Launch Thirty-Six!
Motoko Kusanagi awoke in her apartment in Tokyo-3, the sun splashing onto the two naked figures who were laying on the bed. Maya Ibuki was curled up against the other woman, a contented smile on her face.
Motoko looked down at the other woman thoughtfully. She had been a surprisingly good lover, in fact, and was very attentive to her partner. It had been a very good night...
Her alarm clock bleeped loudly, and Motoko realized it had been going awhile. Motoko looked at it, then cursed. "We're LATE."
"Mphght." Maya made a sleepy noise.
"Wake up. We slept in," Motoko shook her.
Maya took a look at the clock then her eyes widened. "Shit," she cursed.
"Clothes, clothes..." Motoko muttered as they scrambled to get dressed. They had been somewhat enthusiastic last night, and their clothes were everywhere.
"Have you seen my bra?" Maya asked as she pulled up her undies.
Motoko looked around, "I think it's on the lamp."
"Thanks," Maya blushed.
"It's too late to run you home," Motoko noted apologetically. "I can lend you a blouse, but...," she shrugged.
"You're a bit too tall for lending skirts," Maya noted. "Pity," she added.
"Thankfully the height difference is less noticable laying down," Motoko teased.
Maya blushed cutely.
A vert fast shower and fifteen minutes later they pulled up to NERV's security gates. "Can we.. uhm, do that again?" Maya asked as she got out.
"Call me," Motoko smiled as she leaned in and kissed Maya lingeringly. Then she got into her car and sped off.
"Way to go," one security guard murmured.
"I'm envious," his companion agreed.
"Shut UP," Maya growled, blushing, as she stalked by.

"Evangelion repairs are coming along nicely?" Misato asked as she visited Ritsuko down in the launch bays.
"Unit 01 was literally cut in half," Ritsuko said dryly. "But yeah... it should be pilotable again fairly quickly." she admitted.
"Gendo is pushing, as expected," Misato nodded.
"The other Units are all battle ready, though I wish we'd get enough of a break to study Unit-04's S2 engine," Ritsuko sighed.
"Not any time soon," Misato noted. She lingered, an amused smile on her face.
"What?" Ritsuko had to ask, knowing Misato had something to add.
"Maya got LAID," Misato told her the latest gossip.
"WHAT." Ritsuko repeated.
Grinning Misato told her about the early morning sports car arrival and lingering kiss. "She's getting teased a bit," she added, "unsurprisingly."
"Try not to tease her too much," Ritsuko noted.
"Who, me?" Misato batted her eyes.
"Yes, YOU," Ritsuko said, then shooed her off so she could get back to work.
As she went back to work, Ritsuko was surprised to realize she felt a faint twinge of jealousy over the situation. Yes, she was practically married to Misato and they were very happy together. But... she had always been aware of Maya's crush on her, and it had felt good knowing the other woman wanted her.
It kind of hurt a little knowing that was over.

Gendo Ikari had a odd look at he observed the security footage. "Is this a problem?" he asked Kozo as he turned off the image of Maya being kissed.
"Well, normally I'd ask MAYA to do the background check," Kozo noted.
Gendo just gave him a look.
Kozo shrugged. "She is Motoko Kusanagi,a member of the military police assigned to Tokyo-3 after Bardiel attacked," he revealed.
"Sent by SEELE or the JSDF?" Gendo wondered cynically. He was fairly certain they already had embedded agents from both in their organization. It was innevitable, really.
"Her background checks out," Kozo said calmly, "if she is an enemy agent, her cover is very, vert good and was set up long term."
Gendo grunted. Changing the subject he asked, "When will Unit-01 be ready?"
"It was cut in half," Kozo chided his impatience mildly. He continued, "As I understand it, it should be ready in a week."
"We're nearing the endgame, assuming the scrolls are even accurate anymore," Gendo sighed, "we need Unit-01. Or all our efforts may be for nothing."
"Tabris?" Kozo guessed.
"And Arael. Though it should have attacked earlier," Gendo noted, frowning.
"Assuming the Dead Sea Scolls were ever accurate," Kozo said dryly. "We're assuming the goat fucking shepards were able to accurately convey all the information that was put in their brains by ancient aliens."
Gendo sighed, conceding that point.
"The Angel of the Birds... do we have any idea what it DOES?" Kozo wondered.
"No idea," Gendo said flatly.

"Maya got LAID?"
"SHHH!" Shinji shushed the other students. "Yeah, apparently. Her date was hot too, according to security."
"Wow," Hikari noted. Of course she was equally surprised to hear the woman was gay, too. Not being NERV staff, she wasn't connected to the rumour mill there.
"Whoa," Toji muttered, like any young man confronted by sexy lesbians.
Hikari elbowed him, hard.
"Ooof," Toji grunted.
Mana rolled her eyes. "Maya deserves to be happy, considering how long she's pined over Ritsuko," she noted.
Shinji smiled slightly, "Agreed. Though like a lot of folks at NERV, she only seemed to live for her job," she observed.
Just then, the door to the expanded 'briefing room' that was serving as their classroom opened and Satsuki Ooi hurried in. "Sorry I'm late," she apologized.
"Stand!" Hikari ordered, "Bow!"
"You don't need to..." Satsuki started, then gave up.
In an interesting twist, the teacher who had previously run the class had decided Tokyo-3 was too dangerous and up and quit. After some debate Satsuki had volunteered to take up the job, and now was supervising the remaining students.
"All right, attendance," Satsuki ran through the short student list. "Aoba-san? Aoba?" she asked.
"Family took off?" Shinji guessed.
"I'll pass it on for someone to check," Satsuki agreed and carried on.

"You got LAID?!" echoed across the bridge.
"If I get another surprised reaction to that, someone is getting punched," Maya grumbled.
"Sorry," Makoto Hyuga grinned at her. "Congrats!"
"Agreed, congrats," Shigeru Aoba said cheerfully.
"Thank you," Maya smiled wryly, "I think."
"If she has a sister, introduce us," Makoto added.
Maya snorted softly. She looked off in the distance, "Makoto, can you do me a favor?"
"Yes?" Makoto made it a question.
"I need you to do a deep background check on her for me," Maya said quietly.
Makoto blinked at her, "What."
"I would normally do a background check on someone dating a high ranking NERV officer," Maya explained patiently, "but I'm obviously biased at the moment."
"Great sex clouds the mind?" Shigeru teased.
Maya just glared at him.
"Okay, I'll get to it," Makoto said, before the force of her annoyance made Shigeru burst into flames of something.
"Thanks," Maya sighed.

Notes: It's PROBABLY not nice to do a running gag on 'Maya got LAID' but I couldn't help myself. In the original canon she's pretty much married to her job other than pining over Ritsuko, so I thought it fit.
