One week later.
''Hey darkside.''
Brittany looks up hearing the familiar voice and snickers as Holly walks over to their table during lunch. ''Sup Ms H.''
''I expect you all in my class today.'' Holly tells them while locking eyes with Santana and Brittany. ''All of you.'' She repeats.
Brittany just smiles wryly and shrugs. ''We will be there Ms H, don't worry.'' She tells her her friends noticing the sad undertone.
''Good, see you after lunch.''
Santana places her hand on Brittany's thigh underneath the table as Holly walks off and squeezes the jumping muscle softly.
''Still no chance B?'' Sam asks sadly, Brittany shakes her head and sighs sadly.
''Bitch is still gone, Maze wasn't at school the whole fucking week.'' She stands up as she sees that lunch is almost over and grabs her bag. ''Come on let's show up a bit earlier this time.''
Santana stands up too grabbing her own bag and grabs their trash softly telling Brittany that she will throw it away, she glances at Mercedes and Quinn as they join them and smiles sadly as they both squeeze her shoulder.
''You okay S?'' Quinn asks softly, Santana just shrugs her shoulders walking over to the rest of their group with them after she threw everything away and sighs.
''It sucks not knowing how Maze is doing.'' She tells them softly. ''Let's drop it, don't want B to be down again.'' She murmurs as they reach the group, she smiles as Brittany wraps her arm around her and Quinn's shoulder knowing Puck has his arm wrapped around Tina and allows her to lead them towards Holly's classroom.
She glances at their friends smiling as she sees them all walking near each other and glances around at the other students noticing the jocks and cheerleaders keeping their distance after what happened at the party, she just turns back to their friends knowing they agreed to stay together during school in case something happens and sighs softly leaning into Brittany's side.
''You okay?'' Brittany asks softly turning her head to look down at her, Santana nods her head and smiles slightly.
''Yeah just glad nobody tried something this week.''
''Yeah me too, but I don't like the calmed around the hallways it keeps me on my toes because it could be another trap.'' Brittany murmurs keeping her other arm wrapped around Quinn's shoulders as they walk into the classroom.
''Britty!''
She stops in her tracks as she hears Mason yelling her name and looks around, she stumbles back with a soft gasp as his small body suddenly collides with hers and looks down at him. ''Maze.'' She chokes out hearing her friends all yell his name in surprise.
She drops down on her knees and pulls him in her arms. ''Sweetheart.'' She whispers nuzzling her nose in his blonde spiky hair. ''God I missed you.''
''Mami?'' Santana asks surprised as she sees her mother and Holly both leaning against the desk grinning at the sibling reunion, Maribel smiles opening her arms as she watches the group step aside to give both blondes a moment alone and pulls her daughter in a hug.
''Hola mija.'' She murmurs kissing her cheek.
''How..''
Maribel shushes her daughter and smiles lovingly watching Brittany slowly stand up with Mason in her arms. ''I told you I was almost there, I just had to work by the rules.''
''I missed you Britty.'' Mason whispers keeping his arms tightly wrapped around his sisters shoulders, he turns his head to look at the group and smiles brightly. ''Puck!''
Brittany laughs nodding her head as Puck just looks at her and stumbles back as he immediately rushes over to them, she places Mason in his arms smiling as she hears her little brother squeak the second the rest of the group rushes over and turns to Maribel. ''Maribel.'' She whispers softly walking over to her.
Maribel just shakes her head and pulls her into a strong hug. ''We have a few things to talk about, do you have time now?''
''I have..''
''Nope you don't have class sweetcheeks, look around.'' Holly cuts in chuckling, she watches Brittany pull out of Maribel's hug in confusion to walk around and gently places her hand on her shoulder. ''Only the group is here, all of you had a free period but Maribel and I planned this together.''
''The both of you.'' Brittany mentions her hand between both adults and raises an eyebrow. ''Know each other?''
''Sit down honey.'' Maribel tells her softly, she looks at the group shooting her daughter a wink and smiles. ''All of you, I am sure Brittany will love having you all around to hear this.'' She watches them all walk over to their respectable tables in confusion and smiles as Mason walks over to Brittany and smiles lovingly as she easily picks him up so he can cuddle with her and Santana, she walks over to them and sits down on the table in front of the group. ''Let us explain everything first, right after we will answer all questions alright?''
She places her hands in her lap as they just nod their heads and locks eyes with Brittany. ''First of all I am sorry that it took longer as planned but my boss needed a few confirmations before allowing me to set this plan in to motion.'' She bites her lip as she just shoots her a small smile and sighs. ''Second you are excused for school coming Thursday, you might need to go shopping but you will have a court hearing that day.''
''A court..''
''Yes a court hearing B, hear me out okay?'' She asks as the blonde tries to interrupt her, she smiles as she nods her head and glances at Holly. ''The night you came over telling me what happened, I called Holly right after Santana took you to the hospital because she approached me a few weeks prior asking me for advice about one of her students who clearly struggled.''
She turns back to the teens as Holly just smiles sheepishly and locks eyes with Brittany as she sees her eyebrows raised in surprise. ''She didn't tell me any names but after you told me what happened I asked her if she meant you and she did, after that we worked together to make sure that you and also Mason were save even accepting the fact that you and my daughter skipped Holly's class to meet up with Mason.''
She laughs as she sees both girls eyes widen and winks. ''I am not mad and it didn't mess with our plans so no worries just never skip again from now on.'' She turns to Holly and smiles slightly. ''You want to continue?''
Holly nods her head pushing herself off of the desk and walks over to Maribel to lean against the table right beside her to lock eyes with Brittany. ''I noticed something was going on in your life from the very first time we met sweetcheeks but you were so closed off and every time I tried to pry just a little bit you would pull back even more so I decided to let it go, after hearing we got a new social care worker in the city I decided to bite the bullet and ask for help because I noticed that you kept losing weight and I think without your friends strong support you would have collapsed before any help would fall in your lap.''
She glances at Santana and smiles slightly. ''After Santana enrolled you cheered up a lot and I noticed she had a good influence on you so I just started to pair the both of you up hoping it would ease your private life.'' She glances at Maribel and sighs sadly. ''After Maribel contacted me and told me what was really going on, we both started to brainstorm and think of all options available, options that wouldn't send you spiraling down a very dark path.''
''We both thought of one option and we want your permission for that one, but before we tell you we or well I do have one question.'' Maribel mutters while looking at the blonde teen.
''Shoot.'' Brittany murmurs.
''Do you trust Holly?'' Maribel asks, Brittany just tilts her head glancing at the blonde adult in question and slowly nods her head.
''I do.'' She replies without a second thought. ''Ms Holiday is the only one in this building who always showed her support and tried to help out whenever I did ask for help for some things even if it only meant having problems with other teachers or students.''
Maribel nods her head and nudges Holly silently telling her to tell the blonde about their idea, Holly slowly nods her head taking a nervous breath and pushes herself off of the table to walk over to Brittany.
She crouches down beside her smiling as she sees the little boy sleeping against her chest and locks eyes on trusting blue orbs. ''Brittany, do you trust me enough to tell the judge next Thursday that I can take Mason in and be his foster?'' She smiles slightly as she sees her jaw drop and gently squeezes her leg making sure not to jostle the little boy contently cuddled into her arms. ''I would not only sign his foster papers though, you might be almost eighteen but I would also love to sign yours so you also will be covered and can still go to school the second your mother's name drops out of your files.''
''Holly..'' Brittany whispers shocked hearing their friends have hushed conversations in shock, Holly keeps their eyes locked and smiles slightly.
''Before you ask, yes I am one hundred percent sure and I want to do this to make sure one of my favorite students has the chance to finally enjoy her life.'' She glances at the little boy in her lap and smiles. ''I had the chance to talk a bit with Mason and he only spoke about you and all the fun things you did, realizing you did all that while also still being a straight A student made me respect you so much more Brittany.''
''You took over the mother role even though you are still a child yourself, you never hesitated but also made sure you didn't lack your own grades.'' Holly continues. ''I can see the love you have for him and heard it more than once during a project, I can also see how much he loves you and how much you were hurt the past week and a half.'' She tells her with a sad smile. ''I will never try to separate the both of you but I hope you will allow me to take some tasks over, to make it much easier for you and to just be there for the both of you.''
Brittany just looks at her with tears in her eyes and sniffles as she sees nothing but kindness in her blue orbs. ''I.'' She cuts herself off as her voice cracks and glances down at her brother tears sliding down her cheeks as she realizes that Holly is making sure she will continue having him in her life while she can also relax a bit more. ''I don't know what to say Holly.'' She whispers softly.
''The choice is entirely yours sweetcheeks.'' Holly tells her with a gentle smile.
Brittany gulps keeping her eyes on her brother and slowly nods her head. ''Yes, yes of course I will speak up in your favor.'' She tells her softly, she turns her head to look at her and sniffles. ''I don't think you know just how much you just helped me.''
''Oh sweetheart I would do anything to see you brighten up.'' Holly tells her with a small sad smile. ''Had I known what was going on from the beginning, I would have immediately tried to help but I can understand why you were so held back knowing other adults around you didn't exactly give you the feeling that you can easily trust everyone.''
Brittany just sniffles and slowly turns to Santana gently placing Mason in her lap making sure he won't wake up, she turns back to Holly as she notices Mason just easily adjust in his sleep and slides down her chair to hug her tightly. ''Thank you.'' She breaths out through a sob.
Holly just wraps her up in a tight hug and slowly shakes her head. ''No thank you needed sweetcheeks.'' She whispers gently as she runs her hand up her back. ''I have enough room for the both of you and will love having you around, it won't happen until Thursday but till then Mason will be staying with you and Maribel she made sure her boss agreed on that.''
''Yeah the house might be a bit full the next few days but I cleared out my office so Mason can sleep there while you can still sleep in Santana's room.'' Maribel tells the blonde as she walks over to them.
Brittany just sniffles standing up and tackles her in a hug, Maribel smiles immediately hugging her tightly and kisses her temple. ''I told you that I will find a solution Brittany, I think this one is the best for the both of you.''
''I don't even.'' Brittany pauses once again as her voice cracks and glances at her brother sniffling. ''I don't know how to thank the both of you.''
''It's time to live your life and be happy.'' Holly tells her softly, Maribel nods her head in agreement and pulls back so she can lock eyes with Brittany.
''It's time you think of yourself too, Holly will be foster mother to you and Mason so you can relax honey. You can finally think of yourself too and you don't have to worry anymore, he will be safe with you and with Holly and you will also be taken care of.'' She cups her cheeks and pulls her down so she can kiss her forehead. ''We both know you are apprehensive when it comes to adults but your butt is stuck with us and we won't let you down.''
Holly nods her head in agreement and glances at the friends still seated in front of her, she shoots them a wink and pats Brittany's back as she walks back to her table taking Mason back on her lap. She chuckles as Maribel stumbles back the second Santana tackles her in a hug and runs her hand through her hair. ''All of this means that we will all have more to do with each other privately too, but don't think you will receive special treatment in class though.''
''We would never.'' Puck mutters laughing. ''But thank you Ms H.'' He nods his head to his best friend and runs his hand over his Mohawk. ''I think I speak for all of us when I tell you that you are the best, we can finally relax knowing our best friend has the chance to enjoy her life to the fullest from now on so yeah thank you.''
Holly just smiles accepting their hugs and turns to Brittany sitting on the table in front of her. ''I do have a few rules but we will go over them after the hearing alright? But for now you all can go home and let everything set in.''
''That's alright.'' Brittany murmurs as she slowly stands up with Mason still asleep in her arms, she turns to Holly and bites her lip. ''I do have one more question.''
''What is it?'' Holly asks softly.
''What happened to her?''
''I can answer that.'' Maribel mutters as she slides up beside Brittany with her daughter still cuddled against her side, she smiles as she watches her daughter immediately walk over to her friends to hug them and locks eyes with Brittany. ''After Maze didn't appear at school three days in a row they called me to ask for a check up and well after finding out he was all alone with only the neighbor you asked to keep an eye out taking care of him, I called the cops and told them to search her.'' She explains.
''This morning I received a call that they found her in Texas, she was high and drunk at the time they arrested her and well I don't want to indulge on her activities but long story short.'' She glances at the little boy in Brittany's arms and sighs. ''Mason is right where he belongs and she will rot in jail right after she attended to the hearing too, the police and social care need you to tell what happened in the past so I hope you know that, that day won't be easy.''
Brittany slowly nods her head and pulls her little brother just closer, she nuzzles her nose in his blonde hair and breaths in his scent. ''I don't care, I will do everything to make sure he won't have to see her again.''
''He won't, he will be with you and with Holly.'' Maribel reassures with a small smile, she turns to her daughter and smiles slightly. ''Mija you will be excused from school Thursday too, will you keep an eye on Mason while Holly and I go to the hearing with B?''
Santana immediately nods her head as Brittany also looks at her and smiles. ''I will mami.''
