The Dark Master Sword

Darkness and Terror

~:~

Spoiler Start

He was in a dungeon of some kind wielding a magic sword the would launch a form of itself as energy, the floor was rather ominous and the beast. He glared at the beast before him, he knew it was the one causing all the turmoil and he had to defeat it. He avoided fireballs and used his swords special ability every chance he got, meanwhile avoiding the teleporting beast. Everything turned dark and suddenly he was in another room, the beast was here too he readied his weapon but it was different this time, this time he had to avoid the weapon that was thrown and whirling about the room. And not only did he have to deal with avoiding fireballs but fire keese as well. He even had to relight the braziers and use arrows to defeat the beast once and for all but just as he was to land the final blow everything went dark once more. Each time he faced the beast alone it seemed the battle evolved as well, the next time he had to use a spin attack.

He wasn't sure of where he was, he knew who he was but nothing looked familiar around him, there was sky all around. It was an unfamiliar landscape, he knew it but he didn't know it and it confused him immensely. His body moved of it's own accord as if what he was witnessing, was more a memory than a dream. He was heading to a city cloaked in darkness, he knew there was a castle there but not like from his world. He froze the redead with a song he recognized but didn't recognize, then continued to the castle. It was floating over a huge hole with molten rock deep, down below. He knew who waited at the top, the ascent was long and arduous. Link fought many enemies along the way and climbed a huge staircase only to reach the room where Ganondorf played a huge instrument, he didn't recognize. The sound was an ominous, haunting melody that raised the small hairs on the back of his neck. The laughter of the menace rang through the room and suddenly it was melting away.

Ganondorf was suddenly before him hovering in the air and they were playing a very dangerous game with a deadly sphere of power the gerudo male had conjured. The other was careless and was hit by the speeding orb, stunning him.

"Link!" the tingling sound of someone he recognized but didn't recognize. "Shoot him with the Light Arrow!" He nodded and brought his bow and powered up his arrow shooting it at Ganondorf. The other male sunk to the ground, now was his chance. He raced forward as everything blurred out of existence, soon he was faced with another variant of Ganondorf, the beast Ganon. The tower had crumbled around them leaving only the platform, the beast swiped at him and he dodged swiftly only to still be sliced across his abdomen. He grit his teeth and sprinted forward, rolling through the beasts legs and swiping at it's tail. It roared and he suddenly got a feeling something like this had happened before.

As the world faded around him he found himself smaller and in another world, this one filled with water. The battles were more intense here, they seemed to come to him all at once. He could see each one play out, how many times had he and this entity fought? The darkness once again swallowed him, he was riding across the plain. He knew Zelda was riding behind him and there in front of them was Ganondorf, no he wanted the memories to stop. Again and again he fought hard and fought on through the ages, with the master sword and the four sword.

Minor Spoilers after here with non-canon dialogue

He thought he would lose his mind as it all came rushing to a final stop, and there he was. "Ghirahim.."

"We've come full circle," the demon whispered. Link knew that wasn't what the demon had said, he stood there helpless as Demise reached for Ghirahim. The hilt came free first, then the rest of the jagged, abuse blade emerged and Ghirahim's being disappeared into it.

"This is it, your destiny." He looked down to the master sword, Fi, then looked to the Demon before him with determination. The landscape shifted and he charged into battle, he would face this enemy invader of his world.

Link woke his eyes blurry and he groaned, then the hunger hit him as he smelled food nearby. He felt weak and groggy, as though he had been asleep for a long time.

"Ghira..him," he mumbled, broken by the dryness in his throat. He felt someone pull him up to sit and a small bowl pressed to his lips. Cool liquid spilled into his mouth and he gladly swallowed it down. The cup was removed and set aside, he took a moment to peer at the demon holding him up.

"I am relieved you are awake," Ghirahim whispered. He looked around, they were alone and smiled before he reached up pulling Ghirahim closer. "Master..?" The soft press of the other males lips soothed him, he wanted to feel the passion but then fear rose up shocking him. Ghirahim pulled back a look of worry on his face, Link smiled and placed his hand on Ghirahim's face.

"Hungry," Link whispered. Ghirahim chuckled at that, his face revealing the amusement.

"Of all the words you could say," Ghirahim teased. "Very well, I shall retrieve your meal and then after we will talk." He frowned at that. Normally Ghirahim was not really big on talking, in fact, he was usually quite the tease. What had happened to change that? He couldn't remember, the only things fresh in his mind was the odd dream he had had. He accepted the plate of food, he smiled as he turned over a few mushrooms, likely grown in the forest, as well as a bit of fruit and meat. He wasn't sure what kind of meat though but as he took a bite, he realized it tasted kind of like a bird, just not one that he recognized. Maybe it was a wild bird of the forest, either way it was really good.

"That was delicious," Link said, once he had finished eating.

"Good," Ghirahim replied, he seemed slightly relieved. "Anyway, we need to talk."

"I suppose," Link responded, looking around. "Wait, where are we? How did we get here?"

"Well after our failed fight with Ganondorf.." Ghirahim began.

"We fought him?" Link asked. He couldn't remember, why couldn't he remember?

"What all do you remember?" Ghirahim asked, with a look of concern.

"I remember," Link began, he thought back trying to recall the events. "I remember going down into the Temple of the Demon King, fighting that apparition and then making our escape but.. I don't remember anything else."

"That.. okay, we fought Ganondorf but we failed," Ghirahim explained. "You were knocked unconscious and I had to get us both, as well as your cursed master sword to safety. I was lead here through the lost woods and now we are at the Korok forest." He couldn't believe that he had been knocked unconscious, still if he had only been knocked out then wouldn't he at least remember just before that? A shooting pain went through his head as he tried to remember, he rubbed it a bit, before giving up the quest for his missing memories. It must have been a hard hit, for it to hurt this much. He also wondered why Ghirahim was avoiding any kind of physical contact, usually the demon was all over him by now. Something strange was definitely going on but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was yet.

"We should get back out there and.." Link began.

"NO," Ghirahim shouted. "I mean no, you only just woke up. You need to recover your strength and heal. At least for today, please." Link sighed, the demon was not usually the voice of reason, well at least not when it came to getting revenge on his old master. Perhaps the other felt he had appeased some of that need, in the Temple of the Demon King. Maybe it had happened when Link had taken the reigns from the specter and severed Ghirahim's ties, to the evil that plagued the land. He remembered some of the battles with Ganondorf. He wasn't sure why but it seemed as though in some of them, the other male didn't even seem like he had wanted to kill Link. Was the other actually trying to kill him then? In one it was an elaborate game with a dangerous ball of power and it definitely was a time when the other was attempting to kill him. There was one time though, when the other male had simply toyed with him throughout his journey and seemed unwilling to strike him down

Then again when the other male went into beast mode, the creature had definitely tried to kill him every time. But as the beast, did he really have the will of his own? or was he acting purely on instinct? Link wasn't really sure and maybe he wouldn't be sure, until he faced Ganondorf again, he would have to pay close attention then. He looked over to see Ghirahim was in some kind of mood, a mood he hadn't really seen before. An image flashed in his mind, it reminded him of one of the last failures. When Ghirahim had looked just like this, it was brief then but now he just looked, defeated. Link walked over to the demon and wrapped his arms around the other male. He grinned when the other gave him a surprised look, then placed his head on the demon's shoulder.

"We'll win next time, I promise," Link whispered. He felt Ghirahim chuckle a bit at that.

"Oh, I have no doubts about that," Ghirahim replied. "Trust me when I say.. I know your track record."

"I know, I remembered," Link teased.

"Oh?" Ghirahim asked. "How much did you remember?"

"Well.. only bits and pieces so far," Link responded. "But in one of those battles, you looked a little defeated but only briefly. Kind of how you looked just now, losing a battle is not as important right now. We will win, I will fight, get stronger and win." He peered at Ghirahim's expression, the other was now smiling.

"So what you are telling me is, you were worried about me," Ghirahim teased. There he is, Link thought. He was glad to at least, have a bit of the old Ghirahim back. The demon just wasn't the same, when he moped around and felt sorry for himself.

"Well you weren't you, so to speak," Link replied. "In fact, you haven't even harassed me once."

"I.." Ghirahim sighed. "For now, let's not.. well let's just.. how do I say this? We have larger matters than intimacy, at this time." Link frowned, he wasn't sure why Ghirahim had chose to sidestep the issue.

"So you don't want to be intimate with me?" Link asked.

"That's not what I meant," Ghirahim replied. "I just mean, that it might be best to not be intimate, just for a little while."

"Why?" Link asked, gently. What was Ghirahim avoiding? He could just tell the other was avoiding something but what? And why? Ghirahim suddenly turned on him, pulling him into a tight embrace. He wasn't sure why but he tensed up almost immediately, his heart rate picked up and he was suddenly very afraid. Ghirahim loosened his grip, releasing Link but he refused to move away. He wasn't going to let this fear rule him, he didn't know where it came from but he had no reason to fear the other male.

"That is why," Ghirahim finally answered. "You.."

"It makes no sense," Link interrupted. "I shouldn't be.. What really happened? What is it that you aren't telling me?"

"I.. can't tell you," Ghirahim replied. "You not remembering is a blessing. I, on the other hand, will never forgive him for what he has done." Link's eyes widened, so something did happen to him but he still didn't remember it. Link sighed, clearly he wasn't going to get anywhere with this conversation and Ghirahim wasn't going to allow him, to continue their journey today. Without intimacy there really wasn't anything else to do, unless he could train. He grinned pulling Ghirahim closer and kissing the demon before getting up, then heading outside of the Great Deku Tree. He wasn't sure why he knew it was the Great Deku Tree, he just did. A slight figure suddenly dropped in front of him, it was the same one he had spotted before.

"You," he said. A memory suddenly flashed before his mind's eye. "Sheik."

"How did you?" the voice sounded more feminine than before.

*Minor spoiler here for OOT..

"We met before, you taught me Bolero of fire," Link replied. "Well not just Bolero of Fire." He only realized that after the fact, he remembered Sheik very well and the other male had been there at key points of his journey.

End Minor Spoiler

"Oh," Sheik seemed at a lose for words. His voice also sounded deeper now, he wondered if the other was altering their voice on purpose. "That must have been a different Sheik. I have no memory of any of that."

"Well he was from a different life," Link replied. "I don't know why but I am remembering all these previous lives, previous moments when I had to save our world."

"I see," Sheik replied. He wondered why this Sheik didn't know about the other Sheik, or maybe he did but had lost those memories. He yelped as he was suddenly dragged away, he looked to see that Volga was there. Volga pushed him, into what looked like a natural clearing. Where the trees did not grow but all manner of flowers and tall grasses did. "What are you..?"

"Sparring," Volga said, suddenly. "You need to be stronger, need to become stronger." Link nodded and grinned, Sheik brought him the Master sword but he opted for a wooden one from the korok's instead. One of the koroks brought Volga a wooden spear and then they began to spar. He was knocked back several times, pushed to the brink of his endurance before Ghirahim took over and he sparred with the demon for as long as he could. He was exhausted to his bones when they finally stopped and when he finally made it back inside, he nearly collapsed onto the bed. Heck Link was lucky he had even made it to the bed, to be honest. They had spent so much of the day sparring, that he hadn't even the energy to stretch. Ghirahim helped him stretch a little while laying down, gently but firmly pushing and pulling as needed. Afterwards, he cuddled up to the demon and drifted off to sleep.
