Here's a Castlevania III Dracula's Curse inspired fic
They are cautious around him. He doesn't blame them for their distant behavior, though. His father, after all, is their greatest enemy. It is not wrong to believe he might be untrustworthy somehow.
They glance at him uncomfortably. No words are needed to understand what they are thinking. Does he eat any real food? Or does he only feast on fresh blood like his father?
Finally, Sypha speaks up. She asks him if he wants some meat too and he reluctantly accepts. He has long given up on drinking blood but his human side must still be satiated. He needs the energy he no longer gets from blood.
This seems to put his three companions somewhat at ease. They all sit in silence around the fire with their share of meat. It isn't until Grant starts chuckling out of the blue that the silence breaks. The three turn to look at him and Trevor asks him what he finds amusing.
Grant explains the joke he was thinking of and there's a bit of a pause before Trevor and Sypha begin laughing too. It's the first time he has seen any of his companions laugh or smile in any way since he joined them. Alucard thinks it probably isn't the joke they find funny but the situation. Here they all are, a group of lost souls on a perilous journey.
Even though they are probably well equipped and their strength together makes them a solid team, deep down there is a nervous feeling that nags at them. Perhaps they will succeed but what will happen next? What does the future hold for each of them...?
Alucard remains quiet, watching the flames of the bonfire dance. He dreads the moment he will face his father and help strike him down.
I'd been wanting to do a Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse short fic for a while now but I didn't know how to approach it considering it has been more than a decade since I last replayed the game. I used to have a personal tradition where I'd replay several Castlevania games every year but it's been a while since I've done it.
It's also kind of tough to do fics for some of the games considering they weren't exactly as heavy in dialogue. I definitely had to take some liberties but that's what fanfiction is like. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ao3 gave me lots of issues with the author's notes while I was uploading the new chapter there :/
