3rd POV

Cubby and Izzy were scouring all throughout Neverland, looking for their friend. "It's just so weird. Jake would never just run off," Izzy thought. "Would he?"

"No, I know Jake, he would never disappear in the middle of the night without telling either of us." Izzy was resolute in her thoughts. The worst part about this was that whenever one of them had a crazy idea, they would do it together. It was an, "If we go down then we go down together," kind of a deal.

They were flying for most of the night until dawn, above the treeline using Izzy's pixie-dust, Skully flapping his wings right behind them. Trying to find your friend lost in Neverland is an emergency, isn't it?

"JAKE! JAKE! Where are you?" Cubby tried shouting for him for the millionth time. When he finally stopped yelling, Cubby slowed down, giving up trying to yell for him.

" UGH! Where could he be?" Cubby begged to the air.

"I wish I knew, he's our brother! We're all supposed to be by each other's side no matter what! I just don't know." I replied solemnly.

But right then I heard a voice in the distance, a very familiar voice. "GAH!" I gasped at the same time Cubby did.

"Did you hear that?" I whispered, trying to see if I heard it right.

"Yeah! And it's coming from down there! But that's - Midnight Hill? What's he doing down there?" Cubby alternated between whispering, and whisper-yelling.

"I don't know! But let's go!"

They flew down to the base of the mountain, mindful of the trees surrounding it. And they saw him. Jake. They were so overwhelmed with relief that they barely touched the ground before they tackled him, so relieved that neither of them noticed how terrible he looked.

"Jake! We were so worried! Where were you!?" Izzy yelled into his shoulder, but Cubby had other plans. He got to his feet, and he helped both of us up to our feet.

He looked angry. This was completely new for him. He never got angry, the closest he has ever gotten was irritated, and even that was a rarity.

"We have been looking for you Jake, all night. We saw your footprints leading out of the hideout to Bucky's Grotto, only to find Bucky wasn't there. The only place you could have been was Neverland. But who would have thought, that you were at the base of Midnight Hill." He finished, gesturing to the mountain behind them. He panted at the unexpected rant he gave, the fire leaving him.

"Why would you come back here? After everything that happened?" He begged for an answer.

At the end of his rant-reprimand, both Cubby and Izzy looked up at Jake, and what they saw shocked them. He looked… horrible.

His normally raven spiky hair was now tangled in what was worse than a rats nest. His normally sun-kissed skin was now pale, the latter could see his chest thumping. His forest green eyes, normally carefree, were now wider than normal, nervous and darting everywhere but them. His breathing sounded uneven.

He looked like he wanted to speak but couldn't bring himself to. They haven't seen him look this frazzled, this worried, since they saw him next to the sprout of the Forever Tree. Though back then he sounded almost desperate.

But there was something odd, there was an almost unnoticeable aura around him. Each of them noticed it, but they couldn't place it.

"Hey, Jake. Are you okay? You don't have to speak, just nod." Jake did, nervously.

"Okay then. Let's get you home." Izzy said with no room for argument. Not that anyone objected.

She dug her hands in the pouch of pixie-dust around her neck. She muttered a quick "pixie-dust away," as she sprinkled it all over them. They all went weightless and flew over to Bucky, and steered 'em back to Pirate Island.

"I'm so sorry about my outburst. I was so worried, you're our brother Jake. I never want anything bad to happen to you." Cubby apologized.

They laid on the biggest bunk bed with Jake in the middle, Izzy and Cubby on either side, neither wanting him to give them another heart attack. They didn't want him to leave. They normally used this position for their mates when they had nightmares, which was thankfully not often, rarely actually. They had closed the window to block out the sunlight, not wanting to be disturbed.

"Hey Jake." Izzy bagan. "Do you want to talk about it?"

He took a deep breath and let it out. He took another and began to speak. "I don't know. At night I went to sleep in this very bed, then was dreaming about a wolf howling to the moon, then the next thing I know, I'm waking up on the summit of Midnight Hill."

She could feel his irritation rising, so she said, "It's okay. Here is a pillow." She handed him a pillow from one of the other bunk beds. "Take your frustrations out on it."

He looked at it for a moment, confused, before realizing what she wanted him to do. He took a deep breath, held it against his face and screamed. The scream was muffled by the pillow but you could still hear it clearly. If there were no pillow, someone might have thought it was a high pitched battle cry, he had a very powerful voice for a boy with a 10 year old body.

He peeled the pillow off his face and plopped back onto the bed. "I think I had enough unintentional adventure for one day." He laughed ruefully.

"Yeah, but do you want to talk about that dream?" Cubby, never one to forget about the little things, asked. Jake complied and recounted everything he could remember, about running in the forest, the cliff, the moon, and the howl.

"Wait, we heard a howl! That's how we realized that you weren't in bed." Cubby exclaimed.

"Wait, you did? What happened?"

"Well... It all started like this." Izzy said, beginning the narration of the story.

"We were both sleeping peacefully. Sleeping in our bunk beds with no care in the world. That peace was shattered like a mirror when a howl echoed off the walls of the hideout. So I jerked, almost falling off the bed."

At this Jake shot a concerned look at her with an endearing dog-like tilt to his head, he looked like an innocent puppy. Looking at his expression, she thought it was undeniably cute, but it reminded her of when he was a wolf. With all the clues her attentive mind gathered, she drew a conclusion, far-fetched, and one she didn't want to consider, but it made enough sense that it would explain everything, so it wasn't worth ruling out entirely.

"I would have just fallen back asleep if I didn't notice any of these 3 things. Cubby woke up at the same time I did, probably jumping at the same time as well. Cubby actually fell out of the bed and sprawled out on the floor."

Jake interrupted her recount. "Wait, you did?" His body seemed to move on its own, turning to Cubby trying to check him over. That voice in his head telling him, 'Pack hurt, heal pack.'

Cubby snapped him out of his trance by putting a comforting hand on his arm. "Jake, stop, it's okay. Izzy already checked me over, I only got one bruise from the fall, nothing is wrong."

If anything, that made the voice in his head stronger. He wanted to heal his pack, but he knew Izzy would never let either of them leave the hideout if they were truly hurt. So he decided to trust her judgment.

Izzy continued. "I got out to help him up and checked him over, he ended up getting a small bruise on his wrist, but other than that he was perfectly fine."

"But the howl was unmistakable, it was a wolf's howl. But I thought I was going crazy because there are no wolves on Neverland, if you don't count the Stone Wolf, even then you gave the Moon Gem back to it, so why I heard a howl, I don't know."

At this Cubby jumped in, "At first it didn't hear it correctly since I was still recovering from the fall, but after thinking about it, I realized it really was a wolf's howl, so I know Izzy isn't crazy, if she was, I would be too."

Izzy sent him a grateful but also surprised look, "I thought it was weird that you didn't even stir at the commotion. That you didn't jump like either of us. That's when I realized you weren't in bed."

"At first I wasn't worried, considering you could have just gotten up to walk around, or to get some water, but when I helped Cubby up, I realized you would have come running if you heard anything wrong." She paused to let that bit of information sink in. She looked over to see realization cross over Jake's face, he always has been an open book.

"I told Cubby about everything I noticed after he recovered," Izzy sighed.

"We were at the shore of Neverland and saw Bucky anchored with its sails up. After that it was all a blur, we were going crazy trying to look for you. Flying all over Neverland, asking almost everyone we knew, if they had seen you," she sighed again.

"Worrying about you. You have never gone off on your own without telling us. It almost seems silly that when you do, I know you can take care of yourself, but we could always help you. But you weren't there, so if you did get in trouble then we couldn't help."

Jake nods in understanding, but he looked like he had something to say. They noticed and asked him what he had on his mind. He inhaled, getting ready.

"Guys, I think I'm a werewolf."
