Inspired by the baseball scene at the end of Sonic 2
"It's another lovely day here in Hurrican, Utah! I'm your excitable announcer... Sun!" Exclaimed the sun based animatronic from behind a table that has a microphone resting on it. "On the mound acting as pitcher is exercise enthusiast... Glamrock Chica!" The white chicken does a few stretches to get her arms loose. Being worn over her left hand is a baseball glove. "This is going to be so much fun!" She said with an excited smile on her face.
Sun continues on with the rollcall. "Acting as the catcher is the star of the band... Glamrock Freddy!" The robotic bear was crouched down behind home base wearing the catcher gear to protect himself from any ball he might miss. He lifts the mask up and simply waves and then pulls the mask back down. "Standing at center field is none other than the speed demon herself... Roxxane Wolf!" The female wolf flips her long hair with an aura of confidence, "Racing or baseball. It doesn't matter, for I am the best." Everyone proceeds to roll their eyes. "Stepping up as batter is the powerhouse known as... Montgomery Gator!" The alligator walks into position and then does a few practice swings with the metal baseball bat. "So, it's kind of like golf. I just got to hit the ball to score." From behind he heard Freddy tell him he also has to run on all four bases, and he can't let the ball tag him or he's out.
"But folks we're done yet. As we have two players who aren't animatronics. At shortstop we have our equally short child... Gregory!" The brown-haired child did not like he was just called short, "I'm still a growing boy! Just you watch, I'll be tall in a few years!" Glamrock Freddy gives Gregory a thumbs up. "Standing at third base like a guard is the Pizzaplex's very own head of security... Vanessa!" The blonde crosses her arms over her chest and looks at the green gator. The two make eye contact with each other. Both staring intensely. Vanessa holds up her left thumb, only to then turn it upside down. Monty growled, seeing this as a challenge.
"Let's get this started! Come on Chica, give me your best shot!" Exclaimed the gator to the chicken. "Ok! Here it comes!" She reals her arm back and then pitches the baseball at a high speed. So fast in fact Monty couldn't register it. It flew past him like a white blur. Hearing it smack into the leather material of GF's glove. "Strike one!" Shouted the bear as he threw the ball back to Chica, who caught it. "Ooooh! And the first strike of the game has been called! Can Monty hit the ball on the next pitch, or will he get a second strike?" Said Sun into the mic.
Shaking his head to get out of his daze. He speaks in a defensive tone. "I wasn't ready! First time playing." Monty gets back into the batter pose and stares at the ball in Glamrock Chica's hand. Not taking his eyes off of it for a second. Watching as his fellow animatronic real her arm for another fast pitch. He firmly plants himself into the dirt, determined to hit the ball.
Once the white sphere with red stitching was tossed towards him again at high speeds. Monty waits for the perfect moment to swing the bat. Once the ball got close enough, he deemed fitting. The gator swings the bat. For a brief moment Monty felt resistance against the blunt object and then heard a metallic tink sound. Which meant he hit the baseball. Monty watches as it fly's through the air, towards the outer field. Quickly he drops the bat and runs towards first base. "Ha! Now watch as I bring it home!" He shouted with a cocky smile.
Out in center field, Roxxane runs after the ball while extending her gloved hand. However, she quickly realizes that the ball would land a few feet ahead of her. So, in a desperate move she dives forward, but sadly she was still inches behind the ball. Roxxane slides against the grass while the baseball bounces off the greenery. Letting out a curse she grabs the ball, stands up, and turns to face Gregory. Noticing Monty has already passed first base and is heading for second. "Heads up kid!" She throws the ball towards the brunette.
Gregory is able to catch the ball, though even with the baseball glove protecting his hand. He felt the stinging sensation through the leather material. Ignoring it for now and standing in the path of the incoming alligator. "You're not getting past me Monty! I beat you back at the Pizzaplex and I'll beat you here!"
"That was fluke kid! You just got lucky is all!" Replied Monty. When he was about at least five feet from the boy. The reptile crouches down and with all the power he built up, launches himself high in the air. Everyone watches him with wide eyes as he sores over Gregory and lands on the ground. Creating a small quack. He then dashes over to second base laughing.
"Hey! That shouldn't count!" Cried out Gregory. He then looks towards to Glamrock Freddy, who only shrugged his shoulders. Gregory throws the ball to Vanessa but unfortunately it falls short. Resulting in the blonde having to bend down to scoop up the ball. Though this gave Monty the chance to run on and then pass third base. Heading on his way towards home.
Seeing that there was no stopping him. Vanessa just sighs and drops the ball. "Great. Now we're going to hear him brag all day." She said. The gator makes it to home base, "Yes! That's game!" He exclaimed. Glamrock Freddy was about to interject but stopped himself. He figured he shouldn't take this away from his friend. Over with Roxxane, she takes her glove off and throws it to the ground in a huff while Glamrock Chica is applauding Monty for his success.
"And there you have it folks! Monty has taken the victory for today's match of baseball!" Said Sun. "Alright everyone!" Shouted a new voice. Looking over to where it came from. Standing at the bottom of the bleachers is a woman who's about in her mid-thirties with short brown hair and green eyes. This is Gregory's mom, "I think we should call it for a day. Let's head on home, order some pizza, and watch some movies."
The mention of pizza caught the chicken's attention, "Yeah! Pizza!" She then starts running off the field and towards a pickup truck parked in the parking lot. Soon the others follow suit. The mom watches as each of the animatronics and Vanessa walk by till it was only her son left. She stops him by placing a warm hand on his shoulder and kneeling down to his level. "I got to say Gregory. You made some interesting friends while you were gone."
The two watched as Monty and GC climbed into the back of the truck while GF, Roxxane, Sun, and Vanessa get into a van from the Pizzaplex that they... borrowed. Gregory smiles, "I did. But they're also family. I'm really grateful to have them as such."
"Well then, this family got a whole lot bigger and zany." The two shared a laugh and then start making their way to the truck.
