7pm at the lobby.

Addison fixed her coat when she heard dr. Kelaghan in the distance. It seemed she was accompanied by someone.

As they came down the stairs, Addison noticed Lorraine was accompanied by Cristina. The intern rambled about wanting to know all about the tech-robot Lorraine was to introduce to the hospital in a few weeks.

'I have done research on different kinds of tech-robots and statistics show they have a 20% higher chance of succeeding in recreating a neuro path in the nerves system. Is that what you are going to show us?'

'All in good time dr. Yang.'

'Well yes of course dr. Kelaghan but I wanted to make sure I could be a part of your demo. I would be desperate to try the robot myself and..'

Lorraine stopped as they reached the lobby. Cristina kept rattling on and on. She didn't even notice Addison who smirked at Lorraine for trying to ditch Cristina along the way.

'I'll think about it.'

'Is that a yes, or a half yes?'

'Wauw you're really persistent are you.'

'Yes I am, it's what got me so far.'

'I'm sure it did. Now if you'll excuse me.'

Lorraine mentioned getting past Cristina who blocked her every time she tried to get an answer.

The intern glanced at Addison, noticing she kept Lorraine from her free time.

'Oh sure, thank you for your time.'

Lorraine and Addison walked side by side out of the lobby, leaving a dumbfounded Cristina behind.

'Interns..' Lorraine rolled her eyes. She had to give it to Cristina, she knew what she wanted.

'Wait, till you have to work with them.' Addison replied in an amusing tone.

Both got into the cab Lorraine called before changing.

'To Jane's.' The cab driver nodded and took them to their destination.

A short drive later both women found themselves at a table in Jane's.

The restaurant was well known for its fine dining and cosy ambience.

Addison and Lorraine got a table near a window, overlooking the city which by night was a beautiful sight on its own.

Jazz music could be heard throughout the restaurant, setting the vibe for everyone enjoying dinner.

Addison and Lorraine ordered white wine and started with a smoked salmon on a bed of spinach and roasted forest mushrooms.

'So tell me who Addison is.'

'Well I'm pretty much what you see at work, studied neo-natal, I transferred a few months ago in order…'

Lorraine placed her hand upon Addisons.

'I meant what you like, hobbies, dreams, that kind of thing.'

Addison smiled at the question, she even had to think about what she really liked.

As the evening progresses, the main dish and dessert were eaten between laughter and sharing memories of med school and previous relationships.

It seemed easy for both of them to share stories of the past.

'Are you planning to stay?' Addison asked her colleague once the previous subject had died down.

'I don't know, it depends on what I find here.'

'What is it you're looking for?'

'Well, I'm here to get the tech-robot enrolled in the first place but if someone comes along the path, I'd be more than happy to stay and see where the future brings me.'

Lorraine took Addison on an evening walk. The pier was closeby the Archfield so she figured this was the perfect getaway.

As both women walked down the pier, overlooking some boats passing by, Addison took a halt.

She leaned her elbows on the railing of the pier and shifted her weight on her left leg.

'What's wrong?'

Her colleague joined her when Addison let out a small sigh. Her eyes locked on a boat in the distance.

'Looking back to the past, I always thought my life would have been different.'

Addison paused, her mind taking her back to the memories she shared with Derek.

'I truly believed Derek and I would have been that couple that never broke up.'

Lorraine took in Addisons words, taking her back to her own past.

'The past isn't always the path we wanted but it does take us to new opportunities.'

'Aren't there things you regret?'

'Most certainly, I regret not having kids.'

Addison was surprised by Lore's reply, she felt as if she wasn't the only one who didn't get the chance of having her recent dream come true.

'Why didn't you?'

'My ex wasn't the kids' type.'

'Why didn't you and Derek have children?'

``We talked about it but somehow we kept putting our careers upfront and before you know it..'

Addison sighed.

"Well we all know where that went. It's one of those things I have to let go.'

'Let go? Why?' Lorraine didn't understand why she would let go of her dream just because her marriage was over.

'Because I'm too old? I don't know.' The redhead somehow felt strange hearing the words escaping her lips, maybe it made her realize that she felt old rather than being old.

'Too old? Addie, come on. No one is ever too old to have children.'

'I know, I know. It's just I don't know if I can get pregnant at my age.'

'There are ways you know.' Addison knew Lorraine was referring to IVF and insemination.

A silence fell between them when Lore noticed Addison tear up, her hand drawing circles over her back to ease the memory that could have been.

Addison reached for her handkerchief, drying the tears that made their way down her cheeks.

'You would have been a great mum.'

Dr. Montgomery shrugged, she wanted desperately to believe that.

Both women stared into the distance, the sound of the water hitting the deck of the pier below taking over.

'You know, I really had a fun time. It's been a longtime since I laughed again.'

'I'm glad to hear that. Even though my jokes are hard not to laugh with.'

Addison frowned and played along, smiling when Lore smirked.

'Now that's a good one! Haven't heard that one before.'

'Hey!' Lore bumped her elbow against Addisons.

'We should do this more often.'

'Hmm, I don't know, are you going to insult me again before asking me out?' Lorraine referred to their first meeting at Seattle Grace.

Addison nudged her elbow against Lore's trying to hide the smile on her lips.

'As I recall, you were the one who asked me.'

'If you rather spend the evening with Mark, I will make sure not to intervene again.'

'No, I like spending time with you.'

Addison tucked her hair behind her ear, she seemed to do this when she got shy, Lore noticed.

She had to admit, this was what she liked, being able to talk about everything and anything, without being scared of what the other would think.

'Good, doesn't happen to me every night, I get to share it with a beautiful woman, a surgeon nonetheless.'

'You are flirting with me.'

''Well, you are single right?'

'I am.' Addison tried to hide her smile when she noticed Lorraine taking a step towards her, their bodies inches away from each other.

'Do you like my flirting?'

'Addisons eyes glanced to Lorraines lips as they spoke. Her heart started beating faster as she realized her answer was the truth.

'I do, actually.'

Both pairs of eyes locked and watched one another deeply.

'Why are you holding back?'

Lorraine leaned into Addison, gently placing her lips on hers. The kiss was gentle and silent. Both women had closed their eyes, lingering in the moment.

Addison could feel her heart race inside her chest, wondering if Lorraines did the same.

As they broke apart,

Addison let out a content sigh. Somehow she felt relief wash over her shoulders.

She leaned forward, both of their foreheads touching, locking eyes once more. That moment Addison noticed the hints of blue mixing with green in Lore's eyes.

Both smiled at each other.

They stayed like this for a few moments until Lorraine pulled away by walking a few steps back.

Lorraine held out her arm in order for Addison to hook on. 'Are you coming?'

Addison watched Lore's gesture, many thoughts ran through her mind.

She accepted her arm and hooked hers through Lore's.

A while later they found themselves at Addison's hotel room at the Archfield.

'Thank you for tonight. I really enjoyed it.'

'I did too.'

Addison reached inside her purse, taking her keycard. Her head deciding whether or not to invite Lorraine in.

Her green eyes looked up, only to see how Lorraine had closed in, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

The blonde lingered near her ear for a few moments.

'Don't give up on your dream.' The whisper entered Addie's ear canal, making a shiver run down her spine.

All Addison could do was watch when Lorraine bid her goodnight, disappearing from her view when the elevator doors closed.

Addie swiped the keycard, opening the door of her room.

She kicked her heels off and threw her coat on a seat next to the door.

Her bed caught her as she let herself fall onto it.

Her red flaming hair was spread over the sheets as she laid on her back, watching the ceiling.

Overthinking what the evening had brought.

Her mind wandered to the kiss they shared. A simple kiss. Nothing more, or was it?

Could it be more than what she asked for?

A/N Restaurant part isn't nt detailed cause I don't want to give away too much.
