Soon enough the rest of the crew was confined with the Dominion ships taking the Enterprise to the nearest starbase in Dominion territory.

All except for one.

The turbo-lift doors opened and Scotty was escorted onto the bridge to which he scowled at the sight of Weyoun sitting in the Captain's chair.

"Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott." The Vorta stated cordially as he turned to face the new arrival. "I have read up on your achievements as an engineer in Starfleet. Most impressive."

Scotty remained silent.

"I believe that out of everyone else on this ship, you would be the man to talk to about adapting a hyperdrive for Dominion use." Weyoun stood up from the chair and approached the engineer. "Volunteering to help us would go a long way to making things easier for you and the rest of the crew."

"Aye, it probably would." Scotty slowly nodded. "But if you think I would actually do that and betray my oath to Starfleet, I think you have something up those ears of yours."

Weyoun let out a 'tsk' sound. "I find it amusing that humans resort to bad comedy when someone tries to reason with them. I offer you the chance to not only help your captain and crew but I offer something else."

Scotty raised an eyebrow.

"A chance to work for the Dominion and be offered the chance to study new technologies you have only ever dreamed off." Weyoun continued as he looked at the view-screen. "Your Federation has come a long way but the Dominion has stood for thousands of years. You cannot imagine the technologies we have created in that time. Well, actually I think you can imagine given that we managed to take your ship."

Scotty seemed to have a thoughtful look on his face now. "It was a wee bit surprising."

"Imagine what you else you would be allowed to study by working under us. The Founders rewards those who help them, Mr. Scott." Weyoun faced the engineer. "Once the Dominion has the hyperdrive we will spread across the galaxy. Cooperation with us can convince the Founders to spare your Federation and its worlds…provided they cooperate which I know that the Federation prides itself on being."

"Aye, we like cooperation." Scotty nodded. "But there is a problem."

"Which is?" Weyoun raised an eyebrow.

"I can tell even with a glance that our technologies are different even if they are similar on a fundamental level. It would take a long time to figure out how to adapt your engines to have one even if you managed to find out how." Scotty stated.

"Then perhaps we just need someone with a little expertise on the subject." Weyoun suggested.

The Jem'Hadar moved up behind Scotty and he quickly got the memo. "Aye, an expert would come in handy."

"So then, do you agree to help us and spare your crew?" Weyoun asked.

This was the moment of truth.

Scotty looked around the bridge for a second before looking back at Weyoun. "There would be a few things I would need."

"Name them." Weyoun simply said.

"First, I would need to get a good look at the layout of your ship. Not directly and in any way compromises security, mind you." Scotty said quickly. "Recreating the hyperdrive formula and adapting to your engines means I would need to perhaps do a little tinkering with the formula itself so you wouldn't say…emerge right in the middle of a black hole."

Weyoun smirked. "Under strict supervision of course."

"Of course." Scotty nodded. "My tricorder and a little wee machine that we have in sickbay. A new kind of machine to help in repairs called an astromech droid. They are handy for maintenance and navigation."

Weyoun knew Scotty was likely trying to get onboard one of their ships so he could perform some sort of sabotage.

A desperate but cunning maneuver.

Still, Weyoun could make a bit of sport out of this by seeing what might come of it and see just what the engineer is planning. "Very well."

He looked to the Jem'Hadar. "See to it that Mr. Scott has everything he needs."

The Jem'Hadar nodded before leading Scotty back to the turbo-lift.

"It will be interesting to work with you, Mr. Scott." Weyoun said as he returned to the captain's chair.

"Aye." Scotty said as he stepped into the turbo-lift. "I am sure it will be."
