Any explanation was immediately put on hold as House used his cane to push Amber farther into the corner so that he could get around her. Without saying a word, he opened the door between his office and the team conference room before slipping out that door. James exchanged looks with Chase and Amber before all three of them scrambled to follow.

"House," Kutner said as he intercepted the doctor. Even at the fast pace House was limping towards the elevators, Kutner had no problem walking alongside him. "The primary patient has normal calcium levels, which is unexpected as his house is full of carpet cleaners with hydrofluoric acid. But I'm actually more concerned about the secondary patient."

House stopped abruptly to look at him. Giving the other a chance to finally catch up without sprinting. James couldn't remember the last time that he had seen the expression on his friend's face. It was nowhere near the way he had looked when they had confronted him in the office just moments ago.

"What did you say?" House asked, his voice low and dark. James reached for his arms to preempt any possible lash out. House had put so much effort into not being like the man who raised him. He wouldn't want to change that now. Mercifully, House allowed the touch instead of shrugging it off as he tended to do if his emotions were riled.

"The anemia patient," Kutner replied, looking even younger than he was in the face of House's anger. "The blood type is O-Negative, which isn't all that rare, I know, but they have got to be some kind of zebra, or they wouldn't be your patient, so I ran the test for H antigens." Kutner looked a little pale around the edges of his light sienna skin tone. "It was negative."

James dropped his hands as they went numb in shock. Once more he felt like he was going to be sick as pieces tumbled into place. HH blood type was incredibly rare, especially in the United States. Most of the time this meant that there was no reason to test for it. All that the conventional typing test would end up showing was a result of O-Negative, even if that was not the whole truth.

With severe anemia, the first treatment option is whole blood.

"That is not good," James said, instantly regretting letting the words escape. There was no way that House would let that slip by without some kind of comment.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious," House snapped as he continued towards the elevator. "Kutner, bring the necessary medication and equipment to treat AHTR to room 210." He punched to button to summon the elevator. "The rest of you are welcome to follow. I could use the extra hands." He turned to glare at Amber. "You're not allowed in the room."

"Why not?" Amber demanded. "You never explained."

"Because you're blond," House snapped just as the elevator doors opened.
