Chapter 10: You Show's Last Stand Part 2

Declan quirked an eyebrow at Yuya's declaration.

"Really now? Well then, its your move. Why not show me?"

"You asked for it! But first, I set Mirage Dragon in the Pendulum Scale, letting me now summon monsters between the levels 3 and 7 all at the same time! Come on out, Performapal Kaleidoscorp, Performapal Partnaga (500/2100), and from the Extra Deck, Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker!"

"Not bad Yuya, but it'll take more than that to defeat me."

"How about this, then? When Partnaga is normal or special summoned, I can give one monster I control 300 attack points for every Performapal monster I control, and I have 4, so Odd Eyes gains 1200 attack points (2500-3700)! Next, I activate Kaleidoscorp's effect to let Odd Eyes attack every special summoned monster you control! Odd Eyes, Finish off his three kings! And don't forget, when Odd Eyes attacks a monster, he inflicts double the damage!"

"I activate my face down, Dark Contract with the Gate! This gives my monster 1000 attack points during your turn (2000-3000) (2400-3400 (2500-3500)!"

Despite the power boost, his monsters stood no chance, being easily disintegrated by Odd Eyes's Spiral Flame Strike, nearly knocking Declan off of his feet.

Declan: 5600-4200-3600-3200

"When Wave King Caesar is destroyed, I can add a Dark Contract from my deck to my hand. I choose to add another Dark Contract with the Gate."

"Now Elephammer, attack him directly!"

Yuya's star circus performer slammed his trunk into the ground, sending Declan to the ground.

Declan: 600

"You fought well, Yuya, but this duel is over. I activate my face down, Final Attack Orders! As long as this card is in play, all face up monsters are forced into attack position!"

Yuya gasped in horror as his only remaining defense was forced into attack mode. Scanning the field, he didn't see any action cards in sight.

"No...this can't be..."

"Doom King Armageddon, attack his..."

Sir, there's been a situation.

Declan stopped mid declaration, turning his attention to the call from Claude.

"Due to Partnaga's effect, anything below level 6 can't attack, so I'll end my turn there. Your move, Declan."

Declan dusted himself off before studying Yuya curiously.

"You've done well, Yuya Sakaki. But why didn't you activate your Drummerilla's effect? Had you done so, you would've won the duel."

"I'm aware of that. But somethings been bugging me about this whole thing. One day, you're offering me and Zuzu protection, the next you want to kick us out of our school? Its not even like our school is a threat to yours, and you've never shown an interest in us before. So why now?"

Declan smirked, impressed by his deduction skills.

"How observative of you. Perhaps if you win I'll share my secrets, but thats a very big if. To start my turn, I play Cards of Sanctity, letting us both draw until we have six cards in our hands. Next, I activate my face down trap cards, D/D/D Human Resources and D/D/D Contract Change! First, Human Resources lets me shuffle my three Kings back into my Extra deck, then allows me to add two D/D monsters from my deck to my hand. I choose D/D/ Savant Newton and D/D/D Doom King Armageddon. Next, Contract Change lets me add a level 4 or lower D/D pendulum monster to my hand, and I choose D/D Savant Newton."

"Wait...Pendulum?"

"Next, I activate Dark Contract with the Witch, letting me add another D/D/D Doom King Armageddon to my hand. Now, with the Scale 1 D/D Savant Kepler and my Scale 10 D/D Savant Newton, I can set the Pendulum Scale!"

Yuya gasped in horror as Declan's new monsters appeared in the Pendulum zone.

"No way...he can Pendulum summon too?"

"With the current scale, I can summon monsters between the levels of 2 and 9 at the same time! Come forth, my two D/D/D Doom King Armageddons (3000/1000) and D/D/D Rebel King Leonidas (2600/1200) in attack mode!"

Spotting an Action Card, Declan grabbed onto overhead trapeeze bars, swinging himself over to it and grabbing it.

"I'll begin my attacks by having Leonidas attack your Skullcrobat Joker!"

"Drummerilla gives him a 600 point boost!"

"Its still not enough"

The magician tried to use his staff as a shield, only to be cut right in half anyway.

Yuya: 3500

"Next, Doom King Armageddon attacks Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon! And to keep myself in the duel, I activate the action card Damage Banish, reducing all damage I take from this battle to zero."

The two monsters clashed their energy attacks, but soon the Doon King was overpowered, cracking before crumbling into dust.

"But what did that accomplish? All you did was destroy your own monster."

"And by doing so, the effect of my other Doom King's effect activates. When monster I control is destroyed by battle, Doom King gains its original attack points until the end of the turn (3000-6000). Now Doom King Armageddon, avenge your comrade and destroy his Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"

This time Odd Eyes wasn't so lucky, being obliterated, knocking Yuya off his feet from the massive backlash.

Yuya: 1200

"I'll set two cards face down and end my turn. Your move, Yuya."

"Alright Declan, no more messing around! I Pendulum Summon Odd Eyes :Pendulum Dragon! Attack his Rebel King Leonidas, and thanks to Drummerilla, he gains 600 attack points (2500-3100)! End this duel!"

"I activate the trap card, Sakeretsu Armor! Your Odd Eyes is destroyed!"

Yuya could only watch in horror as his monster went up in flames.

"I...I end my turn."

"You fought well Yuya, but this duel is over! I activate my face down, Final Attack Orders! Now all face up monsters must be in attack position."

Yuya gasped in horror as his only line of defense stood at attention. Scanning the field, he couldn't find an Action Card in sight.

"Doom King Armageddon, attack..."

Sir, there's been a situation.

Declan paused midway through his command to attend to the call from his assistant.

"What is it, Claude?"

Marco's been attacked, sir. We need you back immediately.

Sighing, Declan shut off his duel disk and walked away.

"I'm sorry, but it seems something has come up that needs my attention."

"Hey, what about our duel!"

"You may have the win, and as promised I'll leave you alone. May our paths cross again. Goodbye."

Yuya watched Declan walk away, his mind reeling as he tried to process what just happened.

"If he hadn't gotten that call, he would've won, and I would've lost my Pendulum cards. Am...Am I not good enough to have them?"
