Kingsley Shacklebolt

Kingsley arrived the day after he talked to Harry. He knew that Harry needed to talk so he went to go see him. He just hoped that he didn't have to wait long before Harry did talk to him.

Kingsley knocked on the sheriff's door. It was answered by the sheriff himself.

"Hello?"

"Good morning sir. I am Kingsley Shacklebolt."

"Good morning Mr. Shacklebolt. I am sheriff Charlie Swan. May I help you with something?" He asked.

"Yes you can. Is Harry here?" He asked.

"Harry Lupin?"

"Yes, him. I am an old friend of his. He is like a little brother to me." Kingsley told the sheriff. "I heard what happened and called but all I got was him telling me okay so I came here to get a better answer."

"Oh I see. Come in then." He said.

"Thank you." Kingsley said entering the house.

"He is in the kitchen." Kingsley nodded and went in the direction that Charlie pointed out.

"Harry?" Harry turned around startled. Before he could say a word Kingsley had already crossed the room and gave him a hug.

"Kingsley? What are you doing here?" He asked when Kingsley finally released him.

"To see you of course. When I called you all I got was 'okay'." He said.

"Sorry." Harry hugged him.

"It's alright. I knew why but I had to make sure." He said.

"Teddy should be down soon." He said.

"Great." Kingsley said with a grin.

Charlie entered the kitchen. He sat down across from Kingsley and Harry gave him a mug of coffee.

"That's cute." Kingsley commented, causing them to look at him.

"What?"

"You look like a couple." He said.

Harry and Charlie blushed causing Kingsley to chuckle. Harry recovered first and kicked him. He then turned back to the stove. His blush never left his face. Charlie just put the paper in front of his face and pretended to read it.

"Cute." He said with a smirk.

Harry glared at him from over his shoulder. He knew he shouldn't have told Kingsley about his crush. The man loved to tease him and now was no different. Before he could say anything though Teddy came downstairs. The minute he saw Kingsley he tackled him with a hug.

"Kingsley! I missed you."

"I missed you too." Kingsley told him as he hugged him back just as tightly.

"Why are you here?" He asked.

"Your big brother. I called him and the only word he seemed to know was okay. I came to make sure that he was alright." He said.

"He is a pain." Teddy agreed.

"I know."

"Keep that up and no cinnamon rolls." Harry told them in irritation causing them to rush and apologize and Charlie to laugh. "That's what I thought."

He handed them both a plate each and before he even turned around they began to wolf them down. Charlie stared at them in shock. Harry on the other hand gently smacked the back of their heads and told them to mind their manners.

"How many times do I have to tell you to eat your food slowly? Honestly you two." He shook his head in fond exasperation.

"Sorry Harry."

"Sorry big brother."

"You better be." Harry grumbled as he made a plate for Charlie.

"We are."

Harry nodded and handed a plate to Bella who had just entered the room. She blinked at the additional person before she shrugged and sat down near her dad and began eating.

"Bells, this is a friend of Harry's. He heard what happened and came here to check on him." Charlie explained.

"Oh I see. That is nice of you." She said.

"Thank you." Kingsley said as he looked at her closely. He could tell that something was wrong with her and it was done by magic.

Harry noticed Kingsley's look and made a motion that they would talk about it later. Kingsley nodded and went back to eating. Soon Charlie, Bella, and Teddy left. Charlie took Teddy to school for Harry.

Harry turned and looked at Kingsley. "What's wrong? I saw the look you sent to Charlie's daughter."

"There is something wrong with her. I can sense it but don't know what it is. All I can tell is that it is magical." He answered.

"We will have to tell Charlie." He said.

"WHAT!?" He looked at the green eyes in shock.

"Oh yeah I forgot to mention that Charlie is a wizard." He said sheepishly.

Kingsley gave him a head slap. "Wish you had told me that earlier."

"Sorry."

"We will inform him when he gets home then. Now talk!" He demanded.

"'bout what?" Harry asked foreign innocence.

"Harry?" He raised his eyebrow at his younger brother. "You know you can tell me anything."

"I know that." Harry said as he began cleaning the kitchen to avoid making eye contact with the auror turned minister.

Said minister grabbed Harry and turned him around so that they were looking at each other. He then held onto his face to make sure that Harry couldn't look away.

"Harry come on and make this easy for the both of us." He said.

"Fine. I'll talk." He grumbled.

"Great. Let's go to the living room and talk." He said.

They sat down and after a few minutes Harry began to talk. He told Kingsley everything that he felt. How scared he was, how worried, and most of all how he felt like a failure for not protecting Teddy better.

"I should have been more alert. If I had, then Ronald wouldn't have been able to get near Teddy." He revealed.

"Oh Harry." Kingsley said with a sigh and hugged Harry. "You can't keep everyone away. He would have found Teddy eventually and you know it. What matters is that Teddy is safe and sound."

"But-"

"No buts, Harry. Nothing you could have done could have prevented this." He said.

Harry was silent for a while. Kingsley just held him knowing that he needed time to think about what he said. Soon though the dam burst and Harry began sobbing.

"I-i know that y-you are right but I a-almost l-lost Teddy."

Kingsley started rubbing circles into his back. "Shh I know Harry, I know."

"I can't lose him, Kingsley. I just can't." He said.

"Shh it's alright Harry, it's alright. Teddy is safe now and Ron has been sent away." He assured him.

"But he could come back. What if he manages to kill Teddy just because of me!" He yelled.

"We won't let him. He has been sent to Azkaban dungeons. He is chained there with both magic and muggle proof chains. He can't escape this time. The others can't escape either." He said.

"You can't know that!"

"I can. I have their rooms monitored all the time now. Okay?"

All Harry did was nod. Soon his sobs died down and his breathing evened out. Kingsley laid him down on the couch, whipped his tears, and covered him up. He then sat down on the other chair and summoned a book to read.
