A/N: Sorry this took so long, I had to rewrite the whole chapter three times before I was satisfied with it! Even then, I'm a little iffy on some of these finer details, but I think it all turned out to be okay in the end. Let me know what you think!
Oh, and some were worried Kilgara was getting OP too quickly; hopefully this chapter helps put some things into perspective.
I walked back into Lucy's apartment, opening and closing the door as quietly as I could, which wasn't easy when you had to jump up to reach the handle! I made my way back to her bed. After considering for a moment, I jumped up, and settled at the foot of the bed. I looked over at Natsu, Lucy, and Happy after a moment. They were all peacefully sleeping the night away. I glanced out the window, pondering today.
The whole situation with Daphne went really well. Almost too well. Granted, I had to use all of my MP to create an explosive rune that would be powerful enough to even do as much damage as I did to that dragonoid, and getting caught the way I did wasn't very fun, but in the end, it all worked out. And I got some pretty good rewards, too! And then there's this…
I pulled out the companion gem, which had a picture of Ymir Fritz seemingly glowing in the center. I have no idea how to use this. I've read in some fictions that you break or shatter the crystal, but I'd like to get more info before I just go ahead and break something like this. Summoning Ymir here…I hated Ymir's story. This poor little girl, whose town was conquered by a selfish man, getting hunted and shot, before transforming into the first Titan. In my opinion, what happened to her next was even worse. Used as a slave in battle and a concubine to a cruel tyrant. Anger pooled in my gut, causing a small hiss to escape my lips. As much as I want to summon her now, I should wait. Wait until I'm stronger, smarter even; but more importantly, I need to be able to communicate with people first. I also have no clue when I'll summon her from, so there's that to consider too. Who knows, it may not even summon the Ymir I know.
Gosh dang it, Katie. There's too many secrets here.
I put the gem away, then looked back at the sleeping forms of…my friends? Can I call them that? It's only been a few days…and then there's another thing.
My life will just be beginning when their lives end. And with my longevity perk, I'll be around a long time! I don't want to see them die...memories of being shot flew through my mind for a second. I tensed my talons, growling low in my throat. Death. I can see why Zeref put so much research into it. Zeref…I wonder…is his research still around?
I looked out the window again; these were thoughts for tomorrow's me. I was about to lay my head down, content to get my first night of sleep since hatching, when I saw a flash of a small pink light in the corner of my eye. I stretched my neck to get a better look. What I saw made my mouth part open slightly. In the distance, sitting on the roof of Cardia Cathedral, was a pink dungeon portal.
Lucy stirred in her sleep. It was warm. Really warm. She tried stretching out her legs, to get to a cooler side of the bed, but her feet hit a hard lump. She groaned a bit, moving around some more, before she felt something soft tickle her nose. She blearily opened her eyes, still half out of it. She looked over to see a blue tail next to her face.
"Happy, move over," Lucy groaned, closing her eyes, turning her head away from the cat, only for her eyes to burst back open, "Happy?"
Lucy sat up, and sure enough, the blue cat was sound asleep on the pillow next to her. She narrowed her eyes, moving to grab the feline by his tail to shake him awake, when she felt something brush against her feet. She looked down, and let out a small yelp. Kilgara was at her feet, his tail moving around like a snake as he shifted in his sleep. That dang dragon…how can he be so adorable and terrifying at the same time?
It was then that Lucy finally noticed the large lump in the blankets right next to her.
"Natsu Dragneel!"
I jumped up, my instincts yelling at me! I need to get out of here! Wait, where's here? Oh, right, Lucy's house.
Lucy had grabbed Natsu's scarf and was dragging him out of the bed, and consequently, taking me with him as he clung to the blanket!
The two of us went down, me flapping and screeching, while Natsu just clung to the blanket.
"Ugh, five more minutes…" he groggily rolled over on the floor, away from the seething blonde.
"Oh no you don't!" Lucy grabbed his vest and pulled him back to face her, "Just what do you think you're doing in my bed with your cat, again, with a freaking dragon!?"
My claws were over my ears at this point; geez, this girl's going to shatter the windows with her yelling!
"Is it morning already?" Happy asked, rubbing his eyes, "Can I have a fish for breakfast?"
"You most certainly may not!" Lucy's furious gaze went to Happy, "Now get out!" All three of us were promptly shoved out the window, with wide eyes as we flailed and flapped down.
Ow.
As we groaned, making our way back to our feet, I swear I heard Natsu mumble, "Worth it!"
When Lucy arrived at the guildhall, she came up to me, Natsu, and Happy as if she didn't catch us in her bed and shove us out of the second story window. And it seems Natsu was just as eager to see her as well. These guys are funny.
I stared around the guildhall. Every time I walk through here, I still get stares from people. Same thing happens whenever I walk around outside, though I've always been with at least Natsu and Happy when I've been out in public so far. I don't really mind, nor do I blame them! But that doesn't make it any less disconcerting.
"Hey Kilgara!" I turned to Happy, who was holding a fish in his hand, "Wanna have some yummy fish with me?" I stared at him as he offered the fish, a little shocked. To my knowledge, the only one Happy offers his fish to, at least when something bad isn't happening, is Carla. He loves his fish more than anything! And he's offering it to me?
I couldn't help but feel grateful. I offered a squeak of thanks, before biting down and ripping off a chunk of the fish. Maybe it's my changed physiology, but I never knew raw fish could be so pleasant. I see now why Happy enjoys it. Thoughts and memories from How To Train Your Dragon with Toothless also come to mind.
"Good to see you're fitting right in, little guy!" Natsu grins at us, while Lucy gives a small smile of her own.
"Natsu, Lucy," Erza approached us, with Wendy, Gray, and Carla behind her, "I have a job for us." She placed a flier on the table.
"A job!" Natsu excitedly snatched up the flier, quickly reading it; Lucy read over his shoulder.
"Mount Hakobe!?" Lucy's face morphed into one of panic, "Can't we get a different job where it won't be so cold?" She whined.
"You kiddin', Luce?" Natsu was still reading the flier, "Look at this reward! This'll be great for your rent money!" He gave her a big grin, setting the flier down on the table. I looked at it, before cocking my brow. It was the job in the show they had taken to retrieve herbs that were rumored to grow a wizard's magic power…I don't know if I particularly want to go either, I can't really blame Lucy all that much, I'm feeling pretty lazy today…

Then again, getting some fresh air is never a bad thing.
"It won't be that much divided five ways…" Lucy trailed off, before she sighed, "Alright whatever, let's get going. We have to be back by tomorrow!"
"Why's that?" Wendy asked.
"Tomorrow's the Flower Viewing Party!" Lucy cheered, doing a fist pump, "I'm so excited! I've been counting down the days for weeks now!"
"The Flower Viewing Party?" Wendy questioned, "What's that?"
"It's exactly what it sounds like," Gray smiled; it seems he was looking forward to it too, "We all get together to party and play bingo under Magnolia's cherry blossoms."
Hold on…Oh, that's right! I looked at Natsu and Lucy. The cherry blossoms…
A carriage ride and a sick Natsu later, there we were, hiking Mount Hakobe. Luckily for us, there was no storm right now, but that didn't make it any less cold! At least, based on Lucy and Wendy's reactions it was really cold. Turns out the perk Gamers Body makes me immune to the elements as far as hot and cold weather goes, which is so nice! I feel just fine, despite the snow that comes half way up my body!
…dang, I'm short.
I can't wait until I can fly, I stare up at Happy and Carla as I trudge through the snow, with no small amount of jealousy. Seriously, how are cats able to fly when they don't even have wings naturally? So not fair.
We continued our hike through the snow. Erza was stopping Natsu and Gray from getting into another fight for stupid reasons, while Lucy and Wendy were chatting animatedly in Horologium about the rainbow cherry blossoms as Happy and Carla briskly flew through the cold air.
A few Vulcans tried getting in our way, but before I really had the chance to do anything, Natsu, Gray, and Erza already took them all out, before 'questioning' them for information on the plants we were looking for. It wasn't long after that, that Horologium's timer went off, sending him back to the Celestial Spirit World, leaving Lucy and Wendy shivering their rumps off.
"Oho!" Natsu suddenly exclaims before he starts sniffing the air, "I found ya! I knew you couldn't hide forever, you stupid plant!"
"Behold, the power of a dragon slayer's schnoz!" Happy deadpanned, as Natsu kept sniffing.
"Wait," Carla declared, "How can you be sure you found the right herbs, have you smelled them before?"
"Nuh-uh," Natsu shook head, "Doesn't matter, I know this is them!" He bolted forward, "Let's go, Happy!"
"Aye sir!" Happy flew after him.
"Hey, wait for us, jerk!" Lucy called after them, before frowning.
"Enough gawking, follow after him," Erza sighed, "His wits may be dull, but his nose is sharp," I noticed nearly everyone gave me a side glance. I blinked before feeling my snout. Was something on my face?
"Yahoo!" Natsu and Happy began cheering as we caught up to them; sure enough, right in front of them were the plants we were looking for. Plants that supposedly boost magic power…I went over to sniff them; I want to memorize their scent.
"He starts bragging, we bury him in snow," Gray smirked and he cooly made his way over.
"Well I, for one, am impressed," Erza remarked as we caught up to Natsu.
"Alright, let's hurry and-" Whatever Natsu was saying was lost on me. I sensed something that made my heart skip a beat. A magic power, one that felt as cold as the snow beneath me. It nearly rivaled that of Gray's magic. I turned my head, giving off a warning roar!
"Huh?" Natsu looked in my direction, before a silhouette appeared behind him. I used Observe.
Snowfall
Race: White Wyvern
Age: 402
Hold on…Did this thing just give me an age!? Observe seems to have finally gone up a level! Yay! Wow, this wyvern is old! And it has a name! It also looked nothing like the ones we see in Fairy Tail! It looks more like…more like the kind of wyvern you see in ARK Survival Evolved. Except way bigger! I may have also kinda spaced that Team Natsu came across a white wyvern in canon when they came up here. How could I forget that? Though I guess I technically didn't forget…I just didn't think about it. I guess my eidetic memory perk doesn't give me an automatic memory recall.
What happened next though, shocked me even more. The wyvern roared, and I understood it!
"LEAVE!" It had a deep voice; its roar shook the snow around us, and caused a small wind that made everyone else strain their eyes. Something else that shocked me is that I can actually tell this wyvern is female (not entirely sure how, I could just tell), "You are not welcome!"
I couldn't believe it. Though it makes sense that wyverns speak Draconic. If you want to get technical, I could've become one.
"Why not!?" I roared back, only so she could actually hear me over the noise.
The wyvern turned her head to face me. Her eyes widened as she flapped in the air, "A youngling," She flew down to my level, taking a good look at me. Natsu and the others were shouting something, probably my name, but I couldn't hear them at this point. Something about the wyvern was bringing this odd feeling in me.
"Small one," She rumbled, "You and your followers are not welcome here."
"Uh…sorry?" I shrugged, "We just need to take some of these plants, then we'll be on our way."
"This is my farm," She lowered her head to look at me, "My territory," She snarled, "I have hatchlings on the way, and they need to eat."
"Oh, well…uh, congrats on the big news?" I honestly have no idea what to do here…I looked over at the others, who had been running toward me, but they had all stopped and were staring at me and the massive wyvern in shock. I looked back over at her.
"Well…Sorry that we disturbed your farm," I said slowly, trying to discern what was going on here, "Uh…my friends and I do need some of your herb though. Could you not spare any at all?" Taking a shot in the dark, I had fifty of my sapphires drop from my inventory in front of her, "I can pay you handsomely."
She blinked at me, "...I can spare a couple plants," She nodded her head, "But the rest I must leave for my coming younglings."
"That's reasonable," I acknowledged, "Thank you for your generosity."
The wyvern then turned around, snarling at the others a bit as she started to make her way over to the plants. I sensed a fiery magic flow; Natsu's fist lit on fire, and he jumped up. No! He was attacking her!
I leapt up roaring, "Stop!" Luckily my small size, flapping wings, and strength stat was enough for me to jump up to Natsu and ram into him…or maybe I wasn't so lucky, because I landed right into his flaming fist.
BOOM!
"Kilgara!" I heard Natsu and Lucy cry out as I went soaring.
-180 HP
Notice!
Damage has been reduced by 10% due to Arcane Resistance.
I went flying into the snow, my scales smoking and burning to the touch…OW! He didn't even punch me! I just got unlucky enough to run into his flames! How strong is he!? Or how weak am I? If I didn't have Arcane Resistance, if Natsu's flames weren't magical in nature, I think I'd have died again…
"No!" I heard Happy yell before I sensed his magic speeding my way.
I heard a furious roar, before I quickly leapt back up, only to see that I was on a snowbank that was slipping off the edge of a nearby cliff. Can this get any worse!? I felt soft paws on my back, before I was pulled up; Happy had come to my rescue, thank goodness!
"What were you thinking, dummy!?" Happy scolded me, but I wasn't paying attention to him. I was looking down at the others. They were fighting the wyvern now. Guess it can get worse.
"Nice work, Happy!" I heard Natsu yell, "Get him to safety!"
"Aye sir!"
"Hold on!" I roared and squealed, wrangling myself out of Happy's grip.
"Wait!" Happy called out as I went down. I spread my own wings, using them to glide my way right on the wyvern's head. Before I could make it down, Natsu had launched a fireball right at the wyvern, which she deflected, causing an avalanche of snow to rain down on everyone. Natsu, Gray and Erza hopped up on the wyvern, while Carla grabbed Wendy, hoisting her above the snowy landslide.
I landed on the wyvern's head before anyone could do anything else. I took a deep breath, before exhaling my own red arcane breath straight into the sky, shouting at the top of my little lungs, "STOOOOOP!"

Despite the shock this text brought me, I cast it aside for now to deal with the current situation. Snowfall, the wyvern, stopped moving when I landed on her head, while the others pulled back their own attacks when they saw me.
I roared my high pitched roars at the others, waving my claws and wings about, trying to portray what I was saying, "We don't have to fight! Stop fighting!"
"You do not speak their language, do you, youngling?" Snowfall said.
"No, I don't, but I will one day," I said, looking down at her eyes, "Do you?"
"My kind is unable to speak their language," Snowfall said, "Most of us rarely speak at all. I am an anomaly among my brethren; an old one."
"In any case, we'll leave you in peace as soon as we have those herbs we discussed," I said, jumping off of her and gliding down.
"Very well," Snowfall turned, burying her head in the snow. She pulled out with a small amount of herbs in her mouth, before turning back and presenting them to me, "There is something about you, youngling..." She stared at me for a moment, before walking off, burying her head in another snowbank, pulling out with a mouthful of the sapphires.
I took the plants in my own jaws, then walked over to Erza, but not before placing a couple of them in my own inventory as sneakily as I could. It wasn't too difficult, since all I had to do to put something in there was think 'inventory' while touching it. I placed the herbs at Erza's feet, then gave her a happy, reassuring squeak.
"Uh…what?" Erza said, slowly bending down to pick up the plants.
The wyvern, Snowfall, had then taken off, flying higher into a nearby bluff on the mountain. If I had to guess, that's where her eggs were.
"What just happened?" Gray said, looking from where Snowfall went, to me, then to Erza, "Did that thing just…"
"Hold on!" Natsu cried out, frantically looking around, "Where's Lucy!?"
Lucy's shivering arm then burst from the snow, holding up a few more of the herbs "I'm here," She shivered, "Barely…"
Oh dear.

Sweet! It really was a good day for some fresh, snowy air after all!
"Hello, Master," Erza went over to Makarov as soon as they all got back. She needed to give her report before she was able to go home.
"Erza! How'd the job go?" Makarov asked as he took a drink out of a mug he was holding.
"Fairly well, all things considered," Erza smiled, as she began recalling the events that took place on the mountain. To be perfectly honest, she wasn't entirely sure what had happened. She proceeded to give Makarov all the details she could.
"What?" Makarov raised an eyebrow as Erza finished retelling what happened on Mount Hakobe, "The creature just gave you the herbs then left? And there were blue stones?"
"Well, to be more accurate, it gave them to Kilgara, who gave them to me," Erza nodded her head in the young dragon's direction, "And they were sapphires, I think. It looked like the wyvern dropped them," Erza's face then took on a more thoughtful look, "Master…I think Kilgara was able to communicate with the creature."
"Do you, now?" Makarov looked over to where the young dragon was; he was resting on Lucy's shoulders, lazily looking over at Natsu and Gray, who were about to get into another fight.
"I think that he's more intelligent than he seems, or that we've given him credit for," Erza also looked in his direction, "If I understand what happened correctly the other day, then he was the one who also led Natsu and the others to me when I was attacked by Daphne's lizard creature. And when the dragonoid blew up…I could've sworn I felt a magic power surge from him."
"Hm…I've been keeping an eye on him as well," Makarov's eyes moved over Kilgara's form, "I've noticed a small presence of magic in him, about the same amount you'd find in a civilian…though it is small, it's potent. It has grown quite a bit in the last few days, actually," Makarov's face took on a rare moment of seriousness.
"In any case, continue to keep an eye on him," Makarov took another swig of his drink, "Dragons are creatures of wonder, and magic. Very little is known about them. We don't want anyone, including him, to get hurt." He began stroking the end of his mustache, eyes thoughtful, "Perhaps even talk to Lucy about all this. Tell her to keep a close watch on Kilgara. I would also have Natsu do the same, but he probably won't be much help here."
"Agreed," Erza chuckled, "I will do as you ask, Master," She nodded again, before leaving to join the others.
All in all, today was a very productive day! I was not expecting to get so much out of it! Three whole levels, two gacha, and what I consider to be the best prize of all! A wyvern egg! Earlier Natsu, Happy and I had dropped Lucy off at her home. We then made our way to Natsu and Happy's house. It was late at this point, so Natsu and Happy lept straight into bed, in other words, their hammock.
I took this chance to slip out, once again. I'm noticing a pattern beginning to develop here.
I made my way over to the same clearing I first practiced my rune magic. Most of what I had written in the ground was blown away by the wind, but there was still an odd rune here and there.
First up, this new skill and my stats.
Draconic Influencer
Due to your heritage as a Royal dragon, a descendant of _, you have a great influence over creatures of a draconic nature. This skill's effectiveness works based on your CHA stat, the creature you're 'influencing,' and the current situation.
This raises quite a few flags; red or green, who knows?
First off, it created a new branch in my racial skill tree. Most of the skill bubbles I was only able to see the symbol of; I wasn't able to pull up any descriptions. And those few descriptions I could pull up were full of blanks, just like Draconic Influencer, but they all hinted at one thing.
I had a draconic parentage. I don't know how, but I think it's similar to how the gacha had 'spoken' to Tyrfina. The game influences and changes things, things based off of the Gamer's choices. My character creation…I wonder what else it changed in this world; who knows, maybe it didn't change anything. Maybe it already used things that were here.
Setting the discovery of a potential long-lost dragon family of mine, I took a look at my stats.
Name: Kilgara
Age: 0
Race: Arcane Royal Dragon
Rank: Hatchling
Alignment: Neutral Good
Level: 28
Class: Runecaster – LVL 28/100, 42%
HP: 200 [Regens 40 per minute]
MP: 2,600 [Regens 370 per minute]
SP: 200 [Regens 40 per minute]
STR: 61
END: 20
DEX: 10
INT: 104
WIS: 74
CHA: 50
LUK: 20
Points: 140
My INT has finally reached the triple digits! Part of me expected some kind of perk to appear after reaching a milestone like that, but I guess nothing happens when you reach there. I looked at my END and DEX. Aside from LUK, they were my lowest scores. I've got 140 points to work with…
I pulled up my perk trees. There's my Arcane Affinity tree, which is the tree that has the most bubbles filled out, my Royal Dragon perk tree, my runecaster tree, and then my earthbending skill tree. I scrolled through a few options. A lot of these were tempting to get…but at the same time, my base stats need some work right now. Fairy Tail will be swept up into Edolas soon, but I don't know exactly when that'll happen. I need to prepare, I need to be ready! I've tried training the normal way, to see if I could get some extra stat points now, but nothing has changed from that. It seems the only way for me to get my base stats up is to spend points on them, or to level up.
And earlier today, when I fell into Natsu's flames…I survived with twenty HP. Twenty! Arcane dragons are pretty weak when it comes to physical stats…So, making a decision, I put twenty points into END, and then another twenty into DEX. After giving it some more thought, I put another twenty into LUK, just to make sure it wasn't falling too behind. Now my stats look like this:
Name: Kilgara
Age: 0
Race: Arcane Royal Dragon
Rank: Hatchling
Alignment: Neutral Good
Level: 28
Class: Runecaster – LVL 28/100, 42%
HP: 400 [Regens 80 per minute]
MP: 2,600 [Regens 370 per minute]
SP: 400 [Regens 80 per minute]
STR: 61
END: 40
DEX: 30
INT: 104
WIS: 74
CHA: 50
LUK: 40
Points: 80
Not too much of an improvement, but it's better than nothing. I don't want to use all my points right now! Plus, there was a certain perk from one of my trees I wanted to get. It was pretty pricey at thirty points but I think it'll be worth it.
Invisible Runes
With a mere thought and a little extra MP, you are now able to turn your runes invisible, hiding them from the naked eye. They can still be sensed, however. The amount of MP required to turn a rune invisible depends on the size of said rune.
With this, I was one step closer to another perk I've been eyeing further down the tree.
Next, I turned my attention to my hidden quest reward. The wyvern egg.
I tried to take it out of my inventory, but a text popped up for a few seconds first.
Randomizing…
Complete.
Huh? As soon as the text disappeared, the egg dropped a few inches onto the ground, and wow! It was bigger than I thought! It was taller than me by a few inches. It was a rich red color, with some dark, almost black, areas near the top. It almost seemed to be burning from the inside; the more I looked at it, the more I was certain of where this came from, but I used observe to be certain.
Alpha Fire Wyvern Egg
WOAH! I suspected it was from ark, but I didn't expect it to be the egg of an Alpha Fire Wyvern! Were you even able to get eggs from those guys? I thought it was only regular ones! Hold on, does this mean there's a spoil time? Do things expire in my inventory? To test this, I pulled out one of the plants I got from Snowfall. It doesn't seem to have spoiled, but it's only been a few hours…I placed both the plant and the egg back in my inventory. I'll check up on them later. Even if I tried hatching the egg now, I don't know how I'd feed it. Would I need wyvern milk?
Lastly, I turned my attention to my two new gacha tokens. I pulled one from my inventory, then snapped it.
Spell Skill Gained!
Transformation: Butterfly
You are able to change your form into that of a butterfly and back to your original form at the cost of 500 MP. Your stats, skills, and abilities remain the same as your original form in this transformed state, save for the abilities that require your original form.
That's different, I think to myself after staring at the words for a moment. I dismissed the message before snapping my other gacha.
You have obtained a silver shortsword!
I picked up the shortsword that fell in front of me. It seemed to glow in the moonlight; cool! I placed it in my inventory. I looked up at the sky. The night was still young. I wonder if I can find any more dungeons nearby.
I returned to Natsu and Happy's place early in the morning. I searched for hours; I was lucky enough to come across one dungeon. One. These things must be rare! The one I found was green, an uncommon dungeon; it blended right in with the forest, I almost didn't see it. Luckily it was dark, and the portals give off a faint light.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that the dungeon was a lycanthrope one. I actually put that silver shortsword I got to good use. All the lycanthropes I faced were jungle themed creatures, things like weremonkeys, wereleopards, werebaboons, werejaguars, etc. There was even a weresloth! They were all relatively low level, easy to deal with, especially with my Hidden spell. I did find out, however, that the Hidden spell does not mask my scent, or noise I make; so dealing with lycanthropes sensitive ears and noses wasn't easy. Oh, and when the final boss showed up things got harder. It was a weregorilla. That thing had unbelievable brute strength! I only won because of my magic skills (namely Hidden), and he was weak to fire. A few fire runes had him going on a rampage trying to find some water.
It did feel kind of cheap using my Hidden spell so much, but hey, I wanted to get that done quickly. I've explored a decent chunk of this forest, I wanted to be able to level up and move on.
I got some decent rewards, but nothing too noteworthy. I did get two level ups though! I got a lot of jungle supplies, like vines, jungle tree bark and wood, something called sticky sap, and even a couple primitive spears. The best thing I got from it all was a pink information token. I considered using it, but decided against it. I had too many questions about things, I wouldn't even know where to start!
I sat down below Natsu's hammock, looking around some more. This place definitely needs a good clean up.
A/N: There ya go! Next chapter is when things really start to pick up and get intense, hope to see y'all there!
