Chapter 2: Percy
The Demigod Dorms were like nothing Percy had ever seen. The lobby itself was massive, its high vaulted ceiling was made out of ornate marble and outlined with gold. The walls were separated into different colors that according to Jason separated the dorms by year.
The senior dorm lobby walls were black, white, and blue. Each color was glossy and layered with the others to make a beautiful pattern on the wall. The doors on either side of the lobby were white and had brass knobs to open them.
The door on the left, the one Jason led him to, was the male side of the dorm. As they walked through the door Percy heard a ping from Jason's pocket.
"Thalia says that they are outside our room'" Jason said looking at his phone quickly. "The elevators will put us directly in front of them, the stairs will put us behind them. Which do you want to take?" he asked.
Percy nodded in acknowledgment, "let's take the stairs," he said after thinking for a second. "Also, don't tell Pinecone Face anything," he continued with a light chuckle.
"Alright," Jason agreed, slipping his phone back into his pocket. "Our room is twelve flights up," he said as he started towards the door about twenty feet to the right of the elevator.
Percy paused for a second taking in the senior male dorm lobby. The room itself wasn't that large compared to the main lobby, but it was still impressive. Percy looked around the room once, off to one corner of the black white and blue room he saw a row of TVs each hooked up to an Xbox or PS4. On the opposite corner was a small group of desks each sporting a high-grade computer setup. Glancing around one last time as he picked his bag up, Percy turned and jogged after Jason.
"So," Percy said as they entered the staircase, "this place is nice."
Jason looked at him before chuckling. "If you think that's impressive, wait till you see our room," he laughed.
Percy laughed, "Really?" he asked, "is our room that much better?"
Jason nodded. "So Percy," he said questioningly as they ascended the stairs, "Thalia told you about us. Tell me about yourself."
"Okay," Percy replied, "let's see, my name is Perseus Jackson, my birthday is August 18th, my favorite color is blue, and my mom makes the best cookies in the whole world. Also, I love swimming and the water in general, but that comes with the territory of being the son of Poseidon," he said.
Jason looked at him in mock shock as he finished. "The first one you told me, the third one makes sense considering the blue shirt pants and shoes, the third one is a blatant lie, and I never would have guessed that a son of Poseidon likes the water," he said sarcastically. Also, you're 1 month and 18 days younger than me so I get to shower first before bed."
Percy stopped, "how dare you say my mother's cookies aren't the greatest in the world."
Jason stopped as well, "simple, it's because my mom makes the best cookies in the world."
"I see, I see," Percy nodded slowly as he began to climb the stairs again, "we have a classic mom versus mom cookie problem. Also, there is no way in hell you will get the first shower, I want the first shower. I'd even fight you for it." Jason looked at him quietly and Percy could almost see the gears turning inside his head.
"Alright," Jason finally said. "We shall have a cookie competition to see whose mother has a better cookie recipe. The winner gets the first shower."
"You are so on," Percy smirked before continuing up the stairs.
Percy and Jason kept talking and laughing as they continued up the stairs to the twelfth-floor landing.
Percy pulled the door to the dorm floor open and walked into the hall. Looking down the hall, he saw a group of people towards the other end of the hall. Starting off in the direction of the group Percy heard an exclamation from one of its members.
'God damn it," the girl said. "I saw Jason's car a minute ago when I checked through the window. Where is he?" she cursed loudly.
Percy immediately recognized the girl as Thalia and quickened his pace towards her in particular. Percy reached her side as she pulled out her phone.
"I swear to the gods if Jason is not on this floor in one minute with the new kid, I'm gonna spam him so hard with memes that he won't be able to use his phone for the next week." Thalia raged.
Behind him, Percy heard Jason choke as he tried to keep himself from laughing.
"So," Percy asked, "who are we waiting for Pinecone Face?"
Not looking up, Thalia said, "some new guy joined this year, oh and he's Jason's new roommate, duh Kelp Head."
"Oh, cool cool cool," Percy snickered as Thalia continued to stare at her phone.
"God damn it" she finally raged after about thirty seconds. "Guys, I'm gonna call Jason," Thalia said aloud.
Jason burst out laughing.
Thalia looked up in a rage, spotting Jason laughing immediately. "Where is the new kid," she growled, stalking towards him.
Jason broke down laughing harder than before as Percy started chuckling as well.
"And what are you laughing at, Kelp Head" Yhalia roared, wheeling on Percy instantly.
Percy joined Jason on the floor as he broke down into fits of laughter as well. Cackling as Thalia stared him down realization dawning on her face, Percy suddenly heard a new sweet voice from off to his side.
"Excuse me," said the person who Percy could vaguely see was a girl with brown hair and a dark complexion. "would you mind telling me who you are?" she asked him.
Percy could see Thalia's confused expression from the ground where he lay laughing. As a result, Percy started laughing harder
Thalia continued to look surprised for a few more moments before Percy heard another voice that was distinctively male.
"Answer Piper's question," he heard the bulky teen say.
"Pinecone face knows," he laughed pointing at Thalia as he slowly pushed himself off the floor, still chuckling as he dusted himself off.
The group turned to Thalia expecting answers.
"Guys," she said, "meet Jasons new roommate, my stupid comedian of a cousin, Percy Jackson."
The group looked him up and down as Percy finally calmed down completely.
"Nice to meet you, Percy. As Frank said before, my name is Piper," the girl who had asked him who he was earlier said. The rest of the group quickly followed suit, Frank leading them as they mobbed around Percy.
"Sorry I sounded a bit angry,'' he said, scratching his head. As Piper said, my name is Frank," he continued, putting out his hand which Percy shook.
After Frank, a pair of girls who introduced themselves as Hazel Levesque and Bianca Di Angelo came up with Bianca's brother Nico. The girls were nice and introduced themselves as siblings who's godly father was Hades. Nico on the other hand looked at him angrily before giving Percy a harsh warning.
"I don't know your sexuality nor do I care whether your gay or straight," he said, " but if you look at my boyfriend wrong I will kill you."
Percy quickly nodded before replying "no problem, as it is I'm straight as an arrow."
The next person to introduce himself was the blonde boy Nico had pointed out to be his boyfriend.
"I'm sorry about Nico," the boy said as he shook Percy's hand. "My name is Will, I'm our floor medic."
Percy laughed, "Don't worry about it," he said.
Will nodded before walking over to the corner in which Nico was glaring at Percy from the spot he had just left filled quickly by a girl with black hair.
"Your Reyna right?" he said, looking her up and down.
She looked at him surprised. "I am Reyna Avila RamÃrez-Arellano," she said. "How did you know that," her voice laced with a hard edge.
"Your Pinecone Faces girlfriend, right?" Percy asked. "She couldn't stop talking about you for more than a minute, it was kind of cute."
Both Reyna and Thalia went bright red.
"What did you say," Reyna asked embarrassedly.
"Oh am I wrong?" Percy questioned, "because it seemed to me that-"
Thalia cut him off, "say one more thing and I will fry your bed," she said.
"Alright," Percy chuckled. "Who's next," he asked the remains of the group.
"Me, I guess," a red-headed girl said. "I'm Rachel Elizabeth Dare, this is my boyfriend Luke castellan, he is a senior."
Percy looked at her for a second, "do you mind if I call you RED?" he asked.
Rachel laughed quickly before answering, "only if I can call you PJ."
Percy nodded, as he put his hand out to shake Luke's hand. The next person to introduce themselves was a short elvish looking boy with a sneaky grin on his face.
Percy, knowing that according to Thalia this was the pyromaniac of the group, refused to shake hands with the boy who introduced himself as Leo, settling instead with a minor threat as an introduction.
"I've heard of your fiery ways. If you burn anything in my room, I will douse you in some much water. You won't be able to light anything on fire for a month," he said.
The group laughed at the threat, the girl standing next to Leo harder than everyone else.
Leo turned to look at her nervousness evident on his face. "Stop laughing in Sunshine, I don't he was joking," Leo whined to the girl just laughed harder.
Calming herself the girl put her hand out to shake Percy's hand before saying, "I'm Calypso, the idiot that you just threatened is my boyfriend. Please don't hurt him, he was hard to catch."
Leo looked at her before laughing "don't lie Mamacita, I was after you since day one."
Calypso blushed, turning on her boyfriend. "Maybe so but you were too scared to ask me so I wouldn't have needed to do it myself," she fired.
This time Leo blushed, "maybe you're right."
The pair moved to the back of the back as a girl with dark brown hair came forward analyzing his every movement.
"I am Zoe," she said curtly before moving to Bianca's side and intertwining their hands.
Finally, the last member of the group came forward. The girl was possibly the most beautiful person Percy had ever laid eyes on. The girl had stormy gray eyes and blonde hair that curled down to her shoulders like she was a Disney princess.
"I don't recognize you?" Percy asked.
"What do you mean by that?" She answered.
"Well, when I came to visit a couple of months ago and pinecone face was the only one here, she showed me around and showed me pictures of her friends. She didn't show me any pictures of you, I would definitely remember if she did," Percy answered.
Thalia went pale as the girl turned in her direction. "I wasn't sure you were coming back Annie, please understand," she whimpered.
The girl looked at her sternly, "why wouldn't I come back? You guys are my friends," she asked. "Also, Do. Not. Call. Me. Annie," she roared, before composing herself and turning back to Percy.
"So I'm gonna ignore that, '' Percy said looking at her.
"Thanks," she said, "my name is Annabeth Chase."
Percy chuckled.
Is something funny" Annabeth asked?
"Nothing," Percy answered, "just that thanks and Chase rhyme."
Percy turned to the group. "Pinecone Face told me quite a lot about everyone and it's nice to finally meet all of you," he said. "My name is Perseus Jackson, you can call me Percy."
