Chapter 31: Standing Up to Bullies
Yuya ran through the Jungle, on the lookout for new Pendulum cards.
"Come on, there's got to be some here somewhere...there!"
Yuya reached out to grab one hanging from a low branch, only to be punched in the gut and knocked away while Grizzlepike took it.
"Hey, that's mine! I saw it first!"
"You snooze, you lose! Unless you want to duel me for it? Winner gets all of the loser's pendulum cards."
Yuya snarled. He didn't really want to, but he had no choice.
"Fine."
DUEL!
Grizzlepike: 8000
Yuya: 8000
"Winners go first. Perfect, I summon Granite Battleguard (1000/1200) in attack mode! And when he's normal summoned, I can bring out a Boulder Battleguard from my hand (1200/1000) in attack mode as well. I set one card face down and end my turn."
"Then its my turn, I draw! And I'll set the pendulum scale with Scale 4 Performapal Trump Witch and the Scale 12 Pendulumstatue Black Sun, I set the Pendulum Scale! Now I can summon monsters between level 4 and 9 all at the same time, so come on out Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Performapal Elephammer!"
"I activate my trap card, Battleguard Sorcery! Since you have at least two monsters while I control a Battleguard monster, I get to take control of one of them. I choose your weird Elephant!"
Yuya snarled as his Elephammer was entranced by their magic and persuaded to join their side of the field.
"Fine then. I summon Performapal Whip Snake and use his effect to switch Elephammer's attack and defense points (2600-1800/1800-2600)! Now Odd Eyes, attack Elephammer, and thanks to Barracuda's special ability he loses 600 attack points (1800-1200)! Not to mention, Black Sun gives all Dark Monsters I control 300 more attack points (2500-2800)!"
Elephammer trumpeted in surprise, snapping out of his trance just in time to be blasted into oblivion by the attack, while Grizzlepike shielded himself from the blow.
Grizzlepike: 4800
"Now Whip Snake, attack his Boulder Battleguard!"
Yuya's snake pounced, ready to sink his fangs into the barbarian, only for its companion to swat him away like he was a fly.
"Sorry, but my Granite Battleguard can block an attack on one of his comrades once per turn."
"Grr, I set one card face down and end my turn."
"Heh, time to show you what a real duelist can do. I activate Card of Sanctity, giving us each a full hand. Now, with the Scale 2 Pendulumstatue Blue Whale and the Scale 11 Pendulumstatue Purple Sword, I set the Pendulum Scale! Come forth, Lava Battleguard, Swamp Battleguard, and Battleguard King!"
Yuya gulped as the three barbaric warriors landed on the ground, beating their chests and swinging their clubs wildly.
"Now for the effects. Since Swamp Battleguard and Lava Battleguard are both on the field at the same time, they give each other 500 attack points (1800-2300) (1550-2050). Next, Purple Sword gives all of my Warriors 200 extra attack (1000-1200) (1200-1400) (2050-2250) (2300-2500) (3000-3200). Lastly, I activate The A. Forces! For every warrior I have on the field, all of my Warriors gain an extra 200 attack (1200-2200) (1400-2400) (2250-3250) 2500-3500) (3200-4200)!"
"That's nice and all, but my Whip Snake will stop your King in his tracks!"
"You think I wasn't prepared for that? I activate the action card, Vine Snare!"
Before Whip Snake could perform his powers, vines reached out from the jungle and trapped him, preventing him from moving.
"Now your Snake's effect is negated. So much for that saving you!"
"This is going to suck."
"Yeah, for you! Swamp Battleguard, attack his Dragon!"
The stronger Level 5 howled, jumping up and smashing his club down hard on the poor Dragon's head, smashing it to bits.
Yuya: 7000
"Now Lava Battleguard, attack his lizard!"
The weaker one swung from the vines like Tarzan before leaping down, squashing the snake flat.
Yuya: 5450
"Granite Battleguard, attack him directly!"
Yuya groaned as he was bonked on the head, rubbing it to soothe his headache.
Yuya: 3250
"Now Battleguard King, attack him directly!"
"Exactly what I hoped you would do. I activate Confusion Chaff! Since you declared a second direct attack, your King's attack instead goes to your Granite Battleguard!"
"What?!"
A thick fog covered the area, the barbarian king squinting to find his target. Spotting a shape in the mist, he swung his club, taking out his comrade by mistake.
"And since it was your monster that took the hit, you take the damage!"
Grizzlepike: 2800
"Yeah, well don't get too comfy. Boulder Battleguard, attack the pipsqueak directly!"
Yuya was prepared, and blocked the club with his arms. The attack still stung, but not as much.
Yuya: 850
"I end my turn there. Better make this turn count, cause you're dead meat next round!"
But Yuya just grinned. One turn was all he needed.
"Sorry, but this duel is over. Come forth, Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon and Performapal Dag Daggerman! Next, I activate the spell card Polymerization, fusing them together to form Brave Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
Yuya's newest fusion let loose a mighty roar, scaring Grizzlepike while his monsters' attack points dropped to zero.
"What did you do?!"
"Nothing, my Brave Eyes did all the work. When Brave Eyes is Fusion Summoned, all of your monsters lose their attack points, and he gains 100 attack points for each monster affected by his effect. Brave Eyes, dethrone his king and end this duel!"
Grizzlepike glanced around, trying to find an Action Card, but to no avail. All he could do was brace for impact as his king exploded, sending him flying as he dropped all of his Pendulum Cards.
Grizzlepike: 0000
Yuya wins!
Yuya just shook his head as he collected his prize and moved on.
"Maybe next time he'll think twice about messing with me."
