Chapter 7: The Creator Arrives

"Attention, ladies and gentleman, this is your captain speaking. We will be landing in Paradise City shortly. Please make sure your table trays are in their upright position, and your seatbelts fashioned. Thank you for flying White Dragon Airlines."

Pegasus finished his glass of wine, watching as the plane descended into Paradise International. The one building that stood out in his eye was the LDS tower.

"Hmm, in a little bit. I think its time I paid Yuya boy a visit."

On landing, he made his way to the car rental place.

"Wait a minute, aren't you..."

"Yes, I am. Tell me, how do I get to You Show Duel School from here?"

"Oh, um, take a right on Springdale, a left on Main, and then its a straight drive down Maiami. Enjoy your stay!"

"Oh, trust me. I will."

After a few minutes of walking, Yuya and Zuzu arrived at the duel school. However, when they got in, they were surprised to find...

"Maximillion Pegasus?"

"Ah, Yuya boy, Zuzu dear! How wonderful to see you again."

Skip came in, still a little surprised to see the creator of duel monsters in his humble duel school.

"Well, I'm in town for business, but I had some time to kill before my meeting, so I figured why not drop in on Yuya? After all, I need to check in on how the first Pendulum user is handling his new monsters."

"Pretty good. It took me a while, but I think I got the hang of it."

"Excellent! In that case, how about a duel then?"

Yuya gasped in shock.

"Me? You want to duel me?"

"There aren't any other Yuya Sakaki's here, are there? I'll even let you have the first turn."

Yuya's shock turned into a proud smirk.

"Alright Pegasus, you're on!"

A few minutes later, both duelists were standing in the duel arena.

"Alright Skip, light it up!"

"You got it, Yuya! I activate the field spell Showtime Street!"

The field transformed into a brightly lit street, signs and advertisements flashing all around.

"Ooh, your father's favorite! How appropriate."

"Enough talk, let's get started! Duelists locked in battle..."

"Kicking the Earth and Dancing in the air alongside their monsters, they storm through this field!"

"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of dueling! Action..."

DUEL!

Yuya: 4000

Pegasus: 4000

I don't know what his deck is, but given that he created the entire game, I bet he has some crazy powerful monsters. I better play it safe."

"I summon Performapal Skeeter Skimmer (500/1600) in attack mode. Next, I set one card face down and end my turn."

"Playing it safe, hmm? Well then, I guess its my job to lighten things up. First, I activate the spell card Soul Absorption. Now every time a card gets banished, I gain 500 life points. Next, I activate the spell card Toon Bookmark, letting me add a Toon World or card that lists it in my name to my hand."

"Toon World? I've never heard of that card before."

"You'll never forget it either, Yuya boy. I add the field spell Toon Kingdom to my hand. Now Yuya, get ready to enter a world beyond imagination. I activate Toon Kingdom!"

A large pop up book emerged, its pages flipping until it came to a page containing a large castle with lit torches dotting its walls.

"Here my wonderful toons can roam to their hearts content. And all it costs is banishing three cards from the top of my deck face down, not that it'll stop me (4000-5500). Next, I summon Toon Masked Sorcerer (900/1400). But as cute as he is, I have a monster even cuter: Behold, Toon Dark Magician Girl (2000/1700)!"

From the book popped out a chibi version of the world's most famous apprentice, giggling as she twirled her staff like a baton. When the younger students saw this, they all flipped out. Or at least, Ally and Frederick did.

"Aw, she's so cute!"

"I could just hug her until she pops!"

"You guys realize she's just a card, right?"

Said card blew him a kiss, making him blush much to his friends' amusement.

"And I know you think Skeeter Skimmer will save you, but I'm afraid your mistaken. As long as you don't have any toon monsters on your field, my toons can attack you directly!"

"What?!"

The toon girl giggled before shooting a magic fireball at Yuya, who was equally prepared.

"Not bad, Pegasus, but not good enough! I activate the trap card, Performapal Call! Not only is your direct attack canceled, but I get to add up to two Performapals whos total defense is less than your Magician Girl's, and I choose Performapal Odd Eyes Unicorn and Performapal King Bear!"

"Ooh, well played! In that case, I set one card face down and end my turn."

"Sorry Pegasus, I'm taking control of this duel starting now! With the scale 3 Performapal Partnaga and the Scale 8 Performapal Odd Eyes Unicorn, I set the Pendulum Scale! Now I Pendulum Summon Performapal King Bear and Performapal Kaleidoscorp!"

"Impressive play, Yuya, but not impressive enough! I activate my trap card Toon Mask! Since Toon Kingdom is treated as Toon World by its own effect, I can target your Odd Eyes and summon a Toon monster with an equal or lower level, so come on out Toon Dark Magician (2500/2100)!"

A chibi version of his previous monster's teacher appeared, greeting his apprentice by crossing their staffs together.

"Aren't they adorable? The best things come in pairs, I always say."

"They're cute, but this duel isn't over yet! I activate the Pendulum effect of Performapal Partnaga, giving King Bear 300 attack for each Performapal card I control, and I count 5 (2200-3700). Next, Kaleidoscope's effect allows Performapal King Bear to attack all special summoned monsters you control once each. Performapal King Bear, attack his Toon Dark Magician Girl! And don't forget, when he attacks he gains 100 attack points for every Performapal card I have (3700-4200)!"

The royal bear swiped at the toon sorcerer, only for her to bend out of the way as his paw struck Pegasus instead.

Pegasus: 5500-6000-3800

"What? But your monster should've been destroyed!"

"Yes, and she would've if it weren't for Toon Kingdom. By banishing the top card from my deck, my Toon's can't be destroyed by battle or card effects. So sorry."

"Your toons may survive, but your life points won't! Performapal King Bear, attack his Dark Magician!"

"Once more, I'll banish a card from my deck so my toon can remain in the mortal realm (3800-4300)."

Once more the toon bended out of the way, their creator taking the blow for them.

Pegasus: 2500

"I end my turn there, and King bear's attack returns to normal (4200-2200)."

"You fought well, Yuya, but this duel is over! I discard Toon Alligator to activate Toon Dark Magician's effect, letting me summon Toon Summoned Skull right from my deck (2500/1200)!"

From the confines of the book, a large, blue skinned demon emerged, stretching his mouth out with his fingers and wagging his tongue at Yuya. But unlike the magician's, this demon seemed completely confined to the book from which he came.

"Sadly, he can't attack the turn he's summoned, but that won't matter! Toon Dark Magician Girl, Toon Dark Magician, attack Yuya directly and end this duel!"

Out of the corner of his eye, Yuya caught an action card. Leaping up, he swung on a hanging lamp post until he had built up enough momentum, launching himself upward and allowing him to grab it.

"I activate the action spell Evasion, negating your Toon Dark Magician's attack!"

Yuya managed to dodge on magic blast, but the one from Dark Magician Girl caught him off guard, sending him to the pavement.

Yuya: 2000

Pegasus smirked as Yuya picked himself up.

"An expert at using Action Cards, just like your father. I activate the spell card Cards of Sanctity, letting us refill our hands. I set two cards face down and end my turn."

"Alright Pegaus, I'm turning up the heat! with my current Pendulum Scale, I summon Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Performapal Bubblebowwow (2300/1000)! Now, attack his Dark Magician Girl! Odd Eyes Unicorn's effect activates, giving Odd Eyes attack points equal to Bubblbebowwow's (2500-4800)!"

"Oh no!"

"It gets worse, because when Odd Eyes attacks a monster he inflicts double the damage! Let him have it!"

As Odd Eyes's attack got closer, Pegasus moved to activate his set card...

Only to remove his hand at the last minute, grinning with satisfaction as Yuya's attack hit.

"Like father, like son..."

Pegasus: 0000

Yuya wins!

Pegasus laughed as he picked himself up, shaking Yuya's hand with mirth.

"Well done, Yuya boy! I knew I picked the right person to wield a new summoning method."

"Thanks, Mr. Pegasus."

"Yuya!"

Skip was quick to pounce on Yuya, noogying his head affectionatley.

"I just knew you could do it! Just think, a student from our school managing to defeat the creator of Duel Monsters himself! This will put our school on the map! Um, no offense, of course, Mr. Pegasus, sir."

Pegasus chuckled before Croquet interrupted them.

"My apologies, gentleman, but I'm afraid we must be going. Mr. Pegasus has a meeting to attend."

"Ah well, that's life. Farewell, gentleman. I'll try to stop by again before I go home."

"Bye! Thanks for the duel!"

Pegasus waved goodbye and entered the rental car. But as they pulled away, his mind was reeling with emotions. Fear, anger, sadness, but most of all guilt.

You're a great duelist, Yuya boy, and I have no doubt you'll make a great asset. I only hope you manage to survive, and I'm not just talking about physically.
