Hello Ranger Nation!

I'm a bit later than I meant to be with this chapter, but real life kept getting in the way. Oh well. At least it's out now, right?

I wanted to thank everyone who's been reading and especially those who have been reviewing. It seems like this series is a bit more popular than Olympian Force, at least from what I can tell. Not surprising, as I feel this series is being written a bit better.

Anyway, that's enough out of me. Enjoy the chapter!

Legend 3: Big Snake on Campus

Legend tells of a loyal and humble knight named Gawain. Arthur's nephew by blood, Gawain was known as a Maiden's Knight, as he was always rescuing women from the dangers that befell them. However, he is most known for his quest against the Green Knight, where he was taught the lesson of honoring one's word. While he was loyal, he was so to an extreme degree, leading to some arguments with other knights. This drove him away from Camelot before its demise. What occurred next is lost to time…

"Tell me something, Liecanthrope," Morgana asked as she watched the energy screen showing Arthur and Lance destroy Guardgoyle. "Why is the number of Rangers increasing instead of decreasing like you promised it would? Where there was once one Power Ranger, I now see two!"

"Well…" Liecanthrope said. "While it did not go as I planned-"

Whipvern let out a laugh.

"That's a major understatement!" she interrupted. "You just made the Ranger problem twice as hard to deal with!"

"And you think you could do better?" Liecanthrope asked.

"I absolutely could!" Whipvern said as her nostrils flared. She then looked to Morgana. "Please, my queen. Let me prove it to you!"

"Do you actually have a plan or are you just hoping the Rangers will roll over and die?" Liecanthrope asked.

"I may not have a plan, but I don't need one," Whipvern replied. "I'll just pound these two Knights into the pavement, like I ought to do to you!"

She started to march towards Liecanthrope when Morgana launched a rune between them. Suddenly, the two were pushed away from one another by a supernatural force.

"Enough!" Morgana shouted. "We cannot afford to turn on one another! My sisters still need to be freed and we need Fae Energy. The Rangers can wait. Tell me how you plan to get Fae Energy!"

"I do actually have an idea," Liecanthrope said. "If I may…"

"You may," Morgana replied.

"I have found that the Caves the Fae Crystals reside within are part of a larger network of caves," Liecanthrope said. "I have found an offshoot of these caves close to a college campus a few miles away from Avalon Hollow. If we travel through that cave, we should be able to sneak up on the Rangers and Merlin and swipe the crystals."

"I like this plan," Morgana said. "Go to this college campus and create a Fae Beast. There should be plenty of overbearing and overemotional humans there to form a contract with. Then return to me."

"It shall be done, my queen," Liecanthrope said as he bowed. Black runes appeared around him before creating an energy field he disappeared into.

"Arrogant little…" Whipvern growled as she stomped off.

"Please wait, my sisters," Morgana said as she stood up and walked around her throne to the tree with the carvings. She ran a hand down the carvings. "I shall free you soon. Then nothing will stand in my way. Not Arthur and certainly not any new knights he recruits…"

"We've been waiting three days," Lance said as he paced the length of the main room of the Crystal Caves. "And we still haven't recruited this new Knight. Why is that?"

"You have already forgotten my words, Lance?" Merlin said as he glanced over at the Blue Ranger. "I told you that we would recruit him when the time is right. And the time is still not right."

Lance let out a sigh.

"Be patient, Sir Lance," Arthur said as he put a hand on his students shoulder. "I have found that some problems are best left for the sands of time to erode."

"Fine," Lance said. "Can we at least train some more, Arthur? I think I'm slowly picking up your technique."

"I suppose," Arthur said as he put out his hand and summoned his Legend Blade. "Though we shall not practice for long. Rest is just as important as training when it comes to honing one's skill."

Lance was about to do the same when Merlin gasped and clutched his head.

"Merlin!" Arthur shouted as the Legend Blade disappeared from his hand and he rushed over to the wizard's side. "What ails you, my friend?"

"A new Fae Beast has been created," Merlin answered.

"How do you know?" Lance asked.

"I have gained a connection to Fae Energy much deeper than most humans," Merlin said. "It has granted me the ability to feel its misuse. In other words, I can sense when a Fae Beast has been created."

"Where is it?" Arthur asked.

"St. David's College," Merlin replied. "Our potential recruit actually attends."

"That's not too far from here," Lance said. "It's just in the next town over from Avalon Hollow."

"We will ride there at once," Arthur said as he walked towards the exit.

"Wait," Merlin said as he pulled something from his robe. "Two things. The first is that you should take these. Our potential recruit might show himself." He offered them out to Arthur, who accepted them. They were a green Legendizer in the shape of a Gargoyle's head with orange swoop-shaped eyes, as well as a Shield Emblem. Merlin then pointed to the other exit. "The second is that there is a cave exit that will lead you to St. David's College. You will find it a much quicker route. Good luck."

"Thank you, my friend," Arthur said as he and Lance ran to the other exit.

As the two exited the main room, Ruby leapt up onto the table. She gave a cry.

"What?" Merlin asked. "My explanation was sufficient enough. They didn't need any more information than that."

The carbuncle gave another cry.

"They'll be fine," Merlin replied. "If anything, I think you're worrying too much. The Rangers will be just fine, especially once their numbers increase once more."

"And that'll do it for this week," the professor said as she closed her book. "Don't forget we'll be reading chapters 2-4 for next Tuesday's class. See you then."

Wayne put his laptop in his backpack and pulled out some headphones. He was about to put them on when he heard the Professor call his name.

"Mr. Pierce!" the Professor said as the students filed out. "A word, if I may?"

"Sure," Wayne said as he walked over. "Is everything ok?"

"I'm just a bit worried about your engagement in this class," the Professor said. "You don't seem to really like the subject matter. May I ask what got you to choose an Anthropology class like this if you have no interest in history?"

"Honestly?" Wayne said. "I kind of just picked it."

"You…just picked it?" the Professor repeated.

"I'm not quite sure what I want to do with my life yet," Wayne said. "So I'm trying a bit of everything. I'm really hoping something is just going to click."

"I see," the Professor said. "So I take it you're still undeclared?"

"For as long as I can be," Wayne said with a nod.

"Well, I can definitely say that Anthropology isn't for you if you don't have a passion for it," the Professor said. "In fact, most fields are like that. Figure out your passions and you'll find the right one for you."

"Thank you," Wayne said. "I'll take that under consideration."

"That's all I ask," the Professor said. "See you next Tuesday."

"Bye," Wayne said as he slipped on his headphones and walked out. He bopped his head along with the music, even if he couldn't understand the Japanese the artist was singing. He was so distracted by the music, in fact, that he missed the people running as he stepped outside the building. As he pulled the right earpiece off his ear for a moment, he finally heard the screaming.

"What's going on?" he asked as he craned his neck to try and look over the fleeing students. He then noticed a young woman stumble and fall trying to get away. A group of students were rushing towards her, more concerned with the monster than where they were going. "She's going to get trampled!"

Wayne threw off his backpack as he ran over to the woman. He pulled her out of the way just as the group of students rushed past.

"Whew," Wayne said with a sigh of relief before looking at the young woman. "You alright?"

"Get your hands off of me, weirdo!" the young woman shouted as she wiggled out of his grasp before knocking him to the ground. She quickly got up and ran in the direction that the other students had been running towards.

"You're welcome for saving your life!" Wayne shouted after her as he stood up. "Jeez, no one's grateful for a heroic act anymore. Now what's everyone running from?"

He got up and ran towards the sounds of screaming. What he saw was…

"A snake monster?" he asked. Indeed, the monster was very snakelike. Although it had limbs, it still looked rather serpentine in design, having an almost curve to its body. It had large red eyes that it was firing beams of some kind from. Its victims were around its feet, not moving but with no visible damage on them.

"I don't need to worry about eye contact again!" the snake monster shouted. "Basilisking is supreme!" He turned around to see Wayne staring at him in shock. "What are you looking at? Because I'm looking at you!"

Wayne let out a shout as he dove out of the way of a red eye blast from Basilisking.

"What the hell is going on here?" Wayne asked himself. "There's a Basilisk shooting eye beams at me!"

"Soon, you'll be just like all of the other people at this school who looked down on me: dead!" Basilisking shouted as he fired another set of eye beams at Wayne. "Then I can go into the cave and complete my mission!"

Wayne was about to leap out of the way when he got an idea. He quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket and used the screen to reflect the eye beams back at Basilisking.

"Ah!" Basilisking screamed as the beam struck him in the chest, knocking him back a bit. "Nice try, but you can't kill me with my own beams."

"The beams may not be able to defeat you, but we are," a regal-sounding voice said as Arthur and Lance, both morphed, flipped over Wayne and landed between him and the monster.

"Rangers?" Basilisiking asked in surprise as he looked at the Red and Blue Rangers. "What are you doing here?"

"You honestly thought that you could attack people and we wouldn't come?" Lance asked. "That's kind of strange."

"You're ruining everything!" Basilisking complained. His eyes began to glow again. "I'll just have to destroy you. Nobody's getting in my way!" With that, he launched a barrage of beams at the two Rangers. They cried out as the beams struck their suits, causing sparks to fly. However, they didn't go down like the civilians had.

"That will not be enough to deter us," Arthur said as he drew his Legend Blade. "Sir Lance, are you with me?"

"I'm with you," Lance said as he also drew his Legend Blade. The two Rangers ran towards Basilisking before slashing with their swords. Basilisking let out a cry as he felt the swords bite into him. However, he quickly recovered.

"Thank you for coming so close," Basilisking remarked as his eyes began to glow again. "You've made destroying you oh so much easier."

Twin red beams came out of his eyes again and struck the Rangers in the chest. However, he didn't stop with a short blast. Instead, he kept the beam going, turning it into a stream of energy that pushed the two Rangers back. The force was so strong that it sent the Rangers flying.

"What do I do?" Wayne asked himself. "I'm not a Power Ranger, but those guys need my help!"

He ran at Basilisking from the side before roundhouse kicking him in the gut. This interrupted the eye beams Basilisking was firing, giving the two Rangers a chance to recover.

"How dare you!" Basilisking screamed as he whirled around, slamming his tail into Wayne and knocking him away. He whirled around and glared at Wayne as his eyes began to power up again. "You're dead!"

However, just as he was about to launch the blast, the beams sputtered. Basilisking let out a grunt of exertion, but no eye beams were being launched.

"What happened to my beams?" Basilisking asked. "I can't get revenge like this!" He glared at Wayne again. "You'll pay for this next time, you pest!"

With that, green runes surrounded Basilisking before turning into an energy field that he disappeared into.

"Now for round two," Lance said as he ran up, only to notice the lack of a Fae Beast. "Or not. Guess we scared him off."

"Indeed," Arthur said as he ran up as well. The two Rangers put their Blades into the loop on their belt. "I know not what that beast was supposed to be, but his ranged attacks were strong."

"It was a basilisk," Wayne said. The two Rangers looked at him. "You know, like Chamber of Secrets? The Harry Potter movie?"

"What does the moving of a botanist with hair issues have to do with a snake?" Arthur asked.

"I…what?" Wayne asked.

"Don't mind him," Lance said. "He doesn't really get pop culture references. But you were saying it was a basilisk?"

"I mean, he called himself Basilisking so I would assume so," Wayne said. "Though the name is a bit redundant. Basilisk already means 'little king'. So basically, he's calling himself little king king. I can show you on my phone."

He pulled out his smartphone, only to see that there were cracks all over the phone. Wayne dropped it with a yelp as it started to smoke and caught fire.

"Oh man!" Wayne said as he stomped out the small fire. "That is just my luck."

"That portable mirror likely saved your life today," Arthur said. "That was very quick thinking in using it to protect yourself.

"Thanks, I guess," Wayne said.

"Arthur, come over here!" Lance shouted. He was kneeling in front of one of the civilians, a young woman, that had been struck by Basilisking's beams. "I can't get a pulse!"

Arthur ran over, only to find the same result. As he moved to the next victim, a young man, there was no change.

"The basilisk's gaze was said to kill its victims instantly," Wayne said as he stood over the two Rangers. "I think you were spot on about my phone saving my life, Red Ranger."

"You may call me Arthur," Arthur said as he stood up and demorphed in a small spiral of flames. Lance did the same, only with his spiral being wind. "We have been keeping an eye on you for a little while now, hoping to recruit you. What is your name?"

"I'm Wayne. Wayne Pierce," Wayne said. "Is this for real? You want to recruit me? This isn't a joke?"

"It's not," Lance said. "Our mentor told us you would be a good choice."

"And having seen your ingenuity and knowledge, I would be hard pressed to disagree," Arthur said as he pulled the Green Legendizer and the Shield Emblem from his tunic and offered it to Wayne. "Please. Join us."

"Well…" Wayne said. "If you really need me, it would be rude of me to refuse. I guess you've got a Green Ranger."

"Thank you, my new friend," Arthur said. "We had better return to Merlin. Perhaps he knows of a way to aid these victims."

"I am not pleased," Morgana said as she glared at Liecanthrope and Basilisking. "This snake did not follow the plan at all!"

"I believe he was just reveling in his new power," Liecanthrope replied. Basilisking nodded in agreement. "I think if we give him just a bit more Fae Energy, I can convince him to accomplish his task."

"I have a better idea," Whipvern replied as she leaned against a tree. "Why doesn't Liecanthrope take Basilisking to the cave himself if he's being so unruly?"

"What?" Liecanthrope asked as he glared over at his fellow general. "What are you playing at?"

"That's not a bad idea," Morgana said.

"My queen!" Liecanthrope said as he looked back at Morgana. "But you have always told us generals to stay back from the fight and-"

"I changed my mind," Morgana said coldly. "Now unless you have a great reason to refuse, I expect you to guide your Fae Beast to the cave and get those Fae Crystals!"

"I…Very well," Liecanthrope said as he bowed his head. "Just restore Basilisking's power and I suppose we will be on our way."

Morgana stood up as a ball of glowing light flew into her hands. With one gesture, it flew into Basilisking as his eyes began to glow red.

"No Rangers are going to stand in my way now!" Basilisking roared. "And certainly not any little pests that decide to aid them!"

"Come on," Liecanthrope said. "We have work to do."

"Right," Basilisking replied as black runes surrounded them before creating an energy field the two Fae Beasts disappeared into.

Whipvern smirked as Lycanthrope disappeared.

"This should be good," she said to herself. "If the Rangers don't destroy him, Morgana will unleash her fury on him. It's a win-win for me."

With that, she slunk off into the forest.

"You brought Wayne with you?" Merlin asked as he looked up from the Legendizer he was working on. "Good, you'll need his help."

"It's nice to meet you," Wayne said as he shook hands with Merlin. "You must be Merlin."

"I am indeed," Merlin replied. "I'm glad to see that you agreed to join the team."

"Honestly, it seems like you guys need all the help you can get," Wayne remarked. "Two Rangers a team does not make."

"We actually came to hopefully discover a way to restore the vitality of the victims of Basilisking," Arthur replied.

"I'm afraid not," Merlin said. "The victims leave this mortal plane the instant they are struck by those beams."

"So Basilisking is killing people with his eye beams," Lance said. "How do we beat that? The beams didn't kill us last time, but they really stopped us from attacking him."

"I actually have an idea," Wayne said. "If you're really the Merlin, can you show us something in your crystal ball?"

"I can," Merlin replied as he walked over to the crystal ball. "What would you like to see?"

"Show us the fight between the Red Olympian Ranger and Medusa," Wayne said.

"Very well," Merlin said as he smiled and put a hand near the crystal ball. "I have a feeling I know where this is going."

The image in the crystal ball began to come into focus, showing a Red Power Ranger with lightning bolts in an 'x' shape as his visor and a golden omega symbol on his chest. He was currently being blasted by the fangs from the snake hair of a green woman.

"I gave you a chance," the Red Ranger said as he raised his sword, "but you give me no choice. Lightning Sword! Red Lightning Strike!"

He raised his sword into the air, where red lightning struck it. The lightning sparked along the blade as the Red Ranger charged forward and slashed Medusa across the front with the glowing blade. An explosion blasted both combatants back. However, the green snake-haired woman began to come forward again.

Gray beams shot out of the green snake-haired woman's eyes but before they could hit the Red Ranger, he raised a bronze shield and reflected the beams back at the green snake-haired woman. The monster continued to fire the beams as the Red Ranger slowly pushed forward against them, putting the Mirror Shield between them and his visor.

"That's enough," Wayne said.

Merlin pulled his hand away, causing the interior of the crystal ball to become murky again.

"What was that?" Lance asked.

"An old Ranger battle that occurred about three years ago down in New Jersey," Wayne said. "The Rangers somehow designed a shield that reflects just about everything."

"I see," Arthur said. "And you hope to design a similar shield?"

"Not exactly," Wayne said. "We just need a way to reflect the attacks back at him."

"Like your pocket mirror did!" Arthur realized. "That is truly brilliant!"

"Thanks," Wayne said. "It's actually called a cell phone, but I'll take the compliment."

"So how do we do it?" Lance asked. "We don't really have anything reflective."

"No, but we can probably buy it," Wayne said. "Most convenience stores have mirrors of some kind."

"And I can put a spell on it to ensure it does not break like Wayne's cell phone," Merlin said.

"I'll go into town and find the mirror," Lance said. He turned and walked out of the main room.

"I would like to do something, Wayne," Arthur said as he summoned his Legend Blade.

"Whoa!" Wayne shouted as the sword appeared in Arthur's hand. "That's awesome that you can do that."

"Kneel for me," Arthur said.

Wayne did so as Arthur tapped the sword on each of Wayne's shoulders.

"I dub you Sir Wayne of St. David's College," Arthur said, "and an official member of the Legendary Knight Rangers."

The Legend Blade disappeared from his hand as Wayne stood up.

"Glad to be here," Wayne replied before turning to Merlin. "I actually had a question for you, Merlin."

"Go ahead," Merlin said.

"I was wondering if it would be possible for a monster like Basilisking to come here through the cave near St. David's College," Wayne said.

"I would have to look into it," Merlin said. "But I suppose it is possible that a Fae Beast could travel through the cave."

"Why are you asking such a question, Sir Wayne?" Arthur asked.

"Basilisking mentioned something about a cave when he was attacking the students," Wayne said. "I was wondering if he could be talking about the cave we traveled through to get here."

"A frightening possibility," Merlin said. "We will just have to hope Lance returns in time if that proves to be the case."

Lance killed the engine of the Pegasus Cycle as he got off. He was grateful that the Rangers could still ride the cycles outside of their Ranger forms. In its disguised form, the cycle was black with no Pegasus-like features. In fact, it looked like a normal bike.

"Since when do you ride?" a familiar voice asked as Lance removed his helmet. He looked over to see Gwen walking up to him.

"Hey Gwen," Lance said. "What are you doing here?"

"Just picking up a few things after my shift at the Diner," Gwen said as she held up the cloth bag of items. "You didn't answer my question, though. Since when do you ride? You trying out a Hell's Angel theme?"

"Not exactly," Lance said. "It's really just the best way to get around these days."

"Well, it's a good look for you," Gwen said.

"Thanks," Lance said. "I've got to get going. I'm on a mission."

"A mission, you say?" Gwen replied. "Well, don't let me stop you."

"Thanks, Gwen," Lance said. "See you at the diner soon."

"Later," Gwen said as she started walking away.

"So, this is the cave," Liecanthrope said as he and Basilisking walked up to the cave with a group of Redcaps. "Get going, Basilisking. I want to avoid the initial …unpleasantness I assume the Rangers will bring."

"Whatever," Basilisking said as he stepped forward.

There was the sound of running footsteps as three shadowy figures ran up to the entrance to the cave. As they stepped into the light, they were revealed to be Arthur, Lance and Wayne.

"What are you doing here, little pest?" Basilisking asked as he glared at Wayne. "Think you can stand up to me?"

"I know I can," Wayne said as he pulled his Shield Emblem out of his pocket and looked at it. Light glistened off of the green gargoyle outline with orange eyes. The word "GARGOYLE" was visible on the banner-like design, along with a green 3 below it.

"Ready?" Arthur asked as he pressed the left button on his watch, transforming it into his Legendizer. The other two Rangers did the same before nodding.

"Ready!" they shouted.

The three Rangers opened their Legendizers and inserted their Shield Emblems before closing them.

"Dragon!" the Red Legendizer announced as its eyes flashed green.

"Hippogriff!" the Blue Legendizer announced as its eyes flashed yellow.

"Gargoyle!" the Green Legendizer announced as its eyes flashed orange

The sound of horns filled the air as the three Rangers posed.

"Legendary Knight, Ready to Fight!" they shouted together as they pressed the button on the left side of their Legendizers.

"Legend Begin!" the Legendizers announced together.

Morphing Sequence

Arthur is standing in a sea of fire with a sword embedded in a stone in front of him. As he draws the sword and raises it above his head, the blade begins to glow. The glow then transfers from the blade to Arthur, traveling through the hilt, down his arm and then through his whole body excluding his head. As Arthur puts the blade into the loop on his left side, the glowing energy forms into his Ranger suit. Flame then swirls around his head, creating the helmet as a dragon's roar can be heard in the background.

Lance is standing in a cyclone of blue wind with a sword embedded in a stone in front of him. As he draws the sword and raises it above his head, the blade begins to glow. The glow then transfers from the blade to Lance, traveling through the hilt, down his arm and then through his whole body excluding his head. As Lance puts the blade into the loop on his left side, the glowing energy forms into his Ranger suit. Wind then swirls around his head, creating the helmet as the screech of a Hippogriff can be heard in the background.

Wayne is standing in a green-glowing rocky field with a sword embedded in a larger stone in front of him. As he draws the sword and raises it above his head, the blade begins to glow. The glow then transfers from the blade to Wayne, traveling through the hilt, down his arm and then through his whole body excluding his head. As Wayne puts the blade into the loop on his left side, the glowing energy forms into his Ranger suit. Tiny stones then swirl around his head, creating the helmet as the roar of a Gargoyle can be heard in the background.

End Morphing Sequence

"The Noble Dragon! Red Legendary Knight Ranger!" Arthur shouted as he drew his sword and posed.

"The Honorable Hippogriff! Blue Legendary Knight Ranger!" Lance shouted as he drew his sword and posed.

"The Vigilant Gargoyle! Green Legendary Knight Ranger!" Wayne shouted as he drew his sword and posed. His suit was quite similar to Arthur's and Lance's with the silver armor-like design for the chest, pauldrons on his shoulders, a shield-shaped belt buckle and silver gloves and boots. What was different was the Emblem on the right side of his chest, which resembled his personal Shield Emblem, and his helmet. His visor was like a large misshapen mouth with a silver outline and five silver bars running down it. The eyes above his visor were orange and had a swoop-like design to them.

"The Legend Begins Anew!" Arthur shouted.

"Power Rangers Legendary Knights!" the three shouted as they posed together.

Arthur pointed his sword at the group of villains.

"Prepare to taste the cold steel of justice!" he shouted before the three charged forward.

"Redcaps, get to your bikes!" Liecanthrope ordered.

"I'm sorry, did he say bikes?" Wayne asked.

There was the roar of engines as Redcaps riding motorcycles rocketed towards the Rangers.

"I'm going to go with yes," Lance said as the Rangers stopped. A pair of Redcaps rode past them and struck the Rangers with their pikes as they passed.

"Bikes or not, we will not be deterred," Arthur said as the Rangers stood up. "We need to summon our Pegasus Cycles and deal with the Redcaps."

"That'd be great," Wayne said as he noticed another pair of Redcaps coming at the Rangers. "But first we need a chance to actually summon them. Luckily, I think I know how to help with that."

He pressed the button on the top of his belt buckle, causing the two halves to spring open. He pulled out the Gargoyle Emblem and flipped open the pommel on his Legend Blade before inserting the Emblem.

"Number Three! Gargoyle! Time to Start the Legend!" the Legend Blade announced as green light radiated from the Emblem.

Wayne pressed the red button on the hilt, causing rock music to play.

"Activate Stone Power!" the Legend Blade announced as the music stopped.

"Gargoyle Stone Spikes!" Wayne shouted as he stabbed his sword into the ground. A green beam shot out of the sword and circled around the Rangers. There was a rumble as stone spikes appeared around the Rangers, creating a physical barrier between the Rangers and their enemies.

"Good thinking, Sir Wayne!" Arthur said. "Sir Lance, let us summon the Pegasus Cycles while we have the chance!"

"Right!" Lance said as the two Rangers pressed the button on the top of their belt buckle, causing the two halves to spring open. They each pulled out the Pegasus Emblem before flipping open the pommel on their Legend Blades and inserting the Emblems.

"Number Six! Pegasus! Time to Start the Legend!" the Legend Blades announced as bronze light radiated from the Emblems.

The two Rangers quickly pressed the red button on the hilt of their swords and rock music began to play.

"Activate Wing Power!" the Legend Blade announced as the music stopped. There was the sound of a whinnying of a horse as Pegasus Cycles appeared in a flash of bronze light in front of both Arthur and Lance. They both leapt onto the motorcycles as Wayne pulled his blade out of the ground, causing the spikes to sink back into the earth.

Arthur revved the engine as he and Lance took off towards the Redcaps on their own motorcycles. They each drew their swords and raised them above their heads. As they passed the first line of Redcaps, they slashed with their Legend Blades. Several Redcaps cried out as they fell off their bikes and disintegrated into dust upon impact with the ground.

Another group of Redcaps rode towards the two Rangers while leveling their pikes. Arthur sheathed his blade before driving towards a ramp-like bump and using it to launch himself into the air. As he landed on the other side of the Redcaps, he put his foot down to rotate the bike before riding towards the Redcaps' backs. He drew his sword again before pressing the red button on the hilt twice. Lance, who was still riding towards the Redcaps, did the same.

"Pegasus!" the Legend Blade announced. "Legend Break!"

Whinnies came out of the Pegasus Cycles as bronze energy wings extended out of the sides of the bikes. The two Rangers and their bikes were surrounded in bronze light before turning into beams of light that shot through the Redcaps and their bikes before rematerializing on the other side. The Redcaps let out a scream as they and their bikes exploded.

Meanwhile, Wayne had begun to clash with Basilisking.

"Come on, little pest!" Basilisking laughed as he slammed his tail into Wayne, causing him to fly back. "Fight back!"

"If you insist," Wayne said as he drew his Legend Blade and sliced at Basilisking's chest. The snake monster let out a hiss as the sword bit into him.

"How is a pest like you so strong?" Basilisking asked as he stumbled back.

"Hey, you literally asked for it," Wayne remarked as he leveled his sword again.

Basilisking let another hiss, this time in anger, before his eyes began to glow. Wayne reached behind him as red beams flew from Basilisking's eyes towards Wayne. In one quick movement, Wayne pulled a hand mirror from behind his back and raised it to block the attack. The beams flew into Basilisking's chest and caused him to fly backwards before tumbling along the ground.

"What is this?" Basilisking hissed. "What happened?"

There was the roar of the bikes again as Lance and Arthur rode up to Wayne and hopped off. The Pegasus Cycles disappeared in a flash of bronze light.

"Excellent work, Sir Wayne." Arthur said. "Our reflection trick worked perfectly."

"It appears I'm not the only intelligent one here," Liecanthrope mused as he walked up. "You are quite clever, Green Ranger."

"And who might you be?" Arthur demanded as he leveled his sword.

"You may call me Liecanthrope," Liecanthrope said with a small bow. "I would tell you more, but I do so love to keep my cards close to the vest. All you need to know is that Basilisking will not be alone in destroying you. You will have to deal with me as well."

"Then we shall best you both with our full strength!" Arthur said as he put the Dragon Emblem back into his Legend Blade, with Lance doing the same with his Hippogriff Emblem. "Let us finish you off!"

All three Rangers pressed the button on the hilt twice, causing the blades to glow their respective Ranger colors.

"Dragon! Hippogriff! Gargoyle!" the Legend Blades announced. "Legend Break!"

Arthur and Lance ran towards Liecanthrope while Wayne ran towards Basilisking. All three had their respective elements circling the blade of their sword. Wayne let out a cry as he ran at superhuman speed before slashing Basilisking as he passed.

"Ding dong, the king is dead!" Basilisking shouted as he fell to the ground and exploded.

"You'll pay for this, you pest!" a young male voice said. Wayne whirled around to see a young man about his age gasping for breath. "The whole college- no, the whole world will pay!"

The brand on the back of the young man's neck shattered before he disintegrated into dust.

"I…killed him?" Wayne asked as he looked down at his Legend Blade. "I killed a man?"

Meanwhile, Arthur and Lance had begun running at superhuman speed towards Liecanthrope, only for him to catch their swords mid swing between his claws.

"You'll have to be faster than that," Liecanthrope said as he used his leverage to pull the swords from the Rangers' grasp and hurled them into the air. As Arthur and Lance looked at Liecanthrope in shock, he slammed his large paws into their chests, causing shockwaves to fly and launch the two Rangers back. Their swords landed near their prone bodies. They both demorphed from the impact, although their Legend Blades remained in the ground instead of disappearing.

Liecanthrope looked over as Wayne seemed to be still shocked at the human who had just died in front of him.

"So that pathetic Basilisking failed," Liecanthrope said. "Oh well. I suppose I'll have to destroy all three of you myself."

"Pathetic?" Wayne asked. "You're probably the one who turned him into that monster! And now that he failed, he's pathetic?"

"Correct," Liecanthrope replied. "Any Fae Beast that fails to complete its mission is useless to Queen Morgana!"

"Then you and your kind are more monstrous than you look!" Wayne shouted. He drew his Legend Blade again and ran forward. Liecanthrope smirked as Wayne charged. Wayne slashed at Liecanthrope, only for the werewolf to swat away the Legend Blade with a single backhand. He extended his claws again before slashing Wayne across the chest with them. Wayne cried out as he flew back before landing next to Arthur and Lance, demorphing as he did so.

"You don't have the power to match me," Liecanthrope said as he started towards the cave. "Just stay down, little Rangers."

Arthur grunted as he stood up before grabbing his and Lance's Legend Blades. He let out a cry as he leapt forward and brought both Blades down in a double slash. Liecanthrope stood there as the swords slid down his back with very little damage.

"I told you to stay down," Liecanthrope said, his back still to Arthur.

"I listen not to villains but to justice," Arthur replied.

"So be it," Liecanthrope said as he whirled around before slamming his fist into Arthur's chest. Arthur flew across the field before landing hard in front of his knights. He let out a gasp as the air left his lungs.

"Now then, with you annoyances out of the way, I can get the Fae Crystals I came for," Liecanthrope said as he turned around and stepped into the cave. There was a flash of purple light and Liecanthrope flew out of the cave before skidding along the ground.

"You will not be getting the Fae Crystals," Merlin said as he stepped out of the cave. "Not while I still draw breath."

"That can be remedied," Liecanthrope replied as he stood up and extended his claws. He charged forward before slashing at Merlin. The old wizard raised his wooden staff to block the attack before shockwaves of purple energy flew out of the staff. This stunned Liecanthrope long enough for Merlin to create a purple energy ball in his hand that he slammed into Liecanthrope's chest. The werewolf let out a cry as he flew backwards.

"Merlin can fight?" Lance asked.

"Of course he can," Arthur said. "You did not think he was just good for parlor tricks, did you?"

"Rangers and Merlin, you will rue the day you crossed me," Liecanthrope said as he got up, clutching a bloody arm. "Next time will go differently!"

With that, black runes appeared around him before creating an energy field he disappeared into.

"For such a 'smart' villain, he really doesn't have much of his own material, does he?" Wayne asked as he slowly got up.

"Original threats or not, we were no match for him," Arthur said as he stood up. "If not for Merlin, Liecanthrope would have succeeded in his mission."

Merlin walked over to the Rangers.

"Are you alright, Rangers?" he asked.

"I've been better," Lance said as he slowly moved to his feet.

"I have some items that might help you heal back in the Caves," Merlin said. "Come with me."

The Rangers followed before Merlin ushered them into the cave. Just as Merlin was about to enter himself, purple flames began to appear around his fingertips. As Merlin looked at his hand, the fire faded.

"I used a bit too much of my power today," Merlin said. "It looks like this body is wearing a bit thin…"

I have a feeling some of you are going to get that reference. But even if you DO get it, what does it mean for Merlin? Only one way to find out…and that's to keep reading!

Until next time, may the power protect you!
