He is the first person she had met after losing Grandeeney.

He is kind. He saw how tired and hungry she was after wandering around this large forest for days until the scent of freshly grilled meat led her to him. He gave her his dinner and let her eat all she wanted, even going so far as to hunt for more food when devouring his dinner wasn't enough.

Like her, he has dark blue hair. He has a tattoo on the right side of his face. He usually covers up his entire face with a green mask and dark blue bandanna. He believed her words when she said that she was raised by a dragon, not calling her a liar like those unkind people that she had unfortunately bumped into during her search for Grandeeney.

He told her that he isn't from Earthland, but from another parallel world faraway from here called Edolas. He told her that he can no longer go back home and he admitted that he doesn't want to go back home. He told her that his name now is Mystogan, implying that he had another name before becoming Mystogan. He told her that he doesn't really know what to do with his life now other than to roam Earthland with no clear goal in mind, like how she has no idea what she should do other than to wander around aimlessly in her search for Grandeeney.

She asked him if she could join him. He agreed, and it was the happiest day in her life ever since she woke up to find Grandeeney missing. He agreed to help find her dragon parent and for them to wander around this vast world together.

She's just so happy.

He brought her to the nearest town the next day, spending almost the entirety of whatever meager money he had earned from the odd jobs he had done to get her new sets of clean clothes because what she was wearing was quickly turning into rags. They started their adventure the next day, with him bringing her along to explore whatever the world has to offer.

It surprised her that he has no magic of his own, because he is such a capable mage in her eyes. His prowess lies in the magic staves that he uses. They absorb the dormant magic in the atmosphere around them to fuel the spells programmed in it, allowing him to fight as a mage even without the ability to wield magic. If all else fails he has this spell known as the Anima, a spell that can conjure a portal to suck the opponent's magic dry and fuel the depleting magic within his own staves. It is always fascinating to watch.

To her, he is always so strong, so kind, so dependable. Just like Grandeeney.

Despite not being born a mage, he is extremely knowledgeable about all forms of magic and magic tools. He taught her how to properly utilise her brand of magic that she had learnt from Grandeeney. She improved leaps and bounds under his tutelage, slowly gaining confidence that she never thought she would possess.

She's happy.

She's happy, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have her own fears. She used to have Grandeeney and every single moment spent with Grandeeney was a happy moment that she would never forget and would forever cherish, but she still left. Grandeeney still left and she doesn't understand why. Is she not good enough? She knows she has always been lacking when learning about the more offensive aspects of her magic but she is trying her best. Is she not good enough for Grandeeney? Was she too weak? Did Grandeeney get tired of her? Did she offend Grandeeney somehow?

She doesn't know. She's so afraid that she wouldn't get to see Grandeeney again and she doesn't want to think about it, but those thoughts would appear in her nightmares sometimes, reminding her from time to time that maybe she is nothing but another failure.

She dare not confide in him about her fears. She's afraid that if she didn't meet his expectations of her he would leave her alone just like Grandeeney did. She's afraid. She's afraid of being alone and abandoned so she tried her best in everything she does.

She does not want to be alone again. She does not want to go through the experience of being abandoned once more.

There was once when her nightmares got too vivid, too real, and she woke up screaming herself hoarse. Naturally, she woke him up as well. He was worried about her but no matter how he asked she kept mum about what is really troubling her. She doesn't want him to find her weak because he might leave her all alone if that were the case.

But she could not endure it and one day, she finally confessed what had been really eating at her ever since they first met.

"C-Can… Can I s-stay with you?" She sobbed uncontrollably, unable to hold her tears back any longer. "N-No matter h-how far y-you go, h-how l-long it takes, I w-will wait for y-you so d-don't g-go, o-okay? Don't leave me alone!"

She remembered his big arms wrapping around her and him pulling her close as she continued to bawl her eyes out.

"Sorry, Wendy, for not realising sooner that you are in pain. I promise, okay? I promise that no matter what I won't leave you so don't cry, alright? You look a lot prettier when you are smiling. I promise you that I will never leave you. It's a promise of a lifetime."

Her hug around him tightened as her tears continued to stain his shirt wet. He patted his hand on her back reassuringly, eventually coaxing her to sleep.

Her nightmares never returned after that night.

She had heard of the phrase, that time flies when you are having fun. She thinks it's true.

Their travels are fun. They travelled from east to west then from west to north and then from north to south. Basically anywhere they felt like going, they went. Without realising it, they had spent a year together. A year full of adventure, fun, and laughter.

He taught her what he thinks she should know and everything she wanted to learn. He is extremely knowledgeable in almost every single field and area of study. It probably has to do with the fact that he was once a prince. According to him, a prince has to study really hard to be a qualified prince.

They still didn't find any traces of Grandeeney, but they had their share of fun. She aided him in completing any odd jobs they found along the way and whenever they had earned some income he would spend that money on her first then him second. She is always his first priority but she cannot help but want him to be a little more selfish and focus on his well-being a little more.

He told her about the parallels between Edolas and Earthland, how there would be an Earthland counterpart of him here and that is why he hid his face whenever they were travelling together in public view. She asked him why he chose to go by the alias of Mystogan, he replied by saying that it felt right.

She is getting a lot better when it comes to controlling her magic. He is a good teacher, and it made her want to try and do better whenever he gave her that smile whenever she got things right on her first try after he taught it to her. He is always so strong, so dependable, like even if the sky were to fall it wouldn't matter because he will always be there to protect her. She doesn't want to be the one being protected all the time. She wants to be able to stand alongside him as his equal and protect him someday like how he had done for her ever since they first met. So, she trained hard. She pushed herself to meet each and every of his expectations so she can quickly become a respectable mage and Dragon Slayer.

All she wants is to catch up to him and be finally able to stand by his side. That is all.

Their journey is full of perils as well. He had told her time and time again that Fiore is not a safe place and to not trust people easily and she can see why. Dark guilds and bandits popped up from time to time to do them harm, be it to kidnap them for cult rituals or to rob them of their belongings. There were a few times that they had run into slavers as well but he will be there to beat them six feet into the dirt. She helped him whenever she could although he never really needed her help. He is just that strong.

Will she be as powerful as him someday? She sure hopes she can.

"Let's go, Wendy. I found another job."

"Really? What is it this time? Exploring an old ruin? Breaking curses? Taking down bandits? Or oh, oh! Maybe-"

"We are taking down a demon." He replied with a large grin as he began to cover his face with his green mask.

"D-D-Demon?!" She cannot help but squeak out loud, her face paling in fear.

"Yep. Fun, ain't it?"

"B-B-But it's a demon!"

"From what I was told the demon's a fairly young one. We will be fine." He waved her concerns off as he started to walk off with her quickly falling into step with him.

"I still don't think this is a good idea…"

She skipped alongside him nonetheless with a smile on her face. It doesn't matter if she will be facing down demons or monsters or dragons or even the gods themselves. All she wants is to be able to be with him, the person who saved her and pulled her out from her misery when she was at her lowest.

One day, she will be his strength, just like how he had always been hers ever since they first met.
