I don't own the Riordan verse, if I did Jason wouldn't be dead. R.I.P
Annabeth P.O.V
As Annabeth blinked herself awake she found her arms wrapped around a large mass of warmth that seemed to draw her back to the dreamscape she had inhabited but moments prior. Shifting slightly, Annabeth felt the large mass stiffen further in her arms.
"So much for your pillow line huh," she heard it chuckle her senses kicking into overdrive as she realized the mass in question was actually another person. "You awake Annabeth?" she heard the person ask, shaking her from her thoughts.
Pulling away as fast as possible Annabeth surveyed the situation making mental notes as she did so. One, she had slept the night in a dorm room that wasn't hers she realized taking in the sea blue wall color. Two that person wasn't Thalia, Hazel, or Reyna, or any of her other female friends for that matter. Three, the person she had seemingly slept wrapped around was Percy Jackson. And finally, Percy Jackson was really handsome. No, hot would be a better word to describe the muscular figure she was wrapped around, Annabeth thought as she stared at his chiseled and muscular chest a blush rising on her cheeks.
"You finished checking me out?" she heard him say but ignored him as her eyes traveled from his torso to his chin and then lips. "Annabeth," he said again slightly more forcefully. This time it shocked her out of her thoughts. "Are you okay?" he asked when she met his eyes, "you've been checking me out for like three minutes." Annabeth's mouth fell open. "What, like what you see?" he asked with a chuckle.
"Wa-, shit, sorry, so sorry," she blabbered her face blushing redder than a tomato as she hid her eyes in her hands.
"It's fine," Percy chuckled. Besides, sometimes it's nice to have a cute girl checking you out," he laughed as she felt him get out of the bed.
Annabeth blushed, "did you just call me cute?" she asked.
What, its objective," Percy retorted quickly a noticeable blush forming on his face.
Annabeth tried to push the surprising disappointment at his statement away as she heard him mutter something. "What was that?" she asked, her eyes narrowing.
"I said, besides you were the one sniffing me last night," he said looking her directly in the eye.
"I, what, huh? Did I?" her face went from tomato red to the neon tomato once more as she stared at him, her mouth gaping.
She heard Percy broke into a fit of laughter hard enough to bring him to tears as Annabeth brought the blanket she had grabbed for herself to sleep under and ultimately ended up pushed to the side and hid under it.
A few minutes passed and she heard him calm down she pulled the blanket off her head in time to see Percy turn to the door. She watched him open it before he paused, "I'm gonna go make some breakfast, any preferences?" he asked her, glancing back.
Annabeth thought for a second, "can I get waffles?" she asked.
Percy stared at her for a second, "hell no," he replied.
Annabeth blanked, "what?" she asked.
"Also I take back my cute comment," he added in a joking tone "anyone who likes waffles obviously can't be cute, or trusted."
Annabeth stared at him as he turned, he hadn't put on a shirt she noticed as she stared at his back before panicking. Looking down she made sure she was still wearing her clothes as she jumped from the spot she had wrapped herself up in the blanket.
Sighing in relief as she found her slightly ripped legging and wrinkled orange half-blood dorm t-shirt still in place on her body she noticed that her shoes were still on. Sighing once again this time in annoyance, everyone knew Annabeth hates sleeping in her shoes, except Percy Jackson, apparently. She would have to tell him so when this happened again she wouldn't sleep in her shoes she thought walking over to the door.
Wait, again? She thought as she paused at the door. This can't happen again, she thought to herself as her mind began to drift back to Percy's handsome face and chiseled warm, and huggable torso. Blushing, Annabeth shook her head once more before walking through the door. Upon entering the hallway she was greeted by the sight of a shirtless Percy in the kitchen causing her to blush as she fought the urge to walk over and run her hands down his back, or maybe kiss his neck.
"So, if no waffles then what?" she asked, taking a seat at the convenient island in the middle of the kitchen and watching him jump about four feet in the air.
"Shit, you scared me," he said, turning around towards her angrily.
Annabeth laughed, "sorry, sorry," she apologized, pausing before she asked, "so? What's for breakfast?"
Percy turned back to the counter before declaring, "I am gonna convert you!"
Annabeth looked at his back, "that doesn't make any senseā¦" she said trailing off as she got up to see what he was doing.
"It means we are having the best pancakes you've ever tasted," he grinned as she watched him expertly crack an egg into the bowl.
"So we're having pancakes then," she said with a laugh. "Alright, put on some music while you work," she added as an afterthought when she sat back down.
"I wasn't sure what you liked, or if you even wanted to listen to music this early in the morning," he replied, not stopping for a second. "Besides, how would I even play anything?" he asked her.
"I keep forgetting that you're new," she laughed as she looked around for the one thing all of the dorm house apartments had in common, the Amazon Echo (NOT SPONSORED). Finding what she was looking for, Annabeth looked back to Percy who had moved from counter to stove and was now pouring pancakes with trained precision. "You know each room has an Echo, you can use that to play music," she said.
Percy glanced at her questioningly.
"I'll take that as a no," she muttered to herself before pausing for a moment to think of a song then calling out to the Echo, "Alexa, play Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses," she requested
"Ooh this is my jam," Percy said, giving a little dance before flipping one of the many pancakes he had poured. "It seems that you may have some redeeming qualities after all," he added with a chuckle.
"Hey, that's not fair, what's wrong with liking waffles anyway," she retorted angrily.
Percy turned to look at her with a blank stare for a second before saying, "literally everything."
"Wha-"
"I mean saying waffles are good is like saying my mom's cookies aren't the best in the world, or that Hera isn't an asshole for driving Hercules mad multiple times, or that Jason's mother's cookie recipe is better than my moms. I was once told by someone that believing any of these things makes a person insane," Percy said, in a rant like fashion not taking his focus off the pan in his hands. "But, you're okay now, because I brought a batch of cookies with me and I'm about to convert you from you perverted waffle liking tendencies," he continued as he finally poured the last pancake.
Annabeth just sat there staring at him, her jaw on the floor in shock from what he had just said. "What, how, why, what do you mean perverted," she yelled.
The door burst open, "will you shut up," yelled a voice. Startled, Annabeth fell out of her seat, looking to the door she saw angry Nico with a tired and disheveled hair Will clinging to his arm.
"Oh hey Nico, Will," she said looking at the two.
"Hey Annabeth," the two said, both glancing at her, before looking at Percy.
"So, who's making all the-" will begin before Nico cut him off.
"Wait Annabeth? Why are you here? This is Jason and the new kid's room," Nico asked her in shock.
"Piper and Jason went back to her dorm last night so I allowed Annabeth to stay here," Percy cut in as she felt her face grow a bit warm, "I slept on the couch and gave her the bed."
Will and Nico looked at him skeptically, "really?" they asked in unison.
Annabeth nodded furiously in confirmation as the two looked at her. Silently she shot Percy, a pleading look to which he responded with a nod.
"By the way, Annabeth thinks waffles are good so I made pancakes for breakfast but I may have gone a bit overboard and made too many, do you guys want to stay for breakfast?" Percy asked.
This time it was Will who was nodding furiously in confirmation as Percy placed a large plate layered with at least 15 nice fluffy looking pancakes. Annabeth could practically see the disappointment in Nico's eyes as he turned to her drool coming out of the corner of his mouth.
"I've known you for 5 years, in that time you have left me for dead in war games, used me as bait in capture the flag, and purposefully failed us on a project because I suggested using a different font for our title, yet this is the most horrific and traitorous thing you've ever done to me," he said.
Annabeth sighed at his words before grabbing a plate, fork, and knife from the stack Percy had pulled out.
"Alright, let's see what the hype is about," she said, placing a couple of pancakes on it before walking over to the table in the dining room and sitting down to eat.
The moment Annabeth took a bite from the first pancake she changed her mind. Percy was right, pancakes were the far superior food compared to waffles, that wouldn't stop her from having waffles, but he was right nonetheless.
"These are heavenly," she heard Nico say, the taste of the first bite still almost completely overwhelming her other senses.
"Are you the god of pancakes or something," she heard Will ask in the kitchen. He was right, Percy had to be the god of breakfast, there was no way these pancakes could taste so good otherwise.
"If you think these are good, just wait till I break out the cookies," he said walking into the dining room as well Nico and Will following behind him.
"I'm gonna message Jason," Annabeth said as the three sat, "what should I say?"
"Ooh, ooh, ask him how his night with Piper was?" Percy said, waving his arm in the air like a student who wanted to be picked.
"I am not saying that," Annabeth replied, shooting him down fast as a bullet, though she was sure that they noticed her cheeks go slightly pink at his implication.
"You could just tell him Percy is making pancakes," Will suggested.
"Good idea, tell him that they're heavenly," Nico added.
"That'll work,'' Annabeth said, pulling out her phone and typing word for word what had been said. It only took a moment for Jason to respond.
dantethunderstone: where are you
AthenasDaughter1: you're dorm, I assume you're with piper
dantethunderstone: I am, we are on our way, we'll grab Thals and the gang.
AthenasDaughter1: Good, get over here, Percy is making pancakes.
Annabeth sighed slightly.
"So, are they coming," Percy asked.
She nodded, they're at my dorm, but they're gonna round up the rest of the gang.
"Fuck," Percy muttered, "I need to make more pancakes then," he groaned walking back into the kitchen. Minutes later, Annabeth could smell the sweet, blissful scent of frying pancakes. Percy had converted her alright, but her pride would never let her tell him that.
Hello, wonderful people who have actually decided that my garbage writing is decent enough to read. for that I thank you.
In case your wondering why I update so sporadically, it is because I have a lot of school work to do. That and I mainly write when I'm in the mood, but while the mood comes often, I can always think of how to write a chapter properly so I settle with a one-shot or short story. maybe in the future, I'll publish one of those.
Enjoy
Review, please.
Also, I love constructive criticism.
