Special Containment procedures

Being assigned to site 19 is quite the experience.

On one hand, it was one of the most important and critical containment sites the entire foundation had ever built. There was such a high level of importance to this site that just having a position there in your resume could bolster your career within the foundation to the stratosphere. It was like a reward for the countless hours a researcher had put into the foundation. So many of the most renowned Senior researchers of the foundation had started as junior researchers in site 19. Including some of the most famous ones like Dr. Bright and Dr. Clef.

On the other hand… it's site 19.

The mere act of surviving this place felt like a superhuman feat on its own.

The sheer volume of anomalies in this place was so horrific it was almost funny. There had only been a few containment breach incidents in this site since it was first built, but each one ended with literally hundreds of corpses everywhere, sometimes even thousands. The place was so dangerous that it is rumored to be the home base of the most famous and brutal Mobile Task Force in the entire foundation: MTF Tau-5 "Samsara". Who is supposedly the reason why previous containment breaches never seemed to result in the foundation detonating the on-site nuclear warheads.

And it's not just how many anomalies there were in site 19, it was which anomalies they were. 173 "the statue", 049 "the plague doctor", 682 "the hard to destroy reptile", 106 "the old man", and so on and so on. Even some of the tamer ones were an absolute nightmare to deal with, such as 096 "the shy guy". If even just one of these murderous nightmares breached containment, death to anyone nearby was pretty much guaranteed.

In all honesty, being assigned here felt like some sort of punishment.

Dr. Anna Freidericksen was a well renowned child psychologist and senior researcher who had worked with the foundation for decades, and was in charge of the study and monitoring of various SCPs with child-like intelligence, which of course, included actual children with anomalous capabilities.

This time, she was assigned by the Overseer council to site 19 for "A high security and highly classified operation". I was odd for the O5 council to assign someone to a case directly, even more so for them to forego minor debriefing on what exactly she was supposed to do there. But seeing as it's site 19 we are talking about, "ordinary procedure" was out of the window by default.

She was driven through the front gate of the facility and lead towards the main entrance. The building looked like any other facility from the outside, but just knowing what was in here was enough to make her feel nervous.

As she moved through the hallways towards the debriefing room, she made a mental note of the extremely heavy armament the security staff had on them. Certainly much heavier than any other site had. She also noted some D-classes on janitorial duty, and even though they were on the main hall, away from any containment units, she could see the broken people behind all of those eyes. Who knows what horrors they have experienced.

She finally reached the debriefing room, where she was shocked to meet the site director in person: Dr. Jack Bright. At first, she couldn't tell who this person was, until she noticed the massive necklace they wore.

"Good evening Dr. Bright. It's an honor to meet you in person. I must say, I didn't expect to be debriefed by the site director themselves. I knew this was a high class operation, but I didn't imagine it was THIS high class."

"OH YEAH! It's like, a huuuuuge deal! Those overseer dudes have the biggest stick up their asses over this whole thing!"

She had heard of Dr. Bright's … unorthodox personality, but hearing this kind of language from a site director was shocking nonetheless.

"In any case, thank you for coming Dr. Friedericksen. The file of the subject is right there on the table. Everything you need to know is in there, and you job is to simply monitor and manage their mental health. I have to go, the Laker's game is on and I bet Clef they would lose, so I have to get going, BYEEEE!"

And just like that he left.

That's Bright, she supposed.

Just before she could look at the file, Bright returned in a rush.

"OH, and by the way. You can't conduct any experiments just like that, you need the approval of an O5 for that. Gotta go!"

She turned around and sat down. She started reading the file on the table:

SCP-6124

"The Scarlet Princess"

OBJECT CLASS: KETER

Item #: SCP-6124

Object class: Keter

Special containment procedures: SCP-6124 is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment unit measuring 50 x 50 x 50 meters. The unit must include all necessary implements for comfortable living, including a bed, table and chairs, dresser with mirror, and a night stand with lamp included. Any requests for additional implements are to be reviewed by the O5 council before approval. She must be given the required 3 meals per day, which must be reviewed and approved by the on-site nutritionist to ensure proper nutrition and growth. She must also receive education appropriate for her age from an authorized tutor.

Due to the known properties of her anomaly, no site personnel is to enter the containment unit under any circumstances, and the subject is not allowed to ever exit her containment unit. Only D-classes are allowed to enter the containment unit for the purposes of study and experimentation. Due to concerns regarding the dangers of her anomaly, all experiments have been suspended at the moment, and any future experiments are to be presented first to the O5 council for approval. Any and all communications with the subject are to be performed via remote means, such as video chatting and phone calls. The subject's mother, who has been given E class status and remains in the on-site living quarters (employment application pending review by the O5 council), is allowed to communicate with her directly via a separating glass with a direct phone line. However, she and site director Dr. Jack Bright are the only people given such privileges. Any other foundation personnel who are found in the specialized chamber reserved for the subject's mother and Dr. Bright will be heavily reprimanded, and in repeating cases, they will be relocated to another facility.

Meals and other non-living implements are to be delivered via drone, in order to avoid contact with any living matter that might serve as host to 6124-1.

Scranton reality anchors are to be placed inside and outside the containment unit and are to remain active at all times. Following an experiment conducted by Dr. Bright, in which 6124-1 manifested regardless of the activity of the Scranton reality anchors present at the time, the O5 council has decided to retrieve said anchors for use on other projects and/or containment units, seeing as they seem to serve no use in this case whatsoever.

Addendum: Following review by the O5 council, the subject's request for volumes of the popular fantasy novel series "The Good Witch Azura" for personal entertainment was approved. All available volumes of the novel series are to be purchased by the foundation and delivered to the subject via drone. And any new volumes that are released in the future are to be purchased and delivered as well, unless the subject herself decides she no longer wishes to read the books. Of this matter, Dr. Bright had this to say: "The kid has taste, I like it!".

Anna was baffled. By the words in this containment procedures, it appeared that SCP-6124 was but a young girl. However, some things were a bit confusing. It appears that her anomalous properties are:

Manifested upon proximity or contact with living matter

Possessing reality manipulation properties that not even Scranton reality anchors are able to prevent.

But was the Keter classification really worth it? Seeing as the foundation is quite lax with adding implements requested by the little girl, it doesn't seem like she is particularly aggressive or uncooperative. In fact, these procedures seemed to fit more the likes of a Euclid class anomaly, not a Keter one.

She was going to read the description for some answers, however:

Description:

[REDACTED] LEVEL 4 OR HIGHER SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED TO ACCESS THIS SEGMENT OF THE REPORT.

Well, that was odd. She had no choice but to accept that, despite having to work with this subject, she would have to figure out a way to do so without knowing what she was dealing with exactly.

Before leaving and heading towards the containment unit to begin working, Dr. Anna Friedericksen read a small note left at the end of the report:

[Following the events of Incident 6124-A, the subject is to be placed under constant observation by the foundation for the purposes of analysis and in order to avoid another incident. This may be one of the most important breakthroughs the foundation has ever had since its conception. A containment breach is beyond unacceptable. Anyone who is found to be negligent in their duties containing SCP-6124 faces threat of immediate termination. Allow me to reiterate: SCP-6124 may be but a young girl, and you are not wrong in thinking that she does not deserve this kind of treatment, but until it is proved unnecessary, she is to be contained under the maximum security possible. The implications and risks involved with her anomaly are simply too great to ignore. You must remember that we do what we must, no matter what. {O5-4}]

There was a particular phrase in that note that made her think that perhaps, she was punching way above her weight in this case. Whatever was going on with this little girl, it was way bigger than she was prepared to deal with.

This may be one of the most important breakthroughs the foundation has ever had since its conception.
