Peter Pan's 3rd POV
Pack…
The soft disembodied voice resonated throughout his head, making him jolt in surprise, and so did Izzy and Cubby. Something about that voice was familiar, though, comforting. He realized then that the only one who didn't jump was Jake.
They all enveloped the wolf in a hug as if protecting it.
"This is Jake," the thought would have made anyone who doesn't live in Neverland laugh 'till their lungs burst, but not me. "If he didn't speak, who else could it be?"
He was an actual wolf, and the wolf was purring. He could feel him vibrating under his fingertips, and it was mesmerizing. He could hear him, as loud as those airplanes the people made beyond the Never sea.
The wolf was beautiful, with parts of his fur as black as night, others speckled white like stars, and others making heavy blue, light purple, and touches of pink clouds. Nebulas, if he remembered correctly. If you look closely enough, you might see constellations.
He had piercing blue eyes, scrutinizing me, as if he is reading my soul, looking to see if I was worthy. Of what, I didn't know. There was also a thin layer of protectiveness, but he knew I didn't need it. They were as awe-inspiring as his coat, there seemed to be two colors in there, icy blue, and stormy grey.
He looked regal, and even though he was sitting just like a dog would, he looked as majestic as the moon.
There was a patch of white-blue fur. Right in the center of his forehead, it looked like a crescent moon, shining in the moonlight.
Tinkerbell and I looked amazed by the wolf's fur coat.
And then it hit me.
I realized three fundamental truths at the same time.
1. "He's… the chosen one."
2. I'm going to have to explain the prophecy in his hands in great detail
3. And… "Is that, three tails?!"
Suddenly, a lone cloud blocked the ethereal white moon's rays. "Wasn't it blue last night?" A soft lavender light enveloped everyone present, but mainly Jake. It was familiar and comforting, and at this point, everyone was in silent agreement not to talk.
And then, out came Jake, the human, Jake. But there were things noticeably different. You would have to be an idiot not to notice.
His eyes were swirling with two colors, one I've personally dubbed moon-blue, and a mix of sea green and the same warm forest green he's always had.
See, that's the thing about his eyes, before, they were always forest green. They reminded Peter of when he spent his days under the Neverland sun, with a cool breeze to balance it out.
Anyway, he reappeared with his captain uniform on, and his ears were there, but, weirdly, he had two sets of ears. His regular human ears, and a wolf's ears, sticking out the top of his hat. There seemed to be holes in his hat so his ears could hit snuggly.
But the most surprising part of this was the tail, he had a wolf's tail sticking out in the small of his back, it was as black as his hair, as black and iridescent as a raven's feather. His hair was slightly messy.
He stood on shaky legs, raising his hand to his head to stabilize it and expel the fog and dark clouds behind his eyes. Izzy rose and caught him when he stumbled.
It was at this time that Peter stood up himself and chuckled sheepishly. He scratched the back of his head and looked at the three curiously confused eyes of these kids.
Tinkerbell looked just as nervous as he did.
"I guess I owe you guys an explanation?"
The Quest
No one's POV
They all congregated in the map room. The room with charts, old maps pinned on the walls, and a wooden desk sitting in the middle.
There was a lamp, at the corner of the table. The last time Peter visited, they found out, that the land beyond the Never sea runs on electricity. And through much trial and error, they managed to make it run on it.
It shined on a great big journal, the captain's log, Jake decided it was necessary to keep a log of all their great adventures, past, present, and future, after meeting his hero, Captain Colossus.
Everyone else was always so delighted to write in it. They loved being able to write their most significant and memorable adventures. All of them remember every single thing they did.
It took some time for Jake to get used to his new tail, but now it feels like it's a part of him. Now that they were all settled, Peter reached behind his back and pulled out a scroll that seemingly materialized from thin air.
He absent-mindedly started levitating, his shadow mimicking his every move, while Tink just sat on his shoulder, everyone else heard small bells ringing except Peter.
"This… is the Prophecy of the Master of the Moon Gem."
"Legend says, that the Moon, shining in the night sky, would choose its champion. In all their glory, its lunar rays would shine down on someone it deems worthy, who it had a history with many years ago. That someone would be able to harness its power to keep everyone he loves safe."
"And Jake…" He stares right at him, "That's you."
Izzy and Cubby placed their hands on Jake's shoulders, having noticed Jake with furrowed brows, trying to make sense of what he was told, "but how can you be so sure?"
He smiled softly, "because, in this scroll, it tells the qualities of its new master. Just, true, loyal, courageous, resourceful, smart, amicable, caring, and loving. Trust me, Jake. I know you, but your mates, or pack, know you better." He looked at the two children sitting next to the boy.
"Yes, Jake. We know you, we know that" Izzy points to the scroll, "is you. We love you, and if the moon thinks you're worthy, how much more do you think we do?"
Cubby agreed with her.
Peter abruptly cleared his throat, while Tink just let out the ring of bells, a nervous laugh. "Another thing about this prophecy is that you have to save Neverland." Silence.
Before any of us can say anything, Peter continues, "It says something about someone in the future, someone finding out that Neverland exists, and wanting to use its power for himself."
"This will happen in the far future, maybe a century or two." He stopped when Cubby was trying to get his attention. "Then why tell us now? What about never growing old?"
"I don't know myself, but if I don't there might be major consequences," He replied, eyes roved over the scroll, before adopting a disbelieving expression.
"It says there is a portal, under the Forevertree, that can take you where and when you need to go," He whispered, "And once you are done with this, you will automatically be sent back, and everything will be back to normal."
Three sets of eyes looked back at him in wonder, though one had a layer of confusion. "But, how long will we be gone?" Izzy worriedly asked.
"It seems like you would be gone for however long you need, but for me, you would be gone for about 7 seconds. If that's what you're asking," he said, having gotten over the whole portal thing surprisingly quickly.
"Also, you would come back as the same age you are now."
They seemed to think it over for a little while, before one by one, they had a determined fire in their eyes. Their postures were resolute. That was all the confirmation he needed.
"Well then, shall we go?"
