Chapter 13 - Prophecy
Videl awoke feeling drowsy. She felt as if that shouldn't be the case with her being partially cybernetic, but the Saiyan side of her had urged her to rest. For most, it would've been a difficult transition but to her, all she did know was that she was saved from a mindless servitude to the horrid mad AI doctor and was no longer a puppet. Not to mention this made her feel far more...compatible, with someone like Vegehan.
In the first month of her coping with this new reality, she had to be comfortable with the additional limb attached just above her cute rump. To her, she felt and looked cute, but the idea of needing to put an extra hole in most of her sweats and jeans was a hassle. Still she had no heart to dismember a part of her body, so she insisted on keeping it.
Besides, it helped her scrub her back clean when in the shower and was handy on reaching things she normally needed to bend over or turn around.
Of course, she had Bulma do a thorough check-up once she regained her own identity. Apparently most of the cybernetics were done discreetly as to not interfere with her biological functions. Miniature factories were spread strategically across her body to manage the number of nano-machines to activate whenever she receives damage and dispatch the machines that aren't in use. Theoretically she had enough of them to last an enduring fight and only needed to rest to restock more. Moreover, the core necessary for her limitless stamina only kicked in when she's pushing through adrenaline and is distributed accordingly to fight at her peak till she wills herself to relax.
She was truly built to last, Doctor Gero's masterpiece of scientific ingenuity mixed with genetic splicing of Saiyan half-blood's limitless potential. Though she was more or less completely Saiyan by virtue of experimentation, she still maintained her state of mind and relatively acted, ate, breathed, talked and walked just as she did before minus the tail.
If there was one thing she noticed that remained was the plug to the back of her head, now covered by shoulder length hair she kept pulled back in a ponytail. The last vestige of potential integration of AI piggybacking her consciousness. She wished she could have it removed surgically, but doing so could be traumatic to her higher brain functions so it was left as it was.
"No need to dwell on the past," Videl opened the door, dressed in a soft sleeveless red silk top and a yellow short-sleeved shirt that allowed her lower back and navel to be exposed to the warm Summer air. With a red trimmed black skirt covering her creamy thighs, she wore red socks that fit snugly into yellow outline white shoes. Her own brown furred tail swished comfortably behind her. Smiling, she took off into the air, her red-bowed hair whipped along with her clothes as she took off into the sky. "Time to seize the day!"
"Hey, thanks for helping me out guys," Vegehan thanked sincerely as he left the Nine Circles Shopping District with a fancy fedora hat and grey suit dressed Krillin and the usual sleeveless jack, white tee and blue jean wearing Eighteen. Vegehan himself wore a dark blue muscle shirt with a green obi wrapped around his waist just above his matching dark blue slacks. His right hand was holding what looked like a fancy bag, the other scratching his iconic torch shaped hair. "I know this is cutting it close, given how soon the party is."
"Just as long as you don't show up late like we all know Goku will, and I'm sure you'll get to see you know who," Krillin nudged Vegehan with a wiggle of his brows. "She'll be shocked when you show that off."
"And so will Bulma," He murmured.
"After everything she did for Videl, I'm sure she understands where everyone stands. Unlike Chi-Chi, she doesn't strike me as somebody who holds onto the past for long," His best friend tried to reassure him.
"She'll love it," Eighteen grinned, holding her child in her left hand as she smiled carefree next to her mother. She was dressed in a blue and yellow dress with a pair of pink laced tennis shoes. "Just don't put it off, or otherwise, I'm going to punch you."
"That'll make it three women who's hit me," Vegehan joked with a laugh.
"You should make that four," A voice piped up behind him, making the fused Saiyan lurch and twist around with a start. He settled down with a lopsided smile as Videl giggled at his sudden alarm. "Sorry, I know it really wasn't me but it kinda counts."
"Nah, I can never count that," He replied innocently, absentmindedly rustling the contents of the bag. When he noticed her line of sight directed to it, he immediately broke out into a cold sweat. He couldn't hide it, that would make it more suspicious and she'd try to get him into spilling the beans.
"Oh, how sweet! You went out of your way to get a gift for Bulma!" Videl squealed out with girlish, hand clapped cheer. Turning to look at Eighteen and Krillin, they both seemed to smile as if they knew something she didn't. But thankfully, she seemed to only encourage Vegehan by hugging him around the middle. "That's so nice of you. Even though you needed help getting it, it's the thought that counts, isn't it?"
"Thank Gamikai for misunderstandings being my best friend today," Vegehan thought with a sheepish laugh. "You know me, always waiting till the last minute on these things."
Gaping, Videl removed herself from her beloved boyfriend and clamped hands around her mouth.
Smugly grinning, the Saiyan stared at her with a chuckle let out haughtily, "Let me guess. You forgot to get her a gift."
"I totally DID!" She reeled back while pulling at her hair.
"We're still hanging around the mall for a little bit before the party starts. Why not join us?" Eighteen offered with a nonchalant shrug and smile.
"Yes! Please 'ang with us!" Marron urged with a broad smile.
Huffing, Videl rolled her eyes and grinned back at being bailed out, "Sure, how can I say no to hanging out with my favorite neighbors."
"YAAAAAY!" The blonde girl cheered with giddy delight at being with her favorite play partner.
Turning to give Vegehan a chaste kiss, she winked at him and waved as she left with Krillin and Eighteen's family, "I'll catch up with you at the party. If I'm late, tell Bulma I had something important to take care of."
"Will do," He nodded, feeling himself sigh with relief. Krillin had smugly grinned over his shoulder and mouthed the words 'you lucked out' as they left. He truly didn't expect Videl's sudden appearance, but her ability to mask her presence was just one of the things that came more naturally in the past few months. If anything, he started to feel competitive by the now intimidating girl who could match his power and possibly in the future, exceed it.
This realization was all the more important for what he wanted to do.
Looking back in the bag, he smiled at its contents. He did remember to get a gift for Bulma but the present for Videl was far more important. For more reasons than one.
The long awaited birthday had finally started. Like most spectacles, Bulma had went out of her way to make it a big ordeal. People who gathered started off in the lawn but were quickly ferried off to what they assumed was a fancy yacht. Much to their surprise, the vessel was a newly developed Capsule Vehicle intended to be sold to the wealthy and then later the military.
A hovering luxury aerial transport complete with its own extensive suites to observe from multiple floors, with the main events transpiring on a larger than football field deck on the uppermost floor. Booths holding many of the food choices were held near the back, with the front being used for karaoke, dancing and a large swimming pool.
Floating in the sky above West City, all of the party guests mingled with each other on the vessel while the many crew members of Capsule Corp operated the lower decks and the flight cabin. There, familiar faces like the Ox King, Muten Roshi, the Son Family and Eighteen's family were present. Even some were part of Videl's graduating class; those that Videl remembered enough to send invitations to, that is.
"So Videl," Erasa piped up with a nervous clearing of her throat. "You look good. I like that you grew back your hair and your outfit is cute."
"Oh, thanks Erasa!" Videl gushed, turning in a circle to let her skirt spin along with her ponytail. And in addition, her furred tail swished along with her body. Something she noted that her blonde bestie tried to ignore, but a bewildered Sharpener kept ogling at. Sighing, she put her hands on her hips and arched her prehensile upright like a cat. "What's the matter, Sharpener?"
"Uh, it's just...well..."
"You having a tail is weird," Sharpener bluntly interrupted Erasa's stuttering nervous babble. Despite the ditsy friend's sudden dagger filled glare aimed at the brawny man, he rolled his eyes and gestured to explain himself. "I mean, sure, it's one thing that you were dating that Vege-hans-"
"Vegehan."
"-whatever," He snorted, shrugging with afterthought. "It's not my business who you date, you were always a bit too extreme for my tastes anyways."
"Sharpener!" Erasa snapped.
"But when did you genetically splice yourself to have a monkey's tail?!" The blonde athlete pointed almost accusingly at her. "Full bipedal anthro-person, normal. Human, normal. But just having a tail is odd, isn't it?!"
"I dunno, Sharpener," Videl hummed innocently. Turning her head to look up at an angle to show the left side of her face, eyes closed as she exhaled nasally with indignation. "What if I did have a tail? What then?"
"Are you part of a government conspiracy-?!"
"Sharpener Barry Head!" Erasa yanked on Sharpener's right ear, pulling him down to be yelled at painfully by the normally passive blonde who now had bulging angry blue orbs. "This is our friend, Videl! IF she did get genetically spliced, what difference does it make?! If she has a tail, she has a tail! Deal with it!"
"B-But-But-!"
"Apologize," She intoned sternly, releasing her hold on his ear. "Now."
Stumbling back upright while rubbing his affected ear, he cast an ashamed glance at Videl. He remembered how far back he knew her. She was never normal now that he thought about it. Always following in her dad's footsteps. And then after Gohan came into town she ceased being that tough girl who was hard to be approached by anybody but her closest friends. She became approachable, even nice to the general school body.
Her having a tail freaked him out, but it didn't change who she was.
"I'm sorry, Videl," Sharpener rubbed the back of his neck, bowing his head humbly. "Didn't mean anything by it, I was just...reeling from surprise."
"Oh believe me, it was something I had to get used to," Videl admitted with a raise of her hands. Grinning, she reached down to grab a hold of her tail. Stroking it a few times, she looked up and offered them to touch. "It's not that bad. I kinda like having an extra hand where I can't reach."
Erasa reached out hesitantly, but actually felt entranced by the touch. The fur was so soft, it's thickness was about a bit wider than her own arm. Urging Sharpener to do the same he also became childishly fascinated by it.
"See?" Vegehan mentioned from a distance, arms crossed and an assured grin present on his face. "What did I tell ya? Hardly an issue for her."
"So I see," Bulma replied with a dry tone.
"C'mon. Say it for me."
"You were right," The lavender haired woman snorted, turning quickly to raise a finger at him as she added lowly. "This time."
"You're just jealous I was right," The Fused Saiyan cheekily remarked.
"Ugh, you're insufferable," She responded with a groan.
"Compliment accepted," He huffed with a smirk.
"Geez, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're both married," Responded a familiar voice, one that Vegehan hadn't figured would be present. It was someone in a white collared black tie affixed suit with shades placed over the eyes. Her hair was swept back in a professional crew cut, the color of deep purple. Behind the shades one could notice piercing blue eyes that arched with curiosity. "What?"
"Aren't you Colonel Violet?" Vegehan intoned with a glare. "What the Hell are you-?"
"Hold your horses, Vegehan!" Bulma interjected quickly, putting herself between her and her fused former husband. "She works for me."
"...come again?" He asked in a visible double take.
"I hired her not long after her employer wasn't able to pay her. So I paid her, handsomely, to be my annual bodyguard and assistant," Bulma proudly placed her hands on her hips, briefly gesturing over to the casually leaning woman against the wall of the ship. "She's quite helpful, honestly."
Palming his face, Vegehan sighed, "Leave it to one of the richest people in the world to put a superficial mercenary in her pocket."
"It works out. She pays me and performs necessary upgrades on my now cybernetic body, so it's a win-win for me," She responded nonchalantly with a shrug. Leaning her head to the side, she cast a dark grin. "I got the better deal, unlike the hick and Gero."
Looking over at Bulma, he remembered that the details of the two deactivated artificial minds was left vague to him. Arching a brow while crossing his arms to look at her, he visibly tensed at the explanation she had for him.
"Thirteen's programming and Gero's were compatible to a fault in the prior's body. I found it an intriguing ingenious idea scavenge particular parts as safeguards to be keys to unlock its true purpose. I kept him as is, but made sure protocols locked him in place to never attack anyone or touch anything of mine without my permission," The lead mind in Capsule Corp explained, nodding to a nearby table being waited on by a spike-haired man in a waiter's attire. He looked almost permanently disgusted, much to Vegehan's pleasure. "He's not a threat, not in the way he wanted to be."
"I'm always reminded why you're the one who created time travel and shut-off remotes to homicidal Androids," Vegehan mused with only a hint of nervousness; the rest was compliment to the part of her that he still loved.
"Just know when to fall in line, and I won't put a mind control chip on you when you're asleep," Bulma teased with a haughty laugh, one that made the man with torch shaped hair visibly grimace. As if to change subjects, she previewed the guests who were already present.
Dende was still in his Kami symbol adorned purple gi with his Guardian neck wrapped cloak, staff in hand and mingling with the guests. Piccolo wasn't far away, talking idly with Tenshinhan while Chaozu conversed with Yamcha. Puar and Oolong seemed to enjoy desserts by the concessions, Goten and Trunks racing around playing ball near the pool. Even a mysterious trio of children she swore she recognized was digging into the buffet.
Apart from King Ox and Chi-Chi talking with Mr. Satan, various graduates from Orange Star High School and a few other Capsule Corp honorary guests. Last but not least was Majin Buu and Bee were simply enjoying what looked like a smorgasboard of treats. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves.
Still, she couldn't help but let out an annoyed sigh as she took a sip of champagne.
"What's the matter?" Vegehan asked.
"Oh, you know," She gruffly pointed out. "The only person who isn't here is probably busy lifting weights. I mean, the man's wife and kids are here, but he's of course the only no-show. Even PICCOLO showed up for this social event, and he's not a social type."
"You know him. He's probably still trying to bridge the gap between us," Vegehan laughed aloud, finding the thought almost incredulous. "I find his tenacity admirable, even if it's a little annoying. He wouldn't have remained my rival for so long if he all he did was sit around doing nothing."
"What about you? I'm sure you and Videl are now the perfect partners?"
"Uh-what?" He sputtered out.
Sighing, Bulma smiled sloppily as she enunciated, "I meant, sparring partners. I mean, that's part of the reason why you were so okay with her having the body she has now, right?"
"I'm not that selfish," Vegehan refuted with a snort, before turning his gaze back to Videl. She was now talking to other graduates who were attending, smiling and exchanging conversation. Despite the tail that occasionally flicked and curled behind her, she seemed just as happy if not more so than he remembered for the past year he spent with her. "I knew that, deep down, she wanted to be a bigger part of the world she discovered. She was figuratively at the bottom of the totem pole; even Yamcha was a higher caliber than she was. She'd never complain but she'd always harbor a desire to at least be in the league of the best, if only so she felt like she was equals or at least relevant.
"I think she got more than she ever wished. When I asked her about it, her answer was simple," Vegehan turned, a warm smile with a slight blush drawn to his cheeks that made Bulma look in awe of his endearing expression. "'I've always had what I wanted just by being beside you. Now that I feel what you feel, I can never be drawn apart from you, ever again'."
"That's so sweet," Bulma swooned with a starstruck expression and folded hands held next to her left cheek. "So, what's kept you from you-know-what?"
"About that, I-" Vegehan began to say, till he felt something approaching. Looking up towards the sky, he felt a presence. It felt like a faint pulse of Ki but moving in rapidly. The others must've noticed too for everyone who was able to sense energy had turned to look up towards the upper atmosphere; all that is except for Majin Buu, who kept on eating.
"Is that a meteor?" Roshi asked while peering through his shades.
"It's too small to be that," Eighteen noted. "A shooting star?"
"That's a meteorite, hunny," Krillin corrected.
"-which looks like it's heading straight for us!" Yamcha shouted with alarm.
No one had to blink to see that the projectile was caught by the Potara Warrior. Other than a slight pop in the air above the aerial luxury liner, the steaming sphere was caught by Vegehan. Much to his surprise, it was intact after such a jerking impact and was in relative good shape. Then it became clear.
This was an Attack Ball model ship from the Freeza Army!
"What in the Hell?" He thought, lowering to the deck of the ship where a crowd of people gathered. Not bothering to shoo them away, he ripped off the door of the ship with ease. Peering inside the dark interior he saw a figure who was covered in blood, wearing what looked like a more upgraded version of the Elite Battle Armor he wore as Vegeta back on Namek. Armored braces were scorched around defined yet smaller wrists, the pliant fabric was torn and lascerations with burns were shown. The white plasteel was blackened by plasma, a cracked green lens Scouter worn over the left eye affixed before a familiar crest of raven hair and a brow-line nearly identical to his.
His blood ran cold and he bore sweat at what he saw.
"No...no-no-no-no," Vegehan muttered out, his hands clenching tightly on the exterior lip of the Attack Ball's opening, hard enough to warp the atmosphere resisting metal. "This...this has to be some kind of joke!"
"Vegehan?" Videl inquired, standing off to his right with a look of seriousness clashing with the worry in her voice. "Who's inside?"
"DENDE!" He suddenly howled, turning to call upon the Namekian Guardian. "Get him out of here and heal him! He looks like he's in serious condition!"
"I-I'm on it!" Dende rushed quickly with a aerial dash towards the transport. By the time he moved in to help pry the injured body, he looked visibly perplexed along with most of the people spectating. Despite the swelling around the left eye and the various burns to cuts over the right side of the face, his familiar features were uncanny. Looking up with bewilderment at Vegehan, he was silenced by a dagger filled glare that redirected him to immediately perform healing.
"H-Hey! That guy looks like you!" Mr. Satan pointed out, the only one dumb enough to press an issue sore for the Fused Saiyan's nerves.
"That's because he's my brother," Vegehan acknowledged through gritted teeth, arms already crossing before his chest.
"Your...brother?" Videl asked with eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.
"His name is Tarble, someone deemed unfit to inherit any title of our royal bloodline," Vegehan intoned stoically, glowering towards the bloodied man who was slowly rejuvenated back to full health. Though there was ice in his words, they became softer as his eyes were drawn to such a familiar face. "My father sent him to a peaceful world, one that would be benefited having a Saiyan of his seed carry out to fulfill a less bloody life than the rest of us could. However, I lost interest and contact with him decades ago, assumed he was wiped out during Freeza's hunt to exterminate the lot of us save for me, Nappa and Raditz.
"Which only leaves two questions," He finished, the spectators to this newfound dramatic development looked on to the healing, battle worn sibling of the strongest warrior of Earth. "Who did this to him and why did he come here?"
Everything had gone horribly wrong.
Not that everything was fine and dandy years ago, but at least there was fear ensuring order was secured. But ever since the rumors had become validated by Prince Vegeta spreading terror nearly eleven years ago, targeting many bases belonging to Freeza or affiliated with his holdings, it was painfully obvious. The family of King Cold, the rulers of Arcos and supreme commanders of the Freeza Army, were dead.
At first, Sorbet was able to use his wit and cunning to keep everyone in line. Between loyalists who trusted his judgement like the rising star, Tagoma, and the stoic Fleet Commander, Shisami, he had a firm grip over the lesser battalions in the drafted force of intergalactic fighters. From holding sway from every part of the known galaxy to only keeping in touch to several systems, his control had rapidly deteriorated.
The slaves on one world to some renegade soldiers on another, each one bigger than the last needing to be quelled. One time an entire machine planet had a catastrophic meltdown due to some eccentric scientists in their employ going crazy without Freeza's guidance. Exploding into molten slag, their chief shipyards were annihilated, leaving nothing but one flagship that was in his possession and a few dozen Attack Balls.
Now, after a clever ruse in attempt to enslave a prosperous world, he was met with one of the biggest renegade elements. Not only was it a pair of elites in his army, but they had become far stronger than he remembered. So much so that they had wrecked their ship and the world that was fertile to be used to help replenish the army's resources was now the center of a pitched battlefield.
For the past half year, the soldiers on his side and theirs continued crude skirmishes while sapping what usable sustenance they could scrounge from the planet's burning high tech cities. Trench to trench, ruin to ruin, they all played cat and mouse with each other to drag out as much time as they could so that one or the other's reinforcements could arrive and extract them from the planet they were marooned on.
But in a twist of horrible fate, one of his men had foolishly led the leaders of their enemies back to their camp. Accompanied by their own elites, it was a ghastly last stand with him at the back and Shisami with Tagoma at the front. The red skinned bull brawny soldier and the lavender skinned reptile soldier bravely stood their ground with a rotund frog -Kaeru- nearby and what looked like a female twin-tail headed woman -Tobi- in shapely armor.
"Ha! This is the end of the line for you!" An orange outlined-red raptor soldier pointed a long scimitar at them. "We're going to take our time cutting you down to size!"
"Or just blow you away," Another soldier, this one being a burly granite skinned golem with barely fitted speedo to cover his hindquarters while the rest of him was bare. The Sculpted statuesque being grinned with grinding motion to show stalactite and stalagmite looking teeth with hollow eyes staring at them. "Or crush you to a pulp!"
"No one stands against the Abo and Cabo Savage Squad! At least, and not live past the first encounter!" A sneering twenty foot tall giant with dark red skin and long black hair with plasteel armor covering his burly torso down to his pelvic region, leaving the rest to be exposed scarred skin with the exception of form fitting boots and gloves. Red eyes and sharpened teeth bared as he pounded an open fist into his palm. "You ready to be sent to the next dimension?"
"Don't you mean Hell?" Tagoma queried.
"I KNOW WHAT I SAID!" The squads-man bellowed out.
"To think we'd die here," Shisami sneered with visible irritation.
"Don't give up now!" Sorbet urged, cowering behind a particularly large boulder. "My life...no, our army's lives depend on our survival!"
"It sounds more like you're more concerned about you," The twin-tail, blue skinned woman turned to glare over her shoulder. "Why don't you help?"
"My blaster has no affect on them! Do you want me to die?!"
"Sounds more appealing with every passing second-"
"Get a hold of yourself, Tobi!" Tagoma shouted back at his subordinate. "We can't let our guard down. Not even for a second!"
"It doesn't matter if you have your guard up, or not," A voice rang out behind the Savage Squad, much to the opposing side's chagrin. Two portly, imposing sized red and blue skinned warriors with Elite Freeza Army armor, along with a pair of Purple Lens Scouters were the infamous renegades Abo and Kado. While the first had chosen to speak, the second finished for him. "We'll crush you without mercy!"
Shisami snarled, leaping forward to land a devastating kick into the giant's abdomen. Hearing a deafening laugh, he tried to back up only for his to be grabbed and slammed into the earth. A large sole lifted up and smashed him into a bloody paste underneath his sole.
"Shisami!" Tagoma cried out.
"You should pay attention to your surroundings!" The raptor soldier screamed, leaping forward to cut him down.
At the last second he leaped to the right, only receiving a few shallow cuts. Firing a salvo of destructive blasts that he cut through, Tobi came in from the other side to grapple his head with her legs. Snapping his neck without hesitation, she was left open to the granite skinned fighter releasing a lava coated Ki beam that burned her to ashes.
"Tobi!" The lavender skinned soldier cried out.
The frog soldier tried to run, only to be fired at from the distant Abo. He exploded into gory burnt bits, leaving nothing of his remains behind. This only left Tagoma as he backed up, visibly apprehensive of his chances to fight the superior remaining enemies.
Then, a loud cough was heard above their heads. Looking up, they'd see a regally dressed pair of individuals floating above their heads. One was a tall-eared slender built purple skinned, yellow-eyed bipedal feline. The other was the most aloof looking cyan complexioned, white-haired individual in more gaudy garments than his colleague was.
Lowering his hand, the sentient cat looked down with a grated tone escaping his mouth, "You there, wouldn't happen to be the inhabitants of this planet?"
It was a baffling question, one that Tagoma and Sorbet had no idea to answer. How long were they there? Were they watching the whole fight occur? It was disturbing how none of their Scouters picked them up and had surprised them so easily.
"Ha! It's ours now!" Kado declared with a barking laugh.
"We had to teach the people and this Saiyan of theirs a lesson, but that scrawny weakling scurried away with one of our only ships left. But that was a long time ago. They're all dead!" Abo finished for his sibling's behalf.
"Saiyan? Now that's interesting," Beerus rubbed his chin, closing his eyes as he mulled over a foggy distant memory. "Yes...yes...I remember now. A...Super Saiyan...God!"
"Oh? That prophecy you kept mentioning for the past few months now?" Whis inquired skeptically.
"I'm sure of it! No wonder I've been agitated for the past billion galaxies we've went through. It was right on the edge of my tongue," He nodded with assurance.
"If you say so-"
"If you're done talking to yourselves, why don't you come down and kiss the ground we walk on," Kado intoned threateningly with a dark smile.
"Yeah, worship us!" Abo beat his chest with a alpha sense in himself.
The air got dangerously quiet. In a moment, Beerus had stopped smiling and turned his visage to look down at them. An eerie aura of violet began to burn like low embers across his purple skin. From the back of his throat he growled as he spoke, "Asking a God of Destruction to worship a mortal? That's blasphemy."
"BASTARD!" The giant of the Savage Squad jumped up, his behemoth arm cocked back. Swinging it towards Beerus with a destructive power coursing through the limb, the knuckles cracked the air like thunder, sending a shockwave that disheveled the land below them. Much to his surprise, his sweating appendage was caught by a raised pointer finger. "W-WHAT?!"
A swipe of the outstretched digit, and the entirety of the giant's body was torn to bloodied shreds. The ichor covered entrails rained down to the earth and the unsoiled destroyer looked down with a thin gaze aimed at them all. The stony fighter along with Tagoma were immediately terrified by the display of nonchalant execution.
"So-So fast!" The granite covered fighter shuddered aloud.
"He didn't even have time to react. Who is this monster?!" Sorbet queried with fear, Tagoma paralyzed on the field in front of him. By the time he materialized below, the stone skinned Savage Squad member made the mistake of reflexively punching towards the god. Without anyone able to see it, the stone had evaporated into a gust of ash that blew back into the wind. "HE WAS DISINTEGRATED!"
"You think the mighty Kado-"
"-And Abo-!"
"-Are afraid of you?!" The twins spoke together with angry snarls.
"Fear is a sign of reverence to a god," Beerus declared stonily, raising a hand towards them with visible preparation in order to execute them. "To not fear me is both stupidity and arrogance. Know your place before the Hakaishin, Lord Beerus!"
Powering up, the two flickered in front of each other and in a flash of light had become merged. Now a grotesque giant with bulging lips and protruding spikes from its darker purpler skin, the crimson aura ignited around it. With a haughty laugh, the being known as Aka formed a destructive sphere of Ki in between his palms, released it forth-
-and felt a sudden emptiness inside.
"W-What?!" Looking down, Aka saw a perfect circle was carved into his chest, as an invisible beam of light had lanced through him. Gargling on blood seconds later, he collapsed in front of Beerus who turned away, now sighing with annoyance.
"This world was ruined by aimless ambition and stupid pride," The Destroyer fumed.
"Will you be destroying this world now, Lord Beerus?"
"I think of it as more of renewal," Beerus replied to his faithful attendant, raising clenched up to unfold and release a tiny sparkling orb to fall towards the soil of the planet. "Before creation comes destruction!"
Sorbet felt his whole world vanish in a cacophony of spouting prisms of white light. He'd not be heard along with Tagoma as the whole of Tech-Tech was annihilated in a brilliant array of orange, red, gold, purple and pink. Flames of the most brilliant kind ebbed off into the vacuum of space.
And just as quickly as Beerus and Whis had arrived, they left, in an invisible charge of Faster Than Light travel.
"Well, that felt like a waste of time," Beerus muttered, his hand holding onto his teacher's shoulder.
"You did hear mention of a Saiyan on that planet. Perhaps a clue to the Super Saiyan God?" Whis mentioned with curiosity.
"If he was, he'd be pretty weak to lose to those two. Nothing was really special about them; even Freeza would find their power laughable," The Hakaishin remarked with a derisive snort. A brow arched, and he looked upwards with a dark smile spreading across his face. "Remind me to wipe out Freeza the next time we cross paths. I think he's gotten a little too comfortable with his station and he may get out of hand if I leave him be."
"Actually, you won't have to," Whis replied in a sing-song voice. "A Saiyan beat you to the punch already."
Sputtering out in a fit of surprise, Beerus gripped the collar of his mentor tightly and raised up a fist with indignation to shout, "AND YOU TELL ME THIS NOW?!"
"You never brought it up till now," He answered honestly. "Your memory isn't what it used to be, Lord Beerus."
"Tch," He leaned back, sneering with annoyance. "Well isn't that poetic. I told Freeza he should wipe out those Saiyans quickly and a Saiyan kills him. Do you mind showing me who?"
"Of course," Whis spoke aloud, jerking their travel to a halt and turning to address him in the middle of the void. Manifesting a staff in hand, he held up the wand and formed a floating picture devoid of sound but with complete definition. It'd be as if they were both there, witnessing the events themselves around in the emptiness of space.
"I don't remember them having yellow hair," Beerus mentioned, pointing at the blonde scalp that a fiercely fighting man had while beating Freeza into a pulp. "What is that form?"
"It's called Super Saiyan. It's a transformation only a handful of Saiyans at any given time can master and awaken. Thankfully, there are quite a few of them with such a form still around," He mentioned with an air of optimism.
"Do you know where they are?" The Hakaishin asked bluntly.
"One sec," Whis paused, defusing the projection and looking into the orb head of his staff. "Mhm, it seems most of them preside in one of the Northern Galaxies. 4032, on Green Planet 887, a world called Earth."
"Hmmm, Earth. Sounds vaguely familiar," Beerus tilted his head to the side, closing his eyes with concentration. "I think their primordial species were something called dinosaurs? Yes, I think I wiped them out when I was there."
"Well it looks like you missed a few from what I can see-"
"How many Saiyans are there?" He quickly changed subjects, not wanting to dwell on a half-done job he left uncompleted.
"It looks like from my count four hybrids and one pure blood," Whis answered with a smirk, that defused when he looked at those present. "Though, none of them are the ones who defeated Freeza."
"Well where is he?"
"One moment," Whis doubled down and tried to scour for him. When he didn't seemed to preside anywhere in that galaxy he spread his search beyond the Northern Galaxies. Then he looked beyond the mortal world and found something peculiar. "Oho, it seems that he's on the Sacred World of the Kaio."
"He's there? That sounds suspicious," Beerus rubbed his chin, musing with a furrowed brow. "What is a Saiyan doing on a Kaio world? Are they scheming something?"
"Might be worth investigating," Whis concurred.
"Yes, we'll head there first," The Hakaishin nodded with a smile of affirmation. "Then, we go to Earth, if I can't find my Super Saiyan God there."
"And if we don't?"
"WHIS!" Beerus growled out. "GET MOVING!"
"Fine-Fine," Whis tapped his staff on the vacuum and restarted their swift travel once Beerus took hold of his shoulder. Grinning cheekily, he warned him much to the destroyer's chagrin. "Just don't say I didn't warn you if you're wrong!~"
A/N: And finished with a new Chapter. Wow, that didn't take me long. Consider this a spurt of inspiration that couldn't go to waste.
As far as Chapters go, not a lot does happen. It's more like set-up for things to come. With a few changes here and there (taking out some needless dialogue and replacing with others) along with tying some loose ends with the Freeza Army and that one OVA some people kind of remember. Don't worry, Tarble's presence IS relevant to a degree. I planned this out to help set things in motion.
Other than that, I'm excited for what's to come in the next Chapter. More development! More drama! More Beerus being Beerus!
See you all in the next update of The Power of Two!
