Hired
The people who now occupied Dromuund Kaas looked up at the dark skies to watch multiple ships fly overhead and land in the spaceport hangars. The most recognisable ones consisted of the Slave One and the Sleight of Hand; both of which belonged to infamous Bounty Hunters. The Sith Empress was already awaiting their arrival in the hangar and as the loading ramps dropped open several members of the Crimson Nova Guild walked towards her. Boba Fett, Aurra Sing, Cad Bane, Cato Parasitti, Bossk and Dengar were the ones standing in front of her right now, but more would surely be arriving shortly.
"You must be Empress Solak," Fett greeted and was about to introduce himself and his friends when Jaira interrupted him promptly.
"I already know who you all are," Jaira stated firmly, "Straight to business shall we?" she asked as she started to walk away from the group.
Jaira climbed into her land speeder with the Bounty Hunters joining her and the driver started the short journey from the spaceport to the Citadel.
"Welcome to Dromuund Kaas," Jaira welcomed lightly as the Bounty Hunters looked around in awe as slaves were reconstructing statues and buildings.
"So, the rumours about this place are true?" Bane inquired curiously as he chewed on his toothpick.
"Many rumours in the Galaxy have some level of truth to them, even ones as old as the those about Dromuund Kaas and Korriban, the homeworlds of the Sith Lords of Old," Jaira confirmed his question.
In a matter of moments, they had arrived at the Citadel and Jaira lead the Bounty Hunters into the audience hall where the long table was set up and two slaves were waiting to serve them anything they requested.
"Please take a seat," Jaira requested and her guests obliged.
"Is it also true that you have managed to capture and enslave a quarter of the Jedi Order population?" Bane inquired almost sceptically.
"I have done just that," Jaira confirmed.
Cad Bane scoffed, "I'm sorry but it's extremely hard for me to believe you. After all, I've made my life about trapping and killing Jedi."
Jaira looked at the Bounty Hunter with a blank but ferocious look that should have made anyone's skin crawl but not Cad Bane. The Duros just looked back at her from under the brim of his hat almost asking for her to challenge him.
"Tarkin!" Jaira called and the Admiral entered the hall with two Zygerrian slavers who were dragging a man. They threw him to the ground and the Bounty Hunters took a better look at him to find some things that sent alarms off in their minds. The man was heavily bruised and injured with cuffs on his wrists of a kind none of them had seen before. He was wearing tattered clothes that clearly resembled the robes of a Jedi Knight and in Admiral Tarkin's hands a lightsaber hilt.
"Is this enough proof for you Cad Bane?" Jaira inquired, "Don't presume it's a trick to deceive you all because it's not, this man is Jedi Master Jetsae Karti or should I say was."
The Jedi Master looked up at her through his fringe with eyes empty of any emotion as if to challenge the Sith Empress but Jaira turned away and ignored the Jedi.
"May we ask how you have managed to capture and contain him?" Cato Parasitti asked curiously and with a certain level of excitement.
"With these droids, the X5-S9s are of my own design," Jaira explained simply as one of these droids entered through the main doors, "They are programmed to solely attack a Jedi on the battlefield, they are even able to discern between a Jedi and a Sith. You see the crystals that are used in the lightsaber of Jedi is a naturally occurring crystal that these droids are programmed to detect. However, the crystals used in lightsabers owned by Sith are synthetic which means the droids ignore them. They have two weapons, a stun and normal blaster, so far only the Stun blasters have been used in battle."
The Bounty Hunters listened intently to her with a highly intrigued interest in what she planned to do with the Galaxy and the Jedi Order.
"How successful have you been exactly with breaking the Jedi whom you have already captured?" Fett inquired curiously.
"I use the Jedi's compassion against them, in my slave facility run by the Zygerrian Slaving Guild they are being processed. When one Jedi makes a mistake the person next to them gets the punishment, this could be their friend, Master or Padawan. All of the Jedi are connected to each other in some way, shape or form," Jaira explained the slave processing process, "It has shown immensely good results but it will take a while longer before any of the Jedi are fully broken to my will," she revealed.
"So, what do you want to hire us for?" Aurra Sing inquired sounding almost bored.
"Enslaving the Jedi Order is not my only plan for the Galactic Republic, I also want control of the entire Galaxy but to do that I need people to help me control the planets and the people," Jaira said, "I have already taken control of almost two dozen planets and I also have a Bounty list which needs to be diminished. If you're interested."
The hall was silent for a few moments and then the answer came, "Very interested," Fett responded.
"Very well then, Admiral please take this thing out of here and the droid is dismissed," Jaira ordered before taking her seat again to start drawing up a deal with her newest recruits, "Refreshments," she ordered the two slaves who obeyed immediately.
A few hours later, the Bounty Hunters left with their first of soon to be many payment instalments to go do their assigned jobs. As they exited the Citadel a man entered behind them immediately and approached the Empress's throne.
"Geoff Kallus, what are you doing here?" Jaira spat.
"Admiral Tarkin contacted me on your behalf, he said that you wanted to start up a Naval Academy and Secret Intelligence Service. The Admiral informed me that you needed someone to head it," Geoff announced why he was in the audience hall.
Jaira's nostrils flared as the man continued to approach her seemingly unaware of how close she was to Force Choking him to death right where he stood.
"You need to put what happened in the past behind you. You are not your father and whatever happened between him and myself stays there," Geoff stated calmly, "Don't make the same mistakes he made."
"Why should I trust you? Give me one good reason," Jaira demanded dangerously as she approached him with a dark look of disgust in her eyes.
"As you are aware I am from a neutral planet that has not sided with the Republic since before the Clone Wars. My people and I would serve you loyally and you could use Lothal as the base for your Naval Academy and SIS quarters," Geoff offered.
"Except for the fact that you haven't been on your homeworld for a very long time, spending all your time sucking up to Republic Senators and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine who was a disgrace to all the Sith of the past, present and future," Jaira reminded him, "Your own son wasn't even born on Lothal," she added, surprising the old man causing Jaira to smirk.
"Yes, I know about him. So, your Sith Emperor didn't achieve his plans which had you crawling back to my father and now me," Jaira accused him of being a traitor and then she turned away from him.
"I could have told Palpatine about your father and you, but I didn't," Geoff pointed out causing Jaira to stop and turn back around slowly.
"Are you trying to make me think that I owe you?" Jaira growled.
"No, but it would foolish to refuse my assistance," Geoff stated simply.
"Okay then, I will let you join me but one slip up from you or your son and you're both dead," Jaira threatened.
"Very well my lord, I will get to work immediately," Geoff said as he bowed and walked out of the hall.
"My lord-," Tarkin started to say but stopped upon seeing the glare that Jaira was giving him.
"Never contact anyone ever again without my authorisation," Jaira threatened as her eyes blazed red and yellow.
"Yes, my lord," Tarkin apologised and then left the hall to avoid anything bad happening.
A/N: I hope the Jedi Master's name looked or sounded familiar. If you guessed right, yes it is Kai's previous Master and yes he is very much alive.
