Day three of Christmas Break and im ready to put my head in the toaster. Bored out of my mind. Ive revised the hell out of the last 12 chapters. (I think there's twelve). One can only listen to construction and WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY outdated 80s pop for so long before ones sanity starts to dwindle. Anyways, thank you to those who favorited, and followed, and to the one reviewer. Your review meant a lot, gracias. I don't own Twilght.

DANI

Kensi and Embry emerge from the forest after hours of being gone. Kensi still has her sword and weapons, but she's wearing jeans and the gray dry-fit tee shirt that's part of the Guardian's traditional wardrobe for hunting and going to war.

She's locked and loaded. Her face is gaunt and there are dark circles under her eyes. She's gone into hunting mode, running every night patrol, while I run every day one. Preventative measures so that there aren't any more wolves that go missing.

It has been two weeks since Sam went missing, and every single day Emily gets worse and worse.

Kensi is hardly there, always out hunting for him, looking for him. She's extended her reach further into the surrounding cities, searching everywhere for him.

Kensi has swept all of Port Angeles by now, but no sign of him. She's swept all of Forks too but there's nothing.

I bounce my niece on my hip as Kensi walks up. There's a scowl on her face as she walks ahead of Embry, brushing past me and into the kitchen.

I snap out and grab Embry's wrist.

"How is she?" I ask quietly.

Embry drags a tired hand over his face. He refuses to let her go into the woods alone since he was attacked. And I'm glad he goes, I just wish he would fight a little harder to keep her out of them too. I feel awful for him. Every time he looks in the mirror, sees that small pink scar, he's reminded that his imprint isn't safe currently.

"It's killing both of us. Physically because she doesn't sleep and I can't sleep knowing she's in danger. And then when she does sleep, she pretends so I fall asleep, and then she goes off to Port Angeles or somewhere in between to hunt for Sam. She's going in all directions looking for him. Don't get me wrong, we all are, but she's just tireless."

"She's pissed actually." I answer inhaling the scent of Mackenzie in my arms.

Embry nods tiredly. "I can feel it sometimes." He whispers. "Sam…" There's a wince. "Sam always believed that the more an imprint is ignored or declined or pushed away the stronger it becomes. I can sense some of her emotions at this point if they're really strong. Toward the end of our patrol routes, I can sense that she's frustrated, and tired, and angry, and desperate."

I nod. "How much sleep have you gotten?"

"Probably about 14 hours the past two weeks?" He offers.

Which is pitiful.

"You might just have to tie her down to get her to sleep." I retort playfully.

Embry grips the roots of his hair. "I thought about telling her... but I don't want to scare her off you know?"

I offer him a reassuring smile. "You've got forever with her if you want it. But…" I wince glancing at his brown eyes. "It might be easier to put up with this kind of pain instead of putting up with the pain of her ignoring and rejecting you. Because no matter how tough the imprint pull is between you two, she will be stronger and she will win."

"She's a stubborn girl like that." Embry smiles. It's tight and it's pained. He misses Sam. He needs him back. His brother. But his imprint is wearing him down. Worst of all, Sam would've been the one to help him through it. Sure Jake is trying, but Jake is no Sam in this case.

"I'll talk to her Embry." I promise him.

He looks at me but he sure as hell doesn't look hopeful.

I walk inside with Mackenzie and pass her back to Paul. I don't try to throttle him anymore, but we aren't best friends either.

Kensi is talking to Jared and Jake about her patrol.

"Kensi." I bark from the doorway. I walk past Jake and lean behind him, grabbing my sword from behind him. "Outside."

"Dani?" Jake asks.

I give him a look and mouth one word. "Embry."

Jake looks confused as I grab Kensi by her pony tail and drag her through the kitchen, past Embry who is shoving food into his face at the kitchen table, past Emily who is absentminded scrubbing the same dish she was fifteen minutes ago, and out the door.

I shove her down the stairs as I toss my sword over my body. "For the love of God, will you please explain to me why you are doing this to him?" I hiss.

Kensi looks shocked when I lunge at her, the blade flashing in the otherwise rare sunlight.

"What the hell are you on about?" Kensi growls. "If you're talking about Embry, then I'll have you know that I try with everything in me to get him to stay. I can't very well get him to leave me alone right now after Sam went missing."

"So then maybe you should sleep too? My god, Kensi you're killing yourself and him."

"So then why doesn't he just go home and sleep for a while. I do this all the time." She shrugs off.

I growl in frustration as she swings at me. She twists around, blocking my blade by throwing her sword behind her shoulder. She pivots around once more, shoving me backwards and skillfully kicking me even further back.

I lunge at her, our blades clashing against each other. Sparks shoot off our blades as they collide. "You know damn well why he follows you everywhere." I snarl at Kensi.

She freezes, her muscles going rigid. Her sapphire blue eyes widen marginally, and her knuckles turn white on account of the grip on the hilt of her blade.

"Embry will not rest while you might be in danger." I hiss. "We are all doing our best, but you aren't doing your best by depriving yourself of sleep and food."

"Dani we do this all the time." Kensi growls. "You and I can go weeks and hell, months without proper sleep and food!"

"But they can't." I snarl shoving her backwards. Kensi flips backwards before landing back on her feet and leaping forward. "You don't seem to think that I want to be out there with you. I do, trust me I do. I want to be there with you when we find Sam and hunt the bastard that took him. I want to be there, but I know that Jake is going to come with, invited or not. Wolves cannot keep up with our hours, Kensi. You are going to kill Embry if you don't stop."

That seems to send a shock through Kensi.

"Embry doesn't need to follow me." But she knows better, the look on her face and tone of her voice tells me as much.

"Oh but he does sister. He can't stand to let you out of his sights." I snarl at her. "He can't sleep when he knows you aren't sleeping, but out potentially in danger! And that thing where you wait for him to fall asleep and sneak out, that isn't healthy. Because it's only a few hours before he realizes you're gone and then he's awake the rest of the night anyway."

Kensi shakes her head at me. "Dani, I'll talk to him. I'll convince him-'

"No." I start. "No. You won't. Don't you think I tried that with Jake? Don't you think I tried to convince him that I'd be safe and fine out there at night? Don't you think I tried sneaking away? Don't you think I tried doing what you did? Of course I did. But Jake would've followed me anyways. And unlike you, I care about people besides my twin and myself, and I refuse, I object to subjecting him to the same torturous hell you are putting Embry through."

I watch as Kensi's eyes widen in horror. "You think I'm doing this on purpose!" She hollers. Her hands ignite the hilt of her sword, which she swings around. She's not sparring anymore. I pissed her off. "I'm not fucking BLIND Dani! I can see what the long nights are doing to him! There's nothing I can do! Unlike you, I can't sit around and play the fucking housewife role like you! I can't sit here and do nothing! I can't sit here, and watch Emily writhe in pain as her wolf is missing like you can! I can't just do nothing for so long. I can't sleep knowing that Sam is out there somewhere, and someone I previously trusted is responsible for his abduction! I'm sorry if that might sit right with you but I refuse to just FUCKING SIT HERE AND DO NOTHING!"

"I'm not asking you to!" I holler at her with a shriek of fear as Kensi's flaming form lunges at me. She flashes over, her entire body a flaming column of fury as she leaps at me. "I'm asking you to sleep eight hours at night, and bring food with you when you go. If not for yourself, then for Embry. Because you know he is going to follow you."

Kensi opens her mouth but I cut her off by slamming her flaming form with water.

Kensi's shrill scream of anger is cut short as her fire fizzles out. She cries in outrage, but she isn't angry enough to ignite into flames again.

"If you care about that boy whatsoever, even if it's just a little bit, you aren't going to keep doing this to him. You're killing him, Kensi."

I grab my sister's smoldering form and shove her into the mud, feeling said mud wick up the knees of my jeans.

"That man is crazy about you Kensi." I whisper. "He would walk through the fire you created to make distance between the two of you, just so he could see your eyes. Embry is in love with you Kensi, in case you missed it."

Kensi snarls at me. "I don't believe in that shit and you know it."

"Oh but you've admitted it before." I retort shoving her into the mud. Kensi struggles underneath me, hoping to fight me off but I'm not going to let her. "You talk in your sleep sister. I know you feel something for him because you don't say his name in your sleep for no reason."

Kensi blushes bright red before looking everywhere but my face.

"I know you care about him, and for his sake, you have to stop this insanity. We all want to find Sam, and we're all trying, but we can't be killing each other along the way."

Kensi glares at me. "You realize how weak this has made us right?" She snarls. "They imprinted on us and we can't even track like we used to because of it. Love is weak. It's a weakness. It creates a distraction. Sure, it's a strong emotion, a powerful emotion, but it isn't like anger that can be transformed into fuel in a battle. Love is the strongest weakness out there. And look at us now. Look at you. So in love with Jake that it's limiting your powers and abilities now. Look at Mara. Love forced her from her position. Look at the werewolves. Imprinting shows them their soulmate and dials up the passion, and they have no free wills anymore. Their entire life is dedicated to the protection of their imprint."

Kensi glares at me with her knowing eyes. "A wolf would run himself to mortal exhaustion just for his imprint."

And now I know we're on the same page. She knows I know that she knows Embry imprinted on her. And I know she knows that Embry imprinted on her.

"Love is weak." Kensi spits again. "It gives people another weakness. It gives the enemies a pushpoint, it gives them leverage."

She throws me off and stands up, mud covering her almost entirely. "Love binds you to a single person and alters your priorities."

Kensi stalks forward and I adjust the grip on the hilt of my sword. "Love is a distraction, and those are fatal at the wrong time."

She twirls a fiery blade around her wrist, switching from wrist to wrist. "Love is motive for murder." I'm playing with fire. Don't care.

"Love hurts, love is pain, I mean, look what it's doing to Emily." Kensi scoffs.

"Love weakens the part of your brain that detects danger." Kensi lunges but I dodge her blade. I let her pin me into the mud this time so I can whisper to her.

"And yet you still fell in love with Embry Call didn't you?" I hiss at her. "You still undeniably fell head over heels for him. You would do whatever anyone wanted if they held him at the throat with a sword. You would tell them whatever they wanted to know. Love is making you alter your hunting regime, you'll sleep more and bring food so Embry won't kill himself covering your six because I refuse to make my wolf choose between following me into the woods to assure my safety or his own health."

I flip Kensi over into the mud again. "You're looking for whoever did this because you want to kill her for hurting the person you love. Sure, loving someone might hurt, but being alone and cold hurts worse than being warm and the feeling of being loved."

I dig my elbow into Kensi's clavicle listening to her groan in pain between her teeth. "And love doesn't lower your danger detection. It heightens your senses and gives you something to fight for."

I glare into Kensi's eyes. "Anger might be a powerful motivator as you said, Kensi, but anger wears off. One your fire is extinguished, you can't start up again. But if you fight with love, for the person you love, you will be unstoppable."

Kensi's scowl deepens before she throws me off of her. I land on my feet, settling myself using the wind.

Kensi flies to her feet with a furious glance.

"I think you're full of shit." She snarls. "Personally."

I smirk as Kensi glowers. "It's alright to admit that you're wrong!" I holler after her.

At this the whole goddamn pack filters out of Emily's house.

Kensi shakes her head, flipping me the bird as she walks backwards into the tree line.

"When you said you were going to talk to her, I didn't think you meant you were going to kick her ass." Embry hisses at me.

"Watch it Em." Jake growls.

"I might've pissed her off." I say defensively. "It happens to frequently occur with Kensi." I snarl at Embry. "You'd find that out if you manned up and told her."

Embry's eyes widen. "You literally just told me not to. And I agree after listening to half of that conversation! I can take being led on like a horse to water but I doubt I could handle it if she decided to cut off all ties with me."

"You are a fucking coward Embry." Paul snarls from behind Embry. "That's my sister, what's the worst she could do-"

"Oh Kensi!?" I laugh. My voice is angry, sounding like a psychopath. "Kensi will make castration look damn pleasant. She's cold-blooded when she needs to be. There's a reason Morrow didn't put up a fight, and that's because he was scared shitless."

"Where is she going then?" Embry asks.

I shrug. "She takes off when she gets mad. She'll probably flashover again and be back later."

Embry's fingers lock over the top of his head, his hair askew. I file the image away for Kensi later, her wolf, the man who made her his even if she hasn't entirely accepted that, looking attractively frazzled by her disappearance. Unfairly fine as she described him in her sleep talk.

I'm back to holding Mackenzie, my beautiful little niece when the smell of leech hits my nose.

Grosser than I remember regular leach-stink, it's a Cullen bloodsucker.

Edward and Bella Cullen walk into Emily's.

Both vampires freeze at the sight of me in the room. Seth and Jacob take turns looking between me and the two parasites in the room.

Edward gazes at me but I open my mouth before he can even speak.

"You're about to comment, Nessie is fine." I vow. "I trust your coven, and the Denali coven. Anyone else is a stretch. Nessie is safe with me, she's an imprint, and also has my protection."

"Your sister?" Bella asks.

"Well Kensi is currently PMSing, so it's up in the air." I retort sarcastically. "Kensi is going to fight for any imprint a hell of a lot harder than I ever could. Not to mention she's honor-bound to the Cullens after Carlisle reset my ribs."

"Where is Kensi?" Edward asks.

"Who knows!?" I retort a little irritated with her. I means she knows Embry imprinted on her and she's got the fucking audacity to proceed in doing things that she now knows are going to tax him physically, no matter how much they don't even affect her.

"Okay." Jake says coming into the room. "Dani told us that Kensi is a revered and feared name in the vampire world. True?"

Edward nods. "Very. When the Volturi requests a consul with the Elemental Guardians, the hierarchy sends Kensi with a wire to speak. And when they need something from the Volturi, the Elemental Guardians send Kensi. Aro is terrified of her."

Jake glances at me. "Why is that?"

"Well, all vampires are naturally afraid of a creature that can explode into flames."

"Creature?" I snarl at Edward. "Honey Elemental Guardians aren't the mythical ones here. The only mythical creatures here are you."

Edward and Bella share a look before pointing to the werewolves. "They're legendary there's a difference. The Spirit Warriors are derived from a series of legends passed down through the generations by word of mouth and native to one tribe, making it a legend. However myths belong to a larger culture and often involve more than one people, and definitely more than one translation. Regular werewolves, Children of the Moon, the counter to Children of the Night, have millions of different translations of the same myth, making you the only mythical creatures in the room."

Edward and Bella share a look.

"Anyways." Edward says. "Kensi Lahote is a terrifying name. For only being 19 years old, there isn't a single vampire that isn't afraid of her. Those that don't know about her, learn of her quickly."

"Why is she so notorious?" Jake asks. I look across the table at my boyfriend and smirk.

"Have you ever seen her kill a vampire before? The fact that she could light them on fire with the snap of her fingers is frightening." Bella explains. "But then she actually fights, not to play with them, but to give them a fighting chance, that's honorable. But it's terrifying because they know they're going to die."

I clear my throat. "Kensi and I don't pick fights we know we can't walk away from. And when we do, it's by accident."

"But you walk away from it right?" Jake asks with worry in his voice.

I scoff bouncing Mackenzie on my knees. "Of course we don't. We're Kensi and Dani. The Lahote Sisters. We don't walk away from a fight. Have you ever seen Paul back down from a fight?"

"No." Quil teases from the living room. He's playing Monopoly with Claire I'm pretty certain.

"I rest my case." Edward says. He looks at Jacob. "You're worried about your imprints fighting with you, don't. You should be more concerned about keeping up with their wake of destruction."

Jacob nods. "I have… accepted this. Partially. Embry's the one you ought to convince."

Bella sighs sympathetically.

"He imprinted on Kensi." I clarify. "Fairly certain he heard her explode and go on a rant about how stupid love is, and how weak it makes people."

The grimace on Jacob's face, and on Edward's face seconds later tells me that they both know.

"Oh I'm sure Embry is loving this." Edward sighs.

"Absolutely not." Jacob says. "I ordered him to go home to his mom and get some rest for a few nights, no matter where Kensi is going. Kensi is a big girl and can take care of herself. Clearly."

"Probably best." I mutter. "We don't need another Kensi Special."

Jacob shakes his head and is about to comment when a howl of pain and agony rips through the air.A warning howl.

Leaving it here! See you tomorrow!
