He watched the last student rush out the door and he sat down on a chair. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed, a bit tired from giving lessons.
Initially, he had just agreed to tutor the Agarici family's son. Later, word got out and soon the Antons sent their twin daughters. Not long after, two other families sent their children as well. Most of these families could not afford to give their children a proper education and they had no schoolhouses in their villages.
It did not bother him to spend some of his time teaching the children. He was privileged enough to have received a good education from his parents and his private tutors. He could not fathom the idea that a person might live their whole life without reading or writing. It didn't seem fair that only some people could while others could not.
If he could help these children learn, he was fulfilling part of his desire to help humanity.
He heard Maria approach from the door. She walked towards the window and saw the faint figures of the children in the distance, skipping home.
"How were the lessons today?" she chuckled as she walked towards him and placed her hands on his shoulders from behind.
"I think they went quite well," he said with a small smile.
Author's Notes: I've always had this idea for a story in which Alucard is a teacher. In fact, I have several ideas for stories where he just sort of has different occupations and identities over the years. Random at times. Once in a while a story might focus on a different era and stuff.
I think a theme for some of them would probably be him trying to atone for his father's sins by helping humanity as much as he can.
