The inside of the castle was just as big as the outside. The hallways seemed never ending. They would either lead to a giant room or another hallway.
"If one or either of you ever get lost, don't be afraid to ask any of the servants around." Rias would say. "After a day or two, y'all should get a general layout of the castle." Her and her house servants then brought the both of us to another door and opened it. On the inside was a giant bedroom. The room was nearly the size of an apartment. There was a bed that nearly took a quarter of the room on one side. There was a closet wardrobe and a desk set with a lamp.
"This room would be for the both of you. I figured that it would be too much for Shirone to have her own room for now." Rias explained. Shirone walked inside before taking a running start and hops on top of the bed.
"So soft…" she said as she sank into the mattress.
"Seems like she likes it." Rias said. "I'll leave you two alone for the time being. A servant would come by your room later on to bring you to dinner." Rias then left the room with the rest of her servants, leaving me and Shirone to ourselves.
"Lady Rias is nice, meow…" Shirone muffled through the covers and pillows.
"...I guess she is." I said as I took a seat on the edge of the bed. But it's still too early to let my guard down… If things end up like what happened in the Naberius's house, I'll doubt Lucifer would even give us a chance of escaping the Underworld… I thought to myself. Suddenly, I felt something wrapping around my waist. When I looked down, I could see Shirone's small arms around me, covered in a light blue aura. "Shirone… are you using Touki?"
"...I sense you having some negative thoughts, so I thought this would make you feel better." She told me. Well, she isn't wrong. This does feel a lot better than brooding on what had happened. I looked down towards Shirone and rubbed her head a bit.
"Thanks, Shirone. Your older sister really needed that." I told her. She made a slight purr sound as she nuzzled next to me. As long as we're together, I don't have anything to worry about.
"Should we call them out for dinner?" Akeno asked Rias as they were walking down the hallways of the Gremory Castle.
"Maybe in a little bit. They had a long day today. A little rest wouldn't hurt," Rias said.
"I see. Rias, can I ask you another question?"
"Hm? What is it?"
"Why did you save those two?"
"... Because it sort of reminded me when we first met. When you didn't do anything wrong, but the world is just against you for some reason." Rias explained. "Plus, most strays would kill everyone and everything in their way. Kuroka was the only one that didn't. She didn't even attack the main house. I guess what happened in the sub house, she didn't want anyone else to figure it out or let anyone else live to tell the tale."
"Then would it be wise to ask her about what happened there?" Akeno asked again.
"Hmm…. maybe not now. I'll wait for her to open up first." Rias answered. "And if she doesn't, then it's none of my business to butt in."
"Hmm… I guess I see your reasoning."
And so, time has passed on….
