Chapter 29: Making a Splash
"Man, this stinks! Not a single bite all day..."
Trout shivered as he sat back against a cliff in the arctic area. While he had managed to use his fishing rod to snag some Pendulum cards, he hadn't found a challenge all day.
"All that work building a new deck for nothing! Its no fun if I grab all of the cards through sheer luck!"
"Then perhaps I can oblige you."
Trout nearly fell off the cliff in surprise, but quickly caught himself. Turning around, he found a girl in a heavy parka and hat walking towards him.
"Gee, you sure came prepared."
"I am Olga, exchange student from LDS's Arctic branch. And you are?"
"Trout, like this fish. You want a duel, then you're on! How many Pendulumstatue's do you want to wager?"
"Two."
"Works for me."

"Since I'm in a good mood, I'll let you go first."
"Thanks. By discarding Gishki Shadow, I can add Gishki Aquamirror to my hand. Now I'll activate it, sending Gishki Ariel and Gishki Noellia to the graveyard to Ritual Summon Evigishki Soul Ogre (2800/2800)! Next, I summon Gishki Chain (1800/1000). And when he's normal summon, I can excavate the top three cards of my deck, and if there's a ritual monster or spell among them, I get to add it to my hand. And what do you know, I'm getting Gishki Zielgigas! I'll end my turn."
Olga shook her head as she drew her card.
"Imbecile."
"What? Care to repeat that?"
"Not a single spell or trap card to protect your monsters? Allow met to show you your grievous mistake. First, I activate the spell card Graceful Charity. Next, I activate the spell card Water Hazard. As long as I don't have any monsters on the field, I can special summon a level 4 or lower water monster from my hand, and I choose Mother Grizzly (1400/1000). Next I summon Cryomancer of the Ice Barrier (1300/0) in attack mode, and I'll tune her with Mother Grizzly in order to Synchro Summon White Aura Dolphin (2400/1000)! Next, by discarding one card from my hand, I can summon White Stingray (1400/1000) from my hand. Next, I activate Monster Reborn to summon the other White Stingray from my graveyard. And when White Stingray is summoned from the graveyard, he becomes a tuner, so I'll tune two stingrays in order to Synchro Summon White Aura Whale (2800/2000) in attack mode!"
"Ha! I'll admit two Synchro Summons in one turn is impressive, but the best you could do was match my Soul Ogre's attack?"
"If you'd let me finish, you'd know my Whale has a special ability. When it's Synchro Summoned, I can destroy all attack position monsters on your side of the field."
"What? Wait, time out!"
"Go, Aura Whale!"
The massive whale opened its mouth, sending a giant wave of water that swept Trout's monsters away, leaving him defenseless.
"Now my monsters, attack this imbecile directly!"
Trout gulped as the two attacks crashed down on him, nearly knocking him off the cliff.
Trout: 2800
"I end my turn."
"Grr, that's it, no more mister Nice Guy! I activate the Pot of Greed, letting me draw two cards."
Perfect! Wait until she gets a load of this.
"Alright, I activate another Gishki Aquamirror! And guess what? My Gishki Vision counts as the full requirement for the Ritual Summon of a water monster, so I'll discard him in to summon Gishki Zielgas (3200/0)! Now, by paying 1000 life points, I can draw a card."
Trout: 1800
Trout grinned when he saw what he had drawn.
"Well, looks like its my lucky day! I drew Gishki Beast, so your White Aura Whale is going bye bye!"
The giant ritual monster launched a great ball of water, blowing the whale back to Olga's extra deck.
"Next, I summon my Gishki Beast (1500/1300). And when he's normal summoned, I can bring back a level 4 or lower Gishki from my graveyard, so come on out Gishki Ariel (1000/1800)! Now with these two monsters I build the overlay network and Xyz Summon! Rise forth, Rank 4 Evigishki Merrowgeist (2100/1300)! Now then, time for my comeback. Gishki Zielgigas, attack her Dolphin!"
The giant shot a massive blast of water from his hands, destroying the Synchro Monster easily.
Olga: 7200
"Ha! How do you like them- huh?"
But just as soon as it had disappeared, it reappeared, much to Trout's dismay.
"What? But I destroyed that thing!"
"And by banishing a water monster from my graveyard, like one of my White Stingrays, I can special summon it back after it has been destroyed in battle. Too bad, so sad."
"Dammit! I end my turn."
"This duel is over. First, I activate the spell card Salvage, adding back my White Stingray and Mother Grizzly to my hand. Next, I summon Mother Grizzly. Next, I activate the effect of my White Aura Dolphin. Now your Merrowgeist's attack is halved."
"What?!"
The dolphin shot a hot burst of water from its blowhole, scalding the Xyz monster as she cried out in pain (2100-1050).
"And just so you know, my Dolphin is treated as a tuner monster when its special summoned from the graveyard."
"Wait, you don't mean-"
"I do. My level 6 White Aura Dolphin tunes with my level 4 Mother Grizzly to Synchro Summon my level 10 White Aura Bihamut (3300/3000)! And when its Synchro Summoned, I get a Divine Dragon Token (3300/3000) in defense mode, not that I need it. White Aura Bihamut, attack his Merrowgeist!"
Trout could only watch as the two headed fish ripped his smaller monster to shreds, throwing him right off the cliff and into the snow below.
"Ow."
Trout: 0000
Olga wins!
Olga shook her head as she walked away, picking up the two Pendulum cards her opponent had dropped.
"Imbecile."
