Chapter 35: The Enemy of My Enemy

The male now identified as Yuri smirked wickedly as he drew his starting hand.

"My my, this is my lucky day. Two traitors, AND two of my targets in the same place. The Professor will be pleased."

"Yuri, you need to listen to me. The Professor is just using us, he'll-"

"Enough! I have no time to listen to traitors like you! Just consider yourself lucky he wants you alive, otherwise you'd be a piece of cardboard right now!"

"Hurry up and duel! And when we win, you tell me where Rin Rin is!"

"And Lulu!"

"I'll do you one better and show you! Because when I win, you're both coming with me! I'll start by activating the spell card Predaplast! Now by revealing my Predaplant Orphy Scorpion, your Dark Req gains one Predator counter."

Yuto watched in confusion as a gnarled vine wrapped around his Dragon, making it snarl in pain.

"Ordinarily, any monster with a predator counter would have its level reduced to one. But since your Dragon is an Xyz Monster, that rule doesn't apply."

"Then what was the point?"

"My my, impatient aren't we? Well then, allow me to show you. I summon Predaplant Chlamydosundew (600/200)!"

"So what? Both of our monsters are stronger than yours!"

"True, but I have something you don't: My monster's special effect! Since your Xyz Dragon has a Predator counter, I can snatch it up and use it as fusion material!"

"What?"

"Thank you for your generous donation!"

Yuri's plant-animal hybrid latched onto Dark Requiem with its tail, dragging it into the fusion vortex. Yuri grinned maniacally as an ominous shape formed.

"Behold, Starving Venom Fusion Dragon (2800/2000)!"

Yuri's dragon roared as it slammed onto the ground. It was a hideous, vicious beast, plants and vines growing all over its body as its various mouths snapped wildly. Serena and Barrett backed away in fear, something Shay was quick to take note of.

"What're you afraid of? Should Yuto and Yugo be worried?"

"Very. That monster is the devil."

"Starving Venom's effect activates! When he's fusion summoned, he lets me take the attack points of one of your Special Summoned monsters and add them to his own, so your Clear Wing's attack points are now his!"

"I don't think so! Clear Wing will negate it and send ugly over there to the grave!"

"Yugo, don't!"

But it was too late, as Clear Wing had already destroyed Yuri's dragon (2500-5300). But no sooner had Clear WIng done that did it begin to look very ill, poison spreading through his body.

Yuri howled with laughter.

"You should've listened when you had the chance! When Starving Venom is destroyed, he takes all of your Special Summoned monsters with him!"

Right on cue, Clear Wing exploded into millions of pixels. Unfortunately, Yuri wasn't quite done.

"Now I activate the spell card Re-Fusion! Now by paying 800 life points, my Dragon gets to come back and play some more!"

Yuri: 1200

Yuri smiled maliciously, trying to decide on his first prey.

"Starving Venom, attack the Xyz scum! Wipe him out!"

Yuto darted his eyes about, trying to find an Action Card to save him, but he had no luck. Knowing he was about to lose, Yuto closed his eyes and waited for the end…

"I activate the effect of Battle Fader! Since you declared a direct attack, I can summon him and end the battle phase (0/0)!"

Yuto's eyes shot open, staring in gratitude at the small monster which shielded him from Yuri's attack. Amazed, he glanced over towards Yuto, who gave him a thumbs up. Yuri just scoffed.

"So you managed to make it another round. Next round my Dragon will take you both out."

"There won't be a next round, Fusion Freak! I'll start by activating my Premature Burial, letting me bring back Clear Wing for 800 life points!"

Yugo: 3200

"So what? I destroyed it once, and I'll destroy it again! Just like I destroyed your precious Rin's hopes and dreams."

Upon hearing Rin's name, Yugo gnashed his teeth, and his eyes began to glow, making everybody nervous.

"Yugo? Are…are you alright?"

"HOW DARE YOU SAY HER NAME! I'll make you pay!"

At this point, even Yuri was beginning to back away in fear. Suddenly, Yugo's deck began to glow, but he ignored it as he continued his turn.

"I summon the tuner monster Red Eyed Dice! Now my level 1 Red Eyed Dice tunes with my Clear Wing to Synchro Summon once more! Descend, Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon (3000/2500)!"

Yugo's ace appeared once more, looking more powerful than before. Bright Crystals adorned his wings.

"Time to end this! Crystal Wing, attack Starving Venom!"

"Big deal! You'll only do a measly 200 life points. I'll have more than enough left over to finish you off next turn!"

"There won't be a next turn! When Crystal Wing attacks a level 5 or higher monster, that monster's attach points get added to her's!"

"What (3000-5800)?! But that means-"

"You lose!"

Yuri could only watch in horror as Yugo's dragon rammed right through his own monster, ripping it to shreds before attacking him. The gusts of wind it created were so powerful that they took Yuri off his feet and sent him flying into a building, knocking the wind out of him.

Yuri: 0000

Yuri groaned, struggling to rise to his feet, only for Yugo to march over and grab him, forcing him up against the wall.

"Now tell me: where is Rin Rin?"

Despite the pain he was in, Yuri grinned.

"Don't worry, you'll be seeing her very soon!"

Before Yugo could react, Yuri grabbed his arm and flung him around, turning the tables on Yugo. Yugo tried to break free, but Yuri was too strong.

"Such a strong spirit. I can't wait to break it, just like I did to Rin!"

"Never!"

"Yuri, enough!"

Serena got between them, trying to hold Yuri off when her bracelet glowed.

"What the-"

Before Yuri could finish, he disappeared in a purple light, dropping Yugo in surprise as he vanished.

Yugo fell to the ground, gasping for air as the others ran to his aid.

"Yugo, are you ok?"

"I'm fine, but that fucker has Rin!"

"We can get her back, IF you trust us."

Yugo remained silent, before accepting Yuto's outstretched hand to pull him up.

"Where do we start?"

"We need to make it to Leo Corp. Declan will know what to do."

"Declan? As in Declan Akaba?"

"You know him?"

"Let's just say I owe him my life."
