A Song of Ice, Fire & the Dead

Chapter 14: Differences Between Dreams & Reality

"So, what happened?" Takashi asked as he looked over at the bloodied and beaten up Aegon. What was more surprising was to see the older boy's head in the lap of Saya, sitting cross-legged, dabbing at his forehead with a damp cloth. Takashi could not help thinking that it was no mere accident how Aegon was injured.

Rei interlocked her fingers together and blew a stray hair out of her face before saying, "We got to your house without much trouble and the doors were still closed. Nothing was damaged downstairs and there had been no sign that your mother came home at all," she said.

Takashi nodded in understanding. He had not expected his mother would be at home during the crisis since she was an elementary school teacher. She would have been at work just before the chaos started. "I kinda figured as much. I was just hoping against the odds," he said.

Nodding in agreement, Rei continued her story. "Saya, Alice and I were in the kitchen finding what supplies we could carry, Ciri was in the next room and Aegon was exploring upstairs. A few minutes later, we heard the sounds of fighting and we ran up to the third floor," she said before she wrapped her arms around herself and shuddered. "It was disgusting! These strange doglike creatures Aegon had killed were lying on the floor. Ciri called them Ghouls. During the fight, one of them knocked Aegon through a glass table and he threw it out the window."

A flash of alarm crossed Takashi's face. "He wasn't bitten, was he?" he asked as he glanced over at the young man who had saved two members of the group's lives, on more than one occasion. Takashi had a feeling these injuries were the result of a third time.

"No!" Rei quickly denied. "Saya was standing by the broken window when Aegon suddenly pushed her out of the way. One of those creatures launched into him and they both fell out the window," she said.

Takashi gaped in shock. "He went out the third story window?" he asked hoarsely.

Rei nodded and looked over at the injured Aegon, concern etched onto her face. "Aegon's tough, but he would never let anyone to know otherwise."

"There's more to Egg than meets the eye."

Takashi and Rei turned around to see Saeko standing there with her arms folded under her chest; her facial expression was one of concern and annoyance. "Aegon is a veritable knight in shining armour with a great sense of chivalry." She then looked over in Aegon's direction and her eyes softened. "However, he can be extremely reckless in regard to his own life in the defence of others."

Placing a comforting hand on the older girl's shoulder, Takashi gave a friendly smile and said to her, "Then we'll have to show Aegon just how important he is to us and see if we can convince him to have more thought for his own wellbeing when it comes to helping those of us in the group."

Saeko nodded with a sigh. "I just hope he realises it before he ends up killing himself."

Kohta leaned back against the Humvee with a yawn and stretched his arms before he looked to hie side. "So, why did you decide to become a police officer, Miss Asami?"

Looking up from the ground at Kohta, Asami replied, "Asami wanted to help people and she felt being a police officer was the best way to live her life."

"Are you happy doing it?" was Kohta's next question.

"Some days are harder than others," Asami admitted as she then gave a bright smile. "But Asami does not regret choosing her job." The young policewoman adjusted her skirt before she looked at Kohta and asked him, "Have you ever thought of becoming a police officer, Kohta? Asami thinks you have the courage needed to do it."

Kohta blushed at the older girl's compliment, shaking his head as he took off his glasses and wiped the lenses clean with the cuff of his shirt. "I could never do the physical stuff, Miss Asami. I'd be more suited to computer-crimes or cyber-security," he said.

Asami nodded in understanding and said, "It is a difficult training experience. Asami struggled terribly, but she never gave up." She smiled at Kohta again. "Your gun is very nice; illegal, but in this case Asami is willing to overlook it."

"I'm just borrowing it," Kohta said with a sheepish smile before putting his glasses back on. "Is there anyone in the city you need to look for, or want to meet-up with, Miss Asami?" he asked. "A boyfriend or family perhaps?"

Asami shook her head and replied, "No. Asami has no family left in Japan anymore and her boyfriend dumped her for doing so poorly in school." Her shoulders slumped as she looked down at the ground forlornly. "Asami was bottom of her class!"

"But you still made it!" Kohta blurted out before he blushed and said, "I've heard a lot of cadets wash out before they even reach graduation, and some fail to graduate regardless. You should be proud that you graduated the course and got the job you always wanted." Kohta blushed at how candid he was being before adding, "And besides, your boyfriend made a huge mistake dumping you; you're pretty, kind and smart. You can do way better than someone like him."

Asami smiled softly as she studied Kohta for a moment. "Asami thinks Kohta is a sweet young man for saying such nice words. She may not agree with him on everything, but she appreciates it." She then gave a yawn before pulling her feet up into the Humvee and said, "Asami is tired now and is going to sleep. Talk to you in the morning, Kohta."

"Goodnight, Miss Asami," Kohta replied with a smile, a blush heating up his face. 'Maybe there's hope for me after all,' he thought to himself as he leaned back against the Humvee and closed his eyes. 'As horrible it is to think, this apocalypse was the best thing to ever happen to a guy like me.'

A decayed, rotting hand narrowly missed pink pigtails before a thunderous boot sent the attached creature tumbling down the flight of stairs. Pulling the smaller girl behind him, Aegon held Blackfyre ready in his hand. The blade of his sword lashed out, carving a deep furrow into the temple of the elderly woman, killing it and sending it falling against the wall, where its head cracked open under the force.

"Saya!" Aegon managed to gasp out as he put a hand to his bleeding shoulder where shards of broken glass were stuck in his flesh. "You have to run. I can't hold out much longer," he said to her. The scene was grim and dozens of Them were closing in on the two.

Tears sprang up in Saya's orange eyes. "I'm not leaving you! I won't leave you behind! You promised you'd get me back safe so you have to run with me!"

Aegon sighed before pushing the girl towards the locked behind them. "I'll try. But if it looks I fail, you have to go without me."

"No!"

Smiling at the incorrigible girl's words, Aegon said, "If this is our fate, then let it be so." Turning around to face the oncoming horde, Aegon coiled like a spring, tensed and ready to launch himself at the encroaching dead. Saya then suddenly pulled on his shoulder sending him stumbling backwards.

"Aegon! In here, quickly!"

Turning around, Aegon saw that the previously locked door had come open despite earlier attempts to open it. "Aegon, hurry!" Saya shouted and she and Aegon threw themselves into the room. Aegon then slammed the door shut; the force sending a middle-aged man backwards into the undead throng. Saya quickly latched the door shut before sliding down against the door and sighed with relief. That feeling was quickly dashed as she saw Aegon fall onto his arse on the floor clutching his wounded shoulder with a groan.

"Aegon, are you okay?!" Saya was beside the older boy instantly, looking at him with worry in her eyes.

Smiling up at her, Aegon replied, "I'm fine, Lady Saya. Just a flesh wound." He rolled his shoulder and winced only slightly.

Saya then looked around at the room and noticed that it was a hotel room. There was an open window leading to a balcony outside giving a view of the city below. A large flat screen TV hung on the wall and a large king size bed rest against the wall opposite the TV. There was also an adjacent bathroom which had Saya thinking there may be some medical supplies she could use to tend to Aegon's injury.

Saya then helped Aegon to his feet and walked him over to the bed. "Just try and rest while I see if there's some medical supplies," she told him as she headed into the bathroom. Searching through the cabinet only turned up some basic painkillers but no bandages to wrap Aegon's wound with. Sighing in frustration, Saya headed back into the room with the bottle painkillers.

"Here, I couldn't find anything else, but this should help with the pain," Saya said to Aegon.

"Thank you, Lady Saya. I appreciate it greatly," Aegon replied as he took the bottle and emptied out two capsules before popping them into his mouth and taking a swallow of water from a water bottle he had brought with him.

With a blush heating her cheeks, Saya then began to unbutton her blouse. Aegon noticed and a blush was creeping up on his cheeks as he watched Saya undress. "Lady Saya?" he asked as he tried not to stare at the young girl's impressive chest.

Saya looked down, focussing on her task. "You're bleeding and we need something to dress your wound with. You know how to treat injuries for others, but you seem to forget you need healing too," she said to him. On the last button, Saya hesitated before undoing it and slipping off her shirt. The cool air of the room gave her sweat slicked skin goosebumps but it felt amazing. She felt herself warming up considerably despite the AC's best efforts.

Aegon blushed as he tried valiantly not to stare at Saya's impressive chest as she sat beside him and began wrapping her shirt around his wound. "Thank you, Lady Saya," he said to her gratefully.

"It was the least I could do, Egg," Saya mumbled in reply as she tied the knot tightly over his shoulder, applying pressure to the site of the wound. "You've done so much for all of us," she said before she looked into Aegon's deep purple eyes with her orange ones. "For me…"

"I haven't done all that much to be honest," Aegon said, finding himself unable to avert his eyes from Saya's. Her gaze held solidly as chains would have. "I've done little more than kill some of those undead wretches when others have done much more," he added modestly.

A soft smile graced Saya's pink lips as she said, "But you have done more than that. You offered your body to protect mine on two occasions and you never asked anything of me in return," she said. "You've acted selflessly and never hesitated when one of us was in danger." Placing her hand on Aegon's left cheek gently, Saya continued with, "While it's frustrating to watch sometimes, it's very noble and endearing of you."

"I couldn't allow anything to happen to any of you," Aegon replied as he swallowed a lump in his throat, his face heating up under Saya's touch. "The world may have turned into a chaotic land of nightmares, but it's only when we have given up on humanity that hope is lost," he said.

Saya closed her eyes and felt a shiver run through at Aegon's words. "Egg…" she breathed out. "You are what gives me hope," she said to him as she bit her lips and inched closer to him.

"Saya… I am just a man," Aegon replied as his heart thundered in his chest. He licked his suddenly dry lips nervously as he realised just how close Saya had gotten to him. "I'm sure anyone else would have…" he tried to say when Saya cut him off.

"But no-one else did, Egg," she told him. Her face was only an inch away and Aegon could feel her words as much as he heard them. "You did." Before Aegon could reply, Saya then pressed her lips to his, gently at first but then becoming more urgent.

Aegon tensed up as he felt Saya's soft silky lips on his dry ones, the sudden contact taking his breath away. He had not expected such a bold, daring move so it completely caught him off guard. The soft whimper that came Saya as she placed her hand on the back of his neck broke down what little resolve Aegon had left. His tongue darted out from his mouth and into Saya's willing one. The honey sweet taste of Saya's tongue was like an ambrosia for Aegon and the excited noises she made only made the kiss more intense.

Pushing Aegon further back onto the bed, Saya straddled his lap as she ran her hand down Aegon's cheek. Despite the end of the world happening, Aegon still found time to sneak shaving in to maintain a clean-cut look. Saya purred out a soft moan into Aegon's mouth as his hands gently slid up her thighs that were to each side of him.

Aegon felt his composure slipping away from him with each passing moment as the young girl straddled his lap. Her skirt was hiked up enough to allow a glimpse of the soft, white cotton beneath. Aegon felt his breath catch in his throat as he felt the soft flesh of Saya's thighs underneath his palms caressing them gently. Saya's hair had come out of her usual pigtails that she wore it in and now cascaded down the sides of their faces as their kissing intensified.

Saya panted for breath with each kiss but her desire to continue tasting the man before her overruled her need for oxygen. She pressed her chest against Aegon's as she let out a soft moan at the feeling of his excitement as her hips rested on his lap. Releasing her hold on Aegon's face, Saya's hands moved undo the belt and button restraining what she was after.

His breathing ragged, Aegon slid up his hands up Saya's thigh, across her hips before resting them on her rear. Purple eyes widened in surprise as he felt the continued feel of soft flesh without the break of cotton. Saya was usually conservative but it appeared she opted for more risqué undergarments today.

Saya moaned into Aegon's mouth as his grip on her tightened, pulling her in closer. Fumbling for a moment with the last button of Aegon's trousers, Saya nearly squealed with delight as the last button came undone in her attempts. She was trembling with nervous energy and her shaking hands had made the simple task infinitely more difficult. Not hesitating for a second, Saya began to pull on the waistband of Aegon's pants and purred in approval as he lifted himself to allow her to slide them down.

The room temperature had warmed up considerably and Aegon felt sweat running down his neck and chest. Reaching up and behind Saya's back, he deftly undid the clip of her already strained bra, pulling the silken garment off the girl who quickly and eagerly complied. The moment the brassiere was removed, Aegon gently cupped Saya's right breast; his thumb gently flicking across the hardening nipple.

Biting the lip of the man teasing her sensually, Saya let out a throaty moan as her hand slid into Aegon's still remaining boxers. Her orange eyes widened in surprise and she used her other hand to remove the remaining material, shifting herself back a little away from Aegon. Saya broke off the kiss and smirked at the confused look Aegon was giving her. Looking down, Saya felt her heart skip a beat, seeing that her hands had not lied or been deceived; she was quite far from disappointed.

Aegon slid his hand up Saya's right side as she inched back and he watched her curiously as she moved all the way back to straddle his knees. Her hands were idle for the moment, but the touch of them was making him see stars. His gaze roamed all over Saya; from her beautiful orange eyes, her full breasts and everything else she possessed. Aegon shook his head in wonder; why did it take the end of the world to find such rare beauty?

With a sultry smile, Saya pulled her hands back from Aegon and unzipped the back of her skirt, slipping it off without breaking eye contact with Aegon. Her nervousness had now been replaced with unimaginable desire that she hadn't thought possible. She wanted nothing more than to feel Aegon deep inside her, but there was something she wanted to try first.

Aegon watched as Saya removed her skirt, utterly fixated by her behaviour. At first glance, he would have thought that Saya would far more reserved and even skittish about such things, but she was proving to be quite the opposite so far. He had heard once heard Ser Rolly say that quiet girls were usually the more adventurous in bed. Once her skirt was cast aside, Saya slid her hands up Aegon's legs and up to his thighs making him tense up and take in a sharp breath of air. As her hands reached his hips, she arched her hips up into the air while her upper body dipped down, giving Aegon and exquisite view of her breasts by his legs and her thong clad ass in the air.

Taking a hold of her breasts, one in each hand, Saya gently placed the hard throbbing length of Aegon's manhood in the valley of her cleavage and slowly began to rub her breasts up and down Aegon's shaft. Aegon gave a groan as he felt the soft velvety feel of Saya's breasts on his throbbing cock and he unconsciously thrust a little making Saya giggle in response. Pressing her breasts firmly around Aegon's shaft, Saya gently moved her breasts up and down, enjoying the sound of Aegon's panting for breath. She could feel the growing heat Aegon's manhood emanated against her breasts which felt incredible against her skin.

Aegon then began thrusting his manhood in time with Saya's movements. The soft feel of Saya's breasts felt amazing on his member and he looked at Saya and saw the pleased smile she had on her lips. As Aegon thrust his manhood in-between her breasts, Saya then flicked out her tongue, licking the head of Aegon's manhood with each upward thrust he made. She could taste the bead of pre-cum that leaked out of Aegon's cock on her tongue. Slowing his thrusts to a halt, Aegon watched as Saya continued to move breasts up and down his shaft, while simultaneously licking the head of his cock with her tongue.

Saya then opened her mouth and she engulfed the head of Aegon's member. Aegon gave a little gasp as he felt the wetness of Saya's mouth and how warm it was. Saya gently sucked on the head and ran her tongue around and she could taste more pre-cum leaking into her hungry mouth. Removing her mouth from the head of Aegon's cock with an audible pop, much to Aegon's moan of protest, Saya then began to take long slow licks up and down the glans of Aegon's manhood. Aegon groaned as he felt Saya's wet tongue ran itself along his shaft.

Saya then stopped licking Aegon's shaft before opening her mouth as wide as she could and took as much of Aegon's manhood into her mouth. Aegon gave a gasping sound and his thighs tensed up as Saya bobbed her mouth up and down his shaft, running her tongue along the length of him as she did, picking up the pace as she went.

Aegon let out a sigh as his hand knuckled the soft pink hair on either side of him. He knew he would not be able to last much longer if Saya kept this up and he whispered, "Saya…"

Slowing to a halt, Saya pulled her mouth off Aegon's shaft and looked up at him with bright orange eyes. She then deliberately licked the remaining saliva from Aegon's member before licking her lips in satisfaction. This got the desired reaction.

Lifting her up her shoulders and pulling her in tight to him, Aegon pulled back Saya's hair with his left hand, exposing her neck and he began to place soft kisses going down to her breasts. His right hand reached down Saya's back to where the back of the thong was. With a twist, he snapped the thin fabric before reaching down Saya's front and pulled the torn fabric up and tucked it into the strap. The thong now resembled a string belt if anything.

Excited by his rough actions, Saya positioned her hips over Aegon's shaft before slowly lowering herself onto him. Despite her initial thoughts, the penetration was much smoother than anticipated; either the saliva or her own wetness had reduced the friction considerably. There was still some small pain Saya felt but the incredible feeling of Aegon being inside her overrode any discomfort. Bracing her hands on his shoulders, Saya bit her bottom lip as she looked into Aegon's eyes.

Placing his hand on her hips, Aegon guided Saya down until he was fully sheathed inside her. They both gave a low keening moan as they joined completely; they stayed still for a moment before Saya began to move. Rising herself up to have Aegon's manhood just barely inside her, Saya lowered herself back down onto him. Aegon leaned up and began teasing her left nipple with his tongue; his left hand had moved to tease the other. Saya's breath was coming in short, sharp intakes of air as she held onto Aegon's shoulders tighter, moving her hips up and down.

Picking up the pace, Saya felt control slip away from her as she bounced her hips up and down on Aegon's manhood. Aegon had started to tease her right nipple with his tongue and his hands had traded off as well. The girl atop him was moaning audibly with each descent she made. The sounds of her pleasure excited Aegon, making the pain of the grip on his injured shoulder an inconsequential thing.

"Oh Aegoooooonnnnn!" Saya cried out, his name rising in pitch as her body shook with an earth-shaking tremor. Feeling her inner walls tighten around him, Aegon placed his hands on Saya's hips pulling her down with much more force as she sped up further.

"Saya…!" Aegon moaned out as he began to reach his peak. His face had a look of surprise as Saya lifted herself off him completely. His unasked question was answered swiftly as Saya repositioned herself, bending over and taking him into her mouth again.

Aegon's gasp and the taste of her own arousal elicited a purr of satisfaction from Saya as she worked her mouth over him rapidly. She could feel the muscles in his legs tighten indicating that he was close and she encircled her tongue around as she looked up into his eyes.

Between the feeling of her tongue, the sight of her naked behind bouncing up and down in rhythm with her actions and the look in her orange eyes finally did Aegon in. "Ohhhh, Sayaaaaa!" he moaned out as he trembled in climax. His gaze never left Saya's as she took all he had unhesitatingly and swallowed it with an audible gulp. Saya cleaned him off with her tongue before she crawled closer and rest her head on his chest.

The door to the hotel room burst open, they both looked into each other's eyes for what they believed to be the last time. Aegon pulled Saya in close, burying her face into his shoulder, unwilling to let her see what would happen next.

"Aegon?! Saya!?" a frantic voice called out.

Looking over her shoulder, Saya froze. Standing in the doorway was the rest of the group; their stares going from her nude form to the man she was pressed up against. She opened her mouth to say something when an icy voice cut her off.

"Takagi…" Saeko's cold blue eyes narrowed into thin dangerous slits as she stalked into the room, her katana drawn.

"Saya!" Aegon's voice called out to her before everything went black. "Saya…"

.

"Saya? Saya…"

As her eyes fluttered open, Saya looked down into the deep purple eyes of Aegon. His head was propped in her lap and her left fingers had been combing through his hair. She then saw the blush on her cheeks and realised her right hand was…

"Ohmygod!" she blurted out as she hastily jerked her hand out from under her hiked up skirt. Her cheeks burned cherry red and her eyes returned to Aegon's whose gaze had not wavered. "Aegon…"

"Good morning, Lady Saya," Aegon said with an embarrassed smile on his lips as he looked steadily into Saya's orange eyes above him.

Her cheeks heating up even more, Saya cleared her throat and said, "Good morning, Aegon. How are you feeling?" She offered him a nervous smile as she thought privately inside her mind 'Oh, god, please tell me I wasn't talking in my sleep. If he knows it was about him?'

Aegon studied Saya for a moment before answering her question. "I'm feeling much better than yesterday, Lady Saya." His smile turned to a more genuine one. "Greatly thanks to you."

"Miss Shizuka and Ciri are the ones you should thank, All I did was follow their instructions," Saya replied but her smile came easier at Aegon's compliment.

Aegon shook his head, making Saya aware that she was still combing his hair with her fingers. "I don't recall them instructing you to sit with me as you have done. Your presence did more than what Shizuka and Ciri could. I had lost enough blood to be weakened but not enough to die. The saline solution just allowed a quicker recovery. It was your actions that made the process much easier." He then winked at her. "You'd make a good bedside nurse. You have an incredible bedside manner," he said to her.

Somehow, Saya blushed even harder at Aegon's words but that didn't stop the giggle escaping her lips. "That's very sweet of you to say, Aegon. But I don't think you'll be too pleased to learn that the others left for the school without you already."

"Left?!" Aegon yelled, startling Saya. "They left for the school without me?!" he asked.

Saya nodded. "They left as soon as I went to get some water." She then blew a stray hair out of her face. "I sorta dozed off when I got back," she mumbled in embarrassment.

In spite of his annoyance at being left behind, a smirk creeped onto Aegon's face. "So you did." He paused for a moment before saying, "Pleasant dreams?"

Saya's face returned to a cherry red as she replied, "That's none of your business!" She looked away with her nose in the air and said, "But yes, it was."

A shit-eating grin was on Aegon's face as he said, "Was I any good?"

Saya froze and gave a gasp; her hand had stopped stroking Aegon's hair as she looked at his amused eyes. "How did you…?" she tried to ask when Aegon cut her off.

"You talk in your sleep, Lady Saya." He smiled at her as she stammered for a moment before continuing. "So?"

"You actually expect me to answer that, Aegon?!" Saya stated as she looked at Aegon incredulously.

"Why not?" Aegon shot back. "It's not as if I don't know what you dreamt of and…" he indicated Saya's still damp right hand with a gesture.

"I can't believe how bold you are, Aegon Targaryen!" Saya turned her head away for a moment before she realised that Aegon wasn't going to let up and she said, "I was… impressed." Her cheeks heated up anew and she averted her eyes. "You were an excellent kisser."

Aegon gave a soft chuckle before saying, "Then I can be assured that dreams are nothing like reality."

Saya tilted her head to the side, her gaze suddenly fixed to Aegon's lips as she revisited the memories of her incredibly detailed dream. Her hands trembled as she began to sweat nervously and said, "They say dreams are an extension of reality. Nothing we dream is completely fictitious."

"Very true, Lady Saya," Aegon agreed. "Which begs the question of what brought upon such an interesting dream?" he grinned cheekily at her.

Saya's eyes were still firmly locked on Aegon's lips as she replied with, "Stress, and being rescued not once, but twice by a handsome hero who has his head in my lap." Her breathing was speeding up in short intakes of air and her heart rate increased. 'How is he doing this to me? Is it because of the dream, or am I really this weak-willed?' she thought to herself.

Aegon blushed but he chuckled as he pulled himself up to sitting position. "I don't quite know if I am a hero, but I've been incredibly lucky throughout this whole mess," he said modestly.

"Lucky? You were thrown out a window, Aegon!"

"And look where it landed me." A coy grin was on Aegon's face as he said, "Here I am in the lap of a pretty girl who appears to have intensely vivid dreams about me."

Saya then swatted him with her hand as she blushed again. "You're a horrible person, Aegon."

"I just look at the positives of this, Lady Saya," Aegon replied as he chuckled good-naturedly.

"Aegon?"

Aegon looked at Saya who was fidgeting with her skirt, looking down at the floor. "Yes, Lady Saya?"

"Would you… would you be against showing me how accurate my imagination is?" Saya asked timidly.

Aegon felt the colour drain from his face. "Uhh… Saya…"

"I didn't mean that!" Saya snapped out as her face went red.

"What did you mean then, Lady Saya?" Aegon asked her as he eyed curiously.

Saya moved in closer, keeping her head low. She was right in front of him before she looked up to meet his gaze. Her orange eyes shined with a nervousness. "I just… want to see if one thing was right," she said breathily, leaning in closer.

Aegon froze up, uncertain of what to do. On one hand, he wanted nothing more than to kiss the sweet girl before him. But on the other, his feelings for Saeko reared up and kept him frozen to the spot. And his concern for upsetting the poor girl who was opening up to him in surprising fashion. 'Gods! Only something like this could happen at the end of the world! Why or when else would I become afeared about the decision to kiss a beautiful girl and upset another?'

Aegon's thoughts were interrupted as he realised that Saya's lips were a mere breath away from his. She had not waited on him to meet her and was coming all the way. Just as their lips brushed, the door burst open and started Saya into moving back, falling on her behind.

"Uncle Egg! You're awake!" Alice's excited voice shouted as she sprinted into the room and slid to a stop, looking between Aegon and Saya. "I interrupted something, didn't I?" she asked in a whisper.

Aegon chuckled, ruffling Alice's hair and said, "You could never interrupt, little one." He winked at her with a wide. "But don't tell anyone what you saw, alright?" he whispered to her conspiratorially.

Alice giggled and made a zipper motion across her lips before hugging him. "I'm glad you're okay, Uncle Egg. No-one got hurt on our trip either!"

"Aegon! It's good to see you're awake!" Takashi looked tired and exhausted but he had a smile on his face as he said, "I'm sorry we left without you, but we could not risk your injuries getting you killed."

Aegon nodded with a sigh. He hadn't wanted to admit the seriousness of his injuries, but he knew that in a fight, he would quickly become a liability to the group. "I'm feeling much better now, Takashi. I owe my thanks to Lady Shizuka, Ciri and Saya's tender care."

Saya blushed, averting her gaze as Miss Shizuka bounced over to Aegon. "Oh, Aegon! It's wonderful to see you awake and sitting up!" she gushed before enveloping him in a vice-like hug; his face being buried in the valley of her obscenely large bust. "We were worried when we left that your face was so pale! But now all that colour is back!"

"It won't be if you suffocate him with your breasts," Saya muttered darkly.

After freeing himself from Shizuka's death-like grip, Aegon fought down the blush on his face. "I thank you for your care, Lady Shizuka." Slowly rising to his feet, Aegon wavered for a moment before steadying himself and saying, "I need to wash up. You said there was water nearby, Lady Saya?"

Saya nodded and replied, "Outside and to the immediate left. It's cold though," she warned.

Aegon nodded in thanks and began to slowly make his way out the door. He did his best to hide the pain he felt for it was tremendous. As he approached the door, Saeko gave Aegon a tired smile and went to make for the Humvee when she suddenly felt Aegon's hand on her arm.

"Saeko, would you care to help me?" he asked her, smiling warmly and gesturing to his back. "I cannot reach without opening some of my wounds," he said.

Looking from him back towards Saya and Shizuka, Saeko nodded and smiled up at Aegon. "I'd be glad to, Egg." In reality, the fact that Aegon had asked her and not one of the other girls had brightened her rather dark day significantly.

Once the got outside and the door swung closed behind them, Saeko grabbed Aegon's shoulders roughly and pulled him into a deep passionate kiss. The moment their lips met, Saeko let out a content sigh, tightening her grip on him. After a few breath-taking seconds of tasting Aegon, Saeko pulled away and looked into his purple eyes. "I was worried about you, Egg," she whispered to him, her sapphire blues searching his. "Miss Shizuka said that if your fever didn't break, you would slip into a coma."

Smiling at the emotionally exposed girl, Aegon ran a hand through her dark, indigo hair. "I'd not let some fall be the end of me," he said to her.

Saeko's smile faltered and Aegon could see she was struggling to keep it on her lips. "You really pushed Saya out of the way, huh?" she asked

"Saeko…"

Saeko put a finger to Aegon's lips, silencing him. "You have a brave and chivalrous heart, Egg. One that holds a genuine care for those under it. I can't fault you for doing something that proves what a good man you are." She cocked her to the side as she said, "Though, it'd be nice if you rescued a male for once."

Aegon grinned cheekily and replied, "I'll tell Takashi and Kohta to be less careful from now on."

Saeko rolled her eyes in amusement at Aegon's jest and moved towards the water station. "Let's get you cleaned up. Takashi will want to go over what happened today with everyone. As you can see, we did not come back with anyone new, but other than that, I'll let him do the talking."

~Earlier that morning~

"It's so quiet!" Rei whispered as she stepped through the open gate. "I don't think anyone is here."

Looking over at Rei, Takashi shook his head and said, "The school had hundreds of staff and students. Not to mention any of the police officers that came from the East Police Station. Your father and my mother could still be here."

Rei smiled and nodded hopefully before looking back at everyone else. Kohta and Asami brought up the rear of the group while Saeko and Ciri were on the sides with Alice and Shizuka in the middle. Approaching the main doors of the building, the sight of dead bodies brought chills to everyone in the group. These were not just the bodies of men and women of everyday life, but children not even in their teens. Despite coming across hundreds of 'Them', seeing children who had been turned was not something any of them wanted to accept.

"It looks like the police made it here after all," Takashi said giving Rei a smile and opening the door slowly. Stepping inside, he gestured for everyone else to follow him in before beginning to make his way down the hallway. A sign above a door read 'Faculty'.

Making their way down the hall, Shizuka clutched Alice tightly to her hip. It wasn't to comfort the child so much as to comfort herself. Despite being historically oblivious to most things that went on around her, the busty blonde nurse had a deep affection for children and the sights in this school were nightmarish.

As she stepped over the body of a middle-aged man in a suit, Saeko looked over and froze, "Ta… Takashi?"

Takashi came to a stop and looked over as well and his jaw dropped at what he was seeing. "Oh, dear god!"

Inside a set of double doors propped open by a corpse was Them. Hundreds of Them, feeding on the corpses of dead people. Children and adults alike tore into the corpses of the dead with a ravenous and insatiable hunger. There were numerous bodies riddled with bullet holes but seeing as some of Them were police officers did little to encourage the group.

"I've seen a lot of things in my life, but this is…" Ciri said with a look of disgust on her face.

"No…" Asami gasped as she stepped forward, seeing the uniforms of friends and co-workers mixed in with the blood-thirsty horde.

Saeko stopped the young policewoman. "It's too late, Asami. There's nothing that can be done about it."

"Asami understands but she didn't think so many wouldn't make it!" Tears were in Asami's eyes.

Rei embraced the older girl and pulled her away. "It's okay, Asami. Just breathe," she said to her. Takashi scanned the room with determined eyes. After a few moments, he let out a sigh of relief and looked at Rei, shaking his head. Their parents were not among them.

"Let's keep moving," he said. "There's still an auditorium where they might've gathered up survivors."

Making their way down the hall, slowly and deliberately as the slightest noise could attract the undead, they soon reached the doors to the auditorium. Rei and Takashi exchanged nervous glances and Saeko spoke to them.

"Are you both ready for this? We may not like what we find inside. This is the only other major area where they could gather," she told them.

Rei swallowed nervously before looking at Takashi and nodded at him. "We have no choice, Saeko. At the very least, we need answers." She gave a hopeful smile to Takashi before opening the door slowly.

Takashi went in first, followed by Saeko, Rei and Ciri. The others remained in the hall to avoid funnelling the exit in case they needed to make a hasty retreat. As he walked down towards the stage, Takashi felt his heart sink; there was no sign of anyone in the room.

Hauling herself up onto the stage, Saeko glanced around before stumbling back and almost falling off the stage as a severed head rolled over her feet. She looked up in time to see a partially decayed teacher rushing towards her. Leaning back, Saeko kicked the teacher in the midriff, sending it stumbling backwards before she drew her sword and beheaded the creature in one swift motion. "We have company!"

Although he heard her, Takashi's attention was fixed to a piece of paper nailed to the stage front. Taking it, Takashi read the note quickly before stuffing it in his pocket. Rei dashed past him, delivering a punishing blow to the jaw of an undead with the stock of her rifle. "Takashi! We need to go! Now!" she said.

Takashi snapped back into action and turned just in time to avoid a clumsy grab. Using the momentum of the off-balance creature, Takashi shifted his weight and flipped the overweight woman over him before bringing the stock of his shotgun down hard onto her face.

Saeko moved like a wraith on stage, cutting down waves of mindless attackers with no hesitation on her part whatsoever. She knew the stakes of this and she would not give in. she refused to as there was still much she needed to do. Side-stepping a grab, Saeko lopped off the arm before taking off the head it belonged to.

Takashi stopped and watched for a moment. The sight of Saeko letting loose her frustrations on the mindless undead was mystifying and it wasn't until a hard elbow to the ribs from Rei that snapped him out of it.

"Saeko! Let's go!"

Saeko jumped down from the stage and followed, Rei, Takashi and Ciri up the aisle and out the door. The moment they made it through, Asami slammed the doors shut and shoved a trophy from the wall through the handles, effectively locking it. Kohta nodded in approval before following the rest of the group as they fled from the school.

Once outside the school bounds, everyone stopped to catch their breath; there was an air of disappointment among the group. Removing the note from his pocket, Takashi read it more thoroughly before looking at Rei with a smile.

"It's another note from your father," he said to her holding the note in his hand. Rei snatched it from Takashi and read it.

"It says they recovered a small group of survivors but they were nearly overrun in the auditorium," she said for everyone to hear. Looking up at Takashi she added, "They're going to try and meet up with a shelter on the edge of the city. There's rumour of a safe haven apparently."

Everyone shared wide-eyed looks with each other; the sound of such a thing was almost too good to be true, but they couldn't help but be hopeful about it. Alice then spoke up, "Can we head back now? I want to see how Uncle Egg is doing!"

Saeko smiled appreciatively at the little girl; in truth she had been thinking along those same lines but was unwilling to voice those thoughts. Takashi then nodded and they began to head back, and Saeko ruffled the pink curls of Alice's hair as she passed. 'You'd better be okay, Aegon Targaryen. As stupid as I feel for having these urges, I dislike being away from you,' she thought to herself.

Petting Zero as she walked, Alice looked around the group with a smile. She loved nothing kore than seeing everyone in a positive mood. Although they had gone another day without meeting their families, they had hope burning in them. Alice couldn't ask for more than that.

As Takashi finished his overview of what had happened, Aegon pushed off the wall he had been leaning against. "I'm happy to hear that you were able to learn where your family may possibly be, Takashi and Rei. I am sorry I was not there to assist in the struggle there."

"It's fine, Aegon, no big deal," Rei replied with a smile at the frustrated older boy. "No-one was injured and your wounds came from a selfless act saving Saya's life. No-one holds that against you on any level," she said.

"And besides, you kept Saya out of trouble," Takashi said as he took a bite of his sandwich. "She seems to be a magnet for it lately." He ducked his head as a rolled up piece of plastic flew past his head.

"So I'm a burden now?!" Saya growled, her orange eyes narrowed into slits.

Choosing his words carefully, Takashi replied, "It was just a joke, Saya. You were the best candidate to watch over Aegon. Alice is too young to respond to an emergency appropriately and we couldn't leave Miss Shizuka behind in case we needed her. And we needed our top fighters in the event something went wrong."

Sighing dejectedly, Saya sat back down. 'So I'm basically worthless!' she thought morosely. 'I'm not medically useful and I have no combat capability. I'm as much a burden on everyone here as I am anything else.'

Aegon looked at her as the others went off to clean up the lunch mess. "You're far from useless, Lady Saya. You are too hard on yourself," he said to her.

"What are you psychic now?" Saya snapped in annoyance, more at herself than at Aegon who was trying to comfort her.

"You're not that good at hiding your feelings, Lady Saya," Aegon replied with a smile. "You've done much for this group and you've done much for me. No-one has forced you into doing anything you've done so far, and thanks to you I am alive and well."

"Are you just being nice, Aegon?" Saya asked as a blush heated her face. "Because if you are, I swear I will kick you!" she threatened.

"I wouldn't dream of patronising you, Lady Saya," Aegon said diplomatically. "If you'd like, perhaps I could teach you how to defend yourself?" he offered.

Saya's face heated up even further at Aegon's offer. "Fine. But not a word to anyone else!" she said. Aegon nodded and walked away, his scent lingering in the air.

Sighing to herself, Saya thought, 'How the hell do you do this to me, Aegon?' she asked in her mind before she sighed and flopped back onto the bedroll Aegon had been sleeping on. Aegon's scent lingered in the material causing Saya to smile to herself as she rolled over to bury her face in the pillow.

'You really are something, Aegon. I just hope that you can stop being so reckless. You're too important to us.'

TO BE CONTINUED…

A/N: there! The fourteenth chapter of this done and dusted! I hope you all enjoyed, especially the spicy lemon in this chapter. Now to clarify, it was a dream! It didn't actually happen! So it was totally okay to go all out with it. And that isn't to say that something like it won't happen in future *wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more, say no more* but who knows?

Anyways, not much to say about this chapter, but we are getting close to the crossovers! How it happens, I'm still working on, but it will involve Ciri, so feel free to come up with any theories or ideas.

In other news, I've been thinking about writing a DC Comics/Witcher crossover, two in fact; one with Justice League/DC Animated Universe and the other with Young Justice. Now I won't use Geralt as the MC, rather I'll use Draco of Maribor/Aegon VI Targaryen from my Game of Thrones/Witcher crossover, mostly because he's more of a blank slate/OC for me to work with. I may set up a voting poll for either idea, but would anyone here be interested in reading either if I do write them? Let me know if you want to see either or both ideas.

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, so I'll just leave this here and see you all in the next one.

Be kind to one another,

Angry lil' elf.
