But here's the chapter! Enjoy! :)
"Tai?"
A bit startled, Tai lifted up his head from Sora's hospital bed and he faced his partner. "What's up, Agumon?" he asked grudgingly and yawned.
Agumon pointed out the infirmary doors and gave him a small smile. "Well, I just woke you up to tell you that they're serving breakfast."
A week had passed, and not much has changed. Kouichi was still upset about Amy, news about Sombras were still coming in and out the doors of the Celestial Castle and Sora was still in a coma.
Tai stretched out his arms and then let them drop. He then sighed and looked down at Sora's sleeping face. "I think I'll eat here again, buddy."
"But Tai," Agumon said to him. "You've been here for a week! Don't you want to go out?"
"I'm staying here." Tai answered and Agumon held his head.
"Well...I'll just bring your breakfast here, okay?"
Without looking at him, Tai nodded. "Thanks."
When Agumon left, Tai's hand slid across the bed sheets and tenderly picked up Sora's hand. He smiled softly and brought her hand up to his lips.
'She looks an angel.' He thought to himself.
Tai felt himself losing hope for Sora as each day had passed. He had spent the entire week inside the infirmary, not even once stepping outside the doors, for fear of Sora waking up and not finding him there.
Sora was still the same as always. Tai knew that she was alive and heard everything was going on, including the fact that Tai had never left her. But the brunette hoped she would wake up soon to tell her that the only reason he stayed was not because he was the group's leader and felt he had to stay with her. It was because of the way he really felt about her.
A hand was placed on Tai shoulder and gently squeezed. "How is she?"
Tai looked up and softly smiled when he was his best friend and his partner.
"I don't know, Matt. The docs said she hurt her head really bad. A TBI."
"And what's that?" asked Gotsumon.
Tai sighed before answering. "It stands for Traumatic Brain Injury. A severe TBI can do enough damage to knock you unconscious for a long period of time, leading to a coma."
"Yeah, Biyomon said that when they were falling, she might of hit a rock or something on the way down." Matt said.
All three boys stood/sat silently for a minute or two.
"How's Kouichi?" Tai asked at lest.
Matt scoffed half-heartingly. "Like you. Only worse. I mean, Sora's in a coma, that's bad enough, but he worrying his head off about Amy. Who knows what's going on with her?"
The doors whooshed open again and this time, Agumon stepped in with Tai's breakfast. He stopped walking when he noticed Matt and Gotsumon. "Oh, hello!"
"Hi Agumon." both Matt and Gotsumon said in union.
Tai gave his partner a smile of gratitude as he held out his hands for the dish. "Gee thanks, Agu-man. What would I do without you?"
Agumon gave him his food and shrugged. "Ehh, I don't know. Maybe die of hunger because you've never left this room." He said with a chuckle.
Matt stared at his friend, not believing what Agumon had said. "You've never left here?"
Tai ate in food in silence.
"Tai. Sora wouldn't want you being like this." Matt said, sitting on Sora's bed. "She would want you to go out, get some fresh air, not cooped up in here!"
"But I want to stay here." Tai said. "I want to be here when she wakes up. And I'm sorry, Matt, but nothing you said will make me leave this room."
The blonde sighed and shook his head. "Fine. But let me just say that staying here won't make her wake up soon."
On her bed, Mimi sighed and hugged her knees. "It's so...strange now."
Lili nodded. "Yeah, the atmosphere's really sad."
In the girls' bedroom, Lili, Mimi, Palmon, Yolei, and Hawkmon talked amongst themselves. (Everyone else was spread out amongst the castle.)
"Has any of you heard of any more news about the Sombras?" asked Yolei.
Palmon nodded. "I have. Now, there's Sombras all over the world."
Everyone gasped.
"Shouldn't we do anything about it?!" Yolei exclaimed.
Lili sat back on her wheelchair. "We do but right now, we're in no condition to be fighting. We're not mentally or emotionally stable."
Someone knocked on the door and after calling them in, Jp, Joe, Gomamon, Izzy, Tentomon, Davis, Veemon, Cody, Armadillomon, Ken and Wormmon entered the bedroom.
"Hey guys!" greeted Gomamon.
"Whatcha doing?" Davis asked as he sat on the floor.
Hawk shrugged. "Nothing much."
Sitting in Lili's bed, Jp looked around and saw some people missing. "Hey...where's Zoe, Biyomon, Kari and Gatomon?"
"Biyomon just left to the infirmary room to check up on Sora and Zoe's with Takuya." Mimi said. "I have no idea where Kari and Gatomon are."
"Maybe with Tk and Patamon." suggested Wormmon.
The room was silent as everyone tried to start a conversation. But for a few minutes, they all just sat there quietly.
"Awkward..." Tentomon muttered.
Izzy chuckled and placed his arm over his partner's hard shell. "Well, if it's awkward, why don't you start the conversation?"
Tentomon sighed. "I just wish Amy was here with us and Sora was okay and that we could just stop the Sombras, Katashimon and Bashidamon."
"I think we all wish that." Joe admitted.
A dozen of 'me too's followed afterward.
"We have to find a way of fighting without Amy or Sora." said Ken. "I mean we started with a little and we turned out just fine."
"Yeah, and plus Takuya's group have their powers so I guess they can help with that too." added Cody.
"But do you think it's easy for us?" Jp grumbled. "We've never fought without Ames and I'm pretty sure Kouichi wouldn't to. He'll be too depressed. Besides, Kouji can feel when his brother isn't well. When one feels down, they both do."
Lili nodded. "Kouji wouldn't be able to fight as well. Besides, I'm pretty sure Tai won't be able to lead us very well, since he's worried about Sora and it could be too much for Taki to handle by himself."
Everyone nodded, accepting the truth.
"Then I guesh...we just wait to shee what happensh." sighed Veemon.
On a balcony facing the back of the Celestial Castle, Stephanie, Kouji, Nova, Impmon and Calumon (who was asleep) were sitting silently on lounge chairs as Stephanie strummed on a guitar.
As she played, Nova leaned his head back and listened to the music. He smirked when he soon recognized it. "Is that another Linkin Park song?"
Stephanie looked up and nodded. "It's Final Masquerade." Looking over the railing, Stephanie spotted the huge garden that filled the back of the Celestial Castle. She smiled when she spotted Zoe and Takuya taking a stroll.
'Aww, how cute.' she thought to herself.
She continued to play and after a while broke the silence. "Kouji-kins, where's Kouichi?"
"Kouji-kins?" snorted Impmon with a smirk. "That's a cute nickname."
Kouji blushed and playfully punched the Digimon on his shoulder, careful not to wake the sleeping Calumon on his lap. "It's not my nickname."
"Yes it is..." Stephanie sang. "And you didn't answer my question."
"He's with Ophanimon." Kouji said and shrugged. "She wanted to talk to him."
Calumon shifted in his sleep and yawned. Stephanie put the guitar down and smiled down at him. "He's so cute when he's asleep."
The three boys looked down and smiled.
"I guess." sighed Kouji tiredly.
Stephanie looked at him a bit worried. "Are you okay?"
Kouji sighed. "I'm just tired. Kouichi's been really depressed."
Nova smiled. "It's a twin thing?"
Kouji chuckled. "Maybe. It's a pain in the ass though. I mean, I'm not saying that it in a bad way but feeling what your twin could be feeling has its perks and disadvantages."
Stephanie looked up to see someone behind Nova and she groaned. "Speak of the devil."
Nova turned and he groaned silently when Kari, Tk and their Digimon walked towards them.
Kari wasted no time in opening her mouth and telling Nova what she had been wanting to say. "Just cause your part of our group, doesn't mean we have to be nice to you."
Nova rose up an eyebrow. "Okay...I don't really expect that from you anymore."
Kari was about to say something else but was startled when suddenly Calumon flew up to her face.
"Why don't you just leave Nova alone?!" shouted Calumon, his face scrunched up in confusion and sadness. "He's done nothing but except help our fight our battles! He's a good person and so is Impmon! I don't care if they have the Crest of Darkness but I think they proved that they are more than what their Crest might be. And if you don't see that then...then...you're all stupid!"
Everyone was shocked at the outburst of the Catalyst but it must of had some sort of an effect, because Kari backed up and without a single word, her group left.
Stephanie looked at Calumon with approval. "Wow, Calu."
Calumon blushed and landed on Kouji's shoulder. "I didn't mean to say it that mean."
"Well, there was no other way." Kouji told him. "Besides, you made them shut up."
Nova gave Calumon a smile. "Thank you, Calumon."
Calumon shrugged. "It was nothing."
A blushing Zoe followed Takuya as he led her to the garden in the back of the Celestial Castle. She had looked up once and noticed Stephanie, Kouji, Nova and Impmon above her in a balcony.
"We're almost there." Takuya said suddenly.
Zoe smiled and nodded. "Oh yeah, sure!"
As Takuya led Zoe to a place he discovered a few days ago, he smiled at he saw the numerous types of flowers. Before he knew it, he began to say their names out loud. "White rose, oriental lily, iris, violet, tulip, jasmine, daisy, marigold, sunflower-"
"How do you know so many names?" asked Zoe in bewilderment.
'Oh shit, I forgot she was here.' He thought then blushed. 'Well, of course she's here, you led her here!'
"W-Well, back in our world, during the summer, my mom would sometimes make me work a few days with my aunt, who ran a flower shop downtown. And I guess the names just stuck." he explained. His eyes then spotted what he was looking for. "We're here." He reached back, grabbing Zoe's arm and took her to a stone bench with a small pond in front.
They at down and Zoe waited until Takuya started to talk.
"So um, how are you doing?" 'Nice start, Takuya.'
Zoe smiled and looked around. "I'm doing okay, I guess."
Takuya fiddled with his thumbs and Zoe started to play with her hair as they say in silence.
"So um...what did you want to tell me?" Zoe asked after a few awkward minutes.
Takuya closed his eyes and took a deep breath. 'Really Taki? You're not this nervous before a soccer game at the finals!'
"Look Zoey...I'm just going straight to the point here."
"Okay? Go ahead, I'm listening."
"I know that you like me."
'Wait, what?!' Zoe's eyes widened. "I-I can explain-"
Takuya smiled. "No, it's okay! I like you too."
Zoe froze and she processed what he just said. "W-Wait, did I hear you right?"
Takuya nodded. "Yep. I like you, you like me. But here's why I brought you here...I...don't think it can work out."
Whatever happy feeling Zoe had in that moment vanished as the blonde looked at Takuya with disbelief. "What? W-Why?"
"Look, I'm afraid that if we do end up together, either the Sombras are gonna get you to mess with me or something worse.":
Zoe stood and faced her back to him so he wouldn't see the tears already spilling. "So...you're saying that you don't want to be together? Because I believe that you just told me that you liked me and that I liked you...How long do you think I've been liking you?"
Takuya sat silently as he tried to think about it. "I don't know...last year?"
Zoe turned and let Takuya get a good look at her tears. "WRONG. I've been liking you ever since the first time we've been at the Digital World. And everyone knew about it! Amy, Kouichi, Kouji, Jp, Tommy...heck, even Lili and Stephanie knows! I've been waiting forever for you to finally notice me and now that you do, you're saying that you don't want to be with me?!"
"I'm not saying that I don't want to be with you!" Takuya said and stood up, placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm saying that we should wait until this is all over."
"And how do you know that this will be over, Takuya? We're not sable enough to fight." Zoe shook his hands away from her and walked away, not before telling him one last thing. "I don't have the prettiest face for you to see or the tiniest waist for you to hold. But I do have the biggest heart to love you with."
Takuya sighed as he watched Zoe stalk off. "Zoey! Come on, don't be like that!" And when she didn't, groaned. "Nice job, Takuya. Now she hates you."
Meanwhile, Kouichi was in the front of the castle, sitting on the front steps. He leaned back on the steps and watched the scenery in front of him, a simple meadow with tall grass dancing the in wind.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
Kouichi jumped at the sudden speaking and looked up to see Lady Ophanimon sitting down next to him. "Ophanimon! I didn't see you there."
Ophanimon smiled and placed an arm around his shoulders. "I know you're out here thinking about my daughter."
Kouichi blushed and shrugged. "Maybe I am."
"She's alive, you know that, right?"
Kouichi smiled. "Really?! How do you know that?"
Ophanimon chuckled. "Let's just say that mothers have a special power to know if their children are okay."
"Ophanimon, I promise I'll bring her back."
"I know you will. I-"
Kouichi stopped talking and stood up when he sensed something wrong. "Something's not right."
Ophanimon frowned and she flew up a bit in the air to see what he was sensing. She gasped at what she saw. "Kouichi! It's an army of Sombras!"
'And I bet Katashimon's leading them.' growled Kouichi. He took out his D-Tector. "EXECUTE! BEAST SPIRIT EVOLUTION! JagerLoweemon."
"Ophanimon, get inside and warn the others!" JagerLoweemon ordered and Ophanimon obeyed.
JagerLoweemon stood his ground and after a few seconds, MeiRenyumon, Lobomon, Nova and Devimon arrived.
"When will they stop?!" shouted MeiRenyumon as she got her swords ready.
"Tai!"
Tai looked up and saw Matt, Biyomon and Gotsumon run inside the infirmary.
"There're attacking!" shouted Matt.
"Who is?"
"The Sombras and Katashimon's leading them!" Biyomon cried out.
Tai shut his eyes and took a deep breath. He had to go fight, but he didn't want to leave Sora. Then again, it was because of the Sombras and Katashimon Sora was like this and Amy is gone.
"Agumon."
His partner looked up hopefully. "Yes, Tai?"
"Let's go kick some ass."
