It was all wrong.

After spending all of my life trapped behind doors and being ignored. I finally reconnected with my sister and even found someone who loved me.

So why was this happening?

"Your majesties, the monsters have destroyed another village."

"Are there no survivors?" Elsa asked and I could see how scared she was.

"No, there were none."

Elsa leaned back on her throne defeated. "Has any of the ships returned with reinforcements?"

The guard shook his head. "I do not believe they will make it in time if they did."

"I should have used those boats to send everyone away." Elsa said as she buried her face in her hands. I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"What are your orders?" The guard asked.

Elsa straightened up. "We still have many ships. Please, gather everyone in the city and get them out of Arendelle."

"You want us to abandon our home?"

"Yes, the kingdom is lost. Go to the west and ask for refuge there. I will stay behind and attempt to protect what is left with my powers."

"But your majesty."

"GO!" Elsa commanded. The guard bowed and ran to do as she instructed.

"I am staying with you." I said confidently.

"No Anna, you have to go, you have to lead our people in my place." Elsa stood up and grabbed my shoulders. "You are all Arendelle has left."

I looked at my sister tormented.

"They have broken through the barrier!" A man ran forward, and Elsa stood up.

"Take Anna and get out of here!" Elsa commanded. The guard nodded and grabbed my arm.

"Wait, Elsa!" I tried reaching out to my sister, but Elsa turned away. I was dragged out of the room. Once we were out, I knew I could not fight it. I started walking with the guard who was thankful I was cooperating with him. We passed by a window, and I looked out.

There was nothing but fire. Houses were burning as people scrambled to get to the ships. Guards everywhere were fighting monsters as they swarmed the city. After the monsters had attacked, we quickly found out that their weakness was fire, as well as simply being impaled or having their head chopped off.

The guard pulled me from the window, and we ran.

"We have a better chance if we go out the back!" The man shouted. I could only nod and do my best to keep up.

We burst through the kitchen door, I was thankful it was empty, that meant that the servants were on a ship getting out of here. At least I hopped that was what had happened to them.

We snuck out the back. The guard and I looked around. It was barren hear. We would need to walk farther to get to a ship, but at least we were not being swarmed by the monsters.

"Do you think we should ride horses out of the city instead of trying to reach a boat?" I asked the guard. He looked at me blankly before he started to nod.

"Yes, the ships will already have been full, we can ride east and get on a ship from there." The guard made a finally nod and grabbed my hand. "The stables are this way."

We crept silently to the stable. The city was being swarmed with the monsters, and even if we had not seen one yet, does not mean they had not come this way. I looked up and spotted the stables. I smiled in relief and moved to go forward but the guard suddenly pushed me down into the bushes. I feel flat onto my stomach as the man pinned me down. He then stood up and unsheathed his sword. It was then that I saw the broken door of the barn, and from that door, four monsters crawled out.

These monsters were horrendous. They feasted off of blood from any kind of living creature they could find. There want for the blood made them vicious and they did not seem to care if they were even dying to get to it. When it first started, a few had been captured and experiments were done, and we learned three things. First, they were not intelligent. The second was that if they did not get any blood, they would die in twenty-four hours. And the last was that even if they had a supply of blood, they would still die within a week.

I crouched down as low to the ground as I could go. I watched as the guard stepped forward. He was a trained soldier. He could take for of the monsters, right? I prayed for his victory and safety. And then I forced myself to look at the monsters.

No one wanted to say it, but I still had to face reality. These were not monsters they were my people. This was the family that took care of the royal horses. The wife and husband with there son and daughter. Their daughter, Fiona, would often give my horse cookies saying he was much too skinny, and her father had once stayed up late with a wild horse we had found who was scared of the barn when it was dark. Tears streamed down my eyes at what they had become. Their skin was so pale, and their eyes were red and bloodshot. They looked like they were gasping as they clawed at their throats. The moment they saw the guard they all charged forward.

The guard ran to the side away from where I was hidden. He slashed down at the reaching hands of the son and cut off one of his arms. Then he spun and made a stab at the wife, but she jumped to the side, and Fiona jumped onto his back and bit into his neck. The guard made a scream as he fell down and the family swarmed him. I covered my ears from his screams but forced myself to watch as the family bit down on him and drained him of his blood. As soon as the guard went limp the family got up and walked away. Hunting for more food.

I wanted to leave, but I knew I could not. I sat their watching the body of the guard.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I kept repeating under my breath. I did not even know what I was apologizing for. Maybe because if I had not been with him, maybe he could have gotten out, or perhaps the unfortune that he was a guard in the first place, or maybe that he had to be born in Arendelle and Elsa and I had failed to protect any of our citizens.

The guard's hand twitched, and I covered my mouth. He slowly stood up and I saw his face. Pale, drained of all his blood, with red bloodshot eyes. He looked around hungerly and I feared that he might have remembered that I was hiding in the bushes. After a few fearful seconds, he finally turned and ran towards the city that was still filled with screams.

I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding and got up. I looked in the barn to see if the horses were all right. They were completely fine. The vampires tended to only drink animal blood as a last resort. I went over to my horse and grabbed his saddle. Quickly I put his stuff on and lead him outside. I got up and quickly rode away.

As soon as I was far away enough that I could no longer hear the screams of my dying people, I slowed down. There was not going to be a boat that I could get on even if I went to the east. I knew there would not be. I turned around and faced Arendelle's direction. I could not abandon them, where would I even go.

Clenching my hands, I made my decision. I would figure out a way to save my kingdom. First, I will go to the trolls and find out if they knew anything, then I will go to Elsa's ice palace. Perhaps some off our people had gone there for protection.

I gently kicked my horse to go forward, and we sped off into the night.

Author's Notes:

Thanks for reading the second chapter! This was actually only going to be only two chapters long, but thankfully I thought of a story!

I hope this chapter was worth the wait, and I hope you look forward to the next one where Elsa will face off with her long-lost sister!
