"I was summoned here. My master felt something around here so she sent me to investigate," I told the old man. "I am assuming that boy over there was the one that was trying to make a contract before his death." The old man would look towards the corpse in the snow.
"Ah, I guess he decided to give away his soul to the depths of hell instead of being forgiven. Such a shame…" he said. That's when I smelled it. That toxic smell that the kid had was now all around us. I decided to use a bit of senjutsu to pick up anything that is happening around here, and sure enough, I see a purple haze coming out of the machines that the people surrounding me are carrying. I guess they were also wearing the mask so that they won't succumb to the poisonous gasses. Then I guess when he said "his comrades"...
"Did you kill this boy?" I asked the old man.
"Kill him?" he said, sounding confused.
"Not only that, before he died, he said something about his comrades. What happened to them as well?" The old man would stand there before deciding to answer me.
'They have been sacrificed…" he said
"Sacrificed?"
"Yes. All of them were part of an experiment that I was conducting for the church to create the ultimate warrior to wield the power from God himself. Sadly the boy or his comrades weren't strong enough to wield it. And it would be bad if any word of this was sent to the Vatican or even Heaven, it could spell bad news for me. And I'm not a big fan of seeing a lot of blood, so I decided on another, more simple option." He explained himself. So then this boy summoned me for…
"So Ms. Devil, would you hand over the corpse back to us?" He asked me. "It would be shameful if his body got mangled up if something were to happen."
"... alright. But before I do, let me fulfill his last wish before he died." I told him. Before any of them had the chance to escape, I used the tree roots from under the ground to entangle all of their arms and legs, forcing them to drop their poison devices.
"H-Hey! What the?!"
"I-It's the devil! She's doing this! She controlling these with her magic!"
"S-Somebody stop her! Father Galilei!" The soldiers called out for help.
"Grr.. You… you better release them right now! Otherwise, I'll make you regret coming into the human realm!" The father tried to threaten me.
"Really? Then do so then. If you are an actual father of the church, then you should be able to perform an exorcism to get rid of me," I said as I slowly continued to stretch the roots from their arms down towards their necks, slowly tightening them in the process. Most of them were already gasping for air, trying to claw away at the tree bark or trying to forcefully rip off the limbs. "What's wrong father? Cat got your tongue? Can't speak a single verse from the bible?"
"Y-You… damned bitch!" He muffled through his teeth.
"Close. I'm not a dog. I'm a cat, meow~." I said. With a simple snap of my fingers, all of the tree roots squeezed at the same time. When I retracted them back into the ground, all of the bodies fell onto the snow, lifeless. It was a good thing that Shirone didn't come with. I didn't want her to see me do something like this. I thought to myself. I looked around me to see if they're was any more people around that I missed. I even used senjutsu to sense if there was any life besides the animals that were around. There was one human life force deep in the forest, but it's surrounded by some kind of barrier. I guess it would be worth it to investigate.
"Oh my, what has happened here?" A familiar voice came from behind me. When I turned around, I saw a girl with long red hair wearing a very expensive snow outfit. It was Rias. "Akeno said that you were out gaining a contract, so I decided to check up on you. Turns out a lot more has happened."
"Yeah. See that boy on the ground? He's the one that summoned me," I told her while pointing towards him. Rias walks up to him and touches him gently.
"I guess he died when he tried to summon you," she guessed.
"No, he was poisoned. Turns out that he was a part of some kind of project that even the main forces of the church didn't even know. I guess his comrades let him escape while sacrificing their lives."
"I see. I guess you also know about this too," she said.
"About what?" She picked the boy up out of the snow, brushing his hair out of his face.
"This boy… he has a Sacred Gear."
