Day and Night

Chapter 24

"Miss Destine, it's time to go home," Alicia tapped on the door frame.

Dominique looked up, blinking. "Ah, I must have lost track of time."

Weirdly, Alicia was wearing a long, tan trench coat. She entered the office, then closed the door behind her.

"Eh?" Dominique blinked.

Alicia locked it, then looked at Dominique intently. "I know you don't celebrate Christmas, but I wanted to give you a present anyway," Alicia said.

"You really shouldn't...," Dominique started.

In a graceful gesture Alicia shrugged off the coat, revealing she was naked under it. Scratch that, she was wearing filmy undies that basically hid nothing at all.

"EEEP," Dominique yelped.

"Merry Christmas, ma'am," Alicia purred.

"Hominomu..." Dominique said something incoherent as Alicia stalked towards her.

"Just sit back honey," Alicia continued as she gracefully straddled her boss, "this little cowgirl is gonna ride."

"Ack," Dominique was startled awake by a soft knocking sound, realizing she had been sleeping at her desk.

Alicia was peeking in by the door, looking at her with mild amusement. "Dozed off?" she asked a little teasingly.

Dominique realized she was blushing after her rather naughty dream and smiled weakly. "Something like that," she admitted.

Because of her unique human/gargoyle transformation, Dominique didn't really sleep. But some part of their brain seemed to require dreaming, and she would slip into a doze and do that. It was honestly kind of annoying.

As to the dream... well, she had read up on humans and sex after she heard that Goliath was dating a human. Out of curiosity and, admittedly, a little jealousy. So apparently her memory combined some of that and Alicia. Erk.

"You shouldn't work so hard, ma'am," Alicia chided gently.

"Yeah, yeah," Dominique smiled wryly. She stretched, then continued, "Actually, I meant to ask you something."

"Oh?" Alicia asked.

"David Xanatos has invited me to his Christmas party. I was wondering if you wanted to come along?" Dominique asked. "No pressure, of course."

"Don't want a rent-a-date again?" Alicia teased mildly.

"No," Dominique met her eyes seriously, "I'd just rather be there with you."

"Oh." Alicia murmured. "Will we be attacked by monsters again?" she asked her, clearly remembering the last party they went to at the Castle.

"I can't promise it won't happen," Dominique admitted.

Alicia smiled, "Well, I suppose we'll just have to take the chance."

"If you need a new dress, charge it on the company card," Dominique added.

"But..." Alicia started.

"I'm not letting you pay for a thousand dollar dress you'll wear once," Dominique said firmly.

"Okay, okay," Alicia conceded.

Fox Xanatos burst into laughter.

"I knew I shouldn't have told you," Dominique sighed.

The two women were sort of friends, in an odd kind of way. Neither knew a lot of people they could discuss some of the odder things in their lives, like Gargoyles, elves, etc etc. And both knew each other's secrets as well.

Fox sat back in the chair in Dominique's office as she commented, "I didn't know Gargoyles were bisexual."

"We don't consider sexuality in the same way humans do," Dominique admitted.

"Hmm," Fox nodded. She paused a moment then admitted, "I was a bit jealous of you, when David and I first got together."

"What," Dominique blinked.

Fox smirked, "You are physically attractive, you're exotic, and you worked closely with David for awhile. So, I wondered."

"Sorry, just... no." Dominique shook her head.

Fox continued impishly, "At one point, I nearly suggested that David, you and I could... you know."

Dominique looked horrified, "Oh gods no."

Fox pouted, "I'm not that unattractive."

Dominique added, "It's more... well, usually Gargoyles mate for procreation. Though obviously we do it for fun too. But..."

Fox was amused as hell watching Dominique flail about. She was usually so cool and reserved. "Anyway... have you told her about this?" she asked.

"Are you insane?" Dominique countered.

"She might be interested in you as well," Fox said calmly, "and how else can you know but by asking?"

"I'm a gargoyle half the time," Dominique said, "It could never work."

"Tell that to Maza and Goliath," Fox said gently.

"Hmph," Dominique sighed.

"You're coming to the party tomorrow?" Fox changed the subject.

"Yes, barring the usual craziness getting involved," Dominique said.

"We've upgraded security, hopefully we won't have a re-run of last time," Fox sighed. "Anyway... I noticed your Alicia is a pretty, feminine thing. Maybe you should butch it up, this time?"

EVERY YEAR, without fail, Alicia got a X-Mas gift in the mail from her uncle Anton. It was bizare.. she knew the feds checked her mail for signs he contacted her. Yet somehow he always managed to get a gift through. Usually money.

"Officer Bluestone?" Alicia said as she phoned him, "Yes, another package. I'll bag it up, hopefully your people can work some forensic magic." She paused, "Happy Holidays to you too."

Alicia hung up, just as her phone chirped again, reminding her it was time. She locked up her apartment and wend down to the street, seeing Dominique waiting beside her car.

'Oh wow,' Alicia thought, her eyes widening.

Dominique was sleekly graceful, dressed in a midnight black tux. Tailored to fit it hugged her curves while giving her an intense, handsome energy.

At the same time Dominique seemed to be taking in Alicia. She had, luckily, picked out a stylish, silver-white dress that clung to her body, but flared out around her legs for ease of movement.

"You took lovely," Dominique purred.

Alicia blushed, wondering if she had noticed her staring. "You too," she said quietly. She smiled, "I'm sorry I have to share you with the rest of the party."

Dominique smirked, "I don't share."

Alicia sat beside Dominique in the back seat as the driver swiftly took them to Xanatos' corporate headquarters, and the Castle perched on the top. They got out, as a mob of photographers took pictures, then headed inside.

"I hate that," Alicia shuddered. After her uncle went bad they had been chased by the press... this was an unpleasant reminder.

Dominique gently placed a hand on her shoulder, squeezing comfortingly.

Alicia smiled back, both of them pausing as they took the elevator up.

"Welcome," Owen said with his usual calm as they stepped out of the elevator. "Come this way," he continued.

"Happy holidays, Mr Burnett," Alicia said politely.

"Indeed," Owen agreed blandly as he lead them to the main hall.

"Welcome! Welcome," David beamed as they entered, the huge space only moderately crowded.

"David, Fox," Dominique hugged both, and Alicia had to stomp on an odd feeling of jealousy. The three looks so GOOD together.

Fox surprised her by hugging Alicia too. "It's so nice to see you again," Fox smiled.

"Uh... thank you," Alicia squeaked.

Dominique had the oddest look on her face.

"The bar is open, and several guests have arrived," David waved them inside, "have fun."

Dominique and Alicia walked together as Alicia murmured, "Would you likje me to get you a drink or something, ma'am?"

"Let's stay together," Dominique answered.

To be continued...
