Chapter 12: White Dragon's Descent
Seto Kaiba leaned back in his rental car as the chauffer drove down the empty Paradise City streets. Akaba's voice on the phone made it sound urgent, and for his sake it had better be. If there was one thing he hated, it was being interrupted during his work. Sometimes he wondered if this partnership with Leo Corp was worth it.
He was shaken from his thought when the car came to a stop. But instead of being outside the Leo Tower, he found himself in front of a dingy, dilapidated warehouse.
"Huh?"
"Alright punk, end of the line."
Seto turned to find his driver pointing a gun right in his face.
"In there. NOW."
Deciding not to press his luck, Seto complied, entering to find a large group of hooded figures.
"You must be these Rare Hunter thugs I've heard about. After my Blue Eyes?"
"Lucky guess. Get him, boys!"
Immediately, the robed figures leapt at him. Unfortunately for them, Seto was too fast, punching and kicking them down before they could reach him. Fed up, his captor raised his gun.
"Thats it! I'll blow a hole into your freaking head!"
He tried to pull a trigger, but found that it wouldn't fire. Looking up, Kaiba had wedged a card into the hammer. Using his distraction, Kaiba decked him across with his briefcase, sending the hunter flying.
"That's for making me waste a card on your useless ass."
"My my, aren't we stubborn?"
Before Kaiba could turn around, a duel anchor latched itself around his arm, trapping him in the warehouse. Despite his best efforts to free himself, he was stuck. With a hard yank, he was forced around to face his opponent, a man dressed in military gear.
"I know you. You're Kirk Dixon, the military commander. I see you finally got the boot. What're you doing running around with this garbage?"
"I was dishonorably discharged, thank you very much. Besides, they couldn't handle my genius. I'm just in this for the cash their leader is paying me. I could care less for the rabble I have to deal with, but the bounty for your Blue Eyes will make it more than worth my while."
"Oh? Well then, you better hope you're a damn good duelist."
"Oh, I am."
DUEL!
Seto Kaiba: 4000
Kirk Dixon: 4000
"Since I'm the one being held against my will, I'll take the first turn. And to start, I activate the spell card Dragon Shrine! This card lets me send a Dragon from my deck to the graveyard, and I choose my Blue Eyes White Dragon! And since the monster I sent is a normal monster, I can send another card from my deck to the graveyard too, so I'll send another Blue Eyes to join the first. Next, I summon Maiden with Eyes of Blue (0/0) in attack mode! I'll set two cards face down and end my turn."
"That's the best the famed Seto Kaiba can do? Pathetic! I'll start by activating my spell card Machina Armored Unit. Next, I summon Machina Soldier (1600/1500) in attack mode! And since I normal summoned him with no other monsters on my field, I can special summon Machina Sniper from my hand (1800/800) in attack mode! Now Soldier, attack his Maiden!"
The mechanical soldier charged, swinging his sword ready to cut her to pieces...
Only to stop in its tracks as the maiden kneeled, chanting an ancient speech as her body glowed a white aura. From her body the aura expanded, transforming into the very dragon Kaiba called his ace.
"The Blue Eyes White Dragon? But how?!"
"Simple. When Maiden is chosen as an attack target, the attack is negated and I can summon a Blue Eyes White Dragon from my hand, deck, or graveyard. So thanks for the free summon."
"You're not in the clear yet! Your Maiden can only use her effect once per turn, so attack her Machina Sniper!"
"I activate my trap card Shift! Now your attack switches to my Blue Eyes. Counterattack with White Lightning!"
Kirk snarled in anger as his soldier was evaporated by the energy beam.
Kirk Dixon: 2800
"Machina Armored Unit's effect activates! Once per turn, when a machine I control is destroyed by battle, I can summon a machine with the same attribute but less attack from my deck, and I choose Machina Defender (1200/1800). I end my turn there."
"Is that the best you've got? I activate my face down, Birthright! I can choose one normal monster in my graveyard and special summon it, like my another Blue Eyes White Dragon! Next, I activate the spell card Stop Defense, switching your Defender into attack mode. Now my Blue Eyes, finish him off!"
"I activate my face down, Gift of the Mystical Elf! Since there are 5 monsters on the field, I gain 1500 life points (2800-4300), so I'm still in this duel!"
Kirk shielded himself from the blast, barely clinging onto the duel as his monsters were reduced to nothing but rubble.
Kirk Dixon: 1100
"Thanks to my Armored Unit, I summon another Defender off of Soldier's destruction."
"I'm not done yet. I tune my Blue Eyes with my Maiden with Eyes of Blue to Synchro Summon Blue Eyes Spirit Dragon (2500/3000) in attack mode! My turn is over."
Kirk snarled as he drew his card, not happy with how the duel had been playing out. But when he saw what his next card was, he grinned manically.
"I activate the spell card Junk Dealer, letting me summon two Machine monsters from my graveyard with their attack cut in half. Come back, Machina Soldier and Machina Sniper!"
But despite his bold declaration, his monsters stayed in the graveyard, much to his confusion.
"Confused? As long as Spirit Dragon is in play, neither of us can summon more than one monsters at a time. Did you really think I didn't know what you were planning?"
"Well, I'm not done yet! I discard Machina Force in order to summon Machina Fortress (2500/1600) in defense mode! Next, I set one monster face down and end my turn."
"Playtime's over, Dixon. I activate Burst Stream of Destruction! While I control a Blue Eyes White Dragon, all of your monsters are destroyed, but my White Dragon can't attack this turn."
Kirk watched in horror as his field blew up, leaving him defenseless.
"No! This can't be!"
"Blue Eyes Spirit Dragon, attack him directly and end this duel!"
Kirk could only cower in fear as the synchro monster swooped down and blasted him with a beautiful display of power, sending him flying into a wall as his life points hit zero.
Kirk Dixon: 0000
Kaiba wins!
The CEO of Kaibacorp humphed as he picked up his briefcase and exited the building. On his way out, he turned back to his opponent, who was struggling to pull himself to his feet.
"You're a third rate duelist with a fourth rate deck."
