Hello. Sorry for not updating for the past two week as I said before I am now back at school and I work over the weekend so I haven't really had a lot of time to update. (The title of the chapter for those who may not know is a line spoken by the Witches in the Shakespeare play Macbeth).
On another note anything you recognise is probably from the show as I did pinch some dialogue because I needed it so ya enjoy!
THIS TIME: ARTHUR, MERLIN, MORGAUSE AND THE KNIGHTS RIDE FOR THE ISLE. MORGANA WANTS TO FIND EMRYS, HER DOOM.
Chapter 11: Fair is Foul and Foul is Fair
Morgana left the Isle of the Blest and went back to her hovel. Her mind was occupied on what the Caileach told her. Emrys was her destiny and her doom and her sister was working with him. Maybe she didn't know? What if she told her that Emrys was no friend of theirs considering he was her doom? Morgana was now living deep in the woods away from everyone and everything. She still had a few men on her side and an ally in Camelot. Although she wasn't very fond of Sir Agravaine, he did have his uses to her. Deep down she missed Camelot. It had been her home for so many years and had taken her in when her father had died but she didn't miss Uther or Arthur. She slightly missed Gwen because she was her friend at heart but as her heart turned more and more colder she didn't see the need of friends; just allies. Merlin she loathed. Possibly more than Uther. He had been her friend and had helped her when she first found out she had magic and with the Druid boy - Mordred - but he betrayed her in the worst possible way. He poisoned her. That was something she would never forget and would certainly never forgive.
Sometimes she would miss having Morgause around. She was the only one who actually cared about her - or so she thought. She had list of people she wanted revenge on once she took her place upon the throne of Camelot once again; this time intending on staying there. On the list right at the top was of course Uther for everything he killed so many of her kin, pretended to care for her, the list goes on. Then there was Arthur. He was just like his father, at one point she thought he might actually agree to freeing magic but not now. Some would say because of her but she would disagree. It would be because of their father's hatred of magic. Then of course we had Merlin. The sweet, funny Merlin who always went round flashing that goofy grin at people. He also had a tendency of ruining her plans. Not anymore. She had plans for him if the Dorocha didn't get to him first. Then there was Morgause. Her sister, like many others, had betrayed her and turned her back on her. Their magical fight proved that. The blonde was going to see how she made the wrong choice siding with the enemy. She made her like this. Finally we had Gwen. Now Gwen hadn't done anything... yet. Apart from betray her to free Leon and run to Arthur just like Morgana expected her to it was more what she was going to do. Morgana had to stop Gwen becoming Queen and stealing her rightful place on the throne. She was nothing but a serving girl much like Merlin was a serving boy. Once Arthur has been to the Isle of the Blest to no doubt heal the veil she planned to find Emrys and when she did she would show no mercy. Without Emrys she would be unstoppable.
The knights of Camelot, Arthur, Merlin and Morgause set off toward the Isle of the Blest. After the first day they made it to a ruined castle where Arthur told them to pair off to find fire wood to keep it burning to keep the Dorocha away. The only weapon against it turned out to be fire but it didn't rid it for long. It was getting dark and they could hear the Dorocha shrieking in the distance. They all gathered in the middle of the ruins with a fire going to at least help protect them while they slept however, they didn't have enough to last through the whole night so Merlin and Arthur went to get some more wood. The others just stood and waited only with fire torches to protect them now. Well one torch and Morgause's magic to light a quick fire.
The Prince and servant had been gone a while so they decided to all go look for them with the one torch. On their way to find the two men they came across the shrieking Dorocha as Lancelot wafted his torch in its path before it reached the group packed together. "Come on. We have to find Arthur and Merlin." Morgause said before moving along with the rest of the group. "They might be in here I can hear voices this way." The blonde led them along before they heard the horrid shrieks of the dead. "They're in that room there that's where the shrieks are coming from." Lancelot ran ahead with the torch bursting in through the door using the torch to fend off the Dorocha.
"What happened?" Lancelot asked after handing the torch to Percival. Wordlessly Arthur moved slightly so they could see Merlin on the floor with his back to him. They all ran to him.
"He saved my life." Arthur muttered as they turned him around to see him all icy eyes wide. At first glance he looked dead.
"The Dorocha should have killed him." Morgause told them as she pushed through to check him over. "We need to get him to the Vilia. The waters will help him heal."
"Where are they?" Arthur asked.
"You must go on. Myself and Lancelot will take him. We will have to head in the direction of Camelot giving us a longer journey. We shall catch up with you." Morgause told him before bringing Arthur aside whilst the other knights moved Merlin outside, now getting light, to put him on a horse ready to go. "The only reason he is alive I believe is his magic."
"What are you saying? Merlin's magic is protecting him?"
"More than that. Merlin's magic is instinctual. It's trying to heal him. The Vilia will speed that up his magic won't be able to fight it for long. He wouldn't agree to going to Camelot he would only try to come back."
"Ok." As they walked back outside towards where Merlin now rested on the horse and the knights stood waiting.
"Let me come with you." Merlin mumbled as Arthur came close enough to hear him.
"Morgause and Lancelot are taking you to where you will heal - not Camelot - then meeting back with us." Arthur waited a reply as Merlin nodded after going through that scenario in his head.
"Take care of him. And take care of yourselves." Arthur nodded at the three before they all set off.
The three reached a stream by nightfall and Merlin next to the water. Merlin, who was semi-conscious, moved his hand into the water as it began to heal him. "Lancelot. Morgause." Lancelot whipped his head round at the water that was slowly rising as Morgause smiled at the water. "We bear you no harm. We only wish to help."
"What are you?" Lancelot questioned.
"We are Vilia. Spirits of the brooks and streams. The tear in the veil has upset the balance of the world as you know. Good spirits as well as bad spirits roam freely. But this perilous state cannot continue for long."
"We are meeting with prince Arthur and his knights to heal the veil once Merlin is healed." Morgause spoke to the Vilia as Lancelot looked on in pure amazement.
"He will need the help from all of you."
"Our friend is sick..." Lancelot said pointing to Merlin.
"He is stronger than you give him credit for. The young warlock has great power and a future that has been written since the dawn of time. Do not worry. Even now my sisters begin to heal him. You are both tired. You must rest."
"What about the Dorocha?" Lancelot questioned.
"You are safe here. We will stay with you and protect you through the night."
"Thank you." Morgause replied as the Vilia disappeared back into the water.
Lancelot awoke and looked towards where Merlin should be but he wasn't there neither was the blonde High Priestess. "Merlin?"
"Shhh." Merlin shushed him as he stood on a rock with a pointy stick pointed towards the water. Morgause was tending to the horses. Merlin turned around brining over some fish. "Breakfast."
"You're alive." The knight spoke dumbly.
"Yep. Morgause was right about the Vilia." Merlin smiled as the blonde came over.
"We're going to be better walking the rest on foot. I spelled the horses to go back to Camelot." Merlin nodded in reply.
After eating their breakfast they made their way back towards the direction of the Isle of the Blest. It seemed to get dark quick so they found a little home in the middle of the woods. When they went in the owner had been met with the fate of the Dorocha. They filled the fire thing (AN: I haven't a clue what they're called. Sorry). with fire wood as Merlin used his magic to light the fire as Lancelot just stared. "I'm not completely useless you know." Merlin mumbled.
"This might not get us through the night." Morgause told them. "We should take turns keeping watch. I'll go first. You two get some sleep."
"Are you sure?" Lancelot asked.
"I'm sure. Get some sleep. "A few hours passed and it was sometime in the middle of the night when the fire had gone out. "Lancelot. Merlin." Morgause woke them up pretty quickly. "We have no fire. It's gone out." As if on cue, the shrieks of the Dorocha could be heard and the three ran out of the little cottage.
"O drakon e mala soi ftengometh tesd'hup anakes! Erkheo! Anale tendai gard amasen fulakson!" Merlin yelled to the sky as they ran as gast as they could away from the quick adavancing of the Dorocha only to disappear in the path of fire from the Great Dragon. As the dragon landed Merlin bowed slightly. "Thank you."
"Who's your friend?" Kilgarrah demanded.
"I'm Lancelot." The knight spoke up.
"Of course. Sir Lancelot. The bravest and most noble of them all." Kilgarrah spoke.
"I'm not sure that's true."
"We shall see. For now, there are more pressing things at hand. The Dorocha cannot be allowed to remain in this world. The sundered veil must be restored."
"We're going to the Isle of the Blest now to help Arthur heal it." Morgause told Kilgarrah.
"Indeed. But at what price?"
"I know that the spirit world demands a sacrifice." Merlin answered.
"It demands nothing. It is the Caileach - the gatekeeper to the spirit world - who asks such a price."
"And there is no other way."
"There is not."
"Arthur intends to sacrifice himself to heal the veil. It is my destiny to protect him. You taught me that."
"Merlin, you must not do this."
"Then I have no choice. I must take his place."
"No, Merlin. You cannot do that. Who will protect Arthur then? Morgana is still out there." Morgause scolded him but he paid no attention to her.
"From the moment I met you, I saw something that was invisible. Now it is there for all to see." Kilgarrah told him sadly.
"A lot of what you see, old friend, is what you taught me." Merlin answered.
"It will be an empty world without you, young warlock."
"You're not even going to stop him? His so called destiny is to protect the Once and Future King and if he sacrifices himself now then who will protect Arthur from the battle to come? Merlin's destiny is to kill Morgana. I don't like it but if Arthur is to bring magic back and unite Albion then he can't do that without Emrys. Without Merlin." Morgause shouted at them angrily. Lancelot flinched at her anger. Morgause could feel her magic getting ready to be released so she walked away from them all. "I am going to head to Camelot. Tell Gaius what you plan to do then go back to the Isle of Blest."
"You will be there to protect Arthur." Merlin called after her but it was too late she was gone. Merlin sighed before nodding at Kilgarrah one last time and the dragon took off. The remaining two started towards the Isle once again when they found some ruins with smoke coming from there. "That must be where Arthur and the rest of the knights are."
Ok. That took some time to write. Next chapter (hopefully seen as I'm off school for two week) should be up sometime this week. Thank you all for the support and the love you have with this fic it makes me so happy! Next chapter will be the end of this episode and some Morgana trying to find Emrys. Just a side note; Morgause WILL NOT appear in the next chapter as there will be a whole chapter for her soon! Thanks for readin and reviewin and likin. Until next time.
