Percy was on guard duty, and it was boring. His only saving grace was literally, Grace. They had been put on patrol together, which was a nice change. Normally Jason would be over on the east side of camp, in the woods, and not by the water, but tonight Annabeth and Piper had arranged for Percy and Jason to patrol together. It was a calm evening, the water sparkled, and Percy and Jason were relaxing on a bolder by the beach just catching up.
Mr. D was at some meeting with nature sprits in Georgia, Chiron was currently overseeing a field trip to Camp Jupiter, and Grover and the rest of the Cloven Elders were in California fighting wildfires with the rest of the satyrs. So currently Annabeth, Percy, Jason, and Piper were the unofficial elected leaders of Camp Half-Blood for now.
The peace and quiet Percy and Jason were taking advantage of was broken by a young Ares kid. "Percy, Jason! There's mortals at the border!" The kid said out of breath. Poor kid had probably run all the way from the pavilion.
"Have the mortals crossed the border? Are Annabeth and Piper there already?" Percy asked quickly.
"Not yet, but with the mist failing do you think they could?! Piper told me to get you before running that way though," the kid told them looking worried. "Are they gonna find out about us?" Percy crouched down to the kid's level and gave him a small smile.
"Not if I have anything to say about it, now go back to Clarisse and Sherman," Percy told him confidently. "J, let's go." Jason grabbed him around the waist, and they shot into the air as the Ares kid ran back through the woods. They landed next to Piper and Annabeth at the pine tree. There were three black vans at the bottom of the hill, and four people walking up to meet them. Percy felt a slight shift in the air, and placed a calming hand on his boyfriend's shoulder. There was a man with a bow, a red haired woman, a man in a suit and sunglasses, and a tall blond guy in a brown leather jacket.
"What do they want? Do you think they can cross?" Percy mumbled into Annabeth's ear.
"No idea, we'll see," Annabeth mumbled back. Piper was twirling one of her braids through her fingers, a nervous habit that she had gotten from Annabeth. Percy didn't care who these people were, he just wanted them to leave before they found out too much.
"Hi, I'm Steve, this is Natasha, Clint, an-" the tall bond, Steve, started, but was cut off by sunglasses.
"Tony Stark, billionaire owner of Stark Industries," sunglasses, Tony, interjected with a small smirk. "So, where's your adult supervision? We've got a small bone to pick with them." Percy stared at them blankly, then realized that these were the Avengers. He and Annabeth had watched some of the footage of the second Battle of Manhattan, it was honestly lucky it happened just a few days after the war with Gaia, because most of the damage they had caused around New York State got thrown in with the damage from the Avengers.
"Tony!" Steve exclaimed. At the same time Percy and Jason spoke up.
"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm in charge," Percy and Jason both said at the same time.
"Dude," Percy said looking at his boyfriend.
"What?" Jason asked innocently. Percy sighed, this wasn't the time to flirt/fight with his boyfriend.
"Tony was exaggerating, we just want to talk," Steve said braking Percy's train of thought. Percy sighed; the Avengers had obviously found out something about the camp. How much they knew Percy didn't know, but it might be a good idea to find out.
"Talk about what?" Annabeth said before Percy could open his mouth.
"Your powers, who's training you and why," Tony quipped. Percy groaned, of course they'd know everything.
"Pipes," Jason sighed. "Do your thing please, we need to buy some time." Piper smiled sweetly and waved her hand like a jedi mind trick.
"This is just a strawberry farm that has a summer camp, we ride horses and do archery, nothing out of the ordinary," Piper said sweetly. "Thanks for coming by, but you guys didn't find anything interesting and are going to leave now." The Avengers got a dazed look, then nodded and started walking away.
"That'll only give us a few hours at most, we need a real plan," Percy said annoyed. "What are we going to do, we can't get everyone out of here in an hour. And even if we could, where would we go?" Annabeth and Jason sighed. Piper was leaning against Jason, tired from how much charmspeak she had used to get the Avengers to leave.
"This isn't going to end well, I can tell you that," Jason said resigned.
"We've got the Avengers on our case for Hades sakes! They didn't cross the border but that won't stop them from waiting for one of us to leave," Percy growled. "Can't we get a brake?!" Jason took Percy's hand and Annabeth took his other.
"We need a counselor meeting, now," Annabeth said. They all headed back down the hill and Annabeth blew the horn. It wasn't time dinner or time for a special activity, so the head counselors would know that they were needed in a meeting.
