Hey everyone. This is the first chapter of Dragon Ball ZMX reboot. I hope you all enjoy it. I feel like it just needs to happen. Plus there have been several new what ifs i would like to use. So this really helps that in the end. Also, I will still have some TFS references sneaked in.
Also im changing a bit of the "Bardock convinces the Saiyans" what if to fit more with the new version in super Broly. Though I won't purley use that one. More a combo. It's the Broly Bardock with the psychic powers.
Well now that that's out of the way, let's start. So enjoy.
Deep in space, on the planet Vegeta, every Saiyan had been called back to their home world by order of the galactic tyrant, Frieza. Many were confused as to what he could need all of them there for. It was no secret that Frieza had no love for the Saiyans, and the same was said in reverse.
One such Saiyan was the low class warrior, Bardock. Though he was a low class warrior, he was well known and respected by many. Even the Queen, much to the King's annoyance. He and his team were just returning from a mission that Frieza had them sent on.
"So, any idea why Frieza had us all come back here all at once?" asked Leak, the Saiyan sitting next to Bardock in the ship as they made their way into orbit. "Honestly that guy freaks me out."
Bardock had a serious look as he had his arms crossed. "Watch what you say with that scouter on."
"O-oh right." Leak said in realization as he took the scouter off. He had to be careful what he said around those. Any one of Frieza's cronies could be listening in. And he could end up dead.
Bardock then saw all the Frieza ships around the planet. He had a stern look on his face. "I don't like it." he said.
"Huh? What do you mean Bardock?" Leak asked. They were making way into the atmosphere.
"I have a bad feeling. If it was so important, why not just call an announcement on the scouters instead of calling us all home. I think he is planning something. It's no secret he has never liked us Saiyans. And we don't exactly like him either." Bardock told him.
Leak then went wide eyed. "W-wait, you're not saying…"
They soon landed on the planet. Bardock then got up and grabbed his things. "The Frieza force had gotten big. He doesn't exactly need us anymore."
"Y-you can't be serious Bardock…" leak said as he followed. He then just started laughing. "Hehe, good one. You almost had me."
Bardock however was still uncertain. Ever since that last mission, he had been having strange visions after that alien attacked him. The report said it was a planet of psychics.
"You sure you're okay Bardock? That last alien really got you good. It's got me, Toma and the others worried about you." Leak asked. He felt concerned for him.
"Im fine. No need to worry." Bardock replied.
Just then, another Saiyan called out. "Hey Bardock, good to see you. Didn't think you would make it back."
"Shut up." Bardock said as he turned to him. "Got any idea why we were ordered back so quickly?" he asked.
"Huh… I'm not really sure. Maybe they found a really strong world to conquer. One that needs every Saiyan alive to be able to take it." The Saiyan said with a big grin.
Leak then sighed in relief. "That has to be it. And you tried to get me worried." he chuckled. Bardock however wasn't convinced. He began to walk off.
The Saiyan they were talking to then remembered something. "Oh yeah, some of Frieza's men have been asking around. They had been asking questions about the Super Saiyan."
Bardock then stopped in his tracks. "The… Super Saiyan… like in the Legend?" He then realized something. As he had that realization, a vision appeared.
He saw Frieza charging his death ball at the planet. It hurdled straight toward the planet Vegeta, killing every Saiyan on it in a fiery blaze.
'W-wait, is that… it is… he does plan to destroy the planet!' Bardock thought as he saw the vision unfold.
When the vision ended, he made his way straight to his wife, Gine. He saw her chopping some meat as she usually does. She was never much of a fighter, so she had one of the more lackluster jobs as a butcher. But Bardock never really cared about that. When he entered, he put on a smile for her. "Hey Gine."
Gine turned with a surprised look, that morphed into a smile as she ran over to her husband. "Bardock!" she said as she happily hugged him. "How was your mission?"
"It was fine. Where's Raditz?" Bardock asked.
"Oh, he's in the military now. He went on a mission with the Prince." Gine answered.
"The Prince, eh?" Bardock asked, surprised.
"Yeah, but i'm not too sure about that prince." Gine said. Bardock felt the same. He wasn't too fond of the Prince. He was too much like his father the King. He wished he took a bit more after his mother. The Queen could be strict and was a terror when angry, but unlike the King, she was more rational and did not mistake arrogance for pride.
"And what about Kakarot?" Bardock asked.
"Oh, he is still in his pod. It's just about time for him to come out." Gine smiled as she led Bardock to their son. When they got there, Bardock smiled as he saw his youngest son. "He certainly takes after his father. He at least has your hair." Gine chuckled.
Bardock placed his hand on the pod. But soon, his smile faded into a serious look on his face. Gine noticed that look and grew concerned. But then, Bardock spoke up. "Tonight i'm going to steal a space pod and send our son to another planet."
Gine's eyes went wide the second he said that. "W-what?! What are you thinking? He is far too young, he can't even talk yet!"
"Listen Gine, I think Frieza plans to destroy the planet and wipe out the Saiyans." Bardock told her.
"W-what? Why?" Gine couldn't understand this.
"I think… I think he is worried about the legend of the Super Saiyan..." Bardock told her. More and more visions appear.
He sees the devastation of their planet. He sees Frieza laughing in triumph. "Hahaha! Well, well! Now that is beautiful! See? Look Dodoria, Zarbon! Look at the fireworks! Aren't they splendid? Mwahahahaha!" Frieza laughed.
As the vision ends, he sees Gine with a look of confusion. "Why would he be worried about that? It's just a legend. A children's story." Gine said. She felt that the idea of a bedtime story making someone scared was ridiculous.
"I know. But he probably wouldn't want to take the chance." Bardock sighed.
"But… but we can't just send our son away all on his own… If you're right then… then he would be all alone…" Gine said as she started to tear up.
Bardock then sighed. But then he thought of something. "Then go with him."
"W-what?" Gine asked, surprised.
"Go with him. If he can only have one of us, it's better for him to have you. You're the most kind hearted Saiyan I ever met. I'm a soldier who killed countless worlds…" Bardock sighed.
"Bardock, this isn't like you." Gine was confused by why he was acting like this.
"I've spent all my life destroying, Gine. For once, I'd like to save something. To for once do some good." Bardock told her. She saw that, by the look on his face, he was telling the truth.
Gine cried more as she hugged him. Later that night, Bardock had stolen a pod and they made their way to outside the city where no one could see them.
"Are you ready?" Bardock asked as he placed the pod down.
"Y-yes… are you sure there isn't anything else we can do?" Gine asked as she held Kakarot.
"I could try to see if I can figure this out. But if it doesn't work, this could be our only chance. If I'm wrong about all of this, then I'll try to find you. I promise." Bardock said with a small smile.
Gine hugged him one final time. "I love you." she told her husband as she then got into the pod. "I won't forget about you." she told him as she placed her hand on the glass. Bardock did the same. Then the pod began to fly as it blasted into space.
Bardock looked up to the stars as his wife and youngest son disappeared. He then calmed himself as he looked to Frieza's. He had to at least try to see if there was anything he could do. But then, he had another vision.
He saw himself facing Frieza. "It all comes down to this. My fate. Planet Vegeta's. Kakarot's. And yes, you too Frieza. We have served you loyaly for years. And you had treated us as your play things. But no more. We are free!" Bardock said as he prepared his attack. "This is for all the people we had killed in your name! IT'S OVER!" he fired his attack at the tyrant.
But at the final moment, he would fail. Frieza laughed as he charged his death ball, and it absorbed Bardock's attack.
Bardock's eyes went wide. "N-no way!" He screamed in terror as the death ball was launched toward him and was engulfed by it. Bardock was slowly dying with his race. "G-Gine… R-Radditz… K-KAKAROT!" he screamed as he disintegrated into space dust with his planet.
Bardock's eyes went wide as his vision ended. He was in a cold sweat. He couldn't face Frieza. He knew that now. So instead, he made his way to the palace and towards the throne room to see the King and Queen.
"Hey, you can't be here Bardock." one of the guards said as Bardock approached. But then Bardock grabbed them and threw them aside. He slammed open the doors to the throne room.
Bardock saw Queen Cassava in the throne room, but King Vegeta was nowhere in sight. "Bardock, to what do we owe the pleasure?" Cassava asked.
"Queen Cassava, I came to speak with you and the King about something important. Where is he?" Bardock asked.
"My husband went to Frieza's flagship. The fool thinks this is his chance to depose the tyrant. Foolish is what I think it is." Cassava sighed as she clicked her tongue.
"I came to talk to you about Frieza. I think he may plan to wipe out the Saiyans for fear of the legend of the Super Saiyan." Bardock told her.
Cassava's eyes go wide at this news. "Damn it. I told my idiot of a husband that this was far too suspicious. But the fool was blinded by arrogance… we can't fight Frieza. And my husband is most likely dead by now."
"B-but my Queen, how do we know this is true?" one of the advisers asked.
"Yes, we shouldn't just listen to the mad ravings of some low class wretch." another said.
"Enough!" The Queen shouted, frightening the advisers. "Bardock has proven himself to the Saiyans before. He would not just do this without feeling strongly about it. Do I make myself clear?" she glared.
"Y-yes my Queen…" the advisers said in fear.
Cassava then stood up from her throne and threw her arm forward. "I am calling an evacuation." she turned to the guards. "Alert as many Saiyans as you can without alerting any of the Frieza Force to what we have planned."
"Y-yes my Queen." One of the guards said as they all ran off.
Cassava then turned to Bardock. "Thank you for bringing this to me, Bardock. I promise you, I will repay you for this if we make it out alive. Though I'm afraid we won't be able to alert every Saiyan on the planet. All our communications use Frieza force frequencies. So if we try to send a mass broadcast, Frieza would be alerted to what we have planned."
"I understand." Bardock nodded. He and the Queen then got ready to leave.
Thankfully, a large number of saiyans got the alert. Less than half of the planet was alerted from word spreading. They all got into ships and pods. Some that heard this however thought it was a joke and stayed.
Meanwhile on Frieza's flagship. Kikono went over to Frieza. "Lord Frieza, I have come to report that the men have finished asking around about the super saiyan."
"Ah, very good. And what have they to report?" Frieza asked with a smirk.
"It is merely a legend my lord. No one knows anything other than stories." Kikono explained.
"Ah, very good." Frieza chuckled as he banged his tail on the side of his pod.
"S-so then… will we be cancelling the destruction of the planet?" Kikono asked. He had always respected the saiyans as warriors, and would hate to see them go and leave the force weakened. But his loyalty was to Frieza first.
"Don't be ridiculous. We didn't come all the way here for nothing." Frieza smirked.
"B-but my Lord, the Frieza Force will be weakened by half if they should be destroyed." Kikono said, trying to persuade his lord.
"I feel they have outlived their usefulness. They can't be trusted after all. Their pride will no doubt bring them to rebel, and I can't suffer that. After all, the king and several of his elites did just try to kill me not too long ago today." Frieza smirked remembering how easy it was to kill the oaf. "But then again, what do you expect from a race composed of warriors?"
"Yes my lord. Such a thing can't be left to chance." Berryblue said with a smirk, while Kikono looked nervous. He hoped this did not come back to bite them.
Just then, Zarbon entered the room with Dodoria. "Lord Frieza!"
"What is it, Zarbon? This had better be good." Frieza glared.
"W-we have picked up several signals of pods leaving the atmosphere of planet Vegeta." Zarbon said, scared of angering Frieza.
"Hmm? Now why would that be?" Frieza asked curiously. He placed his hand on his chin. "They can't possibly know of what we plan to do."
"P-perhaps some grew suspicious of our soldiers asking of the super saiyan, and your decree for all of them to return home?" Zarbon suggested.
"Oh it's no matter. Deal with them." Frieza ordered.
"With pleasure." Dodoria smirked as he cracked his knuckles.
Zarbon and Dodoria went out of the ship and started blasting as many pods as they could. Soon they stopped getting any signals and believed they had gotten them all. They were however unaware that a majority had managed to escape.
Soon Frieza came out of his ship. "Is it done?" he asked.
"Yes lord Frieza. We got all of those dirty monkey's." Dodoria chuckled.
Frieza then smirked. "Mmm, good. I suppose I shouldn't hold it off anymore. Wouldn't want anymore to try and escape would we?"
"No lord Frieza." Zarbon and Dodoria said.
Frieza smirked as he began generating a death ball on his finger tip. It soon grew bigger and bigger till it was the size of a moon. He then launched it forward toward the planet.
On the planet, the remaining saiyans that stayed behind looked on in horror as they watched the death ball hurdle towards the planet. Those that weren't warned were frightened and confused. Those that were, but didn't believe it, were kicking themselves with regret, and their last thoughts were how they should have listened.
When it collided with the planet, planet Vegeta began forming cracks spilling out the molten core. The world began to explode from the inside out. It was the last thing Bardock saw as his pod flew away from the planet. But then, he had a vision.
He saw his son, Kakarot. He was about to face Frieza and avenge their race. It was a battle years in the making, as the tyrant would know justice at the hands of one of the survivors of a race he tried to exterminate.
Bardock couldn't help but smile as the vision ended. He knew that soon, Frieza would have his reckoning. And it would be at the hands of his son.
Meanwhile, Frieza began to laugh at the spectacle. "Hahaha! Well, well! Now that is beautiful! See? Look Dodoria, Zarbon! Look at the fireworks! Aren't they splendid? Mwahahahaha!" he laughed as he saw the readings of the planet on his scouter slowly go to zero. Zarbon and Dodoria look with shock and awe. Soon the planet had completely exploded, and all that was left were just tiny asteroids. Frieza then turned to go back to the ship. "I feel so much better now." he smirked. He felt life a weight was taken off his shoulders.
Meanwhile in a nearby ship. It was the ship of Frieza's brother, Cooler and his armoured squadron. "Lord Cooler, your brother Frieza is destroying the planet Vegeta." said Salza, the leader of the squadron.
"Very impressive, killing off a bunch of monkeys. Any liquored up hill-billy with a shotgun could have done that at the zoo." Cooler said unimpressed.
"Even so, I'm enjoying the show. 'bout time he wiped out the monkey farm." chuckled Dore, the green skinned muscle of the group.
"Wait, I'm picking up several readings leaving the planet." said the tall amphibian like soldier, Neiz.
"Zoom in on the leaders and give me internal visuals." Salza ordered. They saw inside the two pods on the screen. "It is Bardock and Queen Cassava. They are trying to escape with a number of Saiyans."
"Should we intercept?" Neiz asked.
"Do it." Salza nodded.
"No. Let it go." Cooler interrupted.
"B-but Lord Cooler… why?" Salza asked, feeling confused.
"Frieza rules this quadrant, and I have seven planets to destroy by the end of the day. Why should I waste my time trying to fix his mistakes?"
The screen then showed Frieza laughing at his triumph. Drunk on his act of genocide, and thinking all the Saiyans, save for those with the Prince, were wiped from the galaxy with the simplest of gestures.
"Look at him. He has let his arrogance blind him. No doubt drunk on it from killing that idiot, King Vegeta, on his ship. If he is going to whine to our father for control over the entire galaxy, he has to learn to live with the responsibility. If this comes back to bite him, it's his fault. Now, take us out of here." Cooler ordered.
"Yes sir." Salza nodded as they began to depart.
On another planet, Nappa and his team, along with Radditz and the young Prince Vegeta, had just finished conquering a planet. They were surrounded by the bodies of the locals. But then one got a broadcast on his scouter. He listened in. "W-wait what?!"
"What is it?" Nappa asked.
"W-we just got word that planet Vegeta was hit by a massive meteor." he responded.
"What? Why wasn't it seen earlier and dealt with?" the other Saiyan asked.
The saiyan who was listening was shocked further. "T-that's not all, the entire planet was completely destroyed. Our entire race was on the planet…" Nappa and the other Saiyan were shocked.
Radditz and the Prince were over in the destroyed house. "What do you think they are talking about?" Radditz asked.
"Who cares." Vegeta said as he ate.
But then Nappa soon came over. "Prince Vegeta, we just got word that our planet was destroyed, along with your father, the King."
"Aww… now i'll never be King Vegeta." Vegeta growled. Radditz was shocked that's what he was worried about.
"D-do you think your brother Tarble was on the planet?" Nappa asked.
"Probably. Or maybe dad sent him off the planet since he couldn't fight. Who cares anyway?" Vegeta spat.
"And what about you Radditz? Don't you have a brother?" Nappa asked.
"Yeah, but he was only a low-class warrior. He still sleeps in his pod." Radditz said. Though he thought he remembered hearing about his mom sending him off world. But be that as it may, they had believed that now, they were the last remnant of their whole race.
Far away however, after some time of flying deep in the outer reaches of Frieza space, the remaining Saiyans arrived on an old abandoned Frieza outpost on a distant planet.
When they saw the state it was in, they were shocked to see all the ships and equipment was in disarray. There was even plant life grown all over it, with animals eating said plants off panels and the like. There were also skeletons all over the place. Both in Frieza Force uniforms, and in standard clothes.
"What happened here?" Cassava asked in shock and awe.
"I don't know. But let's find out." Bardock said as he shooed away an animal eating off a monitor. He managed to power the terminal up and checked the logs. "Says here that the Frieza Force most likely forgot about this planet."
"Why did they think that?" Cassava asked.
"Because eventually supplies just stopped coming in. The soldiers ended up having to steal from the locals, who didn't exactly take kindly to that. A civil war started, and the Frieza Force wasn't expecting the local populace to put up such a good fight. Apparently there was barely anyone who survived. And those that did were too wounded to last long. The last survivor was a Frieza soldier. Says here he was close to dying. He wrote his last thoughts, cursing the Frieza Force for abandoning them." Bardock explained. Bardock then showed her the logs.
Day: 1
We just arrived on the planet. The locals here shouldn't be too tough. We should be able to get everything set up if it goes well. Though, when do they ever? Another day in the Frieza Force I guess.
Day: 12
The locals weren't exactly happy when we came in and declared that this planet was now under the rule of Lord Frieza. Same shit as usual. Someone calls out saying we can't do that, we execute him to make an example, the rest of the rabble begrudgingly fall in line. Kind of boring honestly.
Day: 43
Supplies have started to slow from the Frieza Force. May just be a production issue. Though we are going to have to start rationing till this gets resolved. Some of the others don't really like that, but what can you do? I just hope it doesn't take too long. The Captain has been beating the whining out of some of the guys. Better keep my mouth shut for now if I know what's good for me.
Day: 52
The supplies just keep slowing. What is going on? Whoever is in charge of sending our supplies either needs to get his head out of his ass, or get fired. We need supplies and they keep sending fewer. I swear, if this is about a budget… We are part of a galaxy spanning empire, and sell planets for profit, you'd think we wouldn't have to worry about a budget. One of the guys, Nanna I think his name was, brought this up, and the Captain killed him for insubordination. Damn it...
Day: 68
Damn it. The supplies stopped coming all together! And we tried contacting the Frieza Force, but they won't answer us. We were forgotten. Damn it. Damn it damn it damn it! We work our asses off to keep these planets under control, and they just leave us? The Captain keeps saying to not give up on hope the Frieza Force hasn't forgotten, but morale is low, and we only have thirty days worth of supplies left, and that's IF we keep rationing. We need a plan, and soon.
Day: 93
We only have five days worth of rations left. The Captain is still determined the Frieza Force will contact us soon. The rest of us… we gave up on the Force a long time ago. Nolem suggested we steal supplies from the inhabitants. It's our planet now. We might as well make use of it. Captain begrudgingly agreed. We start tomorrow. Can't wait to eat something other than the bare rations I've been having for over a month.
Day: 95
We went to one of the nearby towns yesterday. We took a lot from their food storage. We are eating well tonight! The locals weren't too happy, but what the hell are they going to do? They are just a bunch of weaklings, and we are, or were (hope the Captain doesn't read this) soldiers of the Frieza Force. We won't let a bunch of farmers stop us. I got to get back, can't let Lemmy eat all the food.
Day: 118
The locals are starting to get restless. The actually started stealing back the fucking food. And they also have been attacking our men when coming into town. We had to kill a few as an example, but I could tell by the look in the eyes of the rest, they weren't done. I told the Captain, and he said to pay it no mind.
Day: 124
The Captain is dead! The locals launched an assault on us while we were collecting food. The major ranking parts of our forces are dead because they were the only ones who stay when we go out. It was a surprise attack, they never saw it coming. Apparently I'm in charge now, since I was the highest ranking member who is still alive. Damn it… never thought I would be in charge…
Day: 140
This has erupted into a civil war. The locals keep attacking our patrols and our outposts. We have been retaliating, but turns out after the attack that killed the Captain, they stole some of our weapons. This got a lot harder. We have the training, but they have the numbers. And every victory they have, they get more of our equipment. I plan to send our troops to attack a major settlement. It's where we found some of the high ranking members of the insurrection to be staying.
Day: 142
The assault didn't go as planned. It's like they had been waiting for us. We managed to kill a good amount of them, but they could say the same. Strabie took a blast through the chest pushing me out of the way. Damn it… this war… it's hell…
Day: 209
The war has been a damn mess. We managed to wipe out a large amount of the populace, but the survivors have gotten a fair amount of training since the fighting began. The last of them are in the last major city that we hadn't completely totalled. It's going to be a final assault. This will be the hardest fight we ever had. We will need everyone for this. I hope things don't get… too ugly…
Day: who fucking cares anymore
I'm the only one left… The assault had heavy losses on both sides… I killed the leader, but… the rest refused to back down. It literally took everything we had. And we won. Just because only one man is left. Me. Woop dee fucking doo. Some victory. And now I'm bleeding out. Don't know why I'm putting my last thoughts on here. Guess… guess I just wanted to have them be immortalized somehow. When I try to think back to how this all happened… I can't believe I forgot this all started with the Frieza Force no longer sending supplies. Guess a civil war makes you forget. Why… Why did this have to happen… were we not loyal? Were we not important? All I know is, this is the Frieza Forces fault. And that monster, Frieza! Damn him. Damn that bastard and everything he cares about!
Cassava sighed a bit after reading that. "I wonder just how often worlds like this get forgotten in a galaxy wide empire, and end up left to die."
"On the bright side, it leaves us with a place to hide and lick our wounds." Bardock said. "Maybe even a new place to call home."
"True." Cassava nodded. "And thankfully there are enough of us to continue our race." Bardock nodded but said nothing. Cassava had enough of the silence after a bit. "Tell me Bardock, something is bothering you."
Bardock then sighed. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Try me." Cassava said with a smile.
"*sighs* On my last mission, we were sent to a planet of psychics. One apparently survived when me and my team devastated the planet in our great ape forms." Bardock explained.
"Impressive. One great ape, maybe there's a chance, but to survive multiple… Guess you would have to be psychic to have a chance like that." Cassava chuckled.
"Anyway, it attacked me the next morning. It jabbed me in the neck, and next thing I knew, I was seeing visions. Visions of things that had happened." Bardock continued.
"Wait… are you saying you're a psychic Bardock?" Cassava asked. Her eyes were wide at this.
"I think so. Either that or I'm going insane. But I had visions of things that had happened. I even saw what would have happened if I faced Frieza. I lost… badly…" Bardock sighed.
"Well, I'd say you made the right choice. If my now late husband saw a future of him dying, he would refuse to believe it and fight anyway." Cassava sighed. "Anyway, I say you and I work together to lead our people. They will need us now more than ever if we are to rebuild."
Bardock smiled and nodded. "Alright. But what about the Prince? Or my wife? I had her and my youngest set out."
"We can't contact them, it would risk giving us away. We will have to hope we find them some day." Cassava told him. Bardock sighed and nodded.
They two of them got ready. It was going to take a lot of work to make this planet into a new Saiyan homeworld.
As this happened, on a distant planet called earth, deep in the mountains, there was a place that looked to be untouched by the steady march of time.
An old man was going for a relaxing walk, when suddenly, he heard what sounded like crying. He went to see what it was. He was surprised by what she saw. "Oh my, a baby?" he then walked towards the child, but then a woman jumped in front of him.
She growled at the man. "Get away from him." she demanded. She then charged and tried to attack him, but the old man countered by grabbing her and throwing her over his shoulder. Before she could even realize what happened, she was flat on her back. She felt a bit embarrassed. Sure she wasn't a fighter, but to lose to an old man like that was embarrassing for poor Gine. She realized she couldn't win so she grabbed Kakarot and ran.
The old man was just curious as he saw them leave. "Huh… Well today certainly has been interesting. And… was that a tail?" he asked himself. He supposed there was nothing to be done so he decided to head home for the day. He was getting a bit hungry after all, and it was about time for dinner.
Meanwhile, further in the forest, Gine was running with Kakarot in her arms. When she felt she was far enough, she stopped to catch her breath. "*huff huff* what am I… going to do…" she looked at her baby. "How can I protect and fend for us if I can't even beat an old man? And to top it all off… i'm sure we are both hungry…" as she said that, both their stomachs began to growl, and Kakarot began crying. "N-no no, it's okay, mommy's here. I-I'll figure something out." 'I hope.'
Just as she felt like she was going to collapse from depression, exhaustion, and hunger, she smelled something in the distance. It was a strong smell. A delicious one. She was so hungry she was drooling a bit. She ran right towards the direction of that smell. She was running straight towards a small house in the mountains.
In said house, the old man from before was preparing himself a nice meal. "Ah, nothing like dinner after a walk to give you an apatite." he smiled. Just then, his door was kicked open, and he jumped with a start. He was surprised to see the same woman from before. He noticed she was… drooling. 'The poor thing must be hungry. Her baby too most likely.' he thought. He then grew a warm smile. "Come in my dear. You must be starving. Come in, come."
Gine was surprised how generous he was being. This had to be a cruel joke. But he gestured to the food, letting her know it was alright. She gulped a bit as she went over to the table, as she and Kakarot began to eat up.
The old man noticed how strangely they were dressed, as well as the fact that the two had tails. He sat down at the table. "My name is Gohan. Might I ask who you are?"
"Hm?" Gine asked with a full mouth. She swallowed for a second. "M-my name is Gine, and this is my son, Kakarot. T-thank you for letting us eat…" she said bashfully.
"Oh there is no need to thank me. You looked hungry, and I wouldn't have felt right to just let you starve." Gohan smiled. "Now, how about you tell me what brings you all the way to MT Paozu? I normally never get any visitors. And your clothes seem pretty strange, as well as your tails."
"Gine wasn't too sure if she should tell him, but he seemed nice, and let them eat his food. "It's… a long story."
"Oh trust me, i quite enjoy stories. Take that orb for instance." Gohan chuckled, pointing to an orange crystal orb with four stars on it. "It is a dragon ball, and it has a most amazing story itself." he chuckled.
"W-well… alright…" Gine sighed. She began to explain everything to Gohan. Who they are, where they come from and why they are here. Kakarot soon fell asleep.
"My, that is quite the tale indeed. I never would have expected to meet a being from another world before. Certainly something you don't see everyday! Hahaha!" Gohan chuckled.
"W-well, I cant thank you enough for letting us eat. I promise, I'll get out of your hair." she said as she got up and picked up her baby.
"Oh there is no need to go. You can feel free to stay for as long as you would like, it is no trouble really." Gohan smiled.
"A-are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose." Gine looked embarrassed.
"You wouldn't be. And I can't in good conscience let you leave with nowhere to go." Gohan insisted.
"T-thank you." she smiled. "I promise to be of some help around here. I don't want to just sit around while you do everything." Gine told him.
"Hahaha, alright. It will be nice to have other people here. Solitude is nice at times, but very lonely." Gohan said with a warm smile.
"Alright." Gine smiled. She had lost her old family, but she never would have expected to find a new one. She felt happy. Truly happy. He seemed so kind. Like a father looking after his daughter and grandson. She then looked at Kakarot. "I think… I think he needs a new name."
"Hm? Is there something wrong with his current one?" Gohan asked.
"If he were to have still grown up on our home planet, Kakarot would have been a world conqueror. But here, on Earth, he has a chance for a new, better life. I think a new life deserves a new name." Gine smiled.
"Hmm… may i make a suggestion?" Gohan asked.
"Of course." Gine nodded.
"There are times I thought of what it would be like if I had children and grandchildren. If I had a grandson, I think I'd like the name Goku." Gohan explained. They then saw Kakarot giggle hearing that name.
"Hehe, I think he likes it. Alright, Goku it is." Gine smiled. Though deep down, even when she calls him Goku, he will always be her Kakarot.
Soon years had gone by. Gine was able to teach Goku to never stare at a full moon, and even explained why. They had a close call once or twice, but Gine managed to defuse the situation. She was fully committed to making sure that Gohan stayed alive. He had been like a new father for Gine, and a grandfather to Goku. It was the least she could do.
At one point, he had given the two spare sunglasses that his master had for when the moon was out. When Gine and Goku looked at each other, they laughed cutely a bit.
Gohan had even given Gine and Goku a bit of training. Goku had taken more to it, while Gine just wanted a way of defending herself after how she lost to Gohan when they met. As the years went by, they lived on the mountain in peace.
But it seems that peace was about to end as a car was driving up the mountain. It stopped for a second and a young, blue haired girl stepped out. She began to stretch her legs for a bit. When she finished stretching, she pulled out a device that looked similar to a pocket watch and clicked the top.
"Alright. Looks like i'm getting close." the girl smiled as she saw several dots on the device flash.
Meanwhile back at Gohan's house, Gine walked up to him. "Hey Gohan, have you seen Goku?"
Gohan turned to her. "Oh, the boy helped chop the wood, then went out fishing. He should be back soon." he chuckled.
"Ah, I see. That boy certainly loves his fish." Gine chuckled with him.
"That he does. I must admit, it hasn't been easy feeding you two, but i can't complain. My life certainly isn't boring." Gohan chuckled. Gine laughed a little with him.
Deep in the woods, it shows the young Saiyan dragging some rather large fish he had caught back home. "Oh boy, this will make for a great snack." he chuckled.
Just then, he heard a strange sound. And it was getting closer. Before he could figure out where it was coming from, something hit him. And it was big.
It was the car the girl from earlier was driving. "O-oh no… is… is he dead?" the blue haired girl asked shocked. She was afraid she might have killed someone. But then she was surprised when the boy got back up like it was nothing.
Goku had an intense look in his eyes. "Grrr. You aren't getting your mitts on my fish monster!" he said as he lifted the car up. The girl started screaming in pure fright. "This is for hitting me!" Goku said as he threw the car. He then pulled out his power pole. "You done now monster?"
"As if!" the girl shouted as she pulled out a gun and shot Goku several times in the face. Her eyes went wide when all it did was hurt Goku's head.
He held his forehead in pain. "O-ow! What the heck was that?!" Goku groaned.
"N-no way! How the heck are you alive?!" the girl screeched. 'This kid can't be human!' she thought.
"It will take more than that monster!" Goku said as he was ready to strike.
"M-monster? Wait i'm not a monster! I'm a human, like you!" the girl screamed as she dropped her gin and lifted her hands up in surrender.
Goku then stopped in his tracks. "Huh? You are?"
"Yeah, isn't it obvious?" the girl asked as she got out of the car.
"A human huh?" Goku asked.
"Of course. Want papers to prove it?" the girl asked annoyed.
Goku just kept expecting her. She seemed different though. But then he realized why. "Oh! You're a girl like my mom!"
"Well of course I am. What, haven't you seen a girl before?" she asked.
"Other than my mom, no. She and my Grandpa are the only other human beings I have ever seen." Goku replied. The girl was surprised by that statement. "But Grandpa Gohan had always told me to be polite if i ever met a girl before."
The girl smirked. "Well isn't he wise." she giggled.
"Yeah, my grandpa is really smart." Goku nodded. He then checked behind the girl. He lifted up her skirt.
"H-hey! What do you think you are doing?!" she screeched as she covered herself.
"I was just checking to see if you had a tail. But I guess mom was right. She and I are the only humans with tails." Goku said.
The girl was confused by that but then just had a goofy smile, remembering she is talking to a kid. "Yeah right. Sure." she chuckled. 'This kid is weird.' she thought.
"So, where did you get that monster?" Goku asked, pointing to the car.
"It's not a monster kid. It's a car." the girl told him.
Goku jumped on top of the car. "Oh, this is a car? Grandpa told me about them, but I've never seen one before."
The girl then remembered how this kid lifted up and threw the car. "You know, you're pretty strong for some kid."
"Thanks. My Grandpa trained me." Goku chuckled. "So since you have a car, does that mean you're from one of those cities?" he asked as he jumped down.
"Sure am." she nodded.
"Oh wow, how about you come home with me? My mom and grandpa will love a guest, and you can tell me about the city!" Goku said as he grabbed his fish.
"W-wait, you're taking me to meet your family? W-we just met, kid." the girl told him.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Goku asked.
"Uh… n-never mind…" she sighed. She then remembered something. "Hey, hold on just a second." she said as she pulled her device back out. The reading said whatever she was looking for was nearby. She figured it must be at this kids house. "Alright i suppose. Guess we are eating fish then? Alright."
"Great. After we eat and talk, why don't we play together?" Goku asked.
"Hold on, I don't plan on doing anything improper." the girl told him sternly.
"What does that mean?" Goku asked, confused.
The girl blushed a bit. "N-never mind." she then just giggled a bit. 'Guess mom and grandpa didn't teach you everything. He is so innocent, it's the cutest.' she thought.
Goku just thought that girls were weird as he led her home.
"So what's your name kid?" the girl asked.
"My name is Goku. G-O-K-U." Goku told her. "What's your name?"
"Oh, my name?" the girl asked.
"Yep." Goku nodded.
"It's Bulma. Bulma Briefs." the girl, now known as Bulma, responded.
Goku then just chuckled. "Thats a funny name."
"Hey, Goku isn't normal either." Bulma told him.
"It's not as weird as your name." Goku laughed. Bulma huffed at him.
Soon they arrived at Goku's house. "Huh, this is a nice little place." Bulma said.
"Thanks." Goku smiled. "Mom, grandpa, we have a visitor!" Goku called out.
Gine and Gohan came out. "A visitor you say?" Gohan asked.
"Oh, did you make a friend all the way out here?" Gine asked, surprised. Bulma was shocked to see she had a tail too. She just figured Goku was wearing a fake tail on his pants.
"Well, why don't you come inside, young lady." Gohan smiled.
"A-alright." Bulma said as they got inside.
Gohan and Gine prepared the fish for them to eat. Bulma was a little grossed out by how Gine and Goku practically inhaled the fish.
"Ugh… how can they eat like that?" Bulma cringed.
"Hehe, they certainly have a healthy appetite." Gohan chuckled. "Now then, what brings you here? We don't normally get any visitors to Mt Paozu."
"O-oh well… I don't really know if i should say…" Bulma replied. But she had to admit, they seemed nice enough. "Alright, I guess there is no harm in it." she went into her bag and pulled out two orange orbs with stars in them. "I'm looking for what are called dragon balls."
"Oh, I see. You're looking to get a wish are you?" Gohan asked.
"W-wait, you know about them?" Bulma asked, surprised.
"Hehe, indeed. In fact, i have one myself." Gohan said as he got it out. "The four star ball. It has been a bit of a keepsake of mine."
Gine stopped eating for a second. "Hey Gohan, you said there was a story behind that once. What exactly is it?"
"Well Gine, it is said that one day the dragon balls had appeared on the earth at some point. Seven in total. Whoever gathers all of them shall summon an eternal dragon that will grant any one wish." Gohan explained.
"Any wish?" Goku asked.
"Yes. But there have been many wars, and much blood spilled in pursuit of them. Cities and nations have fallen. Men, women and even children had died in the pursuit of their power. There has been no shortage of cruel people trying to get their hands on them. Be it for conquest, power, riches, or even immortality. But there have also been good people wishing to help someone with these balls. Be it to prevent disaster, or to save a loved one." Gohan explained.
"Wow." Goku said in awe.
"So then, what exactly do you want the balls for, young lady?" Gine asked slightly concerned.
"Oh well... If you must know, I'm hoping to wish for a boyfriend." Bulma blushed. Gohan and Gine were taken aback by that. Goku was just confused about what a boyfriend was. "H-hey don't look at me like that!"
"It's just… you could have any wish you want, and that's what you want?" Gine asked.
"What of it?!" Bulma yelled.
"For one, he will only love you because you wished for it. He won't truly love you for you." Gohan explained.
Bulma was about to say something, but couldn't think of a retort. "L-look, can i just have the dragon ball?"
"Well… I suppose there is no harm in it. I wasn't really using it for anything." Gohan replied as he handed it to her. "So how do you plan to find the rest? They could be all over the world."
"Oh, I have a radar I made to pinpoint the signal they generate." Bulma said as she pulled the device out.
"Wow, that's so cool!" Goku said.
"Yep." Bulma said smugly.
Gohan then had an idea. "Hmm… say now, why don't you take Goku with you? I doubt you are the only one in search of those balls. You may need some help." Gohan offered.
"Hm? Well… I guess you're right. And he is pretty strong for a kid…" Bulma nodded. She realized she might run into something else her gun wouldn't help against.
"Really?" Goku asked excitedly.
"G-Gohan! What are you thinking?" Gine asked. She didn't know if she felt safe having her son go out with Bulma.
"Oh it's perfectly fine Gine. A boy should go out and see the world. Have an adventure and make friends. He has been cooped up on this mountain for far too long now." Gohan insisted.
"W-well I… I suppose." Gine sighed. She turned to Goku. "Just… promise me to try and stay safe."
Goku smiled. "Of course mom!" he cheered. Goku then hugged his mother and then got ready. "I promise to come home and tell you all about the adventure! Bye mom, bye grandpa!" Goku waved as he and Bulma set off.
"Good luck Goku!" Gohan waved as he saw the boy leave.
"Stay safe sweetie! Be sure to eat well!" gine told him.
"I will!" Goku replied.
Gine looked on and placed her hands on her chest. 'Please… stay safe…'
As they left, Bulma was looking through her bag as she pulled out a case with what looked like capsules. "Well, since you trashed my car, we are gonna need something else to get around."
"What do you mean?" Goku asked.
"Ah, got it!" Bulma said as she clicked the top and threw a capsule. It exploded, and in its place was a bike.
"W-wow! Bulma, you're a witch?" Goku said, shocked.
"Don't be silly. Witchcraft has nothing to do with this. Everyone in the cities have capsules. Made by my dad at Capsule Corps." Bulma said. "Now get on."
Goku was nervous at first, but then he got on. They began to drive off in search of the next ball. And so began an epic adventure. One that would change the lives of many. But that is a story for another time. How will their adventure go? What challenges will they face? And what new friends will they make? Find out more, next time on Dragon Ball ZMX!
And that's chapter 1 of the Reboot to DBZMX. I hope you all enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing this and hope to continue it a bit. Don't worry, i'm still doing my Rwby series too, so i'm not canceling that. More like I will take turns with what I write as to not burn myself out of either.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading and i'll see you all next time.
