Gargoyles: Day and Night

Chapter 26

Dominique had her driver stop at Alicia's apartment, and she walked the younger woman to the entrance. "Thank you for being my date," Dominique smiled.

"No, thank you," Alicia smiled warmly.

Demona chuckled softly, "I had a good time, too."

Alicia hesitated, then pressed her lips to Dominique's cheek. "Have a good night," she added as she hurried in.

Dominique stood there frozen for a moment, then headed back to the car. "Home," she ordered her driver.

As they drove Dominique found herself thinking of the dancing, earlier. It had felt so good, having Alicia snuggling close, her scent washing over her. She hadn't wanted to let the other woman go, even with the song ending...

'And she kissed me,' Dominique thought.

"Ma'am?" her driver said. "We're here."

"Thank you," Dominique answered. Ashe got out she told him "I'm done for the night. Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, ma'am," he smiled then drove off.

Dominique went inside, relieved to see she had made it home before nightfall. She stripped her expensive suit off, then allowed the transformation to take her.

"Aaarooow!" Dominique howled in pain as human flesh became gargoyle, and from her back erupted leathery wings.

Fully transformed Demona stayed crouched, waiting for the last of the pain to pass. "Damn you Puck, does it have to hurt so much," she muttered angrily.

Demona walked up to the top of the building, looking out over the city. Snow blew, and she smiled as she stretched out her wings.

"Wait a minute," David Xanatos blinked at his wife, "Dominique and Alicia?"

"Aren't they adorable?" Fox mused.

"I guess," David admitted. "I have a hard time not envisioning her as Demona."

"Demona/Alicia might be hot too," Fox noted.

"So... are you going to encourage this?" David had to ask.

"I kind of already have," Fox smugly admitted. She passed on the erotic dream that Demona had confessed to her about having about Alicia, and how she had suggested her and Alicia go to the party together.

"Okay, that's hot," David mused.

"David!" Fox smacked him.

David laughed, "I'm a guy, dear. Girl on girl is hot.'

"Well, if you are a very, very good boy, maybe I'll arrange that for us one day soon," Fox teased him impishly.

David actually blushed.

Fox looked thoughtful as she mused, "I guess there's not much that we could do to try to get them together."

"That, and I suspect Demona would get very, very annoyed at us for doing anything overt," David pointed out.

"She does have a temper," Fox conceded.

"I'm bored!" Hyena complained, the combat cyborg lounging around.

"Hi bored, I'm Jackal."

"Oh god, not dad jokes," Hyena groaned.

"I thought it was funny," Coyote offered.

Panther was reading a ebook on the couch, ignoring them.

"Where's Wolf?" Jackal asked.

"Getting us some takeout," Panther answered casually, "he's the only one of us who still passes for human."

"We're supposed to stay holed up here," Coyote complained.

"Don't be boring," Hyena said, "I hate boring."

"No new jobs from Mr Dacon?" Panther asked, changing the subject.

"Not yet," Jackal replied.

All of them expected a new job fairly soon. The gang war between their boss and Mace Malone was steadily heating up. In addition to shooting at each other, there was going to be territory raids, and they'd be very effective for that.

"Honey, I'm home," Wolf called as he came in with the takeout.

"Gimmie," Panther said eagerly.

"I sometimes miss being organic enough to get hungry," Hyena mused.

Jackal shrugged, "Maybe. But the trade-offs are pretty good."

"Feed me," Coyote added jokingly.

Wolf laughed, "Yeah, yeah."

Demona let the updrafts carry her across the city. She landed in line of sight of Alicia's apartment, settling there a moment. Alicia had changed out of her dress into a cute fuzzy robe, and was drinking something.

For a moment Demona was tempted to go visit her, but she stopped herself. Her assistant was probably tired after tonight... and Demona pretended not to notice her own nervousness and fear.

"Heeelp!" a desperate voice cried.

Demona dropped into the street, startling the mugger. "As it's Christmas, I'll give you a chance. Drop your weapon and go."

The mugger looked at her blankly, then charged her waving the knife.

"Seriously?" Demona slapped the blade out of his hand, then knocked him out.

"Oh, thank you," the man blurted out.

"You aren't some mobster or notorious criminal?" Demona wondered.

"Huh?" the man blinked.

"Never mind," Demona waved it off as she scaled a wall, then soared off.

Surprisingly things were otherwise quiet across New York. No robberies, muggings... there was little to do. She landed on a rooftop, watching as two humans dealt with a stuck car,

"I can't believe you drove into a snowbank, Brandon!"

"Sorry dear," the man sighed, pushing at the back of the car.

Demona moved to go, then she paused. 'Alicia would try to help them.' she thought to herself with a sigh.

"Oof," the man shoved.

Demona dropped down beside them with a thud, making the man yelp in alarm. "Move," she ordered him briskly.

"Brandon?!" the woman sounded alarmed.

Demona braced herself and pushed, easily getting the car unstuck as the human looked on in awe and disbelief.

"Thank you!" Brandon managed, his wife still in shock.

"You're welcome," Demona walked off, then on a odd impulse added, "Happy Holidays."

As she scaled the wall up to the roof, Demona felt a familiar presence. "Not what I expected to see you doing," Goliath rumbled.

"It's been a slow night," Demona said dryly.

"Ha! Yes," Goliath agreed.

"How are the others?" Demona asked after a awkward silence.

"Well, everyone is well," Goliath said, He added, "As is Angela."

Demona sighed quietly.

"You could come by the aerie," Goliath suggested. He continued, "Hudson and the others would welcome you."

"There's too much bad blood, still," Demona shook her head.

Goliath didn't exactly argue that. "Angela would like to see you," he said instead.

Demona made a face, "I really don't know what to say to her."

"Hmm," Goliath sighed.

For a moment Demona was tempted to ask Goliath how he had romanced Maza. 'Oh hell no,' she thought, horrified.

"Are you all right?" Goliath asked as the oddest look passed over her face.

"I have to go," Demona blurted them took off.

To be continued...
