Chapter 2

Narcisa POV

It has been three months since I was transported to this world. And in that time I have discovered some slightly terrifying things. One, I am somewhere in Romania. Two, it is the year 2001 early spring, since Oana and Anton don't own a calendar I am unsure of the month. Three, my child's body seems to be affecting me mentally. On more than one occasion I have acted like I am actually a 5 year old. Not to mention this body is way smaller than a normal 5 year old. Four, I am pretty sure I am in the Resident Evil universe. That last one is what is really worrying me. How I found this out is when Oana was teaching me about the village. She happily showed me the small altar for Mother Miranda behind the house. That day I nearly had a panic attack as I stared at the picture of Miranda. Oh how I had hoped the name was just a coincidence. But as my sapphire blue eyes locked onto the chipped wooden tablet, it felt like my soul left my body. That cursed mother mary wannabe priestess's painted form made me feel sick.

"Stupid chimken!" I yell in romanian when one of the stupid birds pecks my hand while collecting eggs. Anton lets out a chuckle from behind me. I pout up at him as he ruffles my hair a bit. "Gandpa bird is mean!"

That is another thing, they tried to pull a fast one on me by saying I was actually their grandchild. If I was actually a little kid I would have instantly believed them. They insisted I call them Grandma and Grandpa. I get the feeling they are doing this so the other villagers don't question where I came from. One of the first things they did was begin teaching me Romanian. Anton knew enough english to help explain things, but he couldn't speak full sentences in english. Surprisingly I was able to pick up speaking Romanian pretty quickly. Some words I have trouble with, but for the most part I can speak and understand it well enough. Reading it, on the other hand, is a whole nother story. At least I don't have to pretend to have a child's level of reading like I have to do with speaking. When I speak I make sure to mess up on words I shouldn't know. That is why I call Anton 'Ganpa' and Oana 'Ganma'. They both seem to love the cute way I speak. Something has begun to worry me as the days go by. I find myself having to fake a child's speech patterns less and less. Those 'child-mode' episodes seem to have affected how I speak as well. Even if I wanted to speak like an adult again I find it nearly impossible now. Still have my adult brain thankfully, so there's that at least.

"That just means it likes ya, kiddo."

"Biting bad though, right? " I tilt my head to the side as I ask this. My long hair falling over my shoulders as I do.

"Yes, but this chicken pecks the people it likes."

"Anton, Narcisa, it is time to go to the market!" Oana calls from the house.

"Shop time! " I squeal excitedly before rushing back to the house. My excitement isn't fake when it comes to trips like this. Don't get me wrong, the little farm is great, but there is nothing to do other than chores. And the dreaded loom work Oana is forcing me to learn. She is also teaching me how to sew and cook. Anton has been teaching me all about faring when he has free time during the day. They both were very hesitant to take me outside of the farm at first. Which is understandable when you think about it. Before I was allowed outside they started telling the neighbors that I was being sent to live here. Not sure what they told everyone entirely but I can guess the jist of it. A week after I showed up Anton snuck me out in the middle of the night. Then pretended to be just returning with me the next morning. Oana has made me some clothes that were less fancy then the ones I was wearing. Apparently my clothes made it seem like I was from a family better off than the elderly couple. I now wear a simple blue dress that is nearly identical to the ones kids wear in the skyrim games. But the bottom half of the dress is a dark blue instead of white.

Before we made it to the first neighbors house on the way home, he told me not to speak. That we were playing a game with everyone where we have to pretend to be very sad. I did as told and acted all shy and sad as he introduced me to anyone who asked about me. One younger woman that was clearly pregnant wanted to hold me. But I clung to Anton and whimpered when she reached out to me. She looked worried at my reaction but Anton said something that made her relax. This woman I later found out was my milk donner. Her baby wasn't due for another few months but she was already producing way too much milk. So after meeting me she and her husband had come over to offer Oana and Anton a jar of breastmilk. This had apparently been where all the milk they gave me was coming from. Which made it obvious now why neither adult would drink any. I didn't find this out until one day I had to go with Oana to get some of said milk. Yeah I ended up puking up my breakfast when I found this out. Why my dumb ass didn't question it I have no idea. They didn't own a single damn cow or goat.

"Ganma I got eggies!" Oana smiles down at me as I hold up the two eggs I had gathered. She carefully takes them from me and places them in the basket she is holding.

"Thank you dear, now go get your cloak and gloves. It is far too chilly for you to be without them."

"Otay!" Within seconds I rushed inside the house and grabbed my small faded purple cloak. Yet another thing Oana was kind enough to make for me. She even made giant pockets on the inside that I have filled with seemingly random things. On the way out I grab the ribbons I had been practicing my sewing on. Shoving them in one of the pockets as I walk back outside. ' Best to have something to do if things take too long like last time. ' When I get outside Anton has already brought out the small wagon we use to take things to market. Oana is helping tighten the horse's harness straps.

"Ganma I ready."

"Are you really dear?" I giggle when she holds up my gloves for me to see. Guess they got left in the wagon from when we last went out. "Silly girl." She teases before helping me put them on, Anton then lifts me up onto the seat of the wagon. Oana climbs up to sit on my left and Anton sits on my right. The sound of the reins cracking makes me flinch as the wagon jerks forward. And so began our quiet trip into the main part of the village. Along the way we pass a few people that call out variations of good morning. I remain quiet around anyone but my new grandparents. This is the best option until I am able to speak romanian better. As a child I can get away with mispronouncing things, but I still want to be cautious. There is no telling if Mother Miranda is lurking around. And with her shapeshifting ability it is best to treat everyone as if they are her. Even Oana and Anton.

'I hope they are both really them….' The wagon goes over a large bump that nearly knocks me out of my seat. Thankfully Anton was able to grab me before I fell though. For the rest of the trip Oana holds me in her lap for safety. .

"We should report that cursed bump while we are in town. "

"I'll talk to some of the guys about it after we sell everythin' today." The two of them continue to talk as they begin to unload the wares we brought to sell. Most of it is wool and vegetables from the farm. But there are a few blankets and clothing that Oana had made. I even contribute by selling the handkerchiefs I make during sewing practice. The women in town all seem to love the designs I embroider along the edges. Some people have even told Oana that I should become a seamstress when I grow of age. Considering all the other things I could have been stuck with, a seamstress job isn't so bad to consider.

"Narcisa dear you can go play with the other children if you like. Just be sure to be back before the market closes." Anton says in his gruff voice after we have set up our stall. He kneels down in front of me while digging in the small satchel tied to his belt. "Here." He hands me five small coins that I carefully place in my coat pocket. "That is some of what ya earned selling yer rags. " Oana smacks his arm lightly at calling them rags. He and I share an amused look that has Oana grumbling about troublesome children.

"Thank you ganpa!" Standing on my tippy toes I give him a kiss on the cheek. "I prom...promise to be good. " Both of them give me loving looks when I struggle to say the words. After giving each of them a hug goodbye I head off to where the village children normally play. I take my time walking through the market area. My bright blue eyes looking around at all the stalls and shops with childlike fascination. Unlike the game from my world this village is actually pretty large. It is still small enough to go unnoticed by the outside world though. And I have a feeling that Miranda is part of why that is. 'Wouldn't surprise me if she had connections outside of the village that keep the village under wraps. Specifically an overly large man named Duke.' When I pass a food stall I can't help but stop to look. This stall is a small candy shop that has amazing handmade treats. The woman running it is actually a good friend of Oana's, and is one of the only people I relax a bit around.

"Star lady!" I call out running over to hug her around the legs. The woman instantly knew it was me just by the nickname I called her. When we first met she gave me some candy shaped like stars. And in a moment of childlike manor I blurted out the nickname. She has been Star lady ever since.

"Narcisa, where did you come from, you silly girl?" She reaches down to tickle my sides making me giggle. "Here to sneak treats again are you?"

"No, I gots money dis time!" My hand reaches into my pocket to pull out three of the coins Anton gave me.

"Oh?"

"Here miss Star lady!" She holds out her hand to accept the coins, a small smile on her lips.. "You weren't kidding, huh. Well pick what you want, little flower. " Nodding, I turn to pick out a few treats for myself. Star laughs softly when I instantly grab one of the bags with flower shaped candy in it. They are honey flavored and definitely my favorite candy she makes.

"Can I pwease have that one to?" I ask, pointing at what looks like caramel on the top shelf of the cart.

"Of course you can sweetie." Star grabs a handful of the caramel treats to add to my bag of honey candy. "And here is your change. " I shake my head when she tries to give me two of the coins back.

"Uh-uh. Star lady can keep it. "

"Why do you want me to keep it?" Suddenly feeling a little shy I stare at the ground. Digging my shoe into the soft dirt as I mumble out my reason. "Sorry love but I didn't hear you clearly."

"You keeps it for all the other candy. I oweded Star lady." Before she can reply I run away and quickly disappear into the crowd. Once I am far enough away I stop running. Giggling to myself as I pop one of the honey candies into my mouth. Placing the rest of the yummy treats in my pocket for later.

'She is totally gonna stop by the house later if she doesn't stop at Oana and Anton's stall today. Now where am I?' Looking around I find myself in a seemingly abandoned play area for kids. There is an old swing set, what looks to have been a sandbox, and a rust covered jungle gym thing. The whole area is overgrown with weeds and smells like wet moss. "This wrong place…" I mumble to myself as I hesitantly make my way down the barely visible path. Against my better judgement I follow the path into the forest. The further I go the creepier things seem to get. Fog even starts to carpet the area, sending a cold chill down my spine. All around me are nothing but tall pine trees that are covered in snow. The trees thick foliage casting dark shadows everywhere. Eventually I make it to the end of the path, and what I see makes me freeze in place. There at the end of the path is a doll dressed all in white. It's face has a moon and sun pattern carved into it, and it is currently staring me down. It is cradling a bouquet of yellow flowers in its doll is floating in the air and seems just as surprised to see me as I am to see it. 'Thats Angie isn't it….And if she is here then that means I'm in 'her' territory. ' As I stare at the floating doll my brain starts to switch into full child mode. Cursing in my head as my body seems to move on its own towards the doll. Any warning my adult self would give is pushed to the back of my mind. 'Ugh. Why did it have to be Angie I meet first.'

"Dolly?"

"Urk!" Angie jerks backwards a bit when I speak. Her large white eyes look at everything but me as I come closer.

"How dolly fly?" I ask with childish wonder once I am only a few feet from her.

"Uh...magic?"

"Ma..gic?" My brows furrowed in confusion as I say the word. "Wha that?" Something snaps a twig behind me and I turn to look at it. But nothing is there and when I turn around Angie has disappeared. A frown forms on my lips at the doll's absence. "Dolly gone…Now how find home?" Angie didn't even stay long enough for me to ask for directions back to the village. Looking around I notice another path on the far side of the clearing. I would have missed it if there wasn't one of those yellow flowers on the ground near it. Shrugging my shoulders I head down the new path. Stopping to pick up the flower along the way.
