CLANG CLANG CLANG

Swords clash against each other, a silver curved longsword against a golden straight sword. The fighters push away, the one in regal golden and bronze armor decorated with feather-like flourishes pulls out a card from his belt and inserts it into his staff before closing it.

[Guard vent]

A golden shield flies from the sky before stopping in his hand. The other combatant, his armor red with segmented sections resembling scales and glowing green gems dotting his limbs, charges forwards despite this, slamming his sword onto his opponent's shield. Both of their armor might have been something sacred and beautiful at one point, but that was long gone. Both of them were covered in slashes and burn marks, and blood staining the once-pristine metal. The golden warrior blocks the attack from above and slashes his sword at his enemy's chest. The red warrior stumbles back but gains his balance, he pulls out a card from his belt and inserts it into a slot on his left gauntlet.

[Copy vent]

A glowing object flies from the sky into his hand, it is vaguely shaped like a sword but is made of blinding white light. It settles in his hand before becoming a pink segmented whip. The red warrior lashes at his foe, the unpredictable weapon slipping past the golden warrior's guard with each strike, sending sparks off of his body. He pauses his attacks before striking in a sideways lash, wrapping around the golden shield before pulling it from his foe's grasp. The golden warrior slashes erratically, knocking the whip away, he resummons his second sword and charges. The red warrior is one step ahead, the whip shifts back into white light before becoming a bulky green handgun, he blocks his opponent's strike and pushes back, firing rapidly into the golden warrior's chest. The weapon shifts again, this time into a two sided golden glaive. He slashes multiple times across the golden warrior's body before driving it toward his chest, sending him flying away. The golden warrior stands himself up, he readies both his swords again as the red warrior's weapon shifts into a jet-black lance with golden engravings and silver guard. Feathery golden wings spring from the golden warrior's back as he levitates upwards, a card is taken from his belt by a mysterious force and inserts itself into his scepter.

[Final vent]

The red warrior responds by pulling out his own card and activating it.

[Final vent]

Red draconic wings sprout from his back as he takes to the air. The two warriors charge at one another, the golden one preparing his swords, the red one thrusting forwards the borrowed spear, the gems on his armor glowing luminously. They race towards each other at blinding speed, glass of windows shattering as they soar past. The two warriors meet and everything fades to white.

*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*

Issei jolts out of his bed, cold sweat coating his body. He looks at his clock, 6:00 AM. He sighs and stops the alarm, he slides his legs to the side of the bed and faces away from it.

'You alright, partner?' Said a voice in his head.

'Yeah, Ddraig, just another bad dream.'

'I know, kid, but it's over now, you gotta keep moving.'

'I know,' Issei looks down and clenches his fist, he looks on his desk and sees a thin rectangular box with a stylized dragon emblazoned on its front. 'I just wish I could leave it all behind.' Issei dresses himself for school, before he exits his room he grabs the box and stuffs it into his school uniform's pocket. His parents are still asleep, so he has breakfast silently by himself. He's unchaining his bike when he feels a vibration in his pocket and pulls out his phone, he smiles slightly as he clicks the notification and puts his earbuds in. He leaves on his bike as the voice starts.

"Hello, dear listeners. Welcome to the Ore journal podcast."

A girl with long black hair and glasses huffs as she puts down the last of the boxes. This is Tsubaki Shinra, Kuoh Academy's student council vice president. She turns around before speaking, "Thanks for the help, Hyoudou-san."

"It was no trouble, Shinra-san." Issei responds.

A member of the student council with red-brown hair speaks up, "Y'know, you've been helping us out a lot lately," Her expression shifts into a smug catlike smile, "you aren't planning anything, are you?"

Tsubaki slaps her on the back of the head, "Tomoe! Don't tease the one helping us!" She scolds.

Issei holds his hands up, "It's alright, Tsubaki-san, Meguri-san was just curious. To be honest, I just don't have a lot to do in the mornings, so I've been offering to help carry stuff around since you guys always seem to have something you need brought somewhere else." He says as he nervously rubs the back of his head.

"Thank you again Issei, it has been a great help to the student council. We'll let you go now, class will start soon." Responds Tsubaki. Issei rushed off to homeroom, once the girls thought he was out of earshot they began talking again.

"Are we sure he's the guy? He seems so.. Peaceful." Comments Tomoe.

"Yep, it's him, Toujou-san checked it almost a dozen times. He has a Draconic sacred gear." Responds another member of the council, Reya Kusaka.

"It's strange, usually people with draconic gears are more intense in their emotions, especially if his is as strong as Koneko-chan's predictions make it out to be." Responds Momo Hanakai, another girl who was on the council.

"It doesn't matter, Rias plans to ask him to join her peerage." Says Tsubaki, surprising everyone.

"What? Why does she get to ask first?" Pouts Tomoe.

"You know why, she can only keep putting off Riser for so long, she needs a trump to beat him." Responds Tsubaki. As they talk, they are unaware that they are being listened to. Down the hall, Issei has his ear to the wall.

'Looks like it's already time. Hard to believe it's been 4 years already.' Issei thinks as he looks down sadly.

'Someone is going to make a move soon, partner.' Says Ddraig.

'Looks like the battle never ends.'

The school day itself was rather uneventful. Issei went through his classes, half paying attention as he was always looking to see if someone was watching him. He swears he saw sillouettes dash back behind a wall a few times. The lunch bell finally rang and he made his way to the cafeteria, on his way he was greeted with a usual, but not unwelcome face.

"Yo, Issei!" Shouts a boy with dark brown hair and big glasses. This is Motohama Miyuki, Issei's best friend. He was a talented and smart boy, being able to accurately tell measurements of objects with just a glance.

"Hey, Motohama, thanks for waiting for me." Issei says with a warm smile.

"No problem man." He responds as they walk into the cafeteria. Suddenly shouts are heard and they both stop.

"Get him!" Shouts a female voice as a group of girls in kendo uniforms brandishing bokken chase after a screaming boy with a gray buzz cut.

"Looks like Matsuda's back to his usual shenanigans." Comments Motohama.

"Yep, when will he learn?" Responds Issei with a chuckle. Matsuda Shibaura, the most perverted student at Kuoh Academy, notorious for peeping at every sports club's locker room and being chased and beat up every time, and yet he never stops. Issei and Motohama got their food and sat together.

"So, dude, what are you doing later? I was gonna stop at the bookstore after school and see if they updated yet." Asks Motohama.

"Sorry dude, I got a shift today, I'll be busy all afternoon. Tell me if there is anything new tomorrow though." Responds Issei.

"Aw man. Why are you doing so many shifts recently?" Asks Motohama.

"The pay is good, I get to ride my bike around, and it gives me discounts to the best Sushi restaurant in town." Responds Issei.

Motohama shrugs "Eh, fair enough. But don't overtax yourself. I get that you want to be helpful, but you don't have to fill your entire day. You don't owe anybody anything."

Issei smiles, but if one were to look closely enough they would see the twinge of sadness and regret in his expression. If only Motohama knew how wrong he was.

After school, Around 3PM

Issei rode his bike through the downtown streets, past stores, restaurants and markets to his destination, a sushi restaurant with a sign shaped like a shark with the words 'Circling Shark' on it. He parks his bike outside and enters, the bell on the door jingling as he pushes it. Inside, the benches and counter aren't that full, only a few people due to the time of day. A black haired man behind the counter looks up to the door and sees Issei and smiles.

"Hey, boyo, how are you?" He asks warmly.

"I'm good, Katamara-san." Responds Issei with a smile. This is Masato Katamara, Issei's boss and head chef at the Circling Shark. He was a humble 30-something man who has had lots of success in the past 4 years, his restaurant widely being considered one of the best in town.

Katamara looks back towards the kitchen "I have a delivery order ready now, address is on the box." He says as he takes a filled bag and gives it to Issei.

"Ok, I'll be back soon." Says Issei as he grabs the bag and exits the restaurant. He secures the boxes to the back of his delivery bike when he feels a foreboding presence far behind him. He makes no sudden moves, simply gripping the black box in his pocket. He looks into the window of the restaurant and a long red figure flies by him in the reflection, he nods before riding his bike away to his first delivery.

Later, Around 6PM

The sun is beginning to set by the time Issei parks the delivery bike and enters the restaurant. "I'm back, Katamara-san!" He says as he puts the money down on the counter.

Katamara smiles. "Thanks, Issei, don't know what I'd do without you. Your shift's about to end, you can get going, not like you can make another delivery that fast. Oh, and take this to go." He says as he passes over a container of sushi.

Issei gladly receives the box "thanks, tell Takamasa and Yuki I said hi!" He says as he leaves. He puts the sushi in his bag, careful to make sure it stays upright. He begins his ride home when he senses something, that same presence from earlier. He takes a right, it's a longer route than the main one, but no one would be there. He keeps his cool, letting his pursuer know he knew would only make things worse. He reaches a small bridge above a flowing stream before that changes.

"Wait!" Shouts a shrill female voice. Issei stops his bike and looks behind him. Standing there is a rather attractive girl with black hair, by the looks of it she was about the same age as Issei. She is wearing an unfamiliar school uniform and has a nervous look on her face, further accentuated by her blush. "A-are you Hyoudou Issei?" She asks.

"Yeah, that's me." Issei answers flatly.

"M-my name is Yuuma Amano. I know this is sudden but, will you please go out with me?!" She Asks with a bow hiding her face.

Issei stares at her silently for a moment before speaking. "Yuuma Amano, huh? That's a weird name for a fallen angel." He says nonchalantly. Her eyes widen as she looks back up at him.

"W-what? What do you mean?" She asks, sweating slightly.

"Cut the crap, I've been sensing you following me for hours. And even if I couldn't, there are tons of flaws in your approach. School let out over three hours ago, no student would still have their uniform on. And judging by that uniform you go to another academy, so why would you be walking on this random side road? It reeks of a set up, step up your game." He says, his eyes piercing into her, stunning her for a moment, but only a moment.

"Who are you to talk down to me?! You damn human!" She shouts as she manifests a spear of pure light in her right hand and flings it at Issei. Issei pushes his bike to the side and leans back to dodge the spear. As he does he takes the black box from his pocket and swipes it outwards past the metal barrier at the side of the bridge. As it passes an object forms in the reflection in the metal. As Issei finally falls backwards a silver belt has formed around his waist. 'Yuuma' stares confused at the object. "What the hell? That's your Sacred Gear?" She asks, bewildered.

Issei stands up and shakes his head. "No, not even close." He points one arm across his body, his other hand holding his black box besides his waist. "Henshin!" He shouts as he brings his arm back to his side and inserts the box into the buckle of the belt. A noise that could only be described as if shining light had a sound reverberates out. From the reflections comes silhouettes of a person, they converge on Issei's form, solidifying into a suit of armor. The suit is primarily red, with silver armor on top resembling a medieval knight, on his left gauntlet was a strange device shaped like a dragon's head, and an emblem of a dragon was emblazoned on his helmet. Behind a slitted metal visor, two red eyes glow menacingly. The fallen angel is shaken from her surprise, her form is covered in a dark aura as she now wears extremely revealing "clothing" that was more akin to straps of black material that barely covered her nonexistent dignity. Black feathery wings spring from her back and she jumps backwards, hurling another spear at Issei. Issei sees the spear coming and raises his arm to block it. The fallen angel smiles at his vain attempt to protect himself before it fades as Issei bats the spear away with little effort. Issei reaches to his buckle and produces a card, he opens up the device on his left gauntlet and inserts the card before sliding it shut.

[Sword vent]

The device speaks in a monotone, almost robotic voice. On cue another object flies out from the reflection, it being a red hilted curved sword. It flies fast but stops perfectly in Issei's outstretched hand. Issei lowers into a fighting stance before charging. The fallen angel hurls more light spears at Issei but he simply dodges them or bats them aside with his blade. Issei jumps up, surprising his opponent by reaching her height and slashing downwards, sending her to the ground. She hits the ground with a thud, slightly cracking the concrete road below her. She is dazed for a moment before seeing the form of Issei falling towards her, sword prepared to strike. She rolls to the side as he lands blade first, sending her backwards as a shockwave of force emanates from the point of impact. She looks and sees the area where she had been a few moments ago was completely demolished, Issei standing up, ready for his next attack.

The fallen angel looks fearfully at Issei. "W-who are you?" She asks in a shaky tone.

"I'm nobody important, but fate works in mysterious ways, and it looks like it has set its eyes on dragging me back into its mess." Issei replies coldly. The fallen angel scurries back and attempts to fly away. "Oh no you don't." Issei pulls out another card and inserts it into his gauntlet.

[Strike vent]

A mechanical chinese-style dragon head flies out and onto his left hand, enclosing his fist. He points it towards his fleeing foe as three fireballs shoot from the mouth. The first one misses the target but the second and third hit her out of the sky as she spirals towards the ground. Issei rushed towards where she landed, but on the run over his instinct tells him to dodge, he jumps as a large light spear destroys the ground where he was standing. Issei looks up and sees another figure with black wings descending. Unlike the other fallen angel he wears a black trench coat and fedora. The other fallen angel flies from her crater and hovers beside him.

"So, Raynare, this human is proving too difficult for you?" Teases the new fallen.

"Shut it, Dohnaseek. Seems like he's not as clueless as we assumed." She replies. Issei backs his right foot and lowers into a sword stance he charges at the two fallen, who begin unloading spears at him. Slashes at Dohnaseek but he flies upwards to avoid it, in response Issei does something no trained fighter would ever in their right mind do.

He threw his sword.

"AAAAAUUUGH!" Dohnaseek screams as the curved blade buries in his right shoulder, sticking all the way through his body. He rips the sword out and blood flows freely from the wound. He throws the sword to the ground, it lands blade down, digging into the road. He growls at Issei and charges headlong at him. Issei holds up his left hand as the dragon head shatters like glass and reforms on his right hand. As Dohnaseek reaches him, spear ready to impale him, he throws a right hook, fire spewing from the dragon's mouth. The flaming punch knocks Dohnaseek to the side and back onto the ground as he is dazed momentarily. Raynare fires off more spears at Issei which he jumps to avoid. In the air, Issei blasts behind him with the dragon head, propelling himself with the explosion. Raynare's eyes widened as Issei came soaring at him, right arm cocked back, ready to strike. She barely avoids the blow in time, quickly evading to the right, but Issei turns midair and blasts two fireballs at the fallen angel, knocking her to the ground. Dohnaseek has recovered at this point and has been charging a light spear, the spear glowing with immense power. Issei notices but he does nothing, instead he simply stands there, waiting. He walks closer dragging the spear behind him, scraping the pavement and leaving a trail of scorched rock.

"Hrm, making us look bad like this, I'll deal with you now human!" He shouts. Issei doesn't reply, he dismisses his dragon head and pulls out another card.

"Like I'd let you!" Shouts Dohnaseek as he charges him. Issei inserts the card and activates it.

[Sword vent]

Dohnaseek is confused. He already used that card, what will it do- His thoughts are interrupted as he hears the sound of metal flying at high speed, he barely has time to look behind him to see Issei's discarded sword soaring through the air towards him. The sword slices through his left arm, making him drop the spear to the ground, but his body keeps going towards him. Issei receives the sword, using the momentum of it flying to him to spin his body. Dohnaseek can only watch in horror as Issei spins around and slashes him across the stomach with incredible force. He flies past him, numbly aware of what has happened as he sees his lower half flying besides him. He tries to scream, but he just doesn't have the energy anymore. His body hits the ground, and his life fades. A ball of energy floats from his corpse and is sucked into the reflective side paneling of the nearby bridge, it enters the reflection where if one listened carefully they could hear the sound of chomping and then a mighty roar. Raynare looks at the remains of her ally and flies away as fast as she can. Issei just watches her leave, he's too tired to chase her down, and it's not like he could hide it even if he did. Once again, Hyoudou Issei's life has been sucked into the supernatural world, and he is powerless to stop it. Issei removes the black box from his belt, the armor around him shatters like glass and he stares down at the box for a moment. He walks back over to his bike, which is fortunately unharmed and picks it back up. The sun has fully set, and by tomorrow they would no doubt confront him. But in the meantime, he has some sushi to eat.

AN: Looks like I'm finally doing this. Hello everyone and welcome to the fic. Of course because you clicked on it and you read the chapter you know this is a crossover between Highschool Dxd and kamen rider Ryuki. A crossover that people have done before but why not another? Now before we start, I'm going to be honest, I hate Highschool Dxd. I think the world is interesting, but the series is ruined by the characters and especially by Issei. They set up all this cool lore but none of it is used because they would rather focus on this unlikable, unrepentant pervert that everyone with two X chromosomes somehow bends over backwards for. But with a little tweaking I think it can be a really good story, as many other, more talented writers than me have proven. So fair warning, I have not read or watched the actual Highschool Dxd series, my knowledge is from fanfics and the wiki. If anyone who has read it sees any inaccuracy you are free to review or pm me and I will try to correct it. Another note on the kamen rider side of things, this won't take affect for a few chapters, but I'm going with the american names for kamen riders Femme and Odin. Femme will be Siren becuase Femme is a stupid name, and Odin will be Wrath due to the fact that Odin is important to the Dxd lore and the name didn't make sense anyways. With all that said, comment and critique and I'll try to get the next chapter out soon. Peace!
