Kapitel 3: Der Sturm des Erwachens

It's now been 4 years since Izuku and Tomura became (almost) friends. During this time, Izuku trains his quirk to eventually unlock Tomura's hidden memory. In order to train his Quirk, he needed a voluntary to understand and improve his skills. However, since nobody likes to see someone look at their private memories, he couldn't find volunteers. Fortunately, his mother had agreed to support his son.

During his training, Izuku has found that when his Quirk is activated, he and the afflicted are in a world of memory. At first it looks like you are a ghost that has left your body as you see your lifeless bodies. But it's just the latest memory. Apparently the bodies are in a sleep state during the journey. In addition, time passes more slowly here than in reality, since you see the current one in slow motion. In this world, Izuku can turn back time to see the Volunteer's past memories without leaving the body.

However, the time difference and also the rewinding consumes energy. As a result, the bodies cannot carry out the usual sleep process. Consuming normal rewind, it's like a leisurely stroll and watching only weakens the sleep process, so when you're exhausted, all you need is a short break to quickly recharge your batteries. However, when you're there all night, waking up feels like you've had a bad night's sleep.

Through the 4 years of training, he was able to raise or lower the strengths and weaknesses very much. He can easily rewind years, the loss is like the normal range, ordinary watching does not disturb sleep, and watching for three days is just a moment in reality.

Tomura has been visiting Izuku more and more during this time. In the beginning there were always arguments, the reason was always something to do with heroes, villains or moral things, such as Bakugo. Tomura often wanted to teach the bullies a lesson, some of which were more deadly, but Izuku always decided against it because that's not what a hero does.

Eventually the quarrels became less and less, but not final, instead Tenko Izuku reads notebooks and sometimes even helps with them, or they play some video games together, or Tomura plays and Izuku watches. They became nerd friends.

However, the two had not yet had an overnight stay. The reason is with Tomura because of All for One. He said a villain shouldn't show anyone, especially heroes and their allies, where they're hiding unless they're criminal allies. Otherwise it could become a problem for the villain later. For Izuku, it's his all-might room. Inviting an All Might hater like Tomura into his All Might room is like lighting a match on a busted gas line.

That should change soon. Since Izuku got very far with his quirk, he finally wants to use it on Tomura and invites him to a sleepover. Tomura was skeptical at first, because Izuku had otherwise refused to show his room, but his master was able to convince him. All for One knew what Izuku was up to and therefore sent his student to him.

It's the day of the overnight stay. Tomura stands in front of the Midoriyas' apartment with his overnight backpack and rings the bell. 'I can't believe my master convinced me. Izuku must be up to something and my master probably knows what it is.' Inko opens the door and greets him. "Hello Tenko, ready for the first overnight stay." He doesn't say anything and just walks in.

He looks for Izuku and doesn't find him. "Where's Izuku?" Inko replies: "My son is in his room. He's still putting away the last of his stuff and should be out soon." He sits down on the table and gambles a bit on his console.

"Miss Midoriya, I've been here many times, but I haven't seen Izuku's father. Has something bad happened to him?" Tomura asked.

Inko replies: "Don't worry, my husband is still alive. He's just a very successful businessman and a millionaire at it. He always has a lot to do abroad, so he hardly has time for us. But we don't blame him. When he has time, he often comes to visit. He pays for everything here, too. He would even spend the last money on us."

Tomura is impressed, but wonders about one thing: "If you're so rich, why are you living in an apartment instead of a good house." Inko is not surprised at the question and says: "My lover asked that too. I just wanted a normal, quiet, humble life for me and Izuku. I also didn't want to be a burden to my husband." She then goes into the kitchen and prepares dinner.

Tomura even smiles at that answer. 'A normal humble life! My master let me do everything, especially bad things, and I could have whatever I wanted. I wasn't able to really enjoy life until I met Izuku. Aside from the hero stuff, I got on well with him.'

Izuku comes out of his room ready to clean up. He is happy to see Tomura at the table and sits down next to him. "Hi Tenko, you're already here." Tomura says: "You're finally done. While you cleaned your rooms, I talked to your mother. Why did you actually clean your room? Do you think I would throw a tantrum?" Izuku nervously and honestly replies, "Y-Yes! Because I own a lot of All Might items and I know you don't like him, so I put all the items away. You would have seen my mother when I did that. She thought I was sick because normally I would never do that."

Tomura then says in amazement: "You put away all your All Might articles for me? I know how excited you were talking about All Might and his articles. And yet you put everything away for me." Izuku replies with a smile: "My mother asked that too and you are right. I admire All Might and am such a huge fan that I really want to know everything about him and everything related to him. You can also call it obsession. But you're my first friend I've really been able to hang out with. You're already part of the family. I can have as many things as I want, but a special friend like you, there is only one. I would do anything for you, even completely forget about All Might, to have a good day with you."

With this speech he left Tenko completely speechless. Like his mother as she asked about it.

Inko will eventually finish dinner. All three sit down and have a leisurely but to quiet dinner. Tenko didn't say anything during the whole meal. When everyone is done, Izuku and Tenko go to their room while Inko washes the dishes.

When the two were in the room, they laid things out. There was a large futon in the room for sleeping. "You already got the futon ready for me. You are really nice" Tenko replies. Izuku replies, "For us! I can't sleep in a bed while you're on the floor." Tenko is still perplexed to answer this and so the two took turns going to the bathroom and are then ready to sleep.

When the two lay on the futon and the room went dark, Tenko finally woke up from his trance and then said: "The speech you made really surprised me. Nobody has ever done so much for me. Not even my master has done so much, although he has given or allowed me some things. I don't know how to answer that."

"You don't have to say. It was my choice and I would do it," Izuku replies, adding, "I'd like to hold your hand while you sleep, if you allow me." Tenko, who is no longer in a trance, finally realizes. "Why do you want to hold my hand… wait a minute! You're not going to use your quirk on me. I told you it can be very painful."

The green one feels caught and says: "Somehow yes. As I said before, I would do anything for you, either give up my idol or endure the worst pain, as long as I can help you and make you happy in return." Tenko, who is now sitting up excitedly, says: "Why do you want to go so far for me? Someone who hates All Might, the heroes and society." Izuku replies with a smile, "Because you are like a big brother to me. There can be differences between families, but we always stick together. No matter how bad or horrible you are, I will always stand by you."

With that said, Tomura looks away and says, "If you touch my hand, my quirk could activate and pulverize you. Besides, even if you can take the pain, it could freak me out and get out of control." "When I activate my Quirk we are both in a trance and Quirks would hardly activate during sleep. And even if it makes you run amok, I won't give up on you," Izuku replies. Tomura lies down, grabs his hand with three fingers and then says: "If you insist, we will do it. Remember, you wanted to do it." Happy, Izuku activates his quirk and the two enter the world of memory.

Tomura marvels at this place. Namely, he sees himself and Izuku sleeping together like a picture. Izuku explains that it is the memory now and that the reality is very, very slow. "Are you ready to crave your dark memories?" Tomura replies, "I'm ready!"

They travel so far back that they meet a little girl, two elderly people and a boy who is apparently kicked out by his father. The boy's mother shouts, "Stop Kotaro! You're hurting him." The father replies: "Then he should learn how to behave." Izuku is shocked while Tomura looks angry. "I can remember it. The little boy who's being kicked out is me, Tenko Shimura, and the man who's kicking me out is my father, Kotaro Shimura. Izuku, you have to know that my father is a successful businessman like yours, builds his own semi-detached house, where he also lets his foster parents move in with him and that there was only one rule that my father laid down: You weren't allowed to talk about heroes." They saw the little one shaking outside. Tomura was about to go into the house when something stopped him. "We can't go in because we can only go as far as the little one can perceive," says Izuku, adding, "There's nothing we can do here. It's just a memory." You keep looking at the memory.

You later see Tenko being treated by his mother. He's always itchy when he's in the house. The mother asks him, "Why do you want to be a hero, Tenko?" Tenko replies: "The other children have ruled out Mitsu and Tomo. I wanted to play with them and then we played heroes which was fun too. They wanted me to play All Might because I'm nice and I'll play with you even though they're ruled out. Why does my father want to ban this? Does he hate me?! Because I don't have a quirk?!" His mother then only said: "He doesn't hate you! He only knows how tough a hero can be."

" What the adults say is absolute. So I just wanted to hear one sentence from them." which Izuku immediately continues, "You can be a superhero. I understand why I seemed so familiar to you at the time. We're more alike than we thought. Now that you have your master, I guess something will happen soon."

They kept traveling until they saw the little girl. Tomura says it's his big sister, Hana-chan. "Tenko, because you like heroes, I want to show you something." They went to Kotaro's study. It shows an image of a heroine wearing a black outfit and a white robe hugging a little boy. "This is your grandmother. She was a hero. I will show you the photo because I'm on your side. We won't tell your dad anything and be sibling heroes together!"

"Wow, so your grandma was a heroine. When we're done here, can we please see her memory as well." Tomura is surprised and asks: "Is that possible?" to which Izuku replies, "Of course it that possible. I can see the memories of all your blood relatives, also your grandmother. However, only until your father's birth, after which we switch to his memory, but we can still learn about her afterwards by following your father's memory. I'm glad your sister is on your side." Tomura then says, "You shouldn't rejoice too soon. This is the beginning of the worst day of my life. And one thing you should know: little children are surprisingly cunning and primitive." Izuku is worried and keeps looking.

Later, when Tenko was playing with his dog in the garden, his father angrily stormed out of the house shouting, "KOTARO! You were in my study and saw the photo!" His sister yelled: "WAAAAAH! Tenko is to blame. Tenko really wanted to see it." Her father hits his son, yelling: "This woman is not your grandma. She's a monster who abandoned her own child! Listen, heroes are people who hurt their own families to help others!" hits on his son again and locks him out all night.

Izuku is horrified and Tomura says: "If you think that's bad, then wait a minute. The worst is yet to come!" whereupon Izuku freezes further.

Tenko keeps screaming and hugs his dog! He later witnesses his dog falling apart and Tenko is replaced! His sister came out and Tenko couldn't get a word out. "Sorry! I did not want to. I told you the secret. Sorry." Hana wanted to keep walking when she saw the remains of the dog, then screamed and ran back into the house. Not wanting to be alone, Tenko grabbed his sister and she fell apart as well. Then his mother and grandparents came out too and the floor crumbled up to them and then they fell apart. Kotaro came out later and looked at the whole thing in horror. Tenko sees him, the destruction continues. The father is able to hold on, but his son kills him with an insane expression on his face, and the entire property crumbles to dust.

Izuku can't believe the horrific sight he saw. "You see right, Izuku. I killed my entire family. When I think about it, I hated this family that always rejected me. My father, the source of my pain, have I with a lust for murder and an insane feeling, destroyed and the itching that accompanied my entire childhood is gone. Tenko Shimura died at that moment." Izuku, having seen all the horror and felt the words Tomura said, really fear him off. "How can you live with something so horrible that would really piss off even the kindest of people." says Izuku, really horrified, to which Tomura replies "you want to know. Then keep looking at the memory."

Tenko later walks through the city without a clue and couldn't say anything. People see the little boy, freeze briefly, some through his disfigured face, and ignore him, thinking a hero would take care of him.

"In such densely populated areas, problems often arise where there is no time for a lost child. Still, I wanted someone to shake my hand. I just wanted to be saved and later I met my master."

As Tenko sits under a rainy bridge, All for One comes up to him, gives his hand and tells him: "Nobody came to help you. Do you maybe want to come to me" whereupon Tenko shakes his hand.

Later they are in a room where All for One tells him: "This is your room today. I'm sorry if it's too small. I have a surprise for you: your family's hands." When Tenko sees the hands, he gets a terrible itch, destroys one of the hands and throws up. "The itching you feel is because of the irrepressible urge to destroy what you're trying to suppress."

Izuku asks Tomura without realizing who give hands with him, "You have your family's hands." to which he replies "Yes. You have to know, when I put my hands together I feel a strong anger, but at the same time it calms me down." Izuku doesn't say anything and keeps looking.

Tenko later stumbles upon two drunks who mob him. When he gets back to his room with All for One, he's shaking again, to which All for One replies, "What are you afraid of? If you suppress it, you'll only hurt yourself. Ethics, morality, conscience... Someone invented all of this to keep the earth turning properly. So what are you going to do?" Tenko replies, "I want to kill those who hit me earlier. These feelings are overflowing and I can't suppress them." He then says, smiling, "Then do what pleases you." whereupon Tenko goes to the drunks with his hands up and kills them.

"Well done! I have a gift for you: the hands of the drunks you killed and one as a bonus." Tenko take his hands and a little boy comes out with hands grabbing him. "Tomura Shigaraki is now born. Tomura stands for mourning. So mourn the dead and say goodbye. Shigaraki is my last name. You are my successor from now on." This ends the past.

Izuku is still trying to process everything. Tomura replies a little sadly: "You've seen my past. It's pretty horrific. If my family had accepted me, if someone else give my hand, I would have lived a normal, good life. But I became Tomura Shigaraki. A villain with an irrepressible urge to destroy and a great hatred for the heroes and the society they created. We should separate our lives now. You would hate me now because you want to help people and a villain would..."

He didn't get any further when Izuku walked up to him, hugged him and said, "Don't go! I don't want you to leave me. I told you you're like a big brother to me. No matter how bad your childhood was, no matter what crimes you have done or will do, no matter if your name is Tomura Shigaraki or Tenko Shimura, you are and always will be my big brother and I will never leave you alone."

This even makes Tomura cry, saying, "You're just way too nice. You would forgive anything. You would even make a better hero than All Might." Tomura calms down and now says, "Let's see my hero grandma's past."

Izuku then says, "Are you sure. Do you really want to see her past? I know you hate your family." Tomura then says: "You were willing to see my painful memories. Da also wants to do you a favor and since you like heroes." And so they make one last detour to the memories of the heroine Shimura.

They saw the exploits and name of the heroine Nana Shimura with her partner Gran Torino. They look ahead to the birth of Kotaro Shimura. You search his memories for more of Nana Shimura and find an interesting spot. It is the home of Nana Shimura. They see Nana come in with a blond teen who looks similar to All Might. "Toshinori Yagi, welcome to my home." Yagi enters and sees little Kotaro. "What a sweet little child." Nana then says: "This is my son Kotaro. shall we sit down"

The two sit down at the table! "So Toshinori, I want to make you an offer. You told me you want to become a symbol of peace because the people in this country can't find a footing. So a support to create a world where everyone can laugh. That's why you want to be a superhero even though you're a normalo. I find that so interesting and crazy, I want to give you One for All. It's a quirk that can be transferred. One nurtures and develops it, transfers it to the next, after which he nurtures and develops it further. It's a powerful quirk. There is a catch, however. If you embrace the power, one day you must face All for One. He is the most dangerous and powerful villain that terrorizes this land. Besides, if you want to become a symbol of peace, you won't be able to avoid it. That's also the reason I'm giving it to you, but it's your decision."

Toshinori doesn't hesitate and accepts. Nana pulls a hair out of her hair and gives it to him. "The transmission takes place in the DNA. It doesn't matter what you take, as long as it contains my DNA. However, the hair is the sensible and, above all, not the most disgusting method. And tell me, what's your hero's name supposed to be? How do you want people to look at you." Toshinori swallows the hair and thinks. Then, a few minutes later, he replies: "The symbol of peace shall be someone who gives hope to everyone who cannot be stopped and saves as many lives as one can. That's why I call myself All Might." Nana smiles and says: "Then this is the birth of All Might, the symbol of peace."

"I can't believe it," Izuku and Tomura say at the same time. Izuku then says with such glee that his eyes sparkle, "Your grandma was All Might's mentor. That's great. His divine power has always been a mystery and now we know it came from her. Now I'm a big fan of your grandmother." Tomura isn't that thrilled. "I'm glad you're happy, but have you forgotten that it was only because of her that my father hated me. She just left him alone."

Izuku is a bit sad now, but still happy. "I think Nana didn't mean to hurt his son. She had to do it. You heard me. Anyone who wears One for All has an obligation to defeat the great evil All for One. She wanted his son to be safe. That's why she gave up on him." Izuku is getting angry now. "All because of All for One. He should be your hate." Tomura now nervously says, "Um, Izuku..." but he didn't get any further. "You know! I promised to get your memory back, but now I'm going to develop your Quirk as well, so if he's still alive, you can put him in his place." Tomura gets even more nervous and quickly says, "Izuku, I have to say something." Izuku doesn't listen properly and keeps talking. "You do not have to worry. I've never done this before, but I know how to do it. I focus on the memories of your ancestors, now focus on your quirks and turn them into energy of information, hold them and then will release them into your body. This information will be processed by your body, which is easy to do when you are asleep, and so your quirk becomes a powerful quirk, if not the most powerful ever, as it also has the power of One for All."

As he said this, the memories now disappear, causing the place to become a black empty space. Many monitors appear in this room, containing the memories of Tomura's ancestors. Some now come out blue tubes that cross in a vessel. In these tubes flow energy with different energies, which accumulates in the vessel to a white. But it only happens to those whose ancestors had quirks. When the vessel is full, the tubes move into the vessel. Then the monitors disappear and Izuku now releases the energy into the dark room, causing the room to glow. When that happened around the time Izuku explained the process.

Although Tomura is amazed at the sight and the explanation, he is tense. Izuku notices and asks "What's up, Tenko! You now get a powerful power so you can get even with All for One who ruined your life."

"It's nice of you to do it for me. I'm even surprised that you, who can forgive anyone, would support an act of revenge. However, there is something you should know. All for One may be the cause of my unhappiness, but he is also my master who found me when I was miserable and raised me." Izuku shuts his mouth and freezes. "Even though he's one of the worst criminals, he's also the one who saved me and gave me a new life. He could be up to something with me, but I don't care either. He gave me a new home. He's like a father to me and without him we probably never would have met."

Izuku trembles at what he heard and what he just did. "T-That means I just gave you the power to kill your own M-Master. T-sorry. I didn't know that All for One is your master. Once the process has started, it cannot be undone. That means you will now live your whole life with this power."

When Izuku is finished, a bright vessel appears on the ground, which levitates up and then levitates in the middle. The light in space now gathers into the vessel, causing the vessel to evolve into a much larger and more powerful vessel that has pure white energy in it and then just floats in space.

"Now don't take it too hard on yourself," says Tomura calmly. "You didn't know it and what happens is what happens. Instead of beating yourself down, let's see what you're creating. If it really is that powerful, then I actually have to say thank you."

Relieved now, Izuku reaches out to the jar and now analyzes it. When he finished, Izuku froze at the Quirk's power. "Can you still call the owner of such a quirk a human. Your quirk stores all the energy in your body, strengthens its body and every effort you will ever make, your quirk will grow. He's also a mutant type. That means it is permanently bound to your body, has the same abilities as your brain and is distributed over the entire body. In other words, you never get tired, you can always get stronger and never weaken in the process even if you just laze about it and it gives you immortality as it keeps your body like brain alive and reassembles all vital organs should they be harmed. It can even transfer some of it to a human by touching the human and thus giving off some of its power. He doesn't become immortal but he becomes quite powerful and should the human die the part goes to the origin with all the experiences and memories the human has had. It has other hidden abilities, but I don't know what they mean."

Tomura is quite amazed now and says: "Wow, it would make me a god. It has also weaknesses. We know that every Quirk has a weakness somewhere, albeit a small one."

Izuku says, "Now that it also works as a perception, any unpleasant thing you perceive should also be amplified. You also can't numb or just tune out the pain as your energy will never run out. And your immortality has a limit, meaning if you get hit by someone with a certain Quirk, you could die as a result. But it would have to be quirks that have an impact on other quirks, such as those that could paralyze quirks. Although some have no effect on Mutant type, they can paralyze your immortality. One for All wielders can also kill you as this Quirk makes up the bulk of your Quirk and can damage you as well."

Tomura is concerned but says, "It means I have to watch out for certain people like All Might since he's a One for All user and I guess I have to pull myself together a lot because there are a lot of nasty things in the world. Otherwise, this Quirk is very powerful."

Tomura now says smiling: "You said I can split it up and give a part to someone else. I would like to give you a part of my power because you made this power possible for me in the first place. You want to be a superhero, don't you." Izuku is surprised and says, "You don't have to do that. I was happy to help you, and I don't have to be a superhero. I'm happy if I can help someone. But I would also be really happy if you gave me a part of your quirk, but only if you don't mind." Tomura doesn't mind and gives part of the Quirk to him now, as they're still connected.

As he passes on the Quirk Part, something happens to the room. Another vessel will now appear, which will merge with the Quirk and become a white energy aquarium. A green sphere is floating in this aquarium and a whiter sphere is lying on the bottom in the middle. Izuku is now doing an analysis with the aquarium. It's his quirk that has evolved. He now has a reinforced body like Tomura and can evolve them. However, he doesn't have infinite stamina, he just has the ability to recover faster. The green orb depicts the Attract and Repel ability and contains the memory of his mother, who his Quirk used to train with. Apparently, Izuku can now save other people's memories to learn new skills, and he can't forget anything either. With the new ability he can probably attract objects or push them away. But how exactly does he have to find out first?

Izuku explains his quirk to Tomura and he saying laughing as he does so: "That quirk fits perfectly with someone like you who analyzes everything and writes in his notebook."

The two disappear slowly now and Izuku realizes that they will wake up in a moment. It is tomorrow. The two wake up and get up immediately. As they stand up, Izuku looks at Tomura and is immediately surprised. His hair has turned black and all his wrinkles are gone. He even looks good. Apparently he went from being an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan overnight. This change was probably due to his evolved quirk and is so blatant that Izuku asks if he is still Tomura. Inko is also surprised when he sees him later.

Here ends the great adventure of the past. For the two, however, this is only the first of many other adventures. And most will put their brotherhood to the test.
