I do not own anything you recognize.

The Aurora rapped quickly in two swift beats before he heard shuffling. A tall man in his late seventies answered the door with a sneer on his face and a strong stench of whiskey billowing out after him.

" Can I help you?" he said in a voice that belied help at all cost.

" Tobias Snape?" asked the Aurora.

" I am." Tobias nodded.

" I am Aurora Kents, and I'm here looking for your son."

" Severus," the man practically spat the name, " what's that lazy lout gotten himself into now?"

" He's wanted for murder by the Ministry of Magic." spoke the Aurora calmly.

" Ha, doesn't surprise me. He always seemed like the type." He shook his head, " Glad I got rid of him, kicked him out for he had any chance of bringing any disgrace to my name, unlike his filthy mother did, mind you had I known what she was when I met her I'd washed my hands clean of her."

Kents raised his eyebrows, " You haven't had contact with him then?"

Tobias scoffed, " No, and if he knows what's good for him he'll keep his miserable hide away from me."

" I understand, sir, but perhaps you'd let me have a quick look around. Snape is a dangerous man and a powerful wizard, he could be lurking nearby." The Aurora said quietly.

Tobias' eyes widened looking around quickly as if his estranged son would step out from the shadows, the broken streetlamps made on the dirty streets of Spinner's End.

" You think he's after me?"

" Better to be cautious."

" I always knew, he'd be more trouble than he's worth."

Tobias stepped back to let the Aurora in. Kents strode through the small library and into a kitchen, before stopping back in the library of the tiny house. " Might I check up stairs?"

Snape nodded and went to the door on the far wall to push bookshelf out of the way to reveal a staircase. Kents quickly ascended the stairs making loud noises above, before coming down the steps two at a time.

" I thank you for your patience, Mr. Snape. I'm sorry to have bothered you at all, but the Ministry felt the need to check with you all the same. Here is my contact information, should your son contact you at all, please, do not hesitate to get in touch with me." Kents nodded to Tobias before stepping out the front door and making his way down the dingy streets.

Tobias watched him leave with strange gleam in his eye.

" He's gone." He said seemingly to nobody, until a shadow crossed across the floor.

Severus Snape stepped out from behind a bookshelf.

" More trouble than he's worth?" he whispered a smirk playing about his lips.

Tobias turned quickly, before doubling over with laughter.

"I'm sorry, Severus." He said before wiping his eyes with the back of his hand. A hand that was starting to shimmer and shrink. In fact, all of Tobias Snape was shrinking, his long lean body was curving into a petite figure, black lanky hair curling into a brown bushy mane. Even his hooked nose was rapidly

diminishing into a small button one.

" Thank you, Hermione." said Severus silkily before coming to stand next to her.

Hermione shook her head before saying, " Now, lets get to work on defeating the Dark Lord, and sending Albus' pensive to the Ministry."

THE END.
