Dear Journal,
I should have cleaned my desk better after I got home from patrol, but I went straight to bed. I want to find my lucky charm bracelet to school and there's a dance coming up and I thought it would be fun if Marinette both wore ours to the dance. Gulp, I still have to ask her, Journal. I ate a bowl of oatmeal, then it was time to go to school. No bracelet, though. I have time, but I feel like something's missing. I carry her bracelet with me everywhere even as Cat Noir.
When I got to school, Marinette was sketching away, coffee cup perched next to her. "Hey," I tell her as I set my bag down by my seat. "What are you drawing?" "Adrien!" Marinette gets flustered and I grab her coffee cup before it can slosh all over her. "Thanks. My trying to design a dress for the dance but I'm coming up empty." "Would you-" she looks at me and my voice squeaks. "Would you like to go with me?" "I'd love to, if I can figure out what to wear. Arrgh, there's the bell." I place a hand on her shoulder. "Don't sweat it, Marinette. You look beautiful in anything," and do I blush.
Thankfully, the lesson starts and I can see Plagg looking at me from inside the bag. He's quiet, but does that mean he's thinking of jokes? The morning passes by quickly as I have tests this morning, so I push the dance to the back of my mind.
I can't help smiling when I walk into the back courtyard though. The sky is a baby blue and there's a crisp feeling in the air. Suddenly, I get a idea for Marinette's dress and I run back inside to transform into Cat Noir.
When I come back outside again, she's leaning against the old oak tree. "Princess!" I run up to her. Oh, wait. I can't tell her about my idea. She told Adrien, Not Cat Noir. Still, I'm relived when she asks for suggestions. "You could do an autumn leaf dress." She smiles and springs up, giving me a hug that almost knocks me off balance. "Your the best Kitty ever!" she sings. I laugh lightly. "I'm your only Kitty, Princess, unless there's something you'd like to tell me?" I cross my arms and pretend to look serious. "Well, I do need to tell you something," Marinette says, linking arms with me. "Oh, so you did get another bundle of fluff? I'm going to be very jealous, love." Then I give her a kiss on the cheek.
"Adrien asks me to the dance, but I want you to come as well. I mean-" I give her a nod. "I think you should go with Adrien. But don't worry, I'll find a way so I get a dance with you."
"You want to get us some coffee while I'm in the craft store? I know you get bored in there." I tip my hands like its a scale. "Hmm, being bored or getting coffee. Are you sure this isn't just some ploy so I buy you coffee?"
I'm surprised when Marinette pulls me into the shadows of alley. "I'll give you a kiss if you do," she grins and before I know it, her hands are in my hair and my arms around her waist. Her lips are perfect and sweet, with just a hint strawberry breath. Finally, we pull back.
Grandma Gina was right, I think to myself as I watch Marinette walk into the store. I am in love. I order our drinks and when I'm ordering, I softly touch my lips with my hand. Her kisses do things to me, Journal.
It smells amazing when we get back and Mama Cheng said she was making autumn squash soup. "I'll let you know when its ready, dears," she says and I follow Marinette upstairs.
I flop down on the rug spread out in the middle of the room, thinking she's going to get right on with sewing but she doesn't.
She sits down next to me, and starts playing with my hair. Before I can stop it a rumbling purr comes out of my chest as Marinette's nails scratch the back of my neck. I close my eyes, she makes me feel peaceful.
She snorts with laughter when I pretend to jiggle my leg like dog, when you find its favorite spot to scratch. Its such a lovely sound. "I wonder if the same thing would happen with you?" And Marinette lays down.
A little bit of her tummy shows, and I can't help looking. Marinette is so beautiful, its hard to tear my eyes away. Yep, your in deep, Agreste. No more "she's just a friend" you hear?
She looks up at me, giving me silently permission and I lay my hand on her warm stomach. A little giggle escapes her lips, and soon were cuddling.
"Marinette? Cat?" I look up from the chaise awhile later. "Is supper ready?" Marinette clutches my waist like she doesn't want to leave her comfy spot. Either do I.
Its late when we finish dinner and Mama Cheng and Papa Dupain go downstairs while Marinette and I do the dishes. "Cat, do you have feelings for me?" Marinette asks quietly. "Because I thought the only girl you loved was Ladybug. I'm confused." "She's not the only one. Yes, I do have feelings for you, Princess. I just wouldn't want to get in the way of Adrien." Right now, I wish I could rip off my mask and tell her Adrien is right here in the room with her. "I like you too, Kitty. Love's complicated, isn't it?" "Sure is."
I'm lying awake writing now, because I can't sleep. Its not like I have to choose today, but I feel confused, Journal.
I know two things for sure. I'll go to half the dance with Marinette as Adrien, and the other as Cat Noir. The other is I could really use that Lucky Charm right now, for I could use some help in the love department.
