I'm sure, you have been following us after all." Sheik looked back but didn't reply.

Volga growled as Ganondorf circled around him, he wanted nothing better than to escape this nightmare but he was trapped once again. The crack of a whip and the feeling of the tip biting into his back was a steep reminder of who was in charge in this moment. He could feel the fire welling up from within, wanting to be released. His body remembered this a lot more than he liked, he wished he could forget but that was impossible. Another crack, swiftly followed by searing pain.
"I'll never tell you anything," Volga growled to his tormentor. The cruel laughter rang out behind him.
"Oh I hope so," Ganondorf replied. "It will give me plenty of time to remind you whose orders you follow." The monster came round to glare at him, it was obvious he hit a nerve and that made him grin. A furious expression crossed the other males face and down cracked the whip once more. This time the pain seared across his bare chest and howled from the agony and rage building within him.
"You will regret this," Volga growled.
"We'll see about that little lizard," Ganondorf replied with a grin. Volga growled and lurched forward rattling the chains that held him. Crack and pain seared across his shoulder and arm, this continued for many more moments. He refused to yield and yet he still eventually lost consciousness.
When he awoke it was to a bit of a surprise, one wrist was free and a much smaller form was supporting his weight as they attempted to free his other wrist still caught in the cuff. He planted his feet and stood a bit shakily, surprising the other who started to work faster without having to support him.
"You're awake," the figure noted. He could smell the scent of a woman despite the obvious masking of her face and features.
"You're the one who's been following us," Volga stated. Clack the guff sprung apart and the figure was now staring at him in surprise.
"How did you..?" the woman began to ask.
"I recognize your scent," Volga interrupted. He could hear the heavy footfalls in the halls beyond. She breathed in as though to speak but there was no time. "He's coming, we need to leave now." He grabbed her shoulders and spun her about and gave a push. She nodded and grabbed his arm pulling him along to the wall. She stopped and leapt up into a mostly hidden nook. He stared in shock as she waved to him. He shook his head and using his wings a bit he managed to clear the space between the floor. He struggled a bit to climb as his limbs still felt a bit weak from his earlier torment but she managed to help into the small space before covering the opening. She crawled off ahead of him. The space was large enough that she could crawl through it on hands and knees but he had to slide his bulk along ground. He was just glad the space had nearly unlimited elbow room. He grinned as she crawled ahead of him, at least it wasn't a bad view. He paused as the footfalls stomped just below him and held his finger to his lips. The female looked back but stilled at the signal, shouting could be heard but from the words being shouted he hadn't been discovered missing just yet.
He could tell that the other was furious about Link being missing still. He grinned, at least Link hadn't been found yet, that was the most important bit of information. The footfalls stomped away followed by who or whatever the other had been speaking too but they were heading away from the room where Volga had once been. If they were lucky the alarm wouldn't be raised until they were long gone. Once the sound was gone, he continued to drag himself across to where the female waited. He still wasn't at one hundred percent but that little bit of a rest allowed him to recover some of his strength.
Volga almost felt like he was back to normal, being a dragon his regenerative power was a lot higher than most beings so he was already mostly healed from the earlier torment. The wounds, although a little healed, could reopen if he didn't take some care but he wasn't as worried about that. His first priority was to escape and his second priority to find Link and keep him safe. He wouldn't let these partially healed wounds stop him from getting away. "How close are we to the roof?"
"The roof?" she asked, she was keeping her voice deep. He wondered briefly if it was part of disguise.
"Yeah, if we can get to the roof I can fly us out of here," he growled softly.
"You aren't in any condition to.." she began to argue.
"And you have a better idea that doesn't involve us being caught by bokoblins?" he growled, his questioning harsher than he intended. "If we try and escape by foot I will only slow you down, but if I fly I can use the updrafts to get us a safe distance form here." He had to reason with her, if they wanted to stand a fighting chance.
"And these updrafts happen at night?" she questioned. That would be a snag but not a problem for him.
"I can make my own updrafts," he growled irritably. "The point is we stand a better chance in the air than on the ground, just trust me on this."
"So how did you caught if the air is safer?" she asked. He winced at that, yeah she got him on that one but there wasn't much he could do when there are balls of lightening flying at him.
"Ganondorf can make balls of lightning, as long as he doesn't realize I am gone than we are good," Volga replied. "And as of right this moment he has no idea or I would have heard my name earlier." She looked surprised at that.
"You could hear what he was saying?" she asked.
"Less questions more escaping," he growled. She nodded and moved a rock slab above her before climbing up. He followed only to be wedged between a wall and another wall. There was plenty of room for her to stand in the space without it squishing her shoulders together but her had to sidle sideways to keep from being crushed in the small space. "This was clearly made for smaller people," he growled irritably.
"It was made for the Princess to escape should she ever need to," the female replied in that deep voice she was using.
"Explains a lot," he growled kicking the slab back into place and following her up a set of steep stairs that seemed to lead around some sort of huge tower. At the top the small figure lifted a hatch and stepped out. Volga had to maneuver himself so one shoulder went out first followed by the other he scrambled onto the tilted surface before realizing they were on top of the tallest tower. He grunted as he clambered up to the very top, he unfurled his wings and pulled the female close before angling a gust as the trap door easily closing it with one burst. "Hang on tight, princess." he said before shooting a cone of fire at the roof around them. The immediate updraft lifted them above the clouds, he felt the surprised female clutch him a bit desperately as they rose off the slanted surface.
He pumped his wings and off they glided, he gave a few flaps and a burst of fire ahead and below to stay aloft. He waited until they were over a forest before he finally gave into the agony of his wounds to dip below the clouds.
"Uh, down there," she was no longer masking her voice as she pointed to a rather cloudy patch of forest. He angled himself toward it and they dipped even lower his vision blurred and branches scraped at his wounds as he lost consciousness once more. The last thing he was aware of was the sound of a branch creaking as something pulled it and the wind coming to a dead stop all around him.
She cursed as they dipped lower, he had over done it and now they were going to crash. She grabbed her grapple and looked around, the forest was fast approaching them. She quickly tied a length of the grapples rope around his mid section before sending one end around an upcoming branch that would be above them shortly them trust backwards to pull the remainder of rope taut hooking the one end and swinging her around a lower limb. She cursed as she heard the telltale sound of something solid hitting the branch she had swung around. She landed on the branch stopping both their momentum's almost entirely. She then inspected his forehead to see an angry red wound bleeding profusely. She wasn't worried as head wounds tended to bleed more than most, regardless she wasted no time untying him and propping him against the tree's trunk. She then placed a cloth to the head wound as she inspected the rest of the wounds on his body, three of which had reopened and were now bleeding freely.
They weren't nearly as bad as the could have been but she still needed to stop the bleeding. She carefully secured the cloth to the head wound, before tearing a few lengths of cloth for the wounds that had reopened and then applying them with just enough pressure to slow the bleeding. She couldn't believe he had figured out her secret so quickly, she looked around the area but thankfully no monsters were prowling this close to the lost woods. She then climbed up to unhook her grapple which had dug itself deep into the limb above them trapping it's own rope between it's hooks. She was glad for the other limb otherwise if they had been pulled too far past the branch it would have forced the grapple out of the wood. She grunted as she lay on the limb and pushed the grapple. It was well and truly stuck, maybe thy would have been fine after all. She groaned before wedging her foot between the grapple and the limb giving a mighty push with her feet. A loud crack and the grapple suddenly flung free from the limb dropping her on her tailbone on the limb.
Her heart was racing as she looked down to see that part of the limb sagged a bit but otherwise showed no sign of falling. She let out a sigh of relief before gathering her grapple and climbing back down to where Volga was laying. She rubbed her sore tailbone before sitting in front of Volga, they couldn't stay there forever but she also couldn't carry him through the forest and still find her way. She had almost gotten herself and Ghirahim lost in the lost woods after all. If the wind hadn't shifted so suddenly and the path changed course in the middle of their trek she may have very well gotten them lost in the most dangerous forest in Hyrule. No one knew what really resided in the lost woods, or what turned the skull kids into skull kids but she did not intend to be killed and risen by whatever it was.
"Uh," Volga groaned. "Oh we're alive."
"Barely and no thanks to you," she replied no longer using the practiced deep voice. He chuckled and she shot him a glare. "Your wounds reopened and you nearly killed us, how is that funny?"
"Sorry, it won't happen again," his apology sounded hollow and pathetic as he lay there looking more dead than alive.
"It's fine," she replied turning away. "We need to traverse the lost woods soon, dawn is almost upon us. Once it is here we will go."
"Why dawn?" he asked.
"The lost woods are too unpredictable at night, the pathway is ever changing then never staying the same," She replied. "How did you know that I'm.." she let her voice trail off at that.
"You're scent, that's how I know you're a woman," he replied simply. She raised her eyebrow as she looked him, was that really all he knew. "Don't worry your secret is safe with me." She frowned, so that was all that he knew then, he had no idea she was really the princess. Part of her was relieved but another was perplexed at why he called her princess back at the castle.
"Thank you," she replied. At the very crack of dawn they moved heading into the misty forest, she lit one of the torches and used it as a guide. They easily traversed the path this time and once at the Korok forest she set the torch in a stone basin to extinguish it and helped Volga into the Great Deku tree. She led him to an empty bed and sat looked over to see Link and demon curled up together on one of the other beds. She nearly squeaked in surprise as Volga pulled her down onto the bed with him. "What are you..?' she whispered harshly.
"Please put up with it just for today," his deep rumbling voice, soothed her unease a bit. She sighed and relaxed, slowly drifting off every minute that she lay there.
