Jack: Ridley, the Cunning God of Death of the Space Pirates.
Emma: And Rayquaza, the Sky High Pokemon Master of the Weather Trio.
Jack: Nintendo has given us a lot of dragons with their own unique aspects. But these two lived up to their status as "gods". Who gets to live another day? Let's find out.
Emma: For this battle, we'll only be using their abilities in their own respective series so no Super Smash Bros stuff are being analyzed. He's Jack Andros and I'm Emma Nemetrix.
Jack: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE.
Ridley cheats death once again on DEATH BATTLE
(Vs. Ridley - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
Jack: Samus Aran has faced plenty of enemies as her time with the Galactic Federation and lone bounty hunter. From . But there is one rival that has haunted Samus in her time, her sworn rival Ridley.
Emma: As a young child, Samus experienced a horrific tragedy when Ridley raided the colony K-2L with army of Space Pirates. Though she survived, her parents and all other inhabitants weren't so lucky and she was left as the sole survivor. This experience led her to become a bounty hunter and Ridley's archnemesis.
Jack: Samus would inevitably defeat the Space Pirate in their first bout, but as Samus learns, Ridley is hard to put down permanently. We've covered his abilities in Vilgax VS Ridley so we'll summarize it up.

Emma: Ridley prefers close quarter combat which is why he has sharp claws as well as teeth and his prehensile tail to stab anyone that gets too close. He can camouflage himself and can fly at long distances.
Jack: He can also an insane healing factor that allows him to regenerate down the the bone, even going as far to devour human flesh to enhance the process. But his strongest attack is the Plasma Breath, which can almost annihilate anything it comes into contact with.

Jack: Ridley has destroyed a mountain with his Plasma Breath while on a planet with gravity 960 times heavier than Earth's and survived a planet exploding in his face worth 4.18 Zettatons of TNT. He has outran Samus' spaceships, which travels at 10 millions faster than the speed of light.
Emma: Ridley is tough enough to take a hit from the majority of Samus' weapons, including her Ice Beam and Power Beam. The Ice Beam is powerful enough to freeze a star's surface and the Power and has come back from the dead multiple times, although half of them require outside help.

Jack: But of course, even a God has faults. If someone attacks Ridley while he charges his Plasma Breath, he can injure himself. And he has only two victories over Samus out of all their fights, even with his Meta and Omega forms Ridley still loses a lot.
Emma: His healing factor is also not instantaneous and requires time to do so. And though he's called the Cunning God of Death, whenever Ridley gets focused on a fight, which is literally ever time he does, he abandons all common sense and fights like a feral animal.
Jack: But even then, Ridley has proved time and time again why he's Samus Aran's greatest and most persistent enemy in Metroid.
Ridley knocks Samus into her ship which begins flying as if to escape. However, Ridley flies up and charges his Plasma Breath, which he fires at Samus and her ship, engulfing them in a large explosion.
Rayquaza Dragon Ascents on DEATH BATTLE
(Rayquaza Battle Music - Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire)
Jack: 3,000 years ago, during Hoenn's primal age, the world was overflowing with natural energy from there, two Legendary Pokemon were born. Groudon, the Continent Pokemon who raises the land and bring droughts. And Kyogre, the Sea Basin Pokemon who raises the sea and bring floods.
Emma: Groudon and Kyogre have fought each other for that same energy, creating natural disaster in the process and resulted in the creation of the Hoenn region. The world suffered from repeated droughts and floods as their unfathomable power clashed. Many feared would they could destroy the world if nothing was done to stop them.
Jack: But in the midst of their battle, a third Legendary Pokemon would arise: the Sky High Pokemon, Rayquaza. His own power proved more than a match for rulers of the land and sea, and quelled their feud, causing them to retreat. And since that fateful day, many people would praise Rayquaza as he would watch over the world should Groudon and Kyogre awaken to restart their battle.

Mega Rayquaza form
Jack: Rayquaza's Ability, Air Lock, negates any weather effects on the battlefield. His Dragon Claw is a deadly close combat attack which his claws powered by draconic energy. Extreme Speed is where he attacks in an extreme fast pace and Ancient Power allows him to throw magical rocks at the foe.
Emma: Rayquaza seems to specialize in breath attacks which is why he has the likes of Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, and Hyper Beam. Dragon Pulse generates a huge shock wave of draconic energy from his mouth and Hyper Beam is where he he fires a huge energy beam. And with Dragon Ascent, he flies up the sky before attacking at very high speeds.
Popup: A Pokemon must rest after using Hyper Beam, yet Rayquaza had been able to fire multiple Hyper Beams without exhaustion and use Ice Beam in the movie "Destiny Deoxys".
Jack: Oh, we're not done yet. You see, Rayquaza can tap into the power of Mega Evolution without the assistance of a trainer and transforms into Mega Rayquaza. This form boosts all of Rayquaza's stats up to eleven and has a new Ability called Delta Stream.
Emma: Delta Stream allows Mega Rayquaza to affect the weather itself and remove all weaknesses from it's Flying Type attribute.
Feats
Tied with Mega Mewtwo for the highest Base Stat Total of any Pokemon: 780 (This outclasses even Arceus who only has a base stat total of 720, despite Arceus being the creator of the Pokemon universe)
Mega Rayquaza is the only Gen 6 pokemon that is in the unique 'Anything Goes' tier in tournament play; a tier so high that it is basically banned from any tournament.

Jack: Rayquaza has repeatedly been shown to handle both Groudon and Kyogre at the same time and even one-shot them in their Primal forms as Mega Rayquaza, has overpowered Mega Charizard X and Meta Megatross and Rayquaza has equally fought on even grounds with his rival Deoxys in all of its forms. Deoxys is fast enough to reveal the galaxy in 10 days while carrying the Grand Meteor Delta. Travelling at speeds about 6 trillions times FTL.
Emma: Speaking of Grand Meteor Delta, Rayquaza used a Hyper Beam to destroy it otherwise it would've destroyed the planet. Based on the size of the meteor and the energy needed to destroy it, Rayquaza delivered an output worth 896.53 Zettatons of TNT. Deoxys also matched Mega Mewtwo X who in turned has fought 50% Zygarde and base Necrozoma, the latter who has absorbed all the light in Ultra Space, an interdimensional space.
Jack: And since some Legendary Pokemon scales to each other, it's likely Rayquaza could rival Necrozoma in power.

Emma: But Legendary Pokemon or not, Rayquaza has weaknesses. Being a Dragon/Flying Type means he's weak against, Rock, Dragon, Fairy and Ice Type moves, with Fairy being outright immune to Dragon and Ice dealing 4x damage to Rayquaza.
Jack: And despite its strength, Rayquaza was somehow easily overwhelmed by robots. Not to mention using Dragon Ascent lowers his Defense and Spec. Defense with each use. And he's not dumb, Rayquaza still relies on instinct so a more stragetic opponent could outsmart him.
But even then, Rayquaza is a force of nature to be reckoned with. As the master of the Weather Trio, this is one Legendary Pokemon you wouldn't wanna mess with.
Rayquaza descends between Groudon and Kyogre before letting out an ear-piercing draconic screech. The screech pacifies the Continent and Sea Basin Pokemons as they retreated underground.
With his job done and the world no longer threatened, the Sky High Pokemon gave a victorious roar and ascends once more and disappears into the sky. The rains and earthquake stopped as the sun shines brightly.
Jack: All right, the combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Jack and Emma: It's time... For a DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Petalburg City, Hoenn
(Heir to the Skies - Brandon Yates)
Many Trainers and Pokemon alike are seen running or screaming in fear as the Space Pirates invaded the city, killing anything they see. A building exploded in flames as it collapsed on itself. From the flames, Ridley is seen cackling as he gains flight and sees the destruction all around him.
Ridley: Yes! Kill them all!
He charges his Plasma Breath and obliterates the another building, the explosion killing unfortunate civilians nearby. He then spots a small family trying to escape and swoops down in front of them, prompting them to stop and stare at the Cunning God of Death
Ridley: Well, well, well. More humans for me to kill!
He raises his tail in position to spear through them. The father held his screaming wife and daughter close to his body in a vain effort to shield them. But before Ridley could make the kill, a draconic screech is heard above. Everyone gazed up into the skies and watched as a green, serpentine body descends from the heavens and fires a huge white energy beam from his mouth, annihilating multiple Space Pirates at once. The humans below recognize the creature as the Sky High Pokemon; Rayquaza!
Trainer 1: It's Rayquaza!
Trainer 2: We're saved!
The people cheered as the Master of the Weather Trio stops his descent and angrily screeches at Ridley, sensing he is the one responsible for the mass murder. The family of three quickly escapes as the Cunning God of Death and glares at the Pokemon and takes flight towards him.
FIGHT!
Ridley: Die!
Ridley fires a Plasma Breath as it sails towards him. In response, Rayquaza opens his mouth to launch a devastating Hyper Beam. The two breath attacks clashed for a second, but to Ridley's shock, the Hyper beam overwhelms his Plasma Breath and blasts through his side. The Space Pirate roars in anger and pain as blood spills from his wound.
Rayquaza wastes no time and attcks with Extreme Speed, slamming his head into Ridley's chest as he knocks him away and out of the city. Ridley recovers and angrily at Rayquaza.
Ridley: I'll fucking kill you!
The Sky High Pokemon screeches and fires another Hyper Beam, but this time Ridley swerves under the energy beam and latches unto Rayquaza and immediately begins scratching his body with cuts and bruises.
Rayquaza screeches and tries to shake the Space Pirate off him, but Ridley isn't let go and he begins to attack even harder. Angered, Rayquaza twists his body and slashes at Ridley with Dragon Claw, scoring a direct hit to his head before letting out a very high pitch screech, using Hyper Voice. Ridley screams in pain as the attack forced him to let go.
The Weather Trio Master retaliates by lunging forward and delivers a painful Crunch on Ridley's shoulder, earning another cry of pain as the dragon carries him up to outer space, away from the people of Hoenn and into his own territory. Ridley roars in anger as he charges a Plasma Breath and lands a solid hit on Rayquaza's body. Rayquaza releases his bite on the Space Pirate as Ridley gains some distance. His wounds are slowly healing but the Pokemon screeches as he's done not with the Cunning God of Death.
Ridley: You'll regret messing with me punk!
Ridley opens his mouth for his signature breath beam, but Rayquaza had the faster reaction and fires an Ice Beam to Ridley's mouth, preventing from unleashing his Plasma Breath. Ridley panics and scratches his face as it reminded him of Samus' own Ice Beam. Rayquaza closes in and launches another Hyper Beam in Ridley's face. He screams in yet more pain as the blasts severely damaged his body.
But Ridley wasn't going do die so easily. He fires another Plasma Breath into Rayquaza's own face and the Sky High Pokemon screeches in agony as he reels back from the attack. Ridley uses the opportunity to stab his tail the Weather Trio Master's chest, causing him to spit out blood Ridley stabs him repeatedly.
Rayquaza rotates his tail and performs Twister which knocks Ridley Back before using Ancient Power to sent Ridley plummeting down to Earth. Deciding he had enough of the Cunning God of Death and sees he was becoming a more serious threat, the Sky High Pokemon ascends further into space before descending via Dragon Descent.
As the Cunning God of Death recovers mid-flight from Rayquaza's attack, he glances up and sees the Sky High Pokemon descending very rapidly. Ridley's eyes widened in shock as his opponent is enveloped by a green light as he seems to grow in size. When the energy dissipates, Rayquaza Meg Evolves into Mega Rayquaza!
The Sky High Pokemon then struck Ridley's side, this time it, tears of his left arm and wing as he plummets to the ground screaming in agony. He launches another Plasma Breath at Rayquaza but he serves around the beam and fires another Hyper Beam, this time blasting half if Ridley's lower body to oblivion.
Ridley screams in even more pain as blood flew everywhere. Rayquaza lunges and uses Crunch to hold the Cunning God of Death and tossed him up back into space before unleashing a powerful Dragon Pulse that swallows the Space Pirate up.
Ridley: NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Ridley screams for one last time before a huge draconic explosion engulfs him and annihilates him. Mega Rayquaza closed his mouth and inspected the battlefield. When he confirmed that Ridley is dead for good, the Sky High Pokemon rears his head back and let out a victorious screech over the self-proclaimed Cunning God of Death.

* Mega Rayquaza Dragon Ascents back to Hoenn and begins massacring the Space Pirates.
* Groudon, Kyogre, and the Regi Trio arrive to help Mega Rayquaza drive them off.

Emma: Well, that's another L for the Cunning God of Death.
Jack: Ridley's ferocity and ruthlessness made him a formidable adversary, and his healing factor made him really hard to be put down. Sadly those are the ONLY advantages he has against Rayquaza that delayed the inevitable. Ridley's Plasma Breath may deal some serious damage, but he's more of a close combat type of fighter, which is a disadvantage against the Sky High Pokemon who held a lot of moves that keep him at bay.
Emma: Rayquaza also has more options for long range such as the Hyper Beam, Ice Beam and Dragon Pulse which he can spam repeatedly. And on the occasion Ridley does get in close, Hyper Voice, Ancient Power and Crunch and more can repel him from dealing too much damage to Rayquaza.
Popup: Ridley doesn't spam his breath attack the way Rayquaza does and would be force to rely on his claws and tail, which Rayquaza could easily avoid thanks to his body shape.
Emma: Both have MFTL+ speeds shown as Ridley outran Samus' ship and Rayquaza keeping up with Deoxys, who travelled the galaxy. But whereas Samus' ship took six months, Deoxys flew in just 10 days. Compared to each other, Rayquaza is over 600,000 times faster than Ridley's best.
Jack: Ridley could survive a planet exploding in his face worth about 4.18 Zettatons, but Rayquaza obliterated the Grand Meteor Delta which could've destroyed Earth which clocks around 896.53 Zettatons. That's 214.5 times stronger that what Ridley could tank and that's even before accounting Mega Rayquaza, which increases all of his stats.
Emma: But wait, Jack. Samus fought Dark Samus who survived Aether's destruction and Ridley has bested her twice. Isn't it reasonable to scale Ridley to her?
Jack: We can, but even then Rayquaza still has him beat. Rayquaza could content with Deoxys, who'd matched Mega Mewtwo X in a fight. In turn, Mega Mewtwo X could fight 50% Zygarde and hold his own against base Necrozoma, who has absorbed all the light in Ultra Space.
Emma: By light, it basically means all of the energy that a star has ever made, even after it has reached its destination. This means that Necrozma's base form is capable of Galaxy-level feats. Meaning Rayquaza can be comparable to base Necrozoma and again, all of that excludes Mega Rayquaza.
Jack: Ridley wasn't going down very easily, but Rayquaza's power, speed and abilities allowed him to take the win over this Space Pirate
Emma: Rayquaza just took this Space Pirate's final Breath and got Rid-ley of him.
Jack: The winner is Rayquaza.
* The connections between Ridley and Rayquaza is that both are iconic dragons from their respective series created by Nintendo and are considered rivals to humanoid aliens (Samus Aran to Ridley and Deoxys to Rayquaza). Both are known for their iconic breath attacks (Plasma Breath and Hyper Beam respectively) and considered by gods to many.
