"Hmmm..." Chris mused quietly as he stared at his wrist communicator. It was already three minutes after he, Sonic, Amy, and Cream had decided to split up and search for an underground passageway to rescue Tails and Cosmo within the cave. Chris was all alone and had searched around in a barren, rocky area. He had looked around the place to find another cave or a hole to go into, but he was mostly looking at his wrist communicator to track down the real Chaos Emerald as he believed that it would lead him to Tails and Cosmo if they had found it. So far, not much progress had been made in his search, but he was hopeful that he would make a breakthrough and be the one to find Tails and Cosmo.
...Well...At least, it's peaceful and quiet around here. I could use all the concentration that I have in this search. I wonder if Sonic or the others got any luck in their search? Chris pondered calmly with a little smile as he stood still while staring at his wrist communicator.
Unfortunately for Chris, that was not the case.
"Chris? I'm bored," Sonic said calmly yet tiredly with a little frown as he skidded a few feet behind Chris and stood with hands on his hips.
"Sonic...we've only just started, and already you're bored? It's not even five minutes yet!" Chris replied with a little frown in slight annoyance as he looked back at Sonic.
"But there's nothing to do around here but find more rocks and ruins! Not to mention that there are no Metarex poachers to fight either! So, what am I supposed to do, Chris? Just run around in circles? ...I mean...I could do that, but even that would get old pretty quick. Got any ideas for fun, Chris?" Sonic replied in annoyance with a deep frown and with lowered eyelids as he looked bored.
Chris rolled his eyes and sighed at that before replying sarcastically with a solemn frown, "(Sigh) ...Why yes, Sonic. I do know what you can do for fun. Do you want to know what you can obviously do right now?".
"Yeah! What is it?" Sonic replied brightly with a cheerful smile and with excited eyes.
"Keep searching for an underground entrance!" Chris exclaimed in annoyance as he glared at Sonic with a deep frown.
"Ohhh...Good plan," Sonic replied slowly yet calmly with an understanding look and with nod as he smiled brightly. After he had said that, he immediately ran off again.
ZIP!
"...(Sigh)...Finally..." Chris muttered quietly with a sigh and with a little frown as he looked around the area again.
…
…
But just thirty seconds later...
ZIP!
"Chris, I can't find an entrance anywhere," Sonic said calmly yet bluntly with a little frown as he came back to Chris again.
"Ugh! Search...harder, Sonic!" Chris exclaimed in annoyance as he turned his head around and glared at Sonic again.
"But I did!" Sonic exclaimed back with a sheepish frown as he had his hands out.
"In just thirty seconds?!" Chris exclaimed back in disbelief as he looked baffled by this.
"Are you really that surprised? I search fast as much as I run fast!" Sonic replied calmly yet brightly with a grin and with a shrug.
Chris face-palmed himself at that as he replied tiredly, "Uggh...So what you're telling me is that your searches are always sloppy. No wonder you rely on Tails to search for the Chaos Emeralds for you. You're just a fast, lazy hedgehog".
"The one and only," Sonic replied calmly yet proudly with a bright smile while having his eyes closed and having his hands on his hips.
"...(Sigh)…...Alright. Here's what you can do, Sonic...Why don't you just check up with Amy and Cream and see how they are doing in their search. Can you do that for me, Sonic?" Chris replied calmly with a little frown as he sighed tiredly again.
"Why of course! You can count on me!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin and with a thumbs-up.
"Good. Now, just go and do that instead," Chris replied calmly with a nod as he waved his hand at Sonic.
"You got it, buddy! And you keep on searching for Tails and Cosmo! See ya!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a cheerful smile and with a nod before he turned around and sped off to the ruins.
"...(Sigh)...Hopefully, that will work. Maybe Amy or Cream could help him focus onto the mission. I just hope that I won't be the one doing all of the hard work. That would suck," Chris muttered calmly yet tiredly with a sigh and with a headshake while frowning a bit. Chris soon got back to his search by walking towards some more rocky terrain.
Meanwhile, Amy and Cream were looking around in the ruins to find a way to the underground cavern. They checked at some rubble and some closed spaces, but they hadn't found a hint to an underground route anywhere.
"You know, Cream...I'm starting to think that this place is a dead-end. It doesn't look like there are any secret entrances in this place. It's empty!" Amy muttered calmly with a disappointed frown as she looked back at Cream while standing next to a pile of rubble.
"Yeah, there aren't many holes or caves around here as we thought. Perhaps we're searching in a bad spot. Let's try somewhere else," Cream replied calmly with a little frown as she carried Cheese in her arms.
"Ugh...Do we have to? Geez, this searching plan is such a pain in the behind. Maybe we should take a break," Amy replied calmly yet tiredly with a little frown as she turned around and sat on top of the rubble with her hands on her cheeks.
"Miss Amy? Do you really think that it's a good idea? Tails and Cosmo need us. We can't stop searching now. It's only been like five minutes when we had started," Cream replied calmly with a worried frown as she stared at Amy.
"I know. I know, but...look around you...Do you really think that the search is going to be a piece of cake? On top of the fact that Tails and Cosmo are underground, we can't search for them with our wrist communicators. We still can't contact them nor can we find them with the radar function. There are still too many blips on screen and are going in such a haphazard way that it's impossible to find the real Chaos Emerald. In other words...we have no leads to go on in this scenario!" Amy replied calmly with a solemn frown as she opened her wrist communicator and look at its screen again for emphasis.
Cream frowned further and looked down to the ground. Cheese frowned and looked down too. Cream replied sadly with a deep frown, "Then...we really are hopeless into finding Tails and Cosmo. I just hope that Mr. Knuckles can find them. What do you think that he is doing right now, Miss Amy?".
"What do you think?" Amy asked calmly with an annoyed look on her face.
"Must! Beat! Rock! With! Fists! Rrrrrrgh! Arrrrggh! You're no match for me, rocks! I'll beat you! Rggggn! Arrrggn!" Knuckles yelled and grunted in determination as he kept punching and digging through the rocks with his Shovel Claws.
"Never mind," Cream replied calmly yet sadly with a little frown.
ZIP!
"Hey, what's with the long faces, you two? Search not going well?" Sonic asked calmly with a concerned frown as he stood between Amy and Cream after he stopped running. He had his hands on his hips again while looking at Amy and Cream.
"You can say that again. There is nothing in these ruins but rubble and rocks!" Amy replied tiredly in annoyance as she looked at Sonic with a frown.
"We really aren't making any progress here, Mr. Sonic. How about you? Did you find anything yet?" Cream replied sadly with a discouraged look on her face.
"Nah, I got nothing as well. I've searched around this planet twice, and there are not as many cave entrances as you may think. It's like the abyss is the only place for an underground entrance in this planet. Like what's up with that?" Sonic answered calmly with a frown and a shrug as he looked at Cream.
"Oh, dear...Then that means we can't find a way at all. This is so disappointing. (Chao Chao...)" Cream replied sadly with a deeper frown as she looked down to the ground while Cheese chirped sadly too.
"Well, that puts my motivation to a halt. So, what do we do now?" Amy replied tiredly with a discouraged frown as she stared at Sonic.
"Well, I'm glad that you had asked, Amy! Cause we're going to have some fun!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a smile as he looked at Amy.
"Oh? What kind of fun, Mr. Sonic?" Cream asked curiously as she looked back up at Sonic with an intrigued look on her face.
"Yeah, what kind of fun, Sonic? It better not be 'run away from Amy for two hours' or something. Because trust me, Sonic, it's not fun," Amy replied calmly yet in annoyance as she frowned deeper and as she lowered her eyelids halfway.
"Uhh...Heheheh...Don't worry, Amy. It's nothing like that. I'm thinking more of the lines of some...innocent games like hide-and-seek or freeze tag. Are you guys interested?" Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish smile and a shrug as he looked at Amy before at Cream.
"Oh! Really?! We can play hide-and-seek?! I want to play! I want to play!" Cream exclaimed brightly with a grin as she looked excited.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese chirped happily with a smile as he waved his arms.
"Oooh, hide-and-seek! It's been a while since I had played that game! Count me in, Sonic!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a grin too as she hopped off from the pile of rubble and stood next to Sonic with her hands clasped together.
"There you go, guys! There's those happy grins! Let's just chill out and have some fun! Maybe we'll get our motivation back if we cool our heads a bit and relax! So, who wants to hide?" Sonic replied brightly with a grin and a thumbs-up as he looked at Amy and Cream.
"Me! Me! I want to hide! I want to hide!" Amy and Cream exclaimed in unison with happy smiles on their excited faces as they waved their hands.
"That's the spirit! Now, you two hide while I count to thirty! Got it?" Sonic replied brightly with a grin and a nod.
"Got it!" Amy and Cream exclaimed happily with huge smiles on their faces.
"Alright, guys. Here I go...1, 2, 3, 4, 5," Sonic replied calmly with a smile before he covered his eyes with his hands and counted to thirty. As soon as Sonic had started counting, Amy and Cream ran away from Sonic in different directions. Amy headed further into the ruins while Cream ran out from it.
Meanwhile, Chris was still busy looking around the rocky terrain for some holes to go into. However, he still can't find any. He sighed and looked at his wrist communicator again. ...Uggh...There's still so many blips in the way...Just when will it stop? Chris pondered calmly with a frown as he looked discouraged. He soon heard some footsteps and turned his head around to see who was there.
"Huh? Cream?" Chris muttered in confusion as he saw Cream running out from the ruins and went towards a huge rock to hide behind it. Chris was confused by this strange action and had decided to go over to Cream to check on her. What's up with Cream? Is she scared of something? Chris thought in concern as he ran towards the large rock and slowly looked around it. He was even more concerned when he saw Cream sitting on the ground while holding onto her knees.
"Cream? Are you feeling okay?" Chris asked gently with a concerned look on his face.
"Ah! Shhh! Chris, be quiet! You'll give away my hiding spot if you keep being so loud!" Cream exclaimed in shock as she looked up at Chris while holding a finger next to her lips. Cheese also joined her by holding a hand next to his mouth.
"Oh...Uhh...Sorry..." Chris muttered in a whisper as he had his hands out.
"It's okay," Cream whispered back with a smile.
"Yeah...Hey! Wait a minute!" Chris replied calmly with a smile before he exclaimed in shock as he realized what he was doing.
"Chris! Shhh! I told you to be quiet," Cream exclaimed with a frown before she whispered while looking annoyed that Chris was being loud again.
"S-Sorry about that. But anyways...what are you doing, Cream? Why are you hiding? There's...There's not a Metarex poacher around here somewhere, right?" Chris whispered with a frown as he looked confused again.
"No, I'm not hiding because of some Metarex poacher. I'm playing hide-and-seek with Miss Amy and Mr. Sonic. It was Mr. Sonic's idea that we're playing this game, and I'm hiding from him as we speak," Cream whispered calmly with a smile while shaking her head a little.
"Seriously?!" Chris exclaimed in shock and in annoyance as he frowned a lot from this.
"Chris! Shhh! What part of being quiet don't you understand?! Haven't you ever played hide-and-seek before?! You hide and be quiet!" Cream yelled in frustration as she frowned deeply at Chris while glaring at him a little.
…Says the girl who is busy yelling at me...Oh, brother...Sonic...All I had ever wanted from you was to do one task, and yet here you are goofing off again...And now you got Amy and Cream to goof off too...Sigh...Just what am I going to do? Chris pondered in annoyance with a deep frown and with lowered eyelids as a sweat drop went down from his head.
"Cream, I know that you want to play, but shouldn't you, Sonic, and Amy be busy looking for an underground entrance? We need to look for Tails and Cosmo," Chris whispered calmly with looking solemn as he had his hand out.
"I...I know that, Chris, but Mr. Sonic said that there is no other entrance to the caverns besides the one that Tails and Cosmo went into. Besides, I want to play hide-and-seek. You can play hide-and-seek too, Chris. You can just ask Mr. Sonic if you want to join," Cream whispered calmly with a little frown as she stared back at Chris with a sad look on her face.
"...I...I...(Sigh)…No, Cream. I don't want to play any games. The search is more important than playing silly, childish games like hide-and-seek. Tails' and Cosmo's lives are on the line, and if we don't find them, then who knows what will happen to them?" Chris whispered calmly with a sigh and a headshake as he frowned solemnly. He then looked confused when he saw Cream smiling hugely at him in amusement. Before he could ask her why she's smiling, she covered her mouth as she giggled a lot.
"(Hehehehehe!) You're starting to sound like Mr. Knuckles, Chris. (Hehehehe!)" Cream whispered calmly while muffling her giggles with her hand.
"Wait. Huh?" Chris muttered quietly in confusion as his eyes went wide and as his mouth gaped.
"(Hehehehehe!) I mean it, Chris. That is something that Mr. Knuckles would say. In fact, it is something that he would say if he's busy looking for the Master Emerald. Besides...(Hehehehehe!)…he usually turns down offers to play 'childish' games too...(Hehehehe!)…" Cream whispered calmly with a smile while still covering mouth at times as she giggled a lot.
"Uhhh...I...I...Ummm..." Chris muttered awkwardly with a blush as he looked embarrassed by this.
"(Hehehehehe!)...Chris...You're getting old...(Hehehehehe!)" Cream muttered quietly in amusement as she muffled her giggles.
"Ack!" Chris exclaimed in shock and in embarrassment as his face blushed deeply by this. Oooh...This is embarrassing...I must be looking more like an elderly person to Cream right now...Just where did my childishness go? Chris brooded with a frown as he blushed a lot.
"...You...You know what? …I'm leaving," Chris muttered quietly yet awkwardly with a flushed face as he turned around and walked away from Cream and Cheese while feeling humiliated.
"(Hehehehe!) Bye, Chris! Have fun being the mature person of the group besides Mr. Knuckles!" Cream exclaimed happily with a grin and a giggle as she waved "goodbye" to Chris.
...Please stop...Chris brooded with a frown as he kept walking further away from Cream while still looking embarrassed.
Meanwhile, Sonic was just about done counting as he reached the last numbers.
"27, 28, 29, 30! Ready or not, guys! The fastest thing alive is coming to get you!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin as he uncovered his eyes and looked playful. He then sped off into the ruins to find either Amy or Cream. He zipped through the area while looking at the buildings. He was a bit intrigued with the ruins but soon shook it off as he concentrated into finding Amy and Cream.
Now, this is the kind of searching that I enjoy! Sonic thought with a grin as he made a turn and soon stopped as he saw a wrecked area with rubble everywhere. He smiled as he looked curious at this particular area.
"...(Whistles)...This placed sure had been rocked! A perfect place for a hiding spot, wouldn't you say?" Sonic said to himself with a smile after whistling a bit. He then walked into the wrecked area while checking through the rubble and looking behind the walls of the area. Hmm...No signs of Amy or Cream anywhere...Perhaps either of them are somewhere near here...Sonic pondered calmly with a smile as he looked right and left. He then turned to his right and walked towards the ruined street. He looked through some alleyways but hadn't found Amy or Cream yet. At the end of the street, he stood still and surveyed the desolate area that has a few stone archways.
"...Boy, this is going to be interesting...Just where oh where could Amy or Cream be?" Sonic said calmly with an amused smile while looking around the area. Just as when he had said that out loud, his ears picked up a quiet giggle. He then smiled very much in amusement as he looked at his right at some stone archways.
Heh. Bingo...Sonic thought in amusement as he grinned and lowered his eyelids. He then sped towards the archways and went around them.
"BOO!" Sonic shouted playfully with a grin as he went up behind Amy and raised his hands into the air.
"Eeeek! Hehehehehehe! You found me!" Amy shrieked a little in surprise before she turned around and exclaimed happily in amusement while giggling a bit.
"Heheheh...Of course, I did. That giggle of yours just blew your cover away," Sonic replied calmly in amusement with a grin as he chuckled a bit while lowering his arms.
"Teehee! I can't help but giggle since you're busy trying to find me! It's not very often that you intentionally search out for me, you know! I'm usually the one who searches out for you!" Amy exclaimed happily with a bright smile and a giggle as she had her hands together while staring at Sonic.
"Uhh...Heheh...Yeah, now that you mention it, I do rarely search out for you unless you are kidnapped or something. I don't think that I had ever looked for you with other intentions other than saving you. ...Huh...Weird..." Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish smile and a chuckle as he scratched the back of his head.
"Hehehe! I know! It's almost as if..." Amy replied calmly yet coyly with a giggle and a smile while having her hands behind her back. She then leant forward while adding coyly, "...you want to be sought after instead...".
"What?! What are you talking about? It's nothing like that," Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish smile as he had his hands in front of him while backing away from Amy a bit.
"Are you sure? Because you seem to not make much of an effort to search for me. It looks like you enjoy being found out by me and are just too shy to admit that you like it," Amy replied calmly yet coyly with a playful smile as she walked closer to Sonic.
"No! No way! That is not the case at all! I just don't search for you because I want to chill out by myself! And whenever you do find me, it's surprising to me! Especially when I just wanted to be alone for a while!" Sonic exclaimed back with a frown as he looked awkward and nervous.
"Sure, it may be surprising to you, but you still feel happy whenever I show up suddenly, right?" Amy replied calmly yet coyly with a playful smile while walking slowly towards Sonic.
"Ummm...The jury is still deciding the verdict on that one..." Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a frown and a blush as he noticed that Amy is getting rather close to him now.
"Well, I hope that the verdict is 'guilty' then! Because that would mean that you enjoy my presence very much!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a smile as she held onto Sonic suddenly while looking up at him with sparkly eyes.
"..." Sonic was speechless while blushing a lot as he stared down at Amy in nervousness. His heart was pounding fast as he can see Amy's happy, cute look on her face. He soon had a sweat drop on his head as he pondered awkwardly. ...I just had to find Amy first, didn't I?
"S-Say you know what?! I'm going to look for Cream right now! Can't keep her alone for a long time!" Sonic exclaimed quickly yet awkwardly with a frown as he quickly releases Amy from himself before getting ready to speed off again.
"Wait! Wait! Let's look for her together! We'll surprise her that way!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a smile as she grabbed his arm while looking at him with pleading eyes.
"Uhhh..." Sonic muttered awkwardly as he saw Amy's puppy dog look. Ugh...Anything but that look...Why did Amy have to learn it from Cream? Why? Sonic pondered calmly in annoyance as he frowned a bit while blushing in embarrassment.
Sonic soon shook his head before replying with a sigh, "...(Sigh)...Alright. Fine. We'll do that. But please don't touch me...".
"Yay! We're going to be a team! Also, don't worry, Sonic. I won't touch you...much...Hehehehe!" Amy replied happily yet coyly with a playful smile and with playful eyes as she lets go of his arm.
"...Ugh...Close enough..." Sonic muttered tiredly with a frown and with half-lidded eyes as he shrugged a bit.
"Then what are we waiting for?! Let's go find, Cream!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a grin as she quickly grabbed Sonic's hand and ran off towards the ruins again.
"Alright! Alright! Easy, Amy! I'm going! I'm going!" Sonic exclaimed quickly with a frown as he ran with Amy. Sigh...Some things never change...Sonic thought with an annoyed frown and a sweat drop on his head.
Sonic and Amy soon looked around the ruins for a few minutes as they searched behind the rubble, the walls, the pillars, the alleyways, and the buildings. Amy was still holding onto Sonic's hand in which he was reluctant with. But they were quiet as they did their best to look for Cream within the ruins.
"Hmmm...I don't think that Cream is in here. Maybe we should check outside the ruins and see if she's out there or not," Amy said calmly with a little frown as she looked around the area one last time before looking at Sonic.
"Good idea, Amy. I've looked around this place myself and hadn't spotted Cream either," Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a nod as he looked at Amy.
"Maybe it was because you were busy looking for me," Amy replied calmly yet coyly with a sweet smile and sparkling eyes.
"Amy, it was just a coincidence that I'd find you first. Besides, it's a 50-50 shot of me finding you anyway. So, cut it out with that. Please," Sonic replied calmly with an annoyed frown and with lowered eyelids.
"Aw well. I tried! Hehehe!" Amy replied calmly yet brightly with a smile and a giggle.
"...(Sigh)...You sure did, Amy," Sonic muttered calmly with a sigh and a lopsided smile.
"Well then! Let's keep up with the pace!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a smile as she ran out towards the exit.
"Alright! Easy! Easy!" Sonic exclaimed in surprise as he ran with Amy too after feeling his arm being pulled a bit. I know that I like to go fast, but it's only when I want to go fast! Not when someone else forces me to! Sonic pondered calmly with a shocked look on his face as he ran outside the ruins and into the rocky terrain instead.
Amy and Sonic soon ran out from the ruins and had looked around the barren, rocky area instead. They can see rocks, plateaus, and cliffs everywhere, but they have no clue on where to start looking.
"Maybe we should go that way!" Amy and Sonic exclaimed in unison as they pointed at opposite directions. They gasped in surprise when they saw the other pointing in the other direction and frowned a little at that.
"Sonic, let's just try the eastern side first, and then we might try the western side," Amy replied calmly with a frown as she kept pointing east while pulling Sonic's hand along.
"We could do that, but maybe we should try the western side first. My gut is telling me that we should check there first," Sonic replied calmly with a frown as he pointed west while pulling his hand back from Amy.
"No! We should check east! My womanly intuition is much sharper than your gut!" Amy exclaimed with a deeper frown as she pulled Sonic's hand back.
"Oh, please! My gut has always led us to the right path! You just want to misdirect me with that silly mind of yours!" Sonic exclaimed back with a deeper frown as he yanked his hand back.
"Oh, excuse me! If it wasn't for my 'silly' mind, I wouldn't come and save you from whatever danger that your gut has put you through!" Amy argued back irritably with a frown as she yanked Sonic's hand back.
"Yeah, but who's the one who gave you such silly ideas to get yourself kidnapped, huh?! You can't blame my gut for that!" Sonic argued back irritably with a frown as he yanked his hand back again.
"True, I can't! But that doesn't mean it's always right! I still say that we should check east! East, Sonic!" Amy argued back irritably while yanking Sonic's hand some more.
"No, Amy! It's west! West!" Sonic argued back irritably while yanking his hand back.
"East!" Amy exclaimed angrily.
"West!" Sonic exclaimed angrily.
"East!" Amy yelled loudly.
"West!" Sonic yelled loudly too.
"East!" Amy yelled back.
"West!" Sonic yelled back too.
"East!" Amy yelled even more determinedly.
"West!" Sonic yelled more determinedly too.
"It's east, Sonic! East!" Amy yelled back in annoyance.
"No! It's west!" Sonic yelled back in annoyance too.
"East!" Amy yelled some more.
"West!" Sonic yelled some more as well.
"East!" Amy yelled again.
"Weest! ...Uhh...Wrong word..." Sonic exclaimed in irritation before muttering a bit in awkwardness as he accidently mispronounced the word. Amy smiled smugly at him before yelling again.
"East!" Amy yelled in determination.
"West!" Sonic yelled back more correctly this time.
Meanwhile, Chris was busy trying to look for some holes before he cringed as he heard Amy's and Sonic's yelling in the distance. Chris looked annoyed by this and had turned around to see Amy and Sonic yanking each other while yelling a lot in irritation.
Ugh...They're acting like children for crying out loud. Chris thought in annoyance as he frowned at this. He sighed tiredly before walking closer to Amy and Sonic.
"East!" Amy continued to yell.
"West!" Sonic continued to yell as well.
"East!" Amy yelled back in determination.
"West!" Sonic yelled back in determination as well.
"East!" Amy yelled back irritably.
"West!" Sonic yelled back irritably as well.
"West!" Amy exclaimed with a frown.
"East!" Sonic exclaimed back with a frown too.
"West!" Amy yelled back irritably.
"No! It's east! And that's final!" Sonic yelled back irritably with a frown as he yanked his hand back.
"Oh, okay," Amy replied calmly with a smug smile.
"Heh, told ya...Hey!" Sonic replied calmly with a smirk before he exclaimed in irritation. How dare she use that trick on me! Only I get to do that! Sonic thought in irritation as he stared at Amy's smug look on her face.
"Guys! Guys! Would you two please calm down and tell me what's going on?! Are you guys taking the search much more seriously this time?! Because if you are, then it's about freaking time!" Chris exclaimed loudly as he approached Amy and Sonic while standing a bit away from them.
"Well, apparently no, since Sonic over here wants us to waste more time by searching the western side instead of the eastern side!" Amy exclaimed back with a pout as she looked at Chris briefly before glaring at Sonic.
"Oh, and who's to say you're not going to waste our time by searching in the eastern side?! It's obviously west, Amy! West!" Sonic exclaimed back with a deep frown as he kept staring at Amy.
"No, it's not! It's-! ...Wait! Did you say, 'our time'?!" Amy exclaimed back in irritation before exclaiming in joy with a bright smile.
"Hey! That's not what I had mea-Ack!" Sonic exclaimed in shock and in embarrassment as he blushed a lot before feeling Amy's arms embracing tightly around his body.
"Oh, Sonic! I knew that you would see us spending time together as special! You're so sweet!" Amy exclaimed happily with a grin as she embraced Sonic tightly.
"Gaaak...Uuuck...U-U-Unhand me, you witch..." Sonic muttered weakly with a grimace while choking a bit as Amy's hug was squeezing hard onto his lungs.
"...(Sigh)...Are you two looking for Tails and Cosmo or not?" Chris asked tiredly with another sigh and a frown.
"Nope! We're looking for Cream! We're playing hide-and-seek!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a grin as she looked at Chris while holding onto Sonic.
"Seriously?! Can't you guys do more productive things like focusing on the search mission for instance?!" Chris exclaimed back in shock and in annoyance as he frowned deeper at this.
"Oh, we'd love to, but where's the fun in that?" Sonic replied calmly with a smile as he looked at Chris while pulling Amy away from himself.
"...Really? That's what this is all about? You'd rather abandon the search mission just to have fun instead?" Chris asked in annoyance as he looked displeased by this.
"Well, yeah! The search isn't fun when you know that your little bro can take care of himself! I'd be searching much more diligently if that wasn't the case!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a shrug as he finally got Amy off himself.
"Ugggh...This is so stupid...So immature..." Chris muttered tiredly with a frown as he face-palmed himself.
"Heheheh...What's wrong, Chris? Feeling old lately?" Sonic teased playfully with a smirk as he had his hands on his hips.
"Wh-What?! No! No, I'm not! I'm still young, you know!" Chris exclaimed back defensively with a frown as he glared at Sonic.
"Not exactly, Chris. You're older than Knuckles," Amy replied calmly with an amused smile as she looked at Chris too.
"Oh, what's the difference?! Being eighteen is not much different than being sixteen! I'm still a teenager, you know!" Chris exclaimed back in defense as he crossed his arms while frowning a lot in displeasure.
"Yeah, but the fact that you'd call us immature even while you're a teenager yourself certainly shows us that you're old. I mean. Twelve-year-old you would've been thrilled if he heard that we're planning to play hide-and-seek. You'd abandon the search mission too if that was the case," Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a shrug.
"Ah! Uh! No, I would not!" Chris exclaimed back in embarrassment as he blushed a lot at that statement.
"Oh, you most certainly would!" Sonic teased playfully with a knowing smile.
"Sonic, I'm way more mature than that! I wouldn't do that even when I was twelve! So there!" Chris exclaimed back in defense while still having his arms crossed.
"Exactly my point, old man," Sonic teased playfully with a smirk and a wink.
"Ack! Hey!" Chris exclaimed in shock and in embarrassment as he blushed some more.
"Hehehehe! It looks like you're not as young as you used to be, Chris! Hehehehe! Glad that I'm still young and beautiful!" Amy exclaimed in amusement as she giggled a little.
"Yeah! And I'm still as young and cool as ever!" Sonic exclaimed cockily with a smirk as he rubbed his nose a bit.
Chris frowned a lot in displeasure while staring Sonic and Amy in annoyance. He had never felt this humiliated before, and he didn't think that his old friends would tease him in this way. But then again...is it really worth getting worked up over some lousy teasing? They're just...They're just being kids...Oh no! I am getting old! Make it stop! Chris pondered calmly with a frown before he looked shocked and had shook his head a little.
Chris then frowned again as he replied calmly while pointing at the rock at his right, "So, you want to find Cream instead of Tails and Cosmo, huh? Very well then. Cream's right behind that rock over there".
"Chris! You've ruined the game! (Chao! Chao!)" Cream exclaimed in anger as she stood up and looked around the rock to glare at Chris. Cheese chirped angrily with Cream as he glared at Chris too.
"Heh...Told ya it was west," Sonic replied calmly yet teasingly with a smirk as he glanced at Amy.
"...Shut it, you," Amy replied curtly with a frown and with narrowed eyelids as she glared at Sonic.
"Well, sorry, but I'd like everyone to focus on the real search instead of some kiddy version of it. It's important that Tails and Cosmo are safe, and we'd want them to get out the cave safely, right? So, can we just try to focus our search on that aspect alone? Please? Can we?" Chris replied calmly yet solemnly with a frown as he had his hands out for emphasis as he looked at Cream, Sonic, and Amy.
"We would help you out if you weren't such a buzz kill, Chris! Stop ruining our fun!" Amy exclaimed in annoyance as she had her hands on her hips.
"Well, I'm sorry that I'm ruining your fun, but I'm doing it because I want you guys to search for Tails and Cosmo! I care about them as much as you do! So why aren't you guys searching?!" Chris exclaimed back in concern as he looked serious.
"It's because I want to take a break!" Amy exclaimed with a frown.
"It's because I'm bored!" Sonic exclaimed with a frown after Amy.
"It's because I want to play hide-and-seek!" Cream exclaimed with a frown after Sonic.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese chirped angrily after Cream.
"...(Sigh)…I just can't win, can I?" Chris muttered tiredly with a sigh as he face-palmed himself again.
"Look, Chris. We all care for Tails and Cosmo, but we have faith in them that they'll be alright in the end. They've gone through a lot in the past, and I'm sure that they can survive together on their own. So, because of that, we can afford to goof off and relax a bit until we can find them with our wrist communicators," Sonic replied calmly with a little smile.
"I know that, Sonic, but...I...I just want to do the right thing, okay?!" Chris muttered tiredly before exclaiming in annoyance as he glared at Sonic.
Sonic smiled and shrugged at that as he replied calmly, "Then go and search for Tails and Cosmo yourself if you feel that way. Amy, Cream, and I are going to play freeze tag in the meantime".
"Really?! We're going to play freeze tag now?!" Cream asked in surprise as she walked over to Sonic and stared up at him.
"Yeah! Totally! If you want to, Cream," Sonic replied brightly with a grin and a wink as he gave Cream a thumbs-up.
"Yay! I'd love to! I love freeze tag as much as hide-and-seek! Thank you, Mr. Sonic! Thank you for being so kind to us!" Cream exclaimed brightly with a huge smile as she gave Sonic a hug. Cheese smiled widely at this too.
"Heheheh...Hey, anytime, kiddo," Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a chuckle as he rubbed Cream's head a bit.
"Oooh, freeze tag does sound fun! I hope that you don't use your super speed, Sonic. Because that would make the game unfair," Amy replied calmly yet happily with a smile as she stared at Sonic.
"I know, Amy. I'm not planning to use my speed on this game. It'll be too boring if I do that," Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a shrug as he looked at Amy.
"Awww, you just love to entertain us, huh, Sonic?! You're just so sweet!" Amy exclaimed brightly with a smile as she hugged Sonic along with Cream.
"Uhhh...Heheheh...Okay, ladies. Easy. Easy there...Heheheh..." Sonic replied calmly yet awkwardly with a sheepish smile while chuckling a bit as he held both Amy and Cream.
Chris stared at the trio with a little frown as he still looked annoyed. But he soon sighed reluctantly and shook his head. It's no use, Chris. They're not going to listen to you since they want to have fun instead. I guess that I have no choice but to search for Tails and Cosmo all by myself. Chris pondered calmly with a frown as he stared at the trio for a bit.
"You know what? I give up. You guys have fun without me. I'll do all the work instead," Chris replied tiredly with a frown as he waved "goodbye" before turning around and walking away from the trio.
"Okay! Have fun, old man Chris!" the trio exclaimed brightly in unison as they waved "goodbye" to Chris.
"Stop rubbing it in! It's not funny!" Chris yelled in the distance.
Sonic, Amy, and Cream looked at each other before laughing a bit in amusement. Amy and Cream soon let go of Sonic and stared happily at him.
"We really do give Chris a hard time, don't we?" Amy replied calmly in amusement.
"Yeah, we do, but it's just harmless fun. Besides, unlike Knuckles, Chris has more thick skin. So, he can handle some amount of teasing but not too much," Sonic replied calmly with a smile and a shrug as he stared at Amy.
"That's very true, Mr. Sonic. Chris is more tolerant to others than Mr. Knuckles is. So, I guess it's okay to tease him a little," Cream replied calmly with a smile and a nod.
"Just don't do it too much so that he'll cry over it. We don't want to be too harsh on him," Amy replied calmly with a smile as she had her hands up.
"Amy, Chris is eighteen not three. He's not going to cry over some harmless teasing. He's more resilient than that," Sonic replied calmly with a little frown.
"You have a point there, but it's still fair for us to hold back the teasing a little. I don't want to be too cruel to him," Amy replied calmly with a sheepish smile and a shrug.
"I don't want to be cruel to Chris either, Mr. Sonic. It's not right to tease someone very much. Their feelings could be hurt that way," Cream replied calmly with a little frown.
"I know. I know. But still, there's nothing wrong with some teasing. Geez, you girls really are soft when it comes to teasing others. No wonder that I don't see you two tease Knuckles a lot. You girls really are too sensitive to do that sort of thing," Sonic replied calmly with a frown as he shrugged again while looking at Cream and Amy.
"What was that?! You think that we're soft?!" Amy and Cream exclaimed in irritation as they glared at Sonic after hearing those comments.
"Whoa! Whoa! Where's this coming from?! All I had said is that you're too sensitive to tease anybody! That's...That's not a bad thing to have really!" Sonic exclaimed in shock and in worry as he backed up from Amy and Cream while having his hands in front of him.
"Just because we don't tease others that doesn't mean that we're soft! We're very capable to tease others as much as we want to!" Amy exclaimed in irritation as she balled her hands into fists while glaring at Sonic.
"Yeah! We don't tease others! We just want to be nice!" Cream exclaimed in irritation as she balled up her hands into fists and glared at Sonic too.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese chirped angrily with Cream and Amy as he glared at Sonic too.
"...H-Hey...Guys...Chill out, okay? It's...It's just an observation..." Sonic muttered awkwardly with a worried frown as he stared at the irritated girls.
"Hmm...Perhaps we should do a two-on-one freeze tag. I bet that is something that Sonic hadn't done before," Amy replied calmly with a frown as she looked at Cream.
"I agree, Miss Amy. Mr. Sonic needs to be reminded on how tough girls are! Let's get him!" Cream replied calmly yet solemnly with a frown as she looked at Amy briefly before looking at Sonic and pointed at him.
"Yeah! Get him!" Amy exclaimed in determination as she looked at Sonic before running towards him along with Cream.
"Ack! Girls! Don't! Chill out! Seriously!" Sonic exclaimed quickly in panic as he quickly ran away from Amy and Cream before running slowly. Amy and Cream turned towards the left and chased after Sonic.
"Get back here, Sonic!" Amy and Cream exclaimed in irritation as they ran as fast as they could.
So much for a fun freeze tag...Sonic thought with a little frown as he ran away from Amy and Cream. He stared at them a little before an amusing thought came into his mind. On second thought...maybe I could turn this around and turn it into a fun freeze tag instead...Sonic thought with a grin as he slowed down his running a bit more.
Meanwhile, Chris was back looking through some rocks to see if there could be any holes in the ground. However, he still found nothing. Welp. Glad to know that I wasn't missing much on my search. Sigh...Alright then. Let's check to see if anything has changed in the emerald radar. Chris pondered calmly with a frown and a sigh before opening the wrist communicator again. But before he could see the radar screen, he was startled when he heard two squeals in the distance followed by uncontrollable laughter.
"Aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Sonic! No! Hahahahahahahahahaha!" Amy squealed loudly before laughing a lot.
"Eeeeehehehehehehehehehehe! No! Nohohohohohohohohoho!" Cream squealed loudly before laughing a lot too.
"Heheheh! Freeze! Got you!" Sonic exclaimed playfully with a chuckle.
Oh, good grief...This is what Knuckles has to deal with every day, huh? An irresponsible, childish hedgehog, huh? ...I pity him so much right now...Chris pondered calmly with a frown and a headshake while looking at Sonic, Amy, and Cream in the distance. He can see that Sonic was playfully tickling Amy and Cream at their sides and their stomachs as he stood between them.
"Hahahahahahahahahaha! Hehehehehehehehehe! Sonic! Quit it! Hehehehehehehe! That's enough!" Amy protested loudly while laughing a lot in hysterics as she backed away from Sonic and stepped to the side.
"Hehehehehehehehehehe! Yeah! Stop! Hahahahahahahahaha! Stop it, Mr. Sonic! Stop!" Cream protested loudly while laughing a lot in hysterics too as she backed away from Sonic and stepped to the side too.
"Heheheh...What's wrong, girls? Weren't you going to tag me yourselves? Come over here and tag me!" Sonic replied playfully with a smirk and a devious chuckle as he looked at both Amy and Cream.
"No! Hehehehehehehe!" Amy and Cream exclaimed and giggled in unison as they stared at Sonic with amused looks on their faces.
"Oh? ...So, you want me to tag you guys instead?" Sonic asked playfully with a knowing smile as he saw the nervousness on the girls' faces.
"No! Hehehehehehehehe! Don't!" Amy and Cream exclaimed and giggled again in amusement as they looked a bit playful too.
"Heheheh...It looks like you two are soft after all. Now, come here, you two! I'm going to get ya!" Sonic replied playfully with a mischievous smile and a chuckle as he ran towards Amy first then at Cream.
"Eeeeek! Hahahahahahahahahaha! Get away from us, Sonic! Hahahahahahahaha!" Amy shrieked and exclaimed in amusement while laughing a lot as she ran from Sonic.
"Yeah! Hehehehehehehe! Stay away from us, Mr. Sonic! Hahahahahaha!" Cream exclaimed brightly in amusement as she laughed while running from Sonic too.
"Sorry, ladies! But I'm 'it'! Better keep on running then unless you want to be 'tagged'!" Sonic exclaimed playfully in amusement as he chased after Cream and Amy.
"No! Hehehehehehehehe!" Amy and Cream exclaimed happily before giggling a lot in amusement as they kept running from Sonic. They kept running back and forth from Sonic and had ran behind tall rocks to try to ditch Sonic, but those attempts were useless as Sonic would beat them to it. The girls squealed and laughed again as Sonic tickled them a bit before they managed to run away from him again. Sonic laughed with the girls as he was having fun too. Heh. Sure, we may be childish, but we're having so much fun right now! Chris is really missing out on this! Sonic thought in amusement as he ran while laughing a lot.
"...(Sigh)...And now any form of concentration is broken thanks to these children. How can I possibly focus now when they're so loud and-Ah! Is that what I think it is?!" Chris muttered tiredly with a sigh and another headshake before looking at the wrist communicator and exclaiming in shock when he saw something on screen. He can see that one blip is secluded from the other blips. Chris checked its frequency level and was shocked again when he saw that it was the highest one of all the blips. I can't believe it! I found Tails and Cosmo! All by myself! Wow! Talk about a lucky event! Chris pondered excitedly with a grin as he stared at the screen.
"Hey, guys! Look! I found Tails and Cosmo! Hey! Guys!" Chris exclaimed loudly as he looked at Sonic, Amy, and Cream. However, the trio were busy running around the rocky area while laughing a lot in amusement. Chris frowned when he saw that the trio hadn't listened to him.
So, he tried again by yelling louder, "Hey! Guys! I found Tails and Cosmo! Hey!".
But alas, he was ignored again since Sonic was busy tickling Amy and Cream yet again.
"Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Sonic! Stop! Hahahahahahahahaha! Quit it!" Amy protested playfully while laughing a lot as she felt her left side being tickled again.
"Yeah! Stop it! Hehehehehehehehehehe! No fair! Hahahahahahahaha!" Cream protested playfully while laughing a lot too as she felt her stomach being tickled again.
"What are you two complaining about? It's just a game," Sonic teased playfully with a smirk as he kept tickling Amy and Cream.
"But tickling isn't a part of freeheheheheheheheheeze tag! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! It's cheating! Hehehehehehehehehe!" Amy protested playfully with laughing a lot as she felt her stomach being tickled too.
"Yeah! Hehehehehehehehehehe! You're cheating, Mr. Sonic! Hahahahahahahahaha!" Cream protested playfully while laughing a lot as she tried to get away from Sonic.
"Heh. Maybe I am, but what does Cheese think? Do you want to play 'freeze tag' too, little buddy?" Sonic replied calmly yet playfully with a smile as he looked at Cheese as he floated above Amy and Cream.
"Chao! Chao! Chao!" Cheese chirped happily with a smile as he waved his arms a bit.
"Well then, go on ahead, Cheese. Go get your owner," Sonic replied playfully with a devious smile as he nodded to Cheese.
"Chao!" Cheese chirped happily as he flew down towards Cream and tickled her left side with his little arms.
"Eeeeek! Hehehehehehehehehehehehe! Cheese! No! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!" Cream protested playfully with a shriek as she laughed even more while squirming to the right side a bit.
"Yeah, you go get Cream, Cheese. I'll handle, Amy," Sonic replied calmly yet playfully with a smirk as he moved his both hands onto Amy's sides.
"Aaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Sonic! No! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Stop! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! Have mercy! Hehehehehehehehe!" Amy protested playfully after squealing again as she laughed very much at this. She backed away from Sonic, but he kept tickling at her sides.
"I'll only show mercy when you learn to stay still! It's still called 'freeze' tag, remember? So, stay still while I tickle you," Sonic replied calmly yet playfully with a smug look on his face as he kept tickling Amy.
"No! Hehehehehehehehehehe! I can't do that! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! I'm too ticklish! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!" Amy protested playfully as she laughed a lot while squirming from side to side.
"Heheheh...Well, I guess that you're going to have to learn how to do that cause I'm not stopping for any reason!" Sonic replied calmly yet playfully with a chuckle and a smirk as he tickled Amy at her stomach now.
"Nohohohohohohohohohohohoho! Stahahahahahahahahahap!" Amy laughed very much as she backed away from Sonic after feeling him tickling her stomach.
"Cheese! Hehehehehehehehehehehehe! Stop! Hahahahahahahaha! You're not helping! Hehehehehehe!" Cream protested playfully while laughing a lot as she felt her stomach and sides being tickled a lot.
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese chirped happily with a smile as he kept tickling Cream at her sides and stomach.
"Hahahahahahahahahaha! I love you too, Cheese! Hehehehehehehehe!" Cream exclaimed happily while laughing a lot in amusement.
Chris stared at the trio with a frown and another sigh. He shook his head while pondering calmly. I've heard of being "the third wheel" before. But what about "the fourth wheel", huh? That's how I feel now since these three are busy playing games with each other.
"Alright. That's enough. No more playing games," Chris said calmly with a frown as he typed into his wrist communicator to contact the others through their own wrist communicators.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
"Ah! Our wrist communicators! (Chao! Chao!)" Sonic, Amy, Cream, and Cheese exclaimed in shock as they all stopped at what they were doing and stared at their own wrist communicators. Sonic, Amy, and Cream opened their communicators and saw Chris on screen.
"Hey! I found them, guys! Tails and Cosmo are right down here! I'm going in!" Chris exclaimed through the wrist communicators.
"Ah! So that's where they are!" Amy exclaimed in surprise as she looked over to where Chris is standing and pointed at the ground.
"Well, how about that! Talk about convenient!" Sonic exclaimed brightly with a grin as he looked over at Chris too. He and the others were soon startled and alarmed when they heard Tails speaking.
"Chris! Come quickly! We're trapped! Literally!" Tails exclaimed loudly through the wrist communicators.
"Ah! Tails!" Cream exclaimed in shock as she looked worried. Sonic looked solemn as he turned around and ran towards Chris.
"Ah! Sonic! Let's go after him, Cream! Quickly!" Amy exclaimed in surprise as she looked at Sonic and ran after him.
"Okay! Got it!" Cream exclaimed quickly in surprise as she turned around and followed Amy as Cheese flew with her.
Meanwhile, Chris contacted Tails back while exclaiming solemnly, "I hear you, Tails! I'm coming! I'm coming!".
If only we can find a hole to go into...Chris thought in worry as a sweat drop went down on his head. However, his worries were absolved when he saw Sonic drilling down into the ground while in his Spinball Form.
"Sorry, Chris! But you're too slow!" Sonic exclaimed cockily with a smirk as he dug through the ground. Chris gawked at this as he pondered in shock. We could've done THAT the entire time?! Man, Sonic was right! I AM too slow!
"Sonic! I'm coming for you, baby!" Amy exclaimed brightly as she fell into the hole that Sonic had dug into.
"..." Chris was just speechless as he realized how much easier the search would've been if they had dug underground themselves. Cream soon got towards Chris and looked at him curiously.
"Chris? Are you okay?" Cream asked curiously with a confused yet innocent look on her face.
And for another time today, Chris face-palmed himself in annoyance and in tiredness. He then muttered in defeat, "...I wish that I was Tails...who is young...and smart".
And that's the end of the first bonus game! I do plan to make them mostly short since they're just little, fluffy moments within the main story. They don't progress the story. They're more like little breaks between episodes. And you'll get plenty of them from this point forward! Although I will say that they will stop after episode 72 because the last episodes are like a huge final arc of the show. But for now, there will be more bonus games after most of the episodes. Anyways, guys, we're now entering episodes 63 and 64 as we head into the Midgame! See you guys next chapter!
