He watched the two chase each other through the yard and laugh.
He sipped his tea while he sat at the outdoor table. "They seem like children, don't they?" Annette turned to him with a smile. She held her own cup of tea in her hands.
"Indeed," he responded.
Maria caught up to Richter and gave him a playful punch to his shoulder. "Got you!"
Richter chuckled and held his hands up. "Alright, alright. You win!"
Maria crossed her arms and smirked. "Now we've settled who's the quickest."
Richter patted her head. "For now, my dear sister. For now."
Maria rolled her eyes and smiled. "Whatever you say, Richter."
He took another sip of his tea as he eyed the scene with amusement.
It was nice to have a family again.
