Author's Note: Yes, hello hello. It's the writer of this What-If. It's been some time since I posted something, but after moving and working, I'd never had enough time to sit down and write something. But anyways, here's this chapter. Currently putting the What-If Raynare turned Good story on the back burner for now. Enjoy
"He's possessed?!" Miki exclaimed at the top of her lungs. Her, Gorou, and I were back downstairs in the living room. After what they're son had told me, it only made sense that his body had been taken over by something.
"Sadly yes, but not by any demon or cursed spirit. If he were, I would've purged it by now, then the only thing that would be left in him is the little cold he has which I could get rid of with ease," I explained. "But whatever is inside of him is making the fever stronger than it should regularly be."
"But do you know what kind of thing is inside of Issei?" Gorou asked me.
"No, I do not." I told them. "I've never felt anything like that during my entire life. All I know is that it was beyond human and demonic." Not only that, it sounded sentient as well if it was able to speak to the boy. "But I do know someone that could probably help us. They should be on they're way here now."
"Eh? You know someone that could help?" Miki asked. "Who are they?" I was going to answer her, but a familiar power caught my attention. The room begins to glow bright red as a magic circle appears next to the door. Who came out was both Rias and her older brother, Sirzechs.
"Huh? Wh-Who are these people?" Gorou asked as he got up from his seat on the couch. Sirzechs just smiled at them as he bows towards them.
"Hello there. I'm sure that bowing is how one is introduced to another in this country, no?" He said.
"Well, yes—Wait, hold on!" Gorou was trying to reassess what was going on.
"Oh, I guess you'd rather have my business card instead? I'm sure that I should have one on me somewhere…" Sirzechs said as he began digging around his pockets.
"Brother, I don't think all of that is truly necessary," Rias said. "Please excuse my brother here, it's been some time since he has been to Japan." She walks up to Miki and Gorou. "I'm assuming that you two are the ones that summoned Kuroka, right?"
"Uh-huh… And you are?" Miki asked her
"I'm Rias Gremory. Her master."
"Ah, I think I've seen this before…" Sirzechs said as he examined the young boy's body. "Tell me Mr. Hyoudou, have you done anything before this?" Sirzechs asked him
"Huh? I mean I was at work when he started showing symptoms of this. I thought that since he usually tends to stay up late–" Gorou begins to explain but Sirzechs would cut him off midway.
"I'm talking about anything before him," he said. "A sickness of this calibur isn't normal on any mortal beings."
"What do you mean? What kind of sickness does he have?" Miki asked.
"He has something called the Dragon Flu," he said. "And as in the name, only dragons can get this type of disease. Some of the basic symptoms are the inability to breathe fire, loss of immense strength along with other things. Usually this doesn't get this bad, but since your son is fully human it transformed into something a bit more lethal than what it should be."
Both Gorou and Miki looked confused at what Sirzechs had just explained to them, but I guess that explains the ki I was feeling earlier. So a dragon spirit has possessed this boy's body.
"So let me ask you again, has either of you done anything for this to happen?" Sirzechs asked Gorou and Miki again. The couple looked towards each other before Gorou eventually spoke up.
"I may have something to do with it… although I didn't expect anything like this to happen to him," he said. "It was a couple of months before he was born. We went through multiple miscarriages for years. When Issei was still inside her, I went to this shrine and prayed that he'll come out okay. Everyday, I go to the temple. Even when it snowed so much that I couldn't even see, even though I had to go barefooted through it, I still went to the temple. And after all of that, around mid-April he was born. All of his tests came back and said that he was completely fine." Sirzechs would nod his head after hearing the story behind the young boy's birth.
"I guess that explains a bit…" he mutters.
"How so?" Gorou asked.
"...Basically, your son has obtained a gift from God himself. Turns out that this gift has some kind of dragon essence within it as well. It's the main reason for his current condition." Sirzechs explains to them.
"A gift from God?" Miki asked.
"Yes," Rias answered. "Although it doesn't seem like it now, it would become something incredible in the right hands."
"For now, we do have something to slow down the process of the flu," Sirzechs followed up. "I'll have one of my servants bring it here for you," he said as a magic circle appeared in front of Gorou. Within a few seconds, a long black box would come out of it and land in his hands. "In that box is the medicine in the form of a syringe. There should be three dosages for whenever it would spike again."
Both Miki and Gorou were speechless. The first one who would do something was Miki, who just started to cry and hugged Sirzechs. "Thank you… Thank you so much…" she said while weeping in his chest. "I…I….!"
"We thought that we would have lost another one," Gorou followed up. "And after so many years as well. If we lose this one… I'm not sure what we would do… Thank you… all of you…" he then bowed towards Sirzechs and Rias.
"We're just fulfilling a simple wish. There's no need to thank us," Sirzechs told him. "But we are a business, so I need you two to do something for us."
"Of course! Anything!" Miki said.
"Alright, all I want you to do is watch over the boy for us," Sirzechs asked them.
"Watch…over him?" She asked him.
"Yup, just for the next couple of years. We'll take that as payment. You think that would be fair, right Kuroka?" Sirzechs asked me.
"Eh?!" I exclaimed. I think that my ears nearly popped out of my head.
"Well, they summoned you mainly. I think you should be the one to decide if it's fair or not," he said. "Me and Rias are here to help."
"B-But–"
"I think it's fine, Kuroka." Rias said. "But allow me to add something into this contract," She then walks up to Gorou and Miki before pulling out a small piece of paper out of her pocket and giving it to them. "If it is not too much trouble, I would like for the both of you to look into this place for your son's future. I believe he'll have more opportunities here than anywhere else in Japan."
"Kuoh Academy?" Gorou reading off from the paper.
"It's just a simple recommendation," she said before walking towards her brother. "But we must take our leave. Let's go home, Kuroka."
"Ah, yes ma'am." I said while following her. The floor under us begins to glow before the magic circle teleports us away back to the clubroom. I wonder if Shirone had a better job with her first client.
