A Month Later
"Well, we will start with the new genin. Technically each genin that has done a minimum of eight missions can be nominated, normally of course they would have done more." The Hokage said, speaking to the entire room of Jonin senseis. Yugao, who was not officially a sensei, was speaking for young Kagami who otherwise would have had to wait until a team was open. She was nervous but proud of her student. He had excelled over the two months she had been training him, elevating his skills to a drastically higher level.
Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma stepped forward.
"I, Kurenai Yuuhi, sensei of team eight, consisting of Shino Aburame, Kiba Inuzuka and Hinata Hyuga recommend these three under the name of Kurenai Yuuhi to take the chunin exams." She said making the confrontation sign.
Asuma followed.
"I, Asuma Sarutobi, sensei of team ten, consisting of Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara and Choji Akimichi nominate these three under the name of Asuma Sarutobi to take the chunin exams." He said using the same sign.
"I, Kakashi Hatake, sensei of team seven, consisting of Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno and Naruto Uzumaki nominate these three under the name Kakashi Hatake to take the chunin exams."
Yugao stepped forward, head high.
"I, Yugao Uzuki, sensei of Kagami Uzumaki nominate him for the Chunin exams. I found a team that has agreed to let him participate since you have restricted the ability for people to take the exams alone." She gestured and a man stepped forward.
Hiruzen recognized him as leader of team three. "I nominate my students Kabuto Yakushi and Yoroi Akado, my other student Misumi will wait until next time."
Hiruzen nodded. "So be it."
Iruka stepped forward at that moment, ready to complain as only he could. Yugao rolled her eyes, not at all in the mood to listen to Iruka even if he would end up being right. She had monitored many of the other teams while on her body guards shifts, most were not ready in any way to be Chunin... especially Team Ten, Asuma was a terrible teacher...
Of course, Guy, who would step up after Iruka bitched, was all the more ready to nominate his team. They were all chunin level, in mind and body.

Four days later
"It is nice to meet you all." Kagami said, smiling at the team he would be working with. There were two members he'd be on the chunin exams with, a taller boy with grey hair and glasses and another with dark glasses and a veil over his mouth.
The grey haired boy stepped forward. "It is nice to meet you as well, my name is Kabuto Yakushi. I am the leader of our team. I specialize in medical jutsu as you will see when we start working together."
The other boy grunted. "My name is Yoroi, my skill is chakra absorbing."
Eyes wide, Kagami nodded. "That's a rare power, how'd you get a hold of that?"
"Talent, some people are just born with it... like being a sensor.'
"Speaking of being a sensor, I am a sensor though I have only been training with that talent for a month. I am a kenjutsu and genjutsu specialist, I know four genjutsu so far. I can also use wind chakra to enhance my blade's sharpness. I can also perform above average medical techniques, not actual jutsu but first aid."
"That's good, very good." Kabuto said, smiling. "We can really use you, the second half of the chunin exams here is almost always the same. A trip through the Forest of Death. Having a sensor will make things far easier."
"I hope so... so..., we only we start in a tomorrow morning... we should start training together, some scenarios and whatnot before we enter the exams."
Kabuto nodded. "That would be wise, We would have trained more with you but I was working on some important things in the hospital. Sorry."
He cringed. "It'll be fine... I hope. I guess we should start with direct combat, light and no contact so we can preserve our stamina and chakra, then just run through scenarios."
"Sounds wise to me."

Kabuto felt like a genius, getting his sensei to offer to work with one of the Jinchuurki was a move of pure brilliance. They had heard of the boy's rising talents and he was concerned of a potential threat. He did not want to fail Orochimaru by not having enough information, so he did all he could to put forward as much as possible. Getting information on the boy would only help Orochimaru with his plans to corrupt and sway as many followers as needed to accomplish his goals.
"Yoroi, you can fight him first, I am the healer so I am usually supported."
Yoroi nodded and Kabuto watched, gaining quite a bit of extra knowledge of Orochimaru just from the one battle he saw. The boy was very, very good for his age. This would make his job infinitely easier.
:::
It was nine-thirty and team three stood outside of the academy building. Their strategy was to not give too much away about their abilities, but also not shrink away from a conflict if provoked. Though they would avoid unnecessary fights. They walked up two floors and found a big group of people trying to get past two other genins that seemed to block the room, trying to keep the competition out.
Kagami rolled his eyes, looking at a very bored looking Kabuto and Yoroi as they walked right past it. "What a pathetic Genjutsu, even if I was not a specialist I would not have failed for it.
"Yeah, I mean, everybody with a bit of common sense should know that room 301 was on the third floor, not the second." Kabuto agreed. "But if they are failing that hard, they do not deserve to be chunin."
They proceeded to the real room 301, just one floor up and opened the doors.
Killer intent subtly filled the room, a weak mixture of hate, aggression and bloodlust. Kagami and his team settled into a corner. Kagami closed his eyes, reaching out with his newly developed sensory powers. He shuddered at a particularly foul and potent chakra, almost as great as his own and he was a Jinchuuriki for crying out loud! The chakra oozed hate and bloodlust, it felt odd though a mushy mixture of things.
Naturally, he told his teammates what he sensed. Kabuto frowned. "What could be that strong?"
"I am not sure, but it's so potent I am having trouble sensing any other chakra. It's oozing, everywhere!"
"Can you identify the cause?"
He pointed to where he sensed the chakra, to a red haired boy with a kanji carved into his face. He had no eyebrows, and he radiated malice and boredom all at once. "We should stay away from him... his power is incredible, but it's all warped and wrong, I think he is ill..."
"We will stick together and away from him." Kabuto declared.
Over the next half hour, more and more teams trickled into the room. Naruto caused a little commotion greeting teams seven and ten loudly. Kagami sighed, he loved his idiot brother but the boy was going to get himself killed if he did not grow up! He was a fool to gain the ire of the entire room so quickly, he had none of the power or skills needed to back up his attitude.
"I might as well help your brother out, and the new greenies." Kabuto said before he walked over to the other Rookies. He then offered, as a veteran of the exams, to give them a little head up with his ninja info cards which reacted to only his chakra. That made Kagami frown.
'Why didn't he show me those, we could have made plans to deal with all of those other genin he knows about... moron.'
He didn't have much time to pout though as, after a few minutes, Kabuto was being attacked by a very unnerving-looking ninja with a hitai-ate bearing a symbol he'd had never seen in all his studies. Without a thought he blurred away, using his speed to stomp on the attacker's arm and put a kunai to his throat. "I would advise not attacking my teammate. It makes me homicidal." Like Yugao taught him, through experience, he released his killer intent in waves startling the idiots attacking Kabuto. He was all to aware of his brother's gasp and Shino's amused expression that he saw from the corner of his eye.
"Why you-"
He ground his foot down, snarling however inside he wondered. 'What was that, I could feel the chakra in it, and Kabuto is down with his glasses broken... wind jutsu maybe? It would explain it's lack of physical presence...'
At the last second, when it looked like the confrontation would escalate into an all-out brawl, a commotion at the front drew everyone's attention. The proctors appeared he was drawn to the gruesome scars which marred the tallest man's face, one spanning all the way from his chin and disappearing into his bandana, while the other cut across his whole cheek and looked longer than the length of his hand.
"Alright, you baby-faced degenerates, listen up! It's time to begin, I am Ibiki Morino, your proctor and from this moment, your worst enemy." Everyone oozed power. "First, you candidates you from the Hidden sound, knock it off, who told you could fight? Do you want to be failed before we've even begun?"
"Sorry, it's our first time, guess we are a little jumpy, sir."
"I'll say this once, so listen up. There will be no combat between candidates, no attacking each other without permission from your proctor and even then the use of fatal force is prohibited. Anyone who even thinks of messing with me will be disqualified immediately, got it."
"No fatal force, that's no fun." Some idiot from sound said.
Kagami pulled his foot from the other idiot's arm and moved away, helping Kabuto up. He turned and nodded to Naruto, who turned away stubbornly. He would have been hurt by that, but he didn't have time... it was time to focus on the exams.
"""
A Written Exam. A relieved sigh left Kagami, he knew that this would be better to start with, it would keep the stamina up for his team and that was a golden thing. However, it did the same for everyone else, which sort of sucked so...
'There is no way Naruto will pass this...' He thought smugly.
He was wrong, as once again the Universe saved his idiot brother's ass...
The test ended up being about cheating but thankfully Kagami had been studying everything from anatomy to math to whatever for years and had kept up at it since he graduated so it wasn't too hard. Difficult yes, but not impossible. He didn't even have to cheat, as he noticed literally everyone else trying to ...
'Wait this will have to be about cheating, so few could manage this, it is far beyond most chunin let alone genin! Even the most studious of ninja would struggle! If I didn't do purposefully hard work on random subjects I would never pass and I am not sure I can pass all of these, only like six out of ten... and that's a maybe on two of them... Shit, I have no information gathering techniques or anything but my sensory abilities... this is a huge hole in my arensel! I need to work on this, before or during ANBU. It will be the doom of me otherwise... guess I am a bit more behind than I thought, only focusing on combat... at least I can take the test on my own. Kabuto is pretty damn smart as a medic so he might be good... Yoroi is the only one that I am doubtful of passing...'
And that meant Team 7's fate rested in Naruto's hands, which was oddly entertaining...
But then, Morino-san announced the tenth question, the choice they had to forfeit or stay... which was when Naruto raised to forfeit... only for him to give another dramatic speech that left Kagami sighing. Of course, that was when Ibiki declared that the whole written exam was a ruse and announced that they all passed. Kagami wanted to scream, once again Naruto was passed not out of skill or ability but sheer fucking luck!
Killer intent and chakra oozed from him, several people looked at him in shock, but thankfully a woman burst through the window ( reminding him a lot of Naruto) and the First exam was over...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was fun, exciting and I got to point out a serious flaw Kagami has.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
